Trump's FIFA Drama & A Tragic Break in the Nolan Wells CaseJul 6, 2026 — starts at 0:00

Good evening everybody. Welcome to Lemon Live at five. Thank you for joining us. And happy that you're here, but man, boy, do we have a lot of news for you involving Athletics involving The World Cup or FIFA, as you call it. the hypocrisy around it, especially from the president of the United States and his whole birthright citizenship thing. And then we have an update on Nolan Wells, who is the teenage star athlete. in Mississippi who went missing on this trip with his classmates. This is a very handsome young man U again, a star athlete And we have some updated breaking news. We just spoke with someone involved in the investigation And they are going to update us on the situation happening in this moment And justust remember things are happening. U, in real time, There's a lot to discuss. Make sure you hit the like and the thumbs up. Again, it's in Mississippi in Mississippi. I don't know if I miss mstated because the people who are looking for him, many of the people who are looking for him are from Louisiana The Cajun Navy, which is based out of Louisiana, which is a neighboring state And we are going to talk to people involved now in this search And sadly, they have found a body, and we're going to update you on that But I need to tell you about the most and we have a guess it's going to come in just a moment. I need me tell you about the most perfect piece though of American hypocrisy that you're ever going to see this time. Tonight at eight PM Eastern in the United States is going to play Belgium in the World Cup round of sixteen. It's going to be round of sixteen in Seattle Um win and it is a quarterfinals, lose and it's over The man taking the field tonight is in Americ is America's greatest hope The man with three goals, the leading score U, the reason that this country suddenly cares about soccer And I'm talking about Valarian Balligan Or they call him Flo Balligan. That's him right now, man. this is what a cool dude Like and thumbs up, please. it does affect the algorithm and let me know where you're streaming from So I know that you guys have look, two different things. We' going to tell you about these two black athletes. I know you guys feel a certain kind of way about what's happening in Mississippi with the young man who's missing and I know you're feeling aertain kind of aboutlow Balligan. Donald Trump personally called FFA to make sure that he could play Really? someone who's a birthright citizen Now, here's what really matters. It's why it's not just a sports story is why that That is the story of America in twenty sixteen. okay? This is why that is the story of America in twenty sixteen, told in one phone call Polarian Baligan was born in Brooklyn, july third, two thousand one, Nigerian parents of Uruba. hereritage who were living in New York at the time One month after he was born His family moved to London So he grew up in England developed at the Arsenal Academy, right? That's where he was sent. and then look, you know, he was at Arsenal became one of the best strikers in French football, signign for Morocco for forty million euros He's a big deal. All right, And then in May of twenty twenty three, he chose to represent the United States over England and Nigeria chose to represent us chose to represent us He could have played for three countries. He chose us, America Under Trump's own birthright citizenship executive order The one he has been fighting in federal court after federal after federal court Feder court after federal cour eighteen months The one the Supreme Court just heard arguments on, the one that says children born in America to parents without permanent legal status are not automatically Americans. think about that. Donald Trump has been fighting for that And then flow Balligan under that might not be a legal American citizen under Trump's own policy. I don't think he would consider him an American citizen So let's just say that he was born here to Nigerian parents who were living here at the time temporary That is the exact scenario that Trump's executive order targets. the exact scenario his Justice Department has been arguing in court. should not produce automatic citizenship. the exact kind of American his administration has been trying to make Eist And guess what When it is time when he is useful to America. When he is useful to this president, his sinking and flagging poll numbers When he gets booed at the NBA finals in front of the world and his buddy who owns the stadium Now he is counting on a win to help him. and his standing a win that could be produced by Phlo Balligan, except he is fighting for Phlo Balligan's non existence in America So Trump is calling Thiefa to save him Now let me say that again. The president, who has spent eighteen months in court trying to erase birthright citizenship, personally call the PA President to make sure a birth rightright citizen playing for the United States World Cup team Now how do we get here becausecause it is really important how we get here. Balgan Flow, as they call him. scored his third goal against Bosnia last Wednesday tied Landon Donovan for the second most goals by an American at a single World Cup Only Bert No in nineteen thirty scored more and then in the sixty fourth mininute. VAR Bar Unite reviewed. a challenge And it showed him a straight red card, right? What does that mean? if it's a straight red card Automatic one match suspension He was He's going to miss Belgium. fix this because I think we're issue And then the phone started ringing at FIFA headquarters Commerce Secretary Howard Luttnk, who was sitting next to Infantino, right, who was in charge at the Bosnia game, immediately started making calls And then Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House World Cup Task Force, pulled in Trump aligned lawyers and pressure FIFA. And then Trump himself called in Fantino on Thursday, confirmed Monday from the Oval Office Now here's exactly what Trump said He said, I asked for a review because I didn't think it was a foul. And then in the same breath, he said, I had nothing to do with the decision Check out this report A red card one game suspension given to US forward Flleran Baligan during the World Cup game against