I'm so happy to be join by doctor Fed here Triple Board C certified medical doctor and with certifications in nephrology, internal medicine, obesity, medicine, and pediatrics, and a friend of the show Dr. Freedom You are noticing a very dangerous trend in your practice. especially with who is in office and who's in charge of our health right now in the Trump administration Absolutely. So I am a board certified in nephroly so McKinney doctor and a high blood pressure doctor. and I'm seeing many patients come in with overwhelming stress, with uncontrolled high blood pressure for a multitude of reasons. but one that many people aren't addressing is that when you're living in a society increase stress, it can increase high blood pressure. And specifically, specifically We have data to support discrimination systemstemic racism in public humiliation are linked to poor cardiovascular outcomes. Even the American Heart Association has come out and recognized it What do you mean public humiliation Okay. so is it like dragging people off the streets and get and not abiding by their due process rights? Is that part of it? or That would be public humiliation when someone, for example, is at a UFC fight and they refer to the former person lady as a man when they misgender her That's public humiliation. And the thing about humiliation It is meant to cause shame, right And because it occurs in public, the expectation is for other people in public to come to one's defense. But going back to the UFC fight Michelle Obama was misgendered and what happened The crowd laughed Trump smurked And Joe Rogan went on the Beyonce Mute challenge. No one of power came to her defense. And then Afterwards, even Stephven A. Smith was talking about what a grrady Vennett was and at least initially, initially, he did not come out to immediately protect her. And so One of the studies with public humiliation and they I love science. They literally had these different factors to show what humiliation was and how it showed up. So they had these measurable objectives be it Cortisol, blood pressure, and they looked at arterial flow And just to get to the nitty gritty of it, it found that humiliation was directly associated with poor arterial flow and increased high blood pressure. So bottom line, something that seems just mental actually shows up in the physical So you are actually seeing in your clinic, people walking through your door physically carrying the weight of what's happening in the country right now. You mentioned one, you mentioned the public shaming. and that kind of thing, racism and that. What kinds of health changes are you seeing that you believe are being driven by this chronic stress? All right. so very specifically, let's just take high blood pressure When one has stress Of course, the stress hormone increases, cortisol When cortisol increases, that causes blood pressure, blood vessels to tighten when blood vessels tighten, that causes blood pressure to rise. When you have high blood pressure, that increases your risk for strokes Heart attacks and high blood pressure is the second leading cause of kidney failure And so when you have people walking around with recurrent stress and F be it chronic humiliation, be it from the economy, be it from systemic racism, be it from being fired from jobs, be it from having birthright citizenship threatened, you name it. But when you have people, and once you start getting into certain cultures who experience the stress more than others, it does show up. And again, we have the data to support it We often hear stress kills. We've been hearing that for a while U but explain what it actually means, what that means medically How does constant anxiety affect the blood pressure, heart health, as you mentioned, the immune system, sleep, and even our risk of serious illness? because I don't think people realize just how important number one, the immune system, obviously, but just how important sleep is. And if you don't get that, that can really affect you and even put us at risk of more serious illness abbsolutely mind, body and soul. So when it comes to sleep, Your body, for most adults, requires anywhere from seven to nine hours of continuous restful, uninterrupted sleep. So it's not just a matter of lying in the bed and scrolling through your phone or you know, having the TV on If you don't get that sleep and your body does not get the rest and you don't go to that proper basal state, then you will have points in the night when you should be sleeping where you have that increased stress, that increased cortisol, which could increase your blood pressure even while you're sleeping and you don't realize it. And so when you're not getting this proper sleep, that can also lead to daytime somnolence, which we've seen some folks in the White House with daytime somnolence, and that can be associated with negative health outcomes. The other thing that stress does, as it increases cortisol, it can also decrease your insulin sensitivity, meaning stress can lead to you having high blood sugar. High blood sugar can lead to diabetes. And we know diabetes