The Jay Weber Podcast is a production of iHeartRadio Podcasts. Welcome to the Jay Weber Podcast. Coming up today, I don't know why people won't come out and say it. Graham Plattner's a terrible candidate because he's a terrible person. This man should never hold a public office, and today's Democrat leaders are proving that they have zero morals or scruples anymore. If he will vote the way they want him to in DC, that's all that matters. Also, three huge cheers for President Trump's restoration projects. He should be earning so much goodwill for finally doing what the last forty years of presidents and congresses have not done or didn't think was all that important. I don't care whether you like Donald Trump or not. This is one of those things that a president, any president would be getting credit for I'm not sure I have a segment on the new age of nuclear power and the foolish new scare tactics related to data centers. Bidens are going to have books out soon. Jill's is first, of course, then Joe's, and this is making insider Democrats and their strategists furious. If you think about it, this is just another way that the selfish Bidens are giving a second screw you to the party that propped them up and hid their selfishness and their scandals for fifty years, then dared to ask them to drop out of a race that Joe obviously couldn't handle as a way to try to help the party and perhaps the country. Regardless of what you think about the the Democrats, their platform, their motivations. This party has treated the Bidens extremely well. Party insiders knew and have known that the Bidens have been dirty and corrupt for forty, fifty years. They covered all that up, helped him get into the White House The Bidens are still obviously very angry that they had to go through the embarrassment of having Joe essentially removed from office by his And so not only are they timing book tours during the second half of this year when the general election campaigns are underway, but it looks like the books are gonna trash the Democrat Party as well. Axios and other outlets who've read the galley of Jill's book say that in typical Biden fashion, she blames everyone else except the Bidens for his disastrous presidency and how it ended with their public embarrassment. This is the Bidens trying to restore their legacy after a four year disaster that easily makes him one of the worst presidents in two hundred and fifty years of US history and certainly the worst of the last one hundred years. Apparently Jill is running around telling reporters that her book will quote set the record straight, and instead those who spent years both working for the Bidens and those in the media who spent decades covering the Bidens all seem to be saying this is three hundred pages of lies. Well of course it is. All the Bidens have ever done is lie. They started back in the nineteen seventies with the lie over how the two of them met. They invented a story that didn't make Jill look like a home wrecker, but she was, and the two of them have been lying in concert to America ever since. Fifty years of lies. Why would they be honest now? But here's the thing, all these Democrats are liars. If you worked for Joe Biden, you pretty much had to lie for Joe Biden . If you covered Joe Biden and weren't honest about how you knew this was a corrupt family or how you knew Joe Biden had increasing dementia, you were also a liar, right? So that's not what's making these Democrats angry. What's making them angry is Jill's and presumably Joe's new batches of lies in these books are gonna make the Democrat Party and the top operatives look terrible, right? Because if Joe and Jill expose Kamala as an idiot and blame her for the border All these negative stories are going to be swirling throughout the fall. This is what they're really worried about, and which I think is fantastic. You can see how upsetting it would be to your average Democrat who lied to for years cover up Joe's dementia and terrible decisions and policy choices, nine percent inflation, etcetera. And now they want the American people to quickly forget the Biden years. Are you kidding me? They shove Joe out. The Biden's basically go dark for a year and a half, then pop back up and want to relitigate Joe's presidency in the twenty twenty four election and remind Americans how terrible it all was right before they vote again? Come on. This is wonderful for the Republican Party, but there's no way this is a coincidence . There's no way that well, you know, it just took this long to get the books together and so we've decided to release them now. Not a chance. The release of these books and the resulting book tours from these two nasty old A-holes are intentionally free The first was to force Kabala onto the party if Joe was going to be forced out. Joe Biden and Joe's team knew that hey, if the party was going to treat Joe this way and force him to step So they rushed ahead and forced Kamala Harris into place, even though Joe Biden and especially Jill Biden hated Kamala. Even though they knew she was a pretender. They forced her into place as the party nominee before Pelosi Obama, etc. could even organize a quickie primary. They decided no no, you're stuck with kookie cammy and her word salads if you won't let Joe run again. So the timing of these books is clearly a second screw you to the Two thirds of the Biden's brand of politics has been holding grudges and trying to screw those who you think screwed you. Just asked Hillary. The Clintons played the same brand of politics, but if you remember it was Joe Biden and Teddy Kennedy who found Barack and Chop blocked Hillary from getting the nomination in two thousand eight. But according to Axios, even several former Biden aides, including