Bosnia Herzegovina has been lifted after US President Donald Trump intervened. According to a source speaking on condition of anonymity, Trump had called FIFA President Gianni Infantino after the game asking FIFA to review the Rd card. FIFA later announced that the suspension had been lifted, allowing Balligan to play against Belgium on Monday. The Rd card had been handed to Balligan in one of the World Cup's most controversial and consequential decisions with the referee only showing it after watching a video review. The decision has provoked outrage from Belgium's team, the Royal Belgian Football Association, and from the European soccer body UEFA, who said the ruling was incomprehensible, unjustifiable, and had crossed a red line. So that's the report And then Donald Trump confirmed the call and then denied the outcome In the same sentence because he wants credit without accountability the way that he always does. And then FIFA quietly announced on Sunday the suspension was lifted. first time since nineteen sixty two that a red card has been overturned mid tournament. Belgium was astonished. Their coach, Rudy Garcia said that he didn't know that july fifth was April Foolsday. And Wayne Rooney called it an absolute disgrace, said that Infantino should be ashamed. Gary Neville said it was absolutely awful that it stinks And the UEFA called it unprecedented, incomprehensible, and unjustifiable said FIFA crossed a red line with the red card announcement or reversal Isn't this all what Trump is all about He makes the rules for himself and then he wants everybody else to follow rules that he doesn't follow Belgium, of course, appealed. FIFA rejected the appeal without providing any explanation or reasoning and Belgium still not received a copy of the decision The rules are the rules until the Pident of the United States calls Th the rules are whatever he needs them to be. Remember, they gave him that award, right? Now Gianni and Fantino. just to understand who this man is. He gave Trump the inaugural FifA Prize Peace Prize last year after Trump spent years chasing the Nobel Peace Prize and never got it. And Ventino gave him a consolation prize and gave him fifteen thousand dollars in tickets to FIFA Club World Cup final, the World Cup fininal at Met Life Stadium and then took his call and changed the rules of the World Cup Here's the deepest hypocrisy of all Flo Balligan is the immigration story Trump has been trying to destroy His parents came here. they had a baby. that baby became an American That American grew up to represent this country on the biggest stage in the world, three goals Second most and single in a single World Cup by any American in ninety six years face of America to the rest of the planet right now a birthright citizen. That is birthrights citizenship working exactly the way it was designed to work That is the fourteenth Amendment fourteh Amendment that is the Dred Scott decision doing exactly what Reconstruction intended it to do saying if you were born here You are from here full stop, No asterisks, no database checks, no phone calls to FIFA to verify your parents' immigration status before we let you play And the man trying to gut that amendment in court needed that amendment's beneficiary to save his World Cup You can't make this shit up So I want to say some of the people are going to argue it, well, the red card was harsh and Trump just was supporting an American athlete This is different from immigration, you're going to say. It is not different That is the whole point. You can't argue in federal court that Flow Balligan's birth in Brooklyn to Nigerian parents does not automatically make him American and then call FIFA to make sure that he can play for America You can't have it both ways. Either birthright citizenship is real and Ballagan is American and deserves to play, or it is not, and he is not. and Trump has no business making that call. So that's where we are right now in this moment of hypocrisy and racism in America Wh exactly is a citizen, who exactly gets to play who exactly has the right to exist Jamelle Hill is here, author, sports journalist, and contributing writer at the Atlantic. I can't wait to hear what she has to say and to discuss the hypocrisy surrounding this. Maybe you don't think it's hypocritical I don't know what you think, Tamel but I'm glad you're here to discuss What's up, my friend? Good to see you, Don. Yes, it's hypocritical, but it's also completely in line with history. One thing that we definitely know about this country and the history of this country and the history of sports in this country is that there has never been an issue. Black folks entertaining the masses when it comes to athletics and sports. there's a lot of things um that have overlooked or done just because at the end of the day, you know, America wants to keep winning. they want to be dominant in sports. and so They don't even understand the cognitive dissonance that they're doing. It's like Falarn represents a lot of immigrants. I mean, he just happens to be very gifted at soccer And they don't see They can't make the connection or don't want to make the connection. that This is what you deprive the country of when you have such a hardlin racist, white supremacist stance on immigration But this is also showing why spports is uniquely positioned to have these conversations is that you can now have that conversation with Americans who might think otherwise And, you know after they're rooting for Team USA want to say, Ohh, no, no, but we can't let anybody in here. Okay, well, if you don't. then you're going to miss out. on what immigrants and what citizens are not necessarily immigrants. I mean, he was born in the United States, but you're going to miss out people like him can contribute to this country because you're so caught up and Wh gets to be called in America and who doesn't? And we know generally when you talk about who doesn't We know who you're referring to because if this is always if this is about this shutting down this industry of people coming here purposely having babies on U.S.O soil so that they can um be American citizens there's some There's quite a cottage industry of Russians who do this as well and other nations who do this, but they seem to want to pinbak They're not they're