Let's just get right to it I think it's an egregiously bad call. It can go Balligan's red card, which is you're going to play a man down. you're suspended for the next game. Now I will say this. Here's the good news. Ricardo Pppi is a capable sccore He scored sixteen goals in the Dutch League. I think they won the Dutch League. He is more than capable to fill in But it felt like to me the referees for about a five minute space got overwhelmed. They they knew they had made a mistake Um H replace systems, VAR, replace systems aren't perfect either And it was clearly incidental Time and stage, World Cup ident. I don't know how you could watch that and think it was intentional I mean, part of the red card is the intention. of the physicality of the foul. That really is the difference between yellow and a red card, not just the severity of it, is it intentional? clearly unintentional. if Balligan tried put his hit him in the heel tww twist his ankle if he tried that one hundred times, he couldn't have done it. So it's just a really bad call. Ricardo Pepe is a substantial capable villain. That's the good news Touisic was a problem for Bosnia and Herzeovina, clearly There there were just there were so many opportunities off sides is off sides. like in both instances it was the correct call. Don't complain about it. You sound like you you Don't jump into the sport and listen, I think it's a little ambiguous You know, stoppage time's a little fuzzy to me, a little gray for my American sports kind of brain, but offsides is offsides Um, you know, I just I look at this and the fact that we can be a man down And Malik Tilman That has to be. You're kind of trying to figure out, all right, what do we do? We're waiting for a signal? Do we Do we remain aggressive there was a couple of minutes there after that really bad red card that you're thinking, okay, we're bailing water a little bit. We got to get our legs here.'re we're not quite We got to figure out what we're doing here. That is real coaching, real time. That's really impressive to me. And again, we couldn't do it with this team four years ago. We're just too young It's all the friendlies, it's all that experience. It's all that European play a real crisis on your hands, and I thought they just handle it brilliantly m I just sometimes I this team continues to surprise me. It just And I'm I went into this World Cup, incredibly optimistic. I was always kind of conservative. Can we' win the group stage or get it through it knockout stage, Can we get a win? We looked, I watched Belgium today scored two goals late eventually scored extra time. I looked at Belgium and I thought, I think we win with Pppi. I really do, but it was an egregiously bad call I mean, it was just an unintentional foul And again, I felt the referees for a space there kind of lost their way. They were a little overwhelmed by it. Even the facial expressions, the body language of the refs didn't feel right. They knew they were they were kind of losing control U, and that crowd Let him have it But I mean overall to score a man down and to eat up the clock that that ten minutes Uh, that's not easy That is not easy to do So I thought the Burhalter has been just a terrific Terrific sub u in a couple of different spots in the World Cup. The GM They obviously wanted Jayen Brown building Jalen Brun I had two NBA. sources tonight, twoo people in the league O an executive, one a scout say that Jayalen Brown has it's a disease He suddenly thinks he's the smartest guy in every room he's in I've worked with people in the media. it's really you get into a really bad space. You make a lot of money. suuddenly you're absolutely sure You don't want to listen your bosses, you don't want to listen to consultants, you don't want to list to temates. Jalen's kind of and by the way, this was one executive told me, this was always a little bit of Jalen Brown's personality, kind of the smartest guy in the room and live streaming and throwing it out there. and that's just not a good space. It used to be Nothing good happens after three in the morning. Nothing good when nothing good happens when pro athletes live stream. It's just trouble. Stay away from it You need PR people. U even even, you know, what I do when you're emotional, when you're in a terrible mood, don't go to live streaming. Don't just riff. It's just trouble and they wanted to get him out, but here's my theory on it Brad Stevens looks at the league And he looks at Denver, Milwaukee And they got a title and they cling to their team. And the new CBA doesn't allow it. He wanted to get Jayleen Brown contontract. And he looked at it and he thought, Okaykay We got our title, Denver got their title Okay he got their title Milwaukee got their title. do Milwaukee, don't do Denver. Cing to your guys. And then you look up a couple of years later and you're trapped or you're too old, but you don't have the assets And he's like, I've got an asset. now iss the time Now is the time. Jayen Brown comes off a great year twenty nine points a game, plays defense. mayaybe the analytic Mavens don't like him We got our title. Now it's time to pivot to the second iteration pursue the next one. And I mean, Mitchell Robinson, I think he hurts the Kicks more than he helps the Celtics, but Mitchell Robinson, Peyton Pritchard, Jason Tatum, Paul, George Um, you know, Derek White You know it's a playoff team in the East, who knows, stay healthy But You know, the chemistry is probably going to be better Paul George, his contract runs out sooner. You probably be able to get rid of him maybe in a year Um But I feel like obviously Brown's better than Paul George at this point. Paul George has durability issues But the reality is what Brad Stevenens is doing is saying I'm not going to be the new NBA The minute you win, you lose people clling and hang on to two guys Tatum and Brown that eat seventy percent of your cap pigs fad hog, slaughter, don't get greed Denvergy L little Dreed. All of a sudden looked up and thought, Murray's getting old Gordon's getting hurt, Yok's getting beat up Oh in This is what Milwaukee did three years for Yon. Middleton gets injured again. And Brad Stehven says, I got two assets I'm going to keep lower maintenance, more skilled M team guy easier to deal with Jason Tatum over Brown, bothoth massive contracts I've got an asset still in his prime.