some of the most loyal ones, are furious about this book because it's Jill's effort to rewrite history. Jill's book, by all accounts, does what the Bidens have always done. It just lies and points the finger elsewhere, other than at them . Now that I'm semi retired, I've had a lot more time to read for pleasure, but I'm still a hard no when it comes to whether I plan to read Joe or Jill's books. It'll all be made up. Still, if some of those lies stick and smear party leaders and remind voters of just how awful and dishonest these people are and how terrible Democrats in general are as leaders, fantastic. That I'm hoping for. Hey, a quick thank you to the ch ief sponsor of my podcast, Creative Planning. Have you heard of Creative Planning? I tell you the best thing Republicans have going for them this fall is that the Democrats haven't learned even one lesson from the twenty twenty two and twenty four elections. The leaders of this party and their activist groups by and large have refused to moderate even one bit or change any of the They're still a party whose most popular primary candidates and national leaders are preaching defund the police, defund ICE, open the prisons, raise taxes, be more socialist. They can sit around and do autopsies and hold focus groups all they want, and unless they're willing to move off of the most extreme positions that they have on things, I don't see their electoral results improving much for them. The contrast in this Maine Senator's race could not be a better example. The Democrats really, really want to take out longtime GOP Senator Susan Collins, who's been representing Maine for decades. They think they have a really great shot this year, and they might because A, Susan Collins is ancient and literally has a little bit of a Parkinson's shake now, that screams weakness. And B because in the age of Trump, Susan Collins is the definition of rhino to a lot of these non traditional and pro Trump voters. And so great, it's gonna be a good Democrat year, all the traditionalists say Susan Collins is old and vulnerable, we'll take her out this time. Their strategists and their activists really smell opportunity here . But they're on a collision course to make this disgusting clown Graham Plat ner their candidate. There was some hope of having a Democrat candidate who could beat Collins when Governor Janet Mills was running and was also vying for the Democrat primary, but And not only is this guy a believer in every extreme socialist and anti American position that today's far left is pushing, but he's got a trainload full of scandals and stupid statements and baggage that's dragging along behind him? This week it's the revelation that he routinely sexts with This is the process of asking the candidate before they ever run what skeletons and potential scandals do you have in your past that might pop up here? What dirt is the other party going to be able to find on you and use against you? Well Platner's own wife disclosed his online sexting habits and his infidelity and going on to kick and lining up extramarital hookups, etc . So this is the latest scandal blowing up on Graham Platiner. There's even a photo of him topless with a towel wrapped around his waist with his various tattoos displayed, as an example of the sort of photos that he is sending around to women as he cheats on his wife. Graham Platner is turning out to be a uniquely bad candidate because he's a uniquely bad person. And I don't think we in the media stress that enough when situations like this arise. The media outlets and pundits tend to treat these scandals as reasons this person's campaign is in trouble or reasons this person is a troubled candidate without ever fully acknowledging the next step. Yet Graham Plattner is a uniquely bad candidate because he's a uni quely bad person . It's much more than the Nazi tattoo. Platiner has a history of crude and sexually insulting statements on women and homosexuals. He boasts about sleeping with prostitutes and jerking off in porta potties, he defends men who cheat on their wives, he's insulted servicemen who have died in combat on behalf of this country. This guy has demons and hang ups and his own really twisted and scummy set of moral standards. He's a scumbag through and through. And this emerges more and more as the campaign continues. But in typical Democrat Party fashion, they will put a terrible person into Congress if he will vote the way he Now only keep doubling and tripling down on Graham Platiner. Bernie Sanders, AOC, squats with unions, they've all heartily endorsed him, done campaign events with him. No matter what surfaces, they just keep making excuses for him, 'Cause they gotta beat Susan Collins. Having Republicans in charge of Congress is so terrible that today's Democrats insist they need to win her seat by any means necessary. And if Gran Plattner's gonna vote the way Chuck Schumer wants him to vote if he wins that Senate seat , honestly, that's all today's Democrats care about. Many of them have no morals or values themselves, and so for the leaders of today's Democrat Party, it really has become all about winning any way they can. has been famous for decades for being the most politically moderate member of that Senate chamber. This is the insane contrast that's been created here. Graham Platner isn't running against Donald Trump or a Ted Cruz or someone controversial, some hard line Republican or conservative. Platiner is running against your grandma. He's running against the most moderate, centrist, mild member of the US Senate. And the Democrats just gotta, just gotta take her out and re place her with a self proclaimed communist and Nazi. I mean this is today's Democrat Party. This is who they are. This reinforces who