not black They're not black. Exactly. like exactly. They're not black so then really what this is about. It's not about who gets to be an American? It's about the fact that you only want certain people to be an American. Okay, well, you're going to lose out on sports, culture, all these things that all of these people can contribute. So hoping that the Americans who will be cheering for Team USA can draw that connective tissue I'm so glad you said that because when you look at look at the history of sports, when you at the folks, you know, the u shut up in dribble crowd or politics should not be in sports. We go to ges games because we don't want to have to deal with it, but then they cheer when Donald Trump comes you know, to a UFC game or like, oh my Godd, I'm so glad that he put on this UFC thing at the White House. And then they say shit about the former, you know first lady and they make it about politics, but when they want to make it about politics, but sports is always about everythingvery is politics Everything is race in this country, everything is politics. So that whole bullshit about we don't want politics and sports, again, it's bullshit And Donald Trump is a hypocrite around this. Yeah, they don't want politics and sports until the president can call FIFA and maybe in some ways uses influence to get them to change a decision that was wrong. I mean, I mean to be fair is that you know, I think the way FIFA chose to correct it was sloppy But the fact is it did need to be correct and Falarne did not deserve the red card. But putting all that aside As you know, Don, the The people who want to hypocritically argue that politics and sports don't go together. It's not really the politics. It's like the politics they agree with, they're fine with them going together. So they're entirely fine with Donald Trump inserting himself in this situation, but at the same breath they want to tell you politics and sports though mix becausecause the politics that are being expressed on you know, by someone else are things that they don't necessarily agree with you know, like a Coolin Kaepernick, right? It's like, o it's free speech and all that if You know, Nick Bosa, who is the defensive player for San Francisco defensive in that if he comes to an interview with a make America G hat on or showing that in ABC interview, that's totally fine Uh it's fine too for, you know, players for the San Francisco Giants to wear religious messages on Frid night, those kind of politics, and I hesitate to put them into the bucket of politics, but that's fine because they agree with them It's just they know that sports and politics have always been mashed together. They just don't like it when it's politics they don't agree with So Colin Kapperan can't kneel on the field. But Tim Tibbo can kneel in the end zone. Or Tim Tibbo can cut a Super Bowl ad about being pro choice R? It's like what you did. Like him and his mom cut a Super Bowl ad about being pro choice. and that's totally fine. So again, it always goes back to do I agree with this or not? That's what determines whether or not pololitics are acceptable in sports. And so in this way, I'm glad the politics are missing are matching together, excuse me with the situation with Team USA because it has a possibility opening up a different kind of conversation about birthright citizenship and for that matter, how we feel about who gets to be an American in this country Jamele, I want to table that just for a second. That's an important story, but this is also a really important story. And I'm talking about Nolan Wells, the young man out of Mississippi who went missing And according to the reports and the people we have spoken to, they have found a body. We're also told, again, this is according to the reports that they believe it's his body But they don't know the exact circumstances of his death star athlete. u and just an exceptional young man But this story has been gaining traction on the internet. He went missing on the fourth of July. Are you following this story and what do you have to say about? Yeah, following it very closely because I think what immediately strikes people are the optics. I mean, as you mentioned a second ago, Don, everything in this country is about race. whether we can run for that all we want, but that's just the truth. And I think a lot of people are reacting, especially black folks with a raised eyebrow or two raised eyebrows because O of the photos that have circulated are the people he was with on the boat. And so he's the only black person on this boat. It's a bunch of white people. where' everybody's wondering Okay How do you go missing? I believe this happened on the fourth of July? How do you go missing that afternoon and no one's seeing you? You get separated from one of your friends that you were there with. And no one knows what happened And so immediately sort of like the spotty senses go up. And especially since there have been other cases of where you had Back people in a situation where they were the minority and came up missing or dead. And So I think there's just a raised antenna right now where we're trying to get to the bottom of like what happened to this young man. And I certainly don't want to I don't want to indict the people that he was with you know, I'm not a detective on the ground. We're only going by the information that we've been told, but seeing that photo right there There's going to be some skepticism, some wariness, some fear that a lot of black folks are looking at this and saying Okay what happened? and I think it's our job to raise questions. That doesn't mean to make, you know, the innocent people guilty or anything like that, but I think it's fair for us to raise questions and to wonder some things, especially since we've seen other cases of black people going missing. And there being a disbelief as to onnce there was a cause of death, like us being confused about like how exactly did this happen and why? Yeah, I mean, but as of now you have a family that's lost someone a loved one that they really cared about. I saw the message that his mom gave and I'm just I just feel devastated, you know, for them. You know, you send your kid out on fourourth of July And the expectation is that they will come home. He's going to a very