is a high risk factor for heart disease, poor blood flow, amputations. okay. And diabetes is also the number one cause of kidney failure And so mind, body, soul, it's all connected. And so when you're having this stress, when you're having this weathering, it's not just a matter of something that's mental. And I know historically a lot of people But will think of mental health issues as being weak. They don't like to admit that they're having depression. They don't like to admit that they're having anxiety. But not only is it mental health, which of course, there's no shame in that. You don't laugh at people with cancer. you don't laugh at people, you know with diabetes. Why would you ever you take light when someone has something mental going on? But the anxiety, the depression, there's a direct link to the body and to heart disease, which is the number one cause of death in this country. And so for people who are taking in the news like myself and like what you give every day and who are out and who are just really digesting many of the woes of the world, the negativity. We all have to take a step back and recognize that the stress can kill. It can be a silent killer, and so we have to handle ourselves accordingly. Okay, this is so important and personal for for me. okay becausecause I tried to, you know, my mom lost two kids And I tried to get her and you know, that's just not supposed to be the natural way. That's not the natural way, right I understand that stress. I think I understand that it is. I understand that how do I say this? I understand that I don't understand what that is like But I do know the importance of Um mental health and getting help for mental health issues. Therapy is what I'm talking about But when I tell my mom And she's probably gonna be mad that I'm sharing this, but who cares? I want to help her and others like her. When I tell my mom, mom You need to go talk to someone. I don't need anybody. Why do I need to talk to someone? Why Why are people so resistant doing it when that it's going to help them be so much better as a human being and relatable. What is this resistance to going to therapy and talking to people? I't I don't understand it. I don't understand it It goes back to the history specifically of black women. in this country. The burden and the weight has been on the weight of black women and we have not historically had the ability to be weak or at least what we perceive as weak, to be vulnerable, to need help. because we've been too busy trying to hold together families. We've been too busy, you know, back when we were enslaved having to be assaulted by the enslavers, bear children who weren't ours, be shamed, then go on. We had to take care of children who weren't ours, we had to make sure that even when our black men were downtrodden that we made sure they felt like men fast forward. Look at the workforce. Many black women are single moms and you know, be it by choice or by, you know being a widow and you have to be there and you have to be strong And so Historically, what do we say in church Oh no, that's just the devil. pray about it Oh no. And so for many black women, it's believed that if you takeake the time and you say I am sad I am depressed, then one, you might feel like you're vulnerable and weak. You can't afford to be because you feel like the weight is on your shoulders of the whole world. or two, you might feel like you are questioning your faith. Everything happens for a reason. Well It's okay not to understand that reason You lose two children, They're in a better place. now. Don't tell me they're in a better place. you go to the better place. But if you say things like that out loud, you're questioning your faith, right or You're not strong And that's Black women do not something is wrong with you Like I you have mental health issues or you're crazy I don't like to say that word Yeah. don't believe in crazy. I mean, look, there are some people, you know, you have mental health issues. you can there can be bipolar, there can be addiction issues, there can be all kinds of things But nothing is wrong with that notothing is wrong with seeking help for, even if you're just depressed or your personality or your moods have changed, or even if you just don't know Why can't you just try it You you know what I'm saying? I just I don't get it But I also know the generation that came before us and before that generation. Crazy was the word. It was considered to be weak or even deon possessed. I remember people in the church who literally in hindsight, I recognized they were talking to themselves having audible hallucinations, visual hallucinations. I now recognize that they likely had schizophrenia Right It was stated that they were demon possessed. So mental illness has so much stigma in many communities, specifically the black community as being of the devil or someone who is weak, not just strong enough in their faith or someone who's vulnerable and You'd be hard pressed to get someone raaised with those beliefs to actually pause, be vulnerable and try something new. Ask me how I know. My mom is