today's Democrat Party leaders are. They are genuinely America hating social ists. Platinum is becoming so famously terrible that some of the more reasonable and normal Democrats who remain in the party are starting to insist look, we we should not back this guy. It's leading to a mini civil war in the party out east. A guy named Michael LaRosa is a former spokesman for Joe Biden when she was first lady. A few days ago, even he said having the Democrat Party support Platiner's candidacy is just embarrassing. It's a bridge too far. He said decent Democrats need to have the guts to call for a better candidate. Quote I'm shocked at some of the people, some of the Democrats who I consider friends, being so all or nothing about this guy, and I don't really understand why, he said. He's not really representative of the values I would expect in a Democratic candidate, even by today's standards. He says I'm a little surprised at the number of people who are circling the wagons just to beat Susan Collins. He said he personally draws the line at backing a Democrat who has Nazi tattoos, but he says I get it. I want a s I want the Senate seat. I want Democrats to win. I want Chuck Schumer to be the majority leader, but I'm not willing to take anybody off of the street just because they aroused some vibes in a few portions of the Democrat Party. Several others on their side have said the same thing, like John Fetterman, the Pennsylvania Senator who surprised really all of us by showing some common sense and some common decency once he was elected. But by and large, hey, the power brokers and the biggest loudmouths in this party, like Bernie, AOC, Liz Warren, they are still all in on putting their support behind Graham Platinum. Anything to win and win control of the country. That genuinely is all they care about. And they're selling their souls to embrace Platinum. This has Republicans in Maine encouraged because by and large they, thought Susan Collins was a g oner. I mean, folks, right now the the Republicans have a fifty three forty seven majority in the U.S. Senate. These are six year terms, and so every two years one third of the Senate seats are up for reelection. Get it? I know most of you do, but I always assume we have new listeners or people who are new to politics, and it takes two seconds to go through the little civics lesson again. If you have a little bit of a round the map looks good for Republicans' ability to keep control s to retake control, they would need to defend all of their current seats and flip at least four. And hey, in modern politics, sadly, both sides are too invested in simply new. Never adjusting, never admitting we picked a clunker here. The strategy is always just to ram ahead. We can trick the voters, voters are stupid. We'll just smear Susan Collins as a Nazi too. Every political consultant and strategist and party leader always seems certain we can manage this. We can plow through this. And so a Republican in Maine State House gets it right when he says right now these extreme liberal Democrats can't see past defeat ing Susan Collins at any cost, and what they're really doing is selling their soul to somebody who has a tattoo that's affiliated with the Nazis on his chest, has made slanderous remarks, really pretty ugly and horrifying remarks about veterans who've been injured in combat, racist and bigoted statements that were misogynist. So literally everything that you hear that the left is trying to villainize the right about, he's guilty of, and there's a track record of it. Yeah. Platinum scandals aren't rumors. This is another thing about just sort of the powerful nature of what's being discovered on this guy. Platinum scandals aren't rumors. They aren't made up like you know Trump's a pedophil. Platinum scandals all have a remarkable amount of smoke. do on Trump once a week. This isn't a situation in which the evidence is weak or sketchy or made up like, you know, show me the P Tape or prove Trump colluded with Russia. No, no, no. The Democrats are defending Platner and they know, they know this is all true, and they're doubling and tripling and quadrupling down to support him and defend him anyway. To the point that we are now in territory in which I'd like to ask Liz Warren or Bernie Sanders, do you have any line anymore ? Do you have any sense of any sort of decency anymore? Or is it all lies and darkness in that little head of yours? The Democrats individually and as a party keep insisting that they're the ones championing for women and gays and transsexuals and minorities and fairness and equity, right? And yet they've got a Senate candidate in Maine who exemplifies the exact opposite of all of those things, and he's one of the rising stars of their party . And it's not just Maine and it's not just him. It's saying they support Jews and then trotting out Zoran Mamdani and his anti Semite wife to engage in displays of anti Semitism and expose that lie. Every rising star in today's Democrat Party is a Jew hater, and many of them are surprisingly pro Islamic terrorist . This is today's Democrat Party? Yeah . And the party in its candid ates are still anti cop , anti-ICE, anti-prison, anti-border. They're pro anarchy, pro taxes, pro chaos. They're still pushing the trans bullying and the pro noun BS ? Well, to that point, here's a good example of a Senate seat that they think they can flip in Texas. Donald Trump's chosen candidate, of course, Ken Paxton has his own ethical scandals. He just won the primary there, and the Democrats are He's come up with some goofy term that he thinks is more inclusive. I mean, after all, we don't want to offend the transitioning men who want to pretend they're men but they still have a uterus, I guess. So Telerico engages