popular late. There was nothing to indicate that he should not have made it home that night And he didn't. And so I really feel sorry for this family as they're having to navigate through this Um And I'm sure that this is going to turn into Pb I mean, it's already become a national story. And so they're already trying to navigate grief. Now it's going to be a considerable amount of media interest and it's just something that you just wouldn't wish on anybody They talked about what a great guy he was, how people liked him, how he was close to his mom None of the you know, he didn't exhibit any hostile type behavior. He was just an all around good guy Jamel. Man awful Thank you for coming on and talking about discussing these stories. and we can always get Jemelle at the Jemelle Hill Show right on the YouTube. I would encourage you to go subscribe to Jemelle' S show and also become a member, just like you're a member of this show. Independent journalism, independent media, very important in this moment because we see what's happening out in the traditional legacy media. And so we appreciate folks like Jamel and all of our friends, Joy and Jim and everybody who's out here fighting on these independent streets. So thank you All. Thank you, Don. I'm a limit head First and foremost. I'm a toamail head. I don't know if you have a hill head or I'm on a hill, whatever it is. a workshop name. I gota workshop a name. I'm working. All right. I had to go to a conference in France and I just stayed a couple more days and you know, did a little But it was you couldn't help it. It was one hundred and ninety five degrees over there. It was like the hottest No seriously, it was really freaking hot. It was like most of the peopleeople were jumping into the rivers to stay cool and drowning. I mean, it is crazy Welluck Luckily you're from New Orleans, so you're kind of accustomed to or Louisiana, I should say, areren't you accustomed to Oh yeah I'm also accustomed to air conditioning so that it's so cold it's foggy inside. I. All right, Dad, takeake care. You'd be well. Thank you very much. We are going to continue the story and we're going to talk more about this young man who it iss just It's just an awful story, know and well story coming up in just moments with a special guest, but first we're going to get a word in from our sponsors Let me ask you a question. If somebody offered you a guaranteed twenty five percent return on your money, you'd probably take it, right But if you're paying twenty five percent interest on a credit card balance, you're already giving somebody else that return every single month That is money that could be staying in your pocket. A lot of homeowners tell themselves, well, they can't do anything because they arere locked in a great mortgage rate. I understand that But keeping a low mortgage rate doesn't erase high interest credit card debt. And that's why American Financing offers its smart equity loan qualified homeowners can use their equity to pay off expensive debt while keeping their existing first mortgage in place Customers save an average of about eight hundred dollars a month And there are no upfront fees just to see what you qualify for Interest is either working for you or working against you.s worth finding out which one applies to your situation You should call this number It's eight, eight eight, six, seven, five four zero nine zero That's eight, six seven five, four zero nine zero. or you can visit Americanfinancing dot net slash lemon Brian Trasher joins us from the United Cajan Navy Search and Rescue effort to talk about the search and rescue effort for Nolan Wells on Horn Island, Mississippi. Nolan Xavier Wells, eighteen years old Ocean Springs, Mississippi former Ocean Springs High School, football standout, now a freshman wide receiver at Southwest Mississippi Community College That's the story we're telling. went missing at Horn Island And now Brian, as we are taping this, body has been found and we understand that the sheriff has confirmed that it is his body. Yeah, that is my understanding. I knew that the I actually saw the body and it matched the description of Nolan. And then of course, I found out later that the authorities did notify his mother that they that they had indeed found his remains So he went missing, I believe, on the fourth of July, correct? That's correct Okay. so he traveled to this island by boat. with a group of friends He became separated from the group as the afternoon went on and he never reunited with them do you think happened So based on some second and third handand eyewitness testimony and people who talked to folks that were there Nolan was at Horn Island. it's a barrier island off the coast of Biluxi, maybe ten, twelve miles south. very very popular place for boaters to go and for recreational purposes. He had been there a lot with this regular friend group many, many times. and sometime in the afternoon, his group decided they were going to depart the island. Aarent according to them, he had was talking to some other friends and he didn't want to leave yet and he told them that he would get a ride back with another boat I think according to his friend group, they didn't think much of it. sometometimes that happens. They took off and then later found out that he never did get off the island Okay So Take a please through the moment when you got the call Yeah. and and join the search. What were they telling you? Was it just a missing person U They tell you it was a man overboard They tell you, what do they tell you So late in the afternoon on fourth July, I got a call that we had a report, a request come in from either family or friend that a young eighteen year old Mail had gone missing. He was last seen on Horn Island, that he was with friends and that the story we got that was truncated at the time was that he was supposed to be he did not come back with his his friend group that he showed up with. He was supposed to get a ride with another boat never ended up on that boat either and nobody can find him Nobody could find him does this sound Fishy to you, this sounds suspicious I think given the circumstances of how crowded it was on a holiday, And matter of fact, the rescue specialist that volunteers with us Um, guy named Alex, He was out on on his boat