one of sixteen kids and they're all in their seventies and sixties and It's historic and it's something we need to really try to get over. We have to get over it. This is a really important conversation. I know weve started talking about the nation health, but this is a really important conversation, doctor. because I know people who are friends or family members who will say, Well, I saw this or you know, this came to me or it was as clear as day and I'm like, M But I'm like, are you sure? Yeahah, I know I saw that. And I'm not crazy. I saw it. I'm like, okay like hallucination Yeah, likew something appeared to me in an ashtray. somethingomething appeared to me. I saw it writing going across and I'm like, You know what I'm saying I know what you're saying They just don't know What do you do It is a slippery slope. because Oh gosh Is this lookult because Sometimes when people say are saying that they saw something, if it's someone who's saying it from a religious standpoint It's tricky, especially when you're a person in of faith becausecause ha can tell someone thing is hallucination where they might see it as a premonition. So it get it gets kind of deep. But bottom line when it comes to dealing with stress, you already when it comes to dealing with stress, when it comes to dealing with anxiety mayaybe one angle would be to share with your mom. you are going to get in trouble because I know she findes you back every day. You're definitely going to be inrouble. Yeah. But this one isn't about I'm talking about just beyond my mom. I'm talking about other people. Yeah. But if I think people are able to except getting help when they think of it as a black and white physical phenomenon, right? And so if we keep it in terms and it's true of anxiety, depression, public humiliation, discrimination that we have data to show that it causes that is linked to high blood pressure, to cardiovascular disease. Well, those are things that are tangible. Those are things that are black and white. And so perhaps if it's looked at in a biological fashion as opposed to a mental defect, then may be people in general, specifically people of our community or anyone else who's out there Like my my was it Jen Walsh, my favorite new ally? peoplee who are out there dealing with the stress because our allies I'm realizing now are getting a lot of A lot of hate and a lot of hateful comments and now starting to deal. with some of the stress If we look at it as what it is, something that's biological and not just mental or you're crazy or you're weak, then I think more people will be open to getting the help Because again, once I saw that the American Heart Association and they don't play, you know, they're data based, evidence based, when even they acknowledge that discrimination is linked to poor cardiovascular outcomes like strokes, I was like, o, this has crossed over to mainstream and it's undeniable Is it fair to say that Trump or the Trump administration are making us sick are unhealthy It is fair to say It is fair to say that comomes that legislation, that statements are creating an environment of stress. and yes, that stress is making us sick. when and stress kills and stress kills When you're able to wake up in the morning and see the first black president and first lady on the heads of monkeys, but you really don't hear a whole lot of people in the administration come out strongly against it, it can make you sick. When you're able to see Trump talk to black journalists like you know Rachel Sott, bby when he's able to call them you know imply that they like dirt or to call them stupid and you don't hear him condemned and you look like the very person he's talking about, yes, that can make you sick. When you see three hundred thousand black women lose federal jobs, it can make you sick. When you saw the firing of Lisa Scott and Federal Reserve That can make you sick, although I'm very happy that know the Supreme Court got that one right. But when you start to look back, and then with what you were talking about earlier this morning, Don, when you take it back historically and you see where all of this legislation, all of these rules, all the overreaching executive branch can really go, At first, you know we would have conversations saying, oh, they're trying to take us back to Jim Crow, that seems really like hyperbolic or just really like, oh, you're just exaggerating. But now You're starting to see how you could be marched back to Jim Crow and perhaps even, you know, pre emancipation proclamation if something is not done. And yes, that can make you sick. So it is absolutely to say that the environment that we are in with the current administration and I haven't gotten into the economy is causing stress. Stress is a silent killer. It's a high cause cardiovascular disease We're going to get to the economy. we're also going to talk about what happened with at the air base in Texas, an air base in Texas where Pete Hexseth, who iss the defefense seecretary and others, where they got rid of a mandatory flu U shot, right? vaccine and then all of a sudden there is an outbreak and