in this nonsense. Meanwhile, It has columnist Ed Morrissey correctly labeling this Texas Senate race as the ultimate test of the Republicans anti' woke playbook because if they can't defeat James Talarico in Texas, as he runs on all sorts of openly woke nonsense, this country's then in even more trouble than we think it is. Morrissey mocks the Democrats ' playbook in Texas because he says they're trying to create these JFK types like Beto O'Rourke. He explains the strategy a quote they find a male candidate, freshen him up with an Annie Lewitz photo shoot, make vague references to the Kennedy dynasty in a state that couldn't care less about it, and they pull tens of millions of dollars from closer races. So he says this Texas Senate race has become a national laboratory for anti woke politics, testing whether voters still recognize He's right when he says it matters because Republicans came away from twenty twenty four convinced that they had won more than an election, that they'd actually broke the w The durability of that culture war coup is now an open question, he says. Yeah, if Americans didn't want to hear any of this they them pronoun BS and didn't want to hear about men with vaginas and didn't want to hear about talking off their children's genitals in order to help them in twenty twenty four, do they want to hear it now? And that's what has me marveling at the fact that the Democrat Party leaders and their strategists have not pivoted away from any of these losing policy positions. This is even though they've been clear losers for several election cycles now. Defund the police harmed them in twenty eighteen and twenty twenty two. So it's back along with defund ICE in twenty twenty six? Okay . But Jay, that's just for the candidates in safe seats. The Democrats running in the swing states and for the open seats, they're not going to sound so extreme. Oh really? Because James Talarico and his team don't seem to realize that they're running in Texas. He's proudly touting that he's running a vegan campaign in cattle country and is going out of his way not to offend men with vaginas calling them my neighbors with a uterus. Unless that's the name of some new electric car, that really sounds stupid. I might have missed it. Maybe Toyota has come out with the new all electric uterus and I'm the foolish one here, but I don't think I am. Neighbors with a uterus? My neighbors have Alexis. What is this fool talking about? And because Ken Paxton on the GOP side is far from a perfect candidate, this will be a great test of how willing and primed the voters are to vote for a Democrat who's spouting this era's party line. This is a far cry from a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage, isn't it? Hoover ran on about a century ago, and that was a phrase that moved voters at the time. Running loose and drag shows in every school is the winning slogan? I don't think so. At least I hope not. I don't feel the need to rehash the last few days of stories related to the famous musicians who've canceled out on the two hundred and fiftieth centennial celebrations in D.C. My reaction to Martina McBride and Brett Stevens and other cowards who canceled can be summed up in a sentence or two. If you made the commitment, keep it. If you caved to left wing bullying and you canceled, you're a pathetic coward. And seeing those musicians cancel and cave to the America hating left was disappo inting. But what was far more disappointing and even infuriating was how I saw nearly every media outlet in the legacy media covering this. They nearly all put it in terms of these artists quote defending their decision to either I'm not sure if you're stood for the beacon of hope and freedom and prosperity and greatness that it has been for the rest of the world McBride and Stevens were both hounded by reporters to defend their choice to agree to take part in the celebrations in the first place. Hey, F you . No single American should ever have to feel the need to defend their patriotism, and the fact that so many people apparently do, and that so many others feel the need to ask them to defend it, does not reflect well on where we are as a country at this moment. And this is mainly media driven, of course. The more honest and level headed news reporters and editors of the past I think would be focused on I think it's a good editors and reporters are really just left wing activists masquerading as journalists, of course. And so instead we get all sorts of stories asking why these artists would ever agree to play at a historic celebration of this country in the first place. Really? And I hear the liberals who are listening screaming out there it's Trump's celebration, it's not America's celebration . Bolog na. One of the grandest histories of this country over two hundred and fifty years is that regardless of which person or party is in the White House, this country has always pulled together both in times of crisis and in times of One of the things that's made this country so truly great in the past has been the ability of the American people and our leaders to be able to pause and step back and realize that some things are more important than politics or transcend politics. And one of those things has always been defending this country from foreign adversaries, and another one has been we can all agree this country has been a unique beacon of hope and prosperity for the globe , and the USA is great. Who wouldn't agree with that? Well, in the modern era, it's all the America hating global forces who've been way, way too successful in co opting the American left and the Democrat Party over the last And given that they now control a lot of our educational, governmental, and communication systems, we now have a