yesterday And he actually was there on fourourth of July. He remembers seeing Nolan and his friends walk past his boat several times and they just look like, you know, a bunch of young kids having a good time And that's when he first called me and said, Hey, I saw this kid yesterday let me, let me go help try to find him. And we had him and we had another actually a member of law enforcement who' on his day off serve as a drone operator went with Alex and they spent all day out there yesterday looking and didn't find anything. That's why we decided to put up a fixed wing aircraft this morning, try to cover more ground So you did this morning, but again, now they have have confirm that it is his body. How does Accidents do happen. I don't we don't know what it was at this point. But can how does one get separated from You know, with a group of people like that, let's just say that he's on a boat It seems like someone would have noticed that he If he was man overboard or you know what I'm saying? Yeah wasn't a strong swimmer, he wouldn't be out trying to swim towards something that You know, he's not strong doing Right. I think that I think it would have been strange if his group left and then all of a sudden noticed that he wasn't there. But apparently there was an interaction and a request by Nolan to stay behind. And again, you have to understand, you know, these barrier islands, it's a heavy recreational area. If you don't have your own boat, you're catching a ride with somebody, you might know somebody else that's out there. You might catch a ride back with somebody else That's not that uncommon. However What is uncommon is the fact that he never did get as far as we understand, he never got on this other boat that he believed he was going to have a ride back with and then ended up washed up on the Northwest tip beach this morning no longer alive. All that somewhere between his friends bidding him a due and this morning, a lot of bad things happened So there was a request you believe by Nolan to stay behind That was what I was told. Yeah, that he had started talking to some some young ladies and they had a boat and apparently he thought he could get a ride back with them. He wanted to hang back. with them a little longer and not go back with his friend group And so they said, okay, cool, we'll we'll catch you back at home And and then apparently and then I did hear a story that This other boat actually by the time he got back to them that they had started to depart and that again, it's a speculation that he might have gotten into the water and started trying to swim to the boat Um, and there was a heavy rip that afternoon. But again, if he would got carried out by Rriip or somebody knew he got into the water or saw him in distress. We're talking about a very athletic young man. so it, you know, it would he would have a fighting chance, but still if the rip was strong enough, seems like somebody would have noticed somebody have said, Hey, look, he tried to get to this boat and never made it U rather than just, you know, saying, oh, we can't find him. We don't know where he's at. Now I've been looking at social media, I don't know if you have as well. Have you seen some of the reports on social media? There are people who are saying, well,, look, he's the only black guy with all of these white kids and they're insinated like something nefarious. happened or could have happened. What do you make of these againg, these are social media reports.. Is there should they be taken seriously at all? Was there any reports of an argument or confrontation or some animus between him and other people there I'm going to treat that as two separate questions. The first question is, you know, being the only black guy in a group, this was his regular friend group going back to high school. Mly white kids that he grew up with, played football with hg out with. If you look at his own and the otherthers social media, they have been together a lot of tim socially. They've been to that island together a lot of times based on their own social media history. Now going back to the second part There were rumors that that some kind of fighter argument broke out, but I never did get the story of Wh and then I did hear from I did hear from one of the parents. they said, yeah, there was a fight that broke out on the island, but it had nothing to do with them. It was with different group U againain, all come in second hand. so I cannot independently confirm any of that All I know is that Nolan did not get back on the boat. He showed up on and he either didn't make it ono the boat that he thought he was going home on or just didn't make it home and unfortunately didn't make it at all Anything like this you recall anything like this ever happening on Horn Island Oh, yeah. we get reports. I mean, we just recovered a fisherman a shrimper that went off of a boat near Pasagouula and washed up on Chandelier Island just a few weeks ago. Mr. Lam Truck professionalcial commercial fishermen. So that was an MOB deal And unfortunately, he perished, but we did recover his remains on Chandelier Island. So people do go missing. We get called a lot sometimes just to assist either local law enforcement or the Coast Guard. Coast Guard has a policy of, you know, suspending a mission after forty eight hours if they find no proof of life. And that's usually when they'll call us and ask if we can pick it up and let them know if we find any reason for them to reengage. And that's just, I mean, they're a military agency. That's their policy. And so we're happy to to kind of fill that gap and help them out In this case, I think that all agencies were still actively because we were still inside that forty eight hour window. So they were all still actively searching by by air land and sea And I'm not I haven't got the report of who actually called in U the body being on the beach, but it we flew over it kind of pretty soon after somebody noticed because there was like one or two boats and then within a couple of minutes there was a pretty heavy marine law enforcement presence surrounding the body that on that beach You said MOB, you mean man overboard. Correct I gota these nkam. No Um You know, I know you don't want to speculate, but What do you Having done this for a number of