what they have to do after that. right after this word from our sponsors. Don L is brought to you by the Freedom Fom Religion Foundation. Now, if you have been following the news like I have, you probably saw What just happened in Texas State education leaders approved a required reading list that includes Bible passages for public school students. Whether you agree with that decision or not, it raises a big question Who decides where the line is between religion and government That's exactly why organizations like the Freedom fromom Religion Foundation exists. As America approaches its two hundred and fiftieth anniversary, it is worth remembering that our C cononstitution protects your freedom to practice a religion, to change your religion or have no religion at all Those freedoms only work when government stays neutral. The founders rejected religious tests and established a government accountable to the people Those principles still matter today. The Freedom Fom Religion Foundation works every day to defend the First Amendment and everybody's freedom of conscience Learn more or become a member R f.S slash D or text D to five eleven five eleven. For a lot of people, they have been a game changer. They're not for everybody Maybe you don't like the idea of giving yourself a shot every week. Maybe you're worried about side effects, or maybe you're just looking for another option That's why doctors create it lean. Lean is made with studying ingredients that may help support healthy blood sugar, reduce cravings and help your body convert fat into energy Now let me be clear, this isn't for somebody just trying to lose three pounds before a beach vacation. Brickast nutrition created lean for people with ten pounds or more they'd like to lose and who are serious about building healthier habits. And no supplement replaces eating better or getting more exercise. Lean is designed to work alongside those things, not replace them. rightight now you're going to get twenty percent off plus free rush shipping. Dr. Frida, you said you wanted to talk about the economy the I guess the stress at the economy or how the economy may be making us sick Yes. And one When I first became a physician, you know, all bright eyed, bushy tailed, not completely realizing the realities of privilege versus not having privilege, I remember, and there's one patient in particular, I talk about her in my book undernder pressure, Got to controlling high blood pressure. I had told this patient with high blood pressure that she needed to eat, you know fruits, vegetables, everything leafy green, avoid ultra processed foods, you know justust sayy, I told her what to do, she should do it and everything will be fine And when she followed up, her blood pressure was still high. And so I with my little young self is telling her, hey, you didn't do what I said, A B C, and D And she told me that she was down to her last money, her last food stamps, we call it Snap now. And with that, she bought a loaf of bread, a package of processed meat like salami, and like a two liter orange soda, something like that, because that's what she could afford And It let me know right then that need to approach things differently because Right there, it made it clear to me that the economy, what you can afford and what you cannot afford, directly affects your health Right? We're always talking about, oh, everyone should exercise and these you know, people who are on snap, these welfare queens should not be allowed to have sodas with their snap. But guess what? If you're not providing them with the either transportation to get to farmers' markets or wholeo foods, and if you're not providing them with the amount of money that it takes to buy organic foods, leafy green, vegetables, you're sitting there and not really getting the point or perhaps you are getting the point and perhaps the punishment is the point. Perhaps the cruelty is the point when you have a society where the the economy, the socio economic factors imbalance like they are now, those on the lower end of the totem pole The economy affects health. It leads to diabetes, high blood pressure, stress. It's all connected Yeah, and that's and people who are more prone are apt to it are vulnerable to it, I believe would be poor people Yeah and minorities Absolutely, absolutely. When I volunteer, I often go to food deserts and there are different groups that will actually create these gardens in concrete areas and teach people how to garden Why? Because if they don't have cars, they can't drive, you know, to these places with the fresh vegetables and what's in walking distance, places that have ultra processed foods. Okaykay, the local fast food places and even like the big, you know, the big stores they don't have the fresh vegetables. So basically, yes, it's the poor people who are having the poor diets and snap is not making people rich where they just sitting around having, you know, all of the ultra processed foods the sugary drinks because they want it. it's a matter of Are we going to starve or are we not going to starve? You get what you can afford. And