This is tangents. My name is Luke Leedvenworth. I'm a high school assistant principal from suburban Chicago. The categories I'm looking for are nineties Nickelodeon and Nintendo O first game was way back in March of twenty twenty four.. So more than two years ago. And it was your best game. We have never climbed so close to the sun since. twenty eight points that game. You your best game so far, but I'm sure you're gonna get past it today. Double digits is the goal after doing this so many times out. That's right. As long as you get to double digits, I think you're happy Can you recommend a good book I like The rest of the world, it seems, have jumped with both feet to Dungeon Crawler Carl. I'm in the middle of the fifth book. and really haven't read too many books that I've gotten hooked into like these in a while. Yeah, I can recommend that series. It's fun, it's dumb, but with like a surprising amount of heart and like keeps you wanting to keep reading, which is great. You are not the first and you will not be the last. Reure. That's ser sure that's true. All right, next question What is your favorite TV theme song? An old standby? I can't think of anything recently I do I am a sucker for the grunts and the of home improvement. So we're going to say the home improvement Thising Yeah, good one. Nailed it. That era of TV had some great TV theme songs. Yeah. I think Family Matters is up there too. ye. Yeah Your next question comes from Alyissa Bonjour, who asks, what book or movie character do you identify with? I don't know how recently we'd go with this, but there was a Dean Konts book series called Odd Thomas It was about a kid who saw ghosts And about the time that I read that, which was a while ago now It just seemed to parallel a lot of the Not obviously of the same ghosts But just some of the character work and stuff seemed to really fit with me at the time that I was reading it. so I will That's the first thing that comes to mind at least Oob Thomas All right. And let's do one more spin here. This is perfect. Where do you quiz? I have made a semi regular return to Trivier Workshop online, which is really great. and I do like kind of capping off my weekends with that. Yeah under the HavMerson moniker. It's just usually just me and then if my kids happen to stroll by and see a question, they'll chip in. but Good. And then downtown Wakegon, Nightshade and Dark Pandemonium Brewery is a wonderful spot. My ten year old and I go there every week now Gary Middleton and Crew will be there as well and we kind of they kick our butts because there's six to eight of them and then it's just me and a ten year old. but We battle back and forth pretty good still Good. Yeah. Well Speaking of trivia, Luke, are you ready to make your game? I imagine so Okay. Luke, we're going to start your game off. We're Frank left off with this question Life is in their hands, death is on their minds is the tagline for what nineteen fifty seven Sydney Lumette film Yeah. And while it didn't come to me at first, I actually have seen this and I do enjoy it twelve Agryen is actually if I was ever to go back to the stage, this would be the show I would go back for. I would love. Oh yeah, that would be great.. This is one of those shows where if it comes around to your hood and you've got a local theater group, there's twelve roles for old dudes Yeah, right. twelve Agryman is the correct answer Your first point of the game And it gets you these tangents, tag lines death. nineteen fifties films or Wildcard, or remember, at any point in the game you want to reset the board, you can to your specialty topics, which are Nintendo and nineties Nickelodeon Yeah, why not? Let's let's pull the wild card. here and we'll see we'll see what we go Just wildcard then. okay Spanning nearly two decades, Richard Link l' before trilogy pairs actress Julie Delpi. with one actor As their relationship evolves through the films before suunrise Be sunset And before midnight have not seen them But I do think this is Ethan Hawk is the name that's coming to mind. So I'm not gonna to pull the ri cord just yet 'll say Eth Haw Gt go Ethan Hawk and Ethan Hawk is the correct answer. And Ethan Hawk is your second point and you have these tangents now, trilogies directors ers or wild card These These are at least good enough to take a run at without going wild card again I'm between, I'm kind of equally stretched across all three Um, I don't know, Maybe the twelve Agry men was was kind of could Karma, we will go with actors. Okay, go on actors then What film was originally announced in two thousand four M brought in Tom Hanks and Tim Allen for lead roles seven years later It was overhauled for a twenty twenty one release described by Dwayne Johnson As an homage to the African quQeen, romancing the stone and Indiana Jones I actually saw this with my kids in theaters and actually U I think was one of the few people in the world to actually like kind of like it U If this is what I'm thinking it was, I think this was Jungle Cruise It was indeed Jungle Cruz. Yeah. I didn't hate it. Didn't hate it. What a review. That's going on the next poster Didn't hate it? abbsolutely. Proably one of the few positive ones they could find though. So My on that poster after all. Indeed. All right, that is your third point I gonna get you these tangents It starts with a month abbreviation. In this case, JUN for June. twenty twenty's films actors or wild t. Well, I've got a chekered passed with wordpl categories. and by checkered, I mean really just unrequited love, if nothing else In this room I like the categories again And actors was fine twenty twenty's films would be okay I just can't quit the wordpl. Let's try what starts with the month of brief and we'll get our first strike real quick. Gutton for punishment. Here we go. Yes. See what happens? Your question