chunk of people in this country who are feeling the need to push back on this country's. You've got to be kidding me. Those people are pathetic. They should simply be ignored and shoved back onto the fringes, but instead, they're accomplices in the media and on the social media platforms are insisting on amplifying this negativity and whining instead. And I'm sorry, but anyone of any note or importance who wouldn't push back on it, especially in this moment, is a pathetic cow ard. Who would have thought that Martina McBride was such a brainwashed Karen or such a pathetic coward that she'd back out of this gig ? She says yes, and then caves when some bitter, nasty people say well, but it,'s Trump celebration. Why you helping Trump? Stop up, stop being so petty . But I love that Trump is going big with the two hundred and fiftieth celebrations, and I really love, and I mean I really love that he used the occasion to clean up and restore and rebutify Washington DC. Only Trump would look around and see decades of decay and make it a priority on top of everything else that a president has to do. He ordered the restorations, found the money, even demanded personal updates on how the restorations are going And yes, if a Democrat was in office, he or she would feel the need to put on some sort of two hundred and fiftieth anniversary celebration, but you know it would be smaller. And you also know that given the state of the Democrat Party, they then would be the ones taking heat from the America hating lefties for even doing it. Watch either because of the anniversary or simply because it needed to be done. Folks, Donald Trump isn't restoring Washington DC because we've got this big party coming up. He's restoring it because as a lifelong contractor and builder and, as a person with a li felong interest in art, architecture, beautification, he was driving around Washington, D.C. seeing the decay during his first presidency, and seeing the dry fountains, seeing the crumbling statues and roadways, seeing the slime and the refle cting pools, etc., and he said, My God, we can do better than this. He started barking orders and making plans, and that is a leader. Trump's restoration of Washington, DC, I think is one of the best displays of personal responsibil ity and accountability, one of the best displays of personal leadership that I've seen out of any president in my lifetime, and I'm not kidding. Leaders will show you by their actions that they are taking the job seriously, feeling the weight of responsibility . They'll do things like taking the initiative on their own to fix things or do this right . It might be the new CEO of a company who asks, Well, why is the fourth floor vacant and decaying or why don't we paint the hallways? Or it might be the president of the United States saying DC looks terrible. This will not be the image that we're projecting to the world and to other world leaders. But this is displaying leadership, not giving flowery speeches and pretending that you're solving non existent problems. Clinton didn't fix the fountains, Bush didn't fix the fountains, Obama apparently tried to fix the reflecting pool and spent thirty five million dollars and botched it. Old dementia jokes And I am sorry, but if you can't give him credit for that, you aren't I've been looking for some examples of positive things that Obama or Biden might have done that would be similar to this wherein look, if you don't give a president credit for this, you're just being an idiot. You're just hating to hate. Great call. Get the hostage back. Our strategist played it brilliantly. Kudos for a good decision made by the president. I don't care if he's a Democrat and he gets credit for a good call. I want more good calls and more examples of leadership, as the vast majority of Americans do. Here's another equivalent, I think. Obama 's call to have our military go into Pakistan and kill Osama bin Laden. We finally found him. We know where he is. It's risky, yeah. Could cause an international incident. Do we go in and get bin Laden? Joe Biden said no when he was Veep. Barack Obama said yeah, go kill him, and we did. All right, great call, Barry. Kudos to Barack Obama for being bold . And you didn't have the conservative half of America trashing Obama and trashing the President. We know good work when we see it. But in the Trump era, and more accurately, I think, in this modern era of politics, if a Republican is doing a good thing, it either needs to be ignored or trashed. Donald Trump can't even get some props from these lefties for cleaning up the nation's capital? I mean, forget his brilliant move to solve DC's terrible crime problem within a matter of weeks. That has worked brilliantly, and he gets no credit for it and it gets no atten tion because today's Democrat Party is pro crime and pro criminal. I mean, I get that. Forget the props for solving DC's terrible crime problem for the moment. Trump can't even get an attaboy for finally fixing the fountains and c leaning off the graffiti? It's a flood of stories and pundit panels trashing President Trump and his team for doing the right thing and restoring Washington, DC? Okay, then this really is mental illness on the left now, isn't it? Listeners to my longtime radio show know that I've been labeling most of the reactions from today's left as mental illness, but we are really talking about a perfect example of the left's mental illness in America hating today events at the White House in a tent because we don't have a ballroom that's fitting. Trump as a gift to the country and as a gift to all future presidential administrations, Trump says I will build one and I'll have my rich friends pay for it so we don't even have to charge the tax payers. And he's