oftentimes the ultra processed foods are the things are the items that are less expensive. And so it really frustrates me when we're talking about the economy, you have people at the top who are trying to cut back on the little small pleasures, so they think as far as sugary drinks and ultra processed foods being purchased with Snap. when really what they should be trying to do if they want to help these folks who are in poverty poverty to be healthier and not have diabetes, pererhaps you should stop cutting their Medicare. Stop cutting their Medicaid, stop cutting their Snap benefits, okay? get them out of the food deserts. It's completely performative when I hear people in Congress pretend that they want to stop Snap from paying for sugary drinks because they actually care about the health of the poor is garbage Yeah, and I think that you're so right to talk about it's important to talk about People who are not wealthy poor working class people, not having access to healthcare because it's expensive Medication is expensive And it's not even just poor people. If you have any friends who are entrepreneurs or you know, when you maybe break away from your corporate job where you had insurance and now you're out there on your own and you're trying to, know, start your new business When you try to get insurance just for yourself, It's darn near impossible to be able to still. Don't I know, dor. Frida. Oh, I know. And then pay for and that's my mom would say, I'm not going only paying for myself. I'm paying for everybody else in this house Good insurance. O ye, but it really makes you stop and think, right? So ye And so even if you're an independent person and you have a nice little bit of change some coins to rub together, if now you're employing other people and if you would like for them to have insurance, it's S sometimes impossible to run the business and provide insurance for others. And then if you do, it's It's extremely expensive. So my point is it's not even just the very poor or the, you know the uneducated Oh gosh, I hate saying uneducated becausecause it makes think of Trump. He's like, Ohh, I love the poorly educated the poorly educated. The people who are challenged, you know, economically or in an education fashion, is's even people who are upwardly mobile, educated, trying to be entrepreneurs. The economy gets them too. the health insurance is difficult for them as well. And we have to be careful because it looks like if we don't get things in order, you're going to have the very, very rich and the very, very poor with no one in between. And it kind of seems like that's the point on many days of the current administration Yeah. well and then listen, we're not even bringing in childcare here. A No getting to your job, transportation all the things that they don't consider. Okay, Dr. Freedom, let's talk about what happened in this Air Force Base, okay? Because is Lacklan Air Force Base in Texas after the defefense Secretary, Pete Hgsh made annual flu shots optional Vaccination rates among new recruits reportedly fell from nearly universal to around forty percent. A flu outbreak has now sicken hundreds of trainees Several have been hospitalized and one recruit has died after a medical emergency that remains under investigation. The Pentagon has since restored the flu vaccine requirements for recruits Misinformation. from the top from these people who have no medical licenses, no medical experiences, now deciding the fate of troops and other people in this country and their lack of knowledge or their just belief about what good health carere, what vaccines are about? That's affecting people's health and they are getting sick What happened at Lacklland What happened is that Pete Hegseth was not just wrong He was loud and wrong He made this declaration that he was going to get rid of the absurd overreach of mandates that were unnecessary, including the flu vaccine. He said it with such bravado, with such confidence, and it's as if he never heard of the Germ theory Once he got rid of the mandate, as you mentioned, it went from the U.S airmen and the trainees having practically one hundred percent of them getting the flu vaccine to forty percent. And now the number is in the high two hundreds of confirmed cases of the flu And yes, you're right. O person actually passed away, It's not confirmed, but he did pass away during the flu outbreak And what Pete Hexeth has to understand is that that mandate, specifically when you're talking about the flu, The flu is always around. Yes, we talk about flu seasons and when the flu is peak, but it's always around. And when you are dealing with people who are in close quarters like troops when they eat together, they drink together, they bathe in close quarters, they talk together. Flu is a virus that is so highly infectious that even before you realize that you're sick, even before you have any symptoms, you can be contagious for up to forty eight hours before that. And so that is why military troops who are in lockstep and close together all of the time are so vulnerable to the flu. And so if you imagine, because