is this What former member of the SNL cast won her first Emmy in nineteen ninety six, her second for a different show in two thousand six, and six more consecutively for a different show from twenty twelve to twenty seventeen It fits the category. It fits what I think I know about her and Vep. So I'm gonna say Julia Louis Dreyfus. Julia Louis Dreyfus is correct. And Julia gets you your fourth point in these tangents It startarts with a month abbreviation. We have but one left of those. Take that, you'll kill the category. Saturday night live Emmiess or twenty ten's TV Debating between killing that category or jumping to a stronger category for me just across the board Let's do that. Let's jump to twenty ten's TV. All right, twenty ten's TV. your first up there is this And it is a before and after. I hope you like before and after. I like them like I would like wordplate categories. I don't know how well it's going to go though. we'll see. Well, we'll see Uh The star of Th Aigos, Father of the Bride, On Murders in the buildilding, and the twenty eighteen comedy special, An evening you will forget for the rest of your life Plus The star of three Aigos, Father of the Bide On murders in the building And the twenty eighteen comedy special an evening you will forget for the rest of your life This is a really fun clue. So kudos for writing it. I've got this as Steve Martin short It is Steve Martin shhort. Yeah, correct. Well done, Luke. Luke, that get you your fifth point and get you these tangents before and after nineteen eighties films, twenty ten'ens TV. comedy. U I will do before and after, please Im going to before and after The twelfth president of the United States who lasted only sixteen months in office thanks to a nasty case of gastroenteritis. Plus, the winner of the two thousand nine MTV VMA for B Female videoide. Fite at least one opinion Oh, okay. So I thought this was William Henry Harrison at first, but I think he was a lot shorter than sixteen months U So and then the VMA question, that makes me think of not that I want to. Kanye and Beyonce and Taylor Swift So Oh. I think there's only one president whose last name is was Taylor. So let's go with Zachary Taylor Swift Zachary Taylor Swift. I'm gonna let you finish. It is u Zachary Taylor Swift to get you your sixth point, you're doubled up on episode forty six. I think I think that was like the head to head with Tim Gomez. if I remember right. that that was just a terrible day for me I think you're right. Oh, brutal. So that's your sixth point to get you these tangents. before and after. Presents awards or singers. Even if I didn't like before and after, I'd still pick it before all those other ones. Let's go before and after, please This time a process of elimination And here is your next one in before and after The subtitle of the nineteen ninety seven sequel, Speed two Plus, the keyboard shortcut in most Microsoft Windows software for the undo command. That's fun. Let's go with Cruise Control Z. Cruise Control Z. Yeah, Cruise Control Z is your answer And that is your seventh point and your tangents are before and after, subtitles Squels or teechnology we are back in decent territory, but I don't know, before and after is pretty fun. Let's keep going. All right, your third in before and after The actress, whose first four film roles were in Parenthood, Apoll of thirteen, A the Grinch Stole Christmas and a Beautiful mind Bus The eccentric tycoon portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio to earn his first Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category positive Howard Hughes is the back half of this ress with a last name Howard. I can only think of one immediately So let's do Bryce Dallas Howard Hughes Bryce Dallas Howard Hughes, You might have noticed all four of those films directed by Ron Howard. Aee you are right? Her dad. Yeah. Bryce Dallas Howard Hughes that get your eighth point and these tangents before and after. Aresses or two thousands films Let's keep going with before and after just because I'm not is confident than the others Before and after, here we go. Next one up is this A sitcom debuted in two thousand five, but didn't introduce its title character until twenty thirteen. pllus the nineteen seventy nine Nobel Peace Prize winner who died in Calcutta In nineteen ninety seven This one came pretty quick. This is how I met your mother, Teresa. Now I met your mother Tereresa, He is correct for your ninth point And you can do one more before and after before you get to close it out Or two thousands TV, or the nineteen seventies, or Nobel We're going We're going to hope that the next set of categories is better than those beforefore and after one more please. Before and after, here we go. lastast one before we switch it up. The more sinister alter ego of the fictional character Ben Solo Plus a cartoon dog and cat created by John Chris Fllusci in nineteen seventy eight and introduced to TV audiences in nineteen ninety one. nineteen seventy eight kind of threw me off for a minute, and I had this before it, and then I read along with you, and I got scared. and I think we're still good. I've got this as Kylo Rren and Stimpy. Tylo, Ren and Stempy is correct. And that gets you to double digits. your ten points now. Of course, we're done with before and after for now might be able to work your way back to it, but you'd also have villains All three egos or nineteen nineties TV nineties TV and that question could get me to nineties neck, but nineties TV is too broad for me to feel good about other areas. Let's play around either villains or alter egos U Villains stuck out to me first, so we'll trust the gut and go that Interesting. I don't know what the psychology is there. Yeah I don I don't want to know. All right, here we go in villains Jason Lee's character in the Incredibles