years for a long time, what do you think happened? I think there was a series of unfortunate circumstances and a series of bad decisions that led to this. And I'm not trying to deliberately be vague, but what I'm saying is that I think that there was young people who were, you know, celebrating a holiday, maybe having a little too much fun maybe maybe using some enhanced methods to have more fun and so they weren't thinking clearly. I think that when questions started coming up about what happened to Nolan I think that there might have been some panic that ensued And so some stories started coming out that either didn't make sense or were kind of inconsistent or it could just be Dom the way they were explained to me sounded weird, but but just because I didn't get it firsthand. that happens as well. Um, But the bottom line is that You know, we've gotten very good as an organization of responding to emergencies and finding people who are missing. And we assisted in this particular recovery. and it's just unfortunate that the young man died. There's going to be a lot of time for you know Monday morning quarterback and I know it's corny to use a football analogy. He was a football player, but's be a lot of people that have to answer a lot of questions and there's going to be professional interrogators and investigators that I think is going to make somebody crack and we'll get the real story eventually I mean somebody cracks someone knows something whether it was nefarious or not and they're just not saying it. Yeah, or they're you know. misreembering something and maybe their memory gets straightened out if they get if they get scared enough. And look, we put out a pleading of our own last night say, hey, look, I've gotten a bunch of tips, a bunch of people call me, told me they were there, told me they know somebody was there bunch of different stories. I'm like, look, if you know something, no matter how bad it is, no matter what kind of consequences you think might come out of it I need to know the best intelligence possible. when was the last time Nolan was seen alive and whereabouts was that because that's going to help in my search. I'm putting an airplane up in the air, you know, and it's it's I can't I can't go in vagaries. I have to have a grid to search. So that's what we did last night. Again, there' the There's like several different law enforcement agencies involved in this now They're going to have their experts on it. Again, I really think eventually somebody is going to remember correctly. and tell a story that makes more sense. Why wouldn't at this again, as we are recording this You said that they're not allowing the parents or the mother to see the body. Why would that be My and this is speculation is probably because the sometimes when the condition of the body is poor They don't want to let the parents see it right away. They rather turn it over to the corner and maybe somebody that can that can help make the body look more presentable so that the that's not the last memory that a parent has of their child. That is again, speculation. I know I was told, my incident commander is there with her now in Ocean Springs with the mother And my understanding is that she very much wants to see her son and that the request at this time has not been fulfilled. And again, we're We're speculating that it's because of the condition of the body I can't imagine in something like this, how you even have this conversation with a parent and what they're going through we have them too often, unfortunately, and that's why we have our own in house chaplain, and he's nearby right outside of Mobile, Alabama. And unfortunately, his father just passed away recently. And so I'm not sure if he's if he's going to be up to it, but u But hopefully we'll be able to provide some of the bereavement services that we that we're known for as well through our chaplain or one of his partners Brian Trasher is with the Cajun Navy down in my home state of Louisiana. and look, you guys you're completely volunteer your work, right? That's correct, you do. And with all the water there, I'm sure you deal with satellite situations like this a lot and having dealt with with a drowning in my family You never know. you can be a really strong swimmer And sometimes you know, you get caught in a rip or you, you know, maybe you fall in Um, with your clothes on. And it's too much for you to try to, you know, your boots get filled with water. I mean, all kinds of things happen that lead to the drowning deaths of people. I don't know if it was a drowning. I have no idea exactly what happened, but we're assuming that since it was in you know, boats were involved in the way that we're discussing. You just you just never know in these situations. You don't. That's why you have to be careful You have to keep an eye on your friends if you're going to be out drinking and of course when you're in blistering heat like we're known for down here on the Gulf Coast that that can that can lead to a number of different physical conditions that deteriorate your ability to take care of yourself. You know, if you do a lot of diving like I do, one of the first things they teach is, you know, don't panic, donon't panic because you ph physiologically if you panic, you can't hold your breath as long it as if you're relaxed. so But again again, people get into a stressful situation in the water. O of course, they're going to panic And it just it compounds and make things worse you know, but what we're hoping is that that people take a lesson from this and look, you know, kudos to the the Gulf Coast community Missippi Gulf Coast, we consider that like a sixty fifth parish of Louisiana because we have so much in common with those folks. and every time we go over there, whether it's civilians, law enforcement, the faith community, they embrace us with open arms We worked together side by side. I had volunteers coming out of the woodwork. I had, you know, boat captains using their own vessels, their own fuel. I had, you know, a pilot donated his plane and his time this morning to go flying with me And and go look, and you know, it's just u its it's just a great commity. We tell our governor to annex it but don't think the governorissipp would allow that They got all the casines Look, we