he talked about, making sure what the Department of war and we want to be so strong, imagine being somewhere in combat and everyone gets the flu just because they did not get the flu vaccine, which has already been proven over the years You're dealing with people who are in high positions who are woefully unqualified. And he loves to get up there and scream about DEI when he is I'm really upset about this, this flu when he is literally killinging our troops through his ignorance and his arrogance Well, he put out a video on. remember he put this video out as if it was something to be proud of And everyone, every medical person I know said, this is extremely dangerous what he's doing right now and he doesn't understand what the consequences could be. And now he does. But the question is, do you think he has learned his lesson from the? and do you because I think RFK probably weigh in on this. Robert Kennedy Jr. is a headad of Health and Human Services. I would think that he would weigh in on this, but do you think that they've learned their lesson No. No, in order to learn a lesson, it requires at least a baseline level of intelligence. And at this point, I'm not humilating. Yeah, I think they're ignorant. And ignorant to a degree, because it's been shared by RFK Jr. even though he's highly anti vacs, it's been shared by some his family members that he's gotten his vaccines and his children. Now let me tell you I'm lookingicking at odds. Doctor. Literally is a cardiothoracic surgeon. He has had board certifications. There are certain standards that he had to maintain to get to where he is Prior to the germ theory and people recognizing that infections like the flu can kill, you know, peopleople who were doing surgeries like Dr. Oz understood that prior to sterile procedures, folks died. So if no one else respects infectious disease in the germ theory, a surgeon does. And so RFK Jr Pete Hegsa. In my opinion, they are unqualified for their position, specifically to speak on the medicine of it. okay? Pete Headseth has no business speaking on the flu vaccine mandate But is Dr. Oz I want to hear what he has to say because He hasn't just learned from what happened. I guarantee you, he knew without a shadow of a doubt that this was an abominable idea to remove flu vaccines. I just want to know does he have the courage to actually share this information in private? becausecause he certainly doesn't share it in public. So the question is is that people are using people think that politics are more important U than actual medical evidence. So What happens when politics starts outweighing medical evidence When politics becomes more important than medical evidence, people die That's it That's the short of it. We've already seen the measles vaccine and RFK junror saying, oh, you know, let that be a shared decision. Pe don't have to have measles vaccines and what happened? We had the highest number of cases of measles in this country that we've had in thirty years. For over thirty years, it's been low. We actually eradicated the measles, okay? The measles vaccine works. The measles vaccine is safe You have the political punits coming out and speaking against it. We get the measles. Take a look at diptheria. Oh, in your home state, Louisiana, we had all kinds of Dhherior perotests, those vaccines were decreased. And so we had the whipping cough in just amounts that we haven't had in years. Even Senator Cassidy publicly spoke and begged RFK Jr. to encourage people to get those vaccines. that he's another Be let me tell you He knows better. He is a physician, he is a liver doctor. I'm talking about Cassidy. And yes, now that he was primary and he won't be a senator, now he wants to speak out to a certain degree. But in his case, again, politics came before medicine, if something doesn't stop peopleople will die And the flu it's not just a matter of, oh, well let's get a couple of sniffles and oh everyone gets better. Flu has been responsible for some of the largest pandemics in history, like the nineteen eighteen Spanish flu, right, where they estimate anywhere from fifty million to one hundred million people die It's serious, it can cause encephalitis, it can cause pneumonia, it can cause respiratory failure. And the reason that a lot of people don't know this It's because we've had vaccines and you don't see it get to that point Keep playing around with history and it will show you itself again For people who are watching who may feel overwhelmed by all of it, right? byy the news, by the economy, by the daily stress of this moment What is is there one thing that they can do to protect not just their mental health but their physical health as well Yes Uh, you know I would love to say walk away from it at all and don't listen to the news and don't ingest information, but we absolutely have T the TV off. Turn the TV off. We have to be informed. But what I like about like when you say turn the TV off, We need to take things in doses. And I see now that you have your what? You're lucky seven where you're giving people information in doses where you're hitting