was introduced as Buddy Pine, but after his pleas to be Mr. Incredles sidekick were brushed off, he returned as what evil alter ego? This one kind of fits both of those categories. And classic Pixar could kind of fall in one of my niche categories. I think I think his name was Syndrome It's a really good movie. You do remember right. That is your eleventh point. And you got these tangents to work with villains, Pixar, voices Or sidekicks. Okay. So this is a pretty fun group I think I could do okay. and all of these. And the only reason I don't say Pixar is just like I haven't kept up with it. My kids are not big movie Like I watch more movies than my kids do still It's not saying very much A Um But man, how could I not? Let'ss let's try out and see what happens. And if I get like Luca or whatever it is,'ll I'll just should by. Pixar is where we're going to go. Pixard is When you include cameos and voice acting, what actor trails only Stan Lee and Samuel L. Jackson on the list of the highest grossing performers, thanks mainly to his work in every Pixar film, from Toy Story through onward John Ratzenberger is the name that I have in my head John Ranszberger is the name that you're fortunate to have in your head because that's the right one the movie Soul was the first Pixar film released without John Ratzenberger's voice. And that is your twelfth point and to get you these tangents Pixar voices Cameos or money. I'll still be strongest in Pixar here. Pixar and this one is the last Pixar question in the database that hasn't been used yet. so killing it here. And it's this. developed under the working title helium. What was both the first Pixar film ever nominated for the Best Picture Oscar? and the first Pixar film to win the Oscar for Best Original score This has to be up of which I sobbed through the first twenty minutes of Hey It is up and you are not alone, Luke. U gets you your thirteenth point, lucky thirteen. You've ked Pixar But you do have titles two thousands Films or Oscars. Oh. My Oscars Kledge is fine, but not Great two thousand films, I mean, depending on where we land, fine, but not great. but in titles it's just so broad Um oh gosh. Let's do two thousand films awayay we go And it is a before and after round But it's a very specific type of before and after. U We'll get to that when we get to the tangents. Sure. Here is your question. It is before and after in two thousands films A two thousand three epic war drama with Natalie Portman playing a widow named Sarah Plus, a product now owned by Pepsico Originally developed in Tennessee is a cocktail mixer Before we even got to Pepsi, I thought Cold Mountain, but I did not know that Natalie Portman was in that movie But we're still going to go with it. I It be silly not to, let's say cold Mountain D Cold mountain deew. Enjoy a nice cold mountain deew right now? Yeahah. And that gets you to fourteen points. And the reason that was a special before and after question It comes from a round called Natalie Portmantau. Oh, that's incred, which is a before and after round that features movies starring Natalie Portman So you have that one, you have two thousands films, you have productucts or Wildcard. I mean, I'm still decent with the Fore and Afters. and while I didn't know that was a Natalie Portman movie Let's let's let's try it out All right, Natalie Portmantau, coming up next H it is The fourth film with Natalie Portman credited in the role of Jane Foster Plus, the media franchise that originated in the nineteen eighties with characters like Liono P thow. Humra And of course, Snarf, of course P I Thor, Love and Thundercats. ho. Oh. That was more of a Jimm Duan haacksaw Jim Dugan hoe than it was a Thundercats hoe. You should have had a two by four over your shoulder for that one. That gets you to fifteen points. And to get you these tangents. Natalie Portmantau. the MCU nineteen eighties TV or cartoons Now now we are territory that could be good My MCU is pretty good Um like Crazy detailed, but like pub quiz level, pretty good.. Nowy Portonto, Portmanteu is super, super fun. But I think it's time to flip. We've done enough before and afters, let's flip to MCU here Go in MCU. Okaykay. First we're up in MCU is gonna be this Between Rosemary Harris in Sam Rami's Spider Man films and Marissa Tomeay in the MCU O Oscar winning actress played Ant May in the ammazing Spider Man and its sequel I haven't seen these ones. I've never seen the Andrew Garfield Spider Man movies. So now you just have to think of an Oscar winning actress. That's all. I do. and I tell you what, I know they've made fun of how the age has decreased for the hscars Right Um Oscar winning actress Not Marissa Tome. I'm going to guess Sally Field And that could be really on or really off Guess out of left field Or in this case, Sally Field. Ho is correct. Thundercat Yeah Dug and ho. That get you to sixteen points and get you these tangents directors. MCU Oscars or actresses I mean, of those four MCU is still the best Go to MCU then, here we go The fictional supervillain Proxima Midnight first appeared in New Avengers Num eightight in twenty thirteen. and entered the MCU with Carrie Coon providing her voice and facial capture work for what twenty eighteen film? I don't have Proxima midnight though No. I think I know that name We just need the we just need the movie title. We don't in the movie U twenty, eighteen Um Just because I don't know, but a lot of characters came in. let's go ahead and say Infinity War here have a better guess. That's a good way to do it. Yeah. Just pick a movie where there are a lot of characters introduced Itop It is correct. Yeah. Infinity War. You'll know after the show, look up approximate at midnight. you'll remember. Okay Okay, that was seventeen points. And I' get you these tangents. Karry Koon franchises The MCU or Voices.