don't know what happened. Right. But we certainly our thoughts are with this family Thank you, Brian. I appreciate you joining us Yeah, Don, thanks for reaching out. You know, what's interesting. We've gotten pretty comfortable talking about physical health. People will tell you they're training for a marathon, that they're changing their diet or trying a new workout routine. Everybody applauds that, right? But say that you're thinking about therapy and suddenly people get really, really quiet That doesn't make much sense, not to me at least others who have tried therapy. BetterHel's twenty twenty six state of Stigma repeport found that eighty five percent of Americans believe getting mental health support is a smart decision. But nearly three Out of four also sayays society still discourages people from actually doing it Here's how I look at it. We tell people to listen to their bodies. We should probably start telling people to listen to their minds too Sounds logical to me, right? That's where better Help comes in Their therapists are fully licensed. They'll match you with someone who fits your needs. And if it's not the right fit, switching is simple. More than six million people have used betteretterHelp, and there are over thirty thousand therapists on the platform Don't let someone else's opinion keep you from taking care of yourself ten percent off your first month at betterterhelp d. com slash D Limon. That's better Hlp. com slash D Limon Now here is something that every entrepreneur figures out sooner or later. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later. But Before we go to the website, I just want to say before we go tonight, I just want to leave you with two names of things that we reported. againg, things that you don't necessarily hear of everywhere else. and that is Falar and Balan, born in Brooklyn, to Nigerian parents, a birthright citizen You think about that, a birthright citizen. In this regard, I believe the founding fathers knew what they were doing when they came up with this, or not exactly the founding fathers, but when this was amended, when this was put into practice, when this became the thirteenth and fourteenth ammendment. The son of immigrants whose very citizenship this president has been arguing in court should not exist Three goals at this World Cup, the whole country screaming his name in Seattle tonight. And his president had to call FIFA personally to make sure that he could stay on the field. The man trying to erase birthright citizenship needed a birthright citizen to save America's World Cup. And then we have Nolan Xavier Wells eighteen years old, Ocean Springs, Mississippi, wide receiver, freshman. A young man, his coach said carried himself with humility, treated others with respect, worked hard and led by example. His character spoke louder than his accomplishments. Nolan went to Horn Island for the july fourth weekend with a group of friends only black person they believe in the group. when you look at the photographs. When it was time to leave, his friends went home. Nolan was not with them. Nobody has come forward with a full account of what happened. Nobody has explained why he was left behind or why he chose to stay behind. whatever happened. So this morning a park ranger found a body we are told that it is his, in the water, off the west end of Horn Island. His mother, Christine Walley, wrote I am heartbroken for my sweet son, who was always willing to cheer and uplift others. No one was a special soul. God took his time creating our son Same weekend Same fourth of July. S America at two hundred fifty One celebrated, one gone Both of them black Both of them young. Both of them American, both of them carrying this country's contradictions on their backs without ever asking to. That is the America we live in tonight. The one that calls Flo Ballaggan a hero and cannot answer for Nolan the one that fills stadiums with joy and leaves a boy in the water The one that is two hundred and fifty years old and still cannot protect its black children while it cheers for them. So Ebam Kendy, who I've been speaking to recently, who was on the show not long ago. He's gonna be back on the show soon, said it on Instagram. Too many people are alreadyizing Nolan for going to this island as the only black person with his white friends, implying whatever happened to him is partially his fault. And Kendy said, that is exactly the outcome of internalized racist ideas Anything that happens to us is our fault. Not the person who did this to us, not the racist structure that regularly allows it. We do not know yet exactly what happened on that island. The investigation is ongoing. What we do know is that an eighteen year old black kid went out to celebrate America's birthday with his friends and did not come home So as the rescuer, one of the rescuers said, the people on that island need to come forward now, not tomorrow. now. If you were on Horn Island on july fourth and you saw Nolan Wells or spoke to him or have any photographs or video from that day, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department needs to hear from you. And that number is two hundred two eight. I'll say it slowly because I didn't put it up there. two hundred two eight, seven sixty nine three z six three. If you can get it up quickly, Anie, that would be great. two two eight, or Nikki, seven hundred six nine three z six three. That's the sheriff's department. Call that number. His family deserves answers. His mother deserves answers. His father, Elmore Wansseley, deserves answers. His grandmother who said, now that my grandson has been found, it is time for answers She deserves answers We say both names tonight Palarian Balgan Go get it in Seattle, makeake history, make this country live up to what you represent. And Nolan Xavier Wells, we will not forget you. We will keep asking questions. We will keep saying your name until somebody answers them. eighteen years old, Ocean Springs, Mississippi, gone too soon Rest in power, young man. I have a great nephew about your age. Straight athlete could be any one of them or any one of us So anything you want to know about the show, go to Dlemon d. comot We'll continue to follow both of these stories. While you're there, you can check out Dal Hugleen and