hard. We're getting all the real information B It's in a way that you can say, okay, I'm going to Digest news from this hour to this hour and then I'm going to go about my day. I'm going to work, take care of that, you know, take care of my kids, go for a walk, maybe get my nails done, maybe go out to eat and kind of laugh with the girls you know at dinner. You have to walk away and take care of your mental You don't have to unless it's your job, be on the phone knowing every piece of breaking news that comes in. that's not sustainable. It's not sustainable to mental health And so bottom line Stay informed, but take it in doses and always prioritize your health And I don't care even if you're a caregiver and you've got, you know for a lot of us in the sandwich generation. You have kids you're still taking care of trying to get g out the house, and you have parents who start to become older, you know, and start meeting more having more needs. Even if you're the caretaker of everyone around you Pause walk away, takeake care of yourself Because if you don't take care of yourself, you might not be around to take care of other people. Prioritize yourself. That's my message. That's why I said being informed,'s basically what you said, Be informed without being inundated. So you can read a newsletter, you can sign on to a newscast or whatever it is or read a newspaper or a post online or whatever, but you don't have to sit there all day with it on and you're listening to it and it's just making you crazy. That is a part that I mean by Be informed without being inundated because people are inundated right now. They are stressed out The world is going to be there when you turn that television back on R. So that's why I say, be informed, I being inundated until I see you Back here at what time, if whenever you want to tune in Then you turn and then I say, turn the TV off So I would say set a schedule for when you want to tune in or not or set an alert for, you know, something that may inform you, but you don't have to just sit there all day because I've been there And my mom was there. and I told my mom now I'm like, okay, turn the TV off and she does Except her TV now goes on oxygen, or she'll go on one of cllassic movies or she'll put it on We TV or something And that's great until she's ready to tune back in again. And I think that most people need to be disciplined with their intake, their media diet so to speak. Yes. Pe probably think all I do is sit around and fussing about RK Jr. and the, you know different infections and and really sad stories like you might have heard about the two five year old twins who drowned. I do, you know, You know I do those things. I make sure, you know, that I inform the public for medicine. But when I turn that off, when I tell you I watched Real Housewives of Atlanta I go I watch I'd be ashamed to tell you all the stuff I watch. thingsings that just make me laugh. A an elementary, I'm not ashamed of that. No matter what your job is, you have to check out and just kind of T your brain off. You need to turn your brain off And just lam. I get it. lookook, for me, it is law and order R? The original my favorite The original Yes. The original Chong and And I'm like okay, and it's like it's come on I' be like o, I've seen this one before four times, but you know what? I'm still gonna to watch it because I love it. And then there's a new one. This sounds weird. On Netflix, I don't know if you remember, there was a show called South Lland. It was a police drama, and it was based in Los Angeles. and it was one of my favorite shows and it was on Regina King was in it. I don't know if you remember this. And Michael Codz, I believe is in it. And when I it is just such a great show. I'd never really found an audience. It was on NBC and then it was on Turner or T andT or whatever, Turner And it was just a really great show. And so I watch it. I take these shows that were on like thirty Rock and I start watching them from the beginning and I get into them Yeah. And then it's like I just don turn my brain off You know what I'm saying? But the one thing that you talked about, which I think is interesting when you mentioned drowning and you mentioned children, two stories that I've been concerned about, two the drowning of kids. and I'm always telling my family members and my nieces, lock the door. Get an alarm on the pool Don't let the kid be around the pool giveive them swim lessons, teach them the importance of water safety. And the other thing I see the children's diets. I don't know if you saw this kid This kid died, I think he was I forget how old he was maybe seven years old. He was a young kid and he was eating such poor food and he was so overweight that he died from a heart attack or heart disease And the family was happening to be hoarders and all that. But I see so many overweight kids when I'm like, Get these kids, make them eat a salad, notot all the time. You can go to McDonald's or whatever, have a hamburger sometime, but everything in moderation and make them get their butts outside of the house and go run around Go ride a bicycle