I hour or my our schedule, four hour hour what would you call it? Do you wantna call it a world tour? US. tour Check it out. we start on september eleventh. The first show is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Get your tickets now because and don't be bugging me if the tickets run out like they run out and you guys will be saying, o, I didn't get it out We're going to be on fire because're it's leading into the election. We're doing this in part because what? because we want to inform people before the election. I saw that Nikki or someone if you can catch that that one I just saw that said, Darn, damn you or something, Grand Platinner. Yes, we're following that Grand Platinner story that broke. We want to see what happened. Apparently, according to the reports for Grand Platinner U some woman has come forward and said that he forced her to be intimate And now he is reconsidering his campaign. I believe that's the case Right? Am I correct, producers? He's reconsidering Yes. And Kanna and Gallgo just withdrew their support as well Oh boy, Daniel is in Washington. Our Washington DC correspondent is on with us as well. Daniel, what are you hearing Well, hello, Don. Yes. that is the case. He is It was his ex girlfriend that is making that accusation, saying that he sexually assaulted her. That's the accusation. He denies that, but he did release a video saying that, hey, I'm going to stop reflect and try to see what my next steps are. He has a week from today to make a decision And then Don he can decide. if he does drop out, again, the clock is ticking. he's got one week. If he doesoc the Democratic Party of Maine has about two weeks to then name his replacement. So there is still time for him to drop out. Everything I'm hearing that he's going to, that this is pretty damning, even though he is denying it Uh, yeah I mean, this is a tough one because you know, when I saw it, I said, I wonder if this one is going to make a difference because I think he had the sort of support that simimilar to Monbowni, people were behind him one hundred percent, but apparently this one is So serious. I don't know the exact details that he is considering dropping out. like what? and then but if he does That leaves Susan Collins at the top of the off the hill here, right Well again, no, Democrats, there is still time. I think that's why it's critical here because there's still time for him to drop out and as of now. I mean, there's nobody else in there. Yeah. Yeah, there's nobody else in there. So yeah, so as of now, I would leave her. I mean it seems to be the party' no longer behind him. And I think it's just because there's a snowball here, right? It This is not the only sort of accusation against him. We all know about the Nazi tattoo that had to be removed and he's faced other issues in the past. So this is just the latest incident. And I think Democrats are going to have to stand up to say, listen, when there were accusations against President Trump about sexual assault, when there were accusations against Brett Kavanaugh A lot of Democrats said, this is not okay. We should not confirm Kavanagh. We should not elect President Trump. And now Democrats are dealing with it within their own party to say, listen, what should we do with Graham Platinner? It seems he's already losing support, Don. I wouldn't be surprised if we wake up tomorrow and he's already dropped out of his race Yeah, you know, Daniel, I've been hearing people saying and even amongst, you know, when we have our editorial calls, people are saying, why is this the hill that Democrats have to die on? Considering who our president is right now, there's a lot of concernation around this one I mean, but it's just somebody has to be the party that stands up and says, listen, we have to have some morals, some standards. We know Republicans are gonna do it. L Look who they the leader of their party is. I mean That's not going to happen. So I mean, you just think about what happened just a couple of weeks ago with the Obamas and we saw the decorum there and we obviously know the eight years, no scandals. I think One of the parties at least has to be, you know, we just celebrated two hundred and fifty years of the American ideals. One of these parties has to at least stand up and say, listen. We are going to be the party of class and decorum and family and of actual values But you're right. What? I mean, yeah Real quick, why is this one different Is it because of the series because it's an ex girlfriend? like why is it the pylon? Because before, even with all of that, he still got the he still won the primary, Daniel You know. If you knew you you could make a lot of money as a person. I was going to say, listen, Doc, there is going to be a lot of books are going to be written especially by people in education about why this was the turning point. mean I would have to just say it's the snowball effect. It's the okay voters were able to stomach, as we just talked about. Republicans have their own skeletons in their closets. I think Democrats are tired of being the party of class and decorum and of values. So I think Democrats are saying, listen, Republicans are electing the crazies. Let's just go ahead and support this man. And I think even with all the things that came out, Rublic you know we obviously saw that the governor up there, the main governor, she was got a lot of criticism for being too old. She wasn't able to raise enough money. so she had to withdraw her campaign. So Grand Platinner was really the only choice left for Democrats in Maine And they were able to swallow when we talk to voters, we heard the reports, we saw the reports of people saying, listen, I don't love him, but he's really the main choice. But I mean again, after this I think it's just the snowballing effect Donwn that it's just kind of the final straw. Yeah, we're going to be watching that, Daniel. And if he drops out of whatever happens, we may, Daniel and I may be back here tonight talking about it. We're definitely going to talk about. lookook, if you're at a certain tier of our membership, we're about to have a members only stream right after this, we're going to contings le my kidy Okay which obviously better reason to join I'll say something in the private chat that I can't say here.