You know what? And get off of the device Yeah It starts with the parents because you know, getting back to the drowning, parents who don't know how to swim have children who don't know how to swim, and we could take it all the way back to the racial disparities of like my dad and my mom weren't allowed to go to the public pool. So then you gain a. Not only that, they weren't allowed to go to the public pools. they were filled in with dirt or concrete so that they couldn't go to the public pools. but sorry, go ahead. Yeah. So then so then you so then you have adults who don't have a swim. So then of course, they have a fear and they teach that fear. children. And so then what happens fast forward? Now when it comes to black children between the ages of five and nine, they are two point six times more likely to die from drowning compared to white children. Black children between the ages of ten to fourteen are three point six times more likely to die from drowning when compared to white children. economy Hello economy. If you don't have a pool in your backyard or a lovely gated community with a pool, how are you going to learn how to swim? If your mama can't drive you or take off for to drive you to swimming lessons, how are you going to learn if can't afford swim lessons if you can't afford to you know buy the towel, or if your mama presses your hair and says she doesn't want your hair to revert to afro, and she teaches you not to get in the water It goes so, so, so it's just deeper and deeper and deeper. But bottom line Not only do children need to learn how to swim The adults need to face the fear and take lesson The adults need to face fear because adults who can't swim have children who can't swim And it's taking lives, you know, right now, summertime and cookout time. Yeah That's why That's why I'm saying a doctrine Doctor, I'm so glad you informed us. You informed us without inundating us But I'm happy that you're telling us about how this administration is making us unhealthy and that you're being very honest about it. And they really are. There's so much bad news that comes out every single day and that is their strategy is to bombard with bad news. And also I do also believe that we're living inside of the head of someone who's not all there And so we're having to suffer the consequences Can I tell you one thing I was on the a Trevor Noah show and this is related to this. V it. you saw it and they were like, Well, Don, I can't believe that you are the age that you are One thing is that I don't let shit worry me, right? becausecause whatever it is going to be it's going be. I mean, look, it's normal. Some things do get to me. The other thing though is that The key, if you want to like look young and I notice when I go to class reunions I haven't in a while or I see my classates mates. It's not being obese It's staying Thin and healthy. And I say I said I said, I don't really have a secret. It's just that I try not to O eat I eat whatever I want If I wantan to go to McDonald's Burger King, get some Popeye chick and I do it, but I get I eat it in small portions Right? in moderation. and then and then I just go and overdo it on some salad and I'm like, okay, that should have wiped it out. But also you don't have to be in the gym all day You can just walk to where you want to go, right? O do something get in a pool if you can swim and just swim around or just do something active. That's really my secret rightight there is this Don't eat so much what works for you? Like for some people, they cannot go and have a little moderation because they have all or none personalities. And so you have to identify what your personality is, right S people ye. so But to your point You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to be the perfect gym rat. You don't have to be taking every peptide and every vitamin or supplement that the and counting your calories and watching this and watching that. justust say, okay, I've had enough. I'm full. ye And then there's also a balance as you, you know keep yourself from being someone who's living with obesity Don't go too far and get gaunts because then you can start looking like Meghgan Kelly and just looking mean and skinny So there's an bance. We need to talk about GLP one s next in our next conversation about weight loss drugs. That's your specialty It is, but let me tell you how badly we need to talk about it. A seventy nine year old has received the FDA compompassionate Youse. or And one that has not yet been FDA approved. He's seventy nine years old. He has obesity, pulmonary hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, and it is believed that he is in a very high level He was seventy nine in April And so of course, there have been some suspicions that it is Trump. He's denied it. The White House has denied it. It's bre news. I talked about that with your friend, Jen Welch. So yes, they were wondering is it Trump? Is he on a special dr? Bab W Stet is crazy . Never mind him, but it is kind of very exciting science that R tatroride and how you know the original Magus hide was just a GOP one.