relentlessly trashed for it? And worse, hordes of haters actually come out of the woodwork to block the project at every step. By God, we are not going to allow you to give a half billion dollar gift to this country, you a hole. Really? And that's not mental illness. Today's Democrat leaders should be ashamed of themselves and their party activists. I mean sincerely. Take a step back and do some self evaluation, because today's Democrats and their accomplices in the media are constantly attacking and trashing anything that Donald Trump does, regardless of its merit. It's an easy cliche, I know, but it's true. At this point in his presidency and his political career, Donald Trump could personally find a cure for cancer, and the Democrats would trash him for it and insist on blocking cancer patients from getting it. It's sad that there is zero exaggeration or hyperbole associated with that example. In fact, let's use the real world example I just used with Obama. If Donald Trump had ordered the raid and got bin Laden, would today's Democrats cheer that or trash that? We don't even have to guess. They'd trash it and they'd trash Trump and they'd launch a campaign to insist Osama bin Laden is a victim, he was a freedom fighter, and Trump killed him. And if you liberals listening are rolling your eyes at that, Donald Trump and Israel's prime minister just eliminated a serious forty year military and terror threat to this country and to the entire Western world, and you've been trashing him for for it four months . Because it's basically angry demons and your mental illness that is now driving you and your political leaders. A social media account that was used to message for Kamala Harris's campaign They're calling Trump's restoration projects in DC his vanity projects. They use the similar language on the CNN and MS Now panels, vanity projects. He's completing the restoration of the reflecting pool that Obama's team botched to the tune of thirty five million dollars, and it's a vanity project. Folks, the Trump administration is using fees paid by tourists to the national Park Service to improve monuments and areas that are managed by the National Park Service. These fees are being used for precisely what they're supposed to be used for, and yet the left is wondering where we're getting the money, what it's being used for, is it being used properly? They're upset about this? A town hall piece says the fact is the Democrats didn't give a darn that the reflecting pool was choked with garbage or if the fountain at Columbus Circle wasn't working They have the capacity for that anymore. And aren't these the same folks who wasted money like it was going out of style? he asks. Didn't they create and defend a lot of fraud? They've spent endless amounts of money without caring. Now we actually have an administration that's putting a stop to the rampant fraud and mismanagement , and they're complaining. Decline is a choice, and it's one that the Democrats have made for years. Trump is literally following through on fixing things, and that's a good thing. I agree with that completely. In one instance , Trump ordered fountains restored that have literally sat empty and filthy with graffiti for thirty years. That's a vanity project? If you're not on social media, you probably don't know that on X or other social media, people who have lived in and worked Washington DC for twenty or thirty years are saying I've never seen that fountain operational. Really DC insiders are posting, you know, I've worked here for thirty years. I've walked by that ugly fountain every day to get to work Democrats they would never say that out loud in polite company. It's both amusing and sad that everyone who works in Washington, DC, especially Democrats, it seems, all agree that it's a great thing that DC is a safe city again. Crime is down, they're no longer in fear as they walk to their car or walk around the city. But the same people will refuse to give Trump credit for it. Consider that probably ninety percent of the federal employees and bureaucrats who are buzzing around Washington DC are liberals and Democrat S right now and why America can't seem to solve any of its problems, big or small. Can't we get that fountain cleaned up and operating? Oh I don't know. Are you a Republican? Yeah. Well then the answer's no. Who even acts like that? Sadly now, the answer is half of the country. So thank heaven that Donald Trump is the one who's in office right now as we celebrate two hundred and fifty years of this country's greatness. I love that he is going big and bold with the celebrations . I love that he is proud of the city and of the country. The White House has alerted the Guinness World Record people we're going to attempt to break a world record with our fourth of July fireworks display. That's fantastic. Freedom two hundred and fifty is going to shoot off over eight hundred and sixty thousand fireworks in a forty minute show, they say. That's significantly more than the eight hundred and eleven thousand fireworks that apparently were shot off in the Philippines about ten years ago and Fifty or more trucks are going to be used to transport this massive supply to DC. Around sixty crew members are going to insist in lighting it off, and it's going to be launched from the area around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. That will be spectacular. The head of the securities exchange commission is officially moving to kill off an insane Biden era requirement related to climate change. This ex ecutive order exemplifies the sort of expensive and completely unnecessary hyperregulation of the business sector that the Democrats just love. This rule would have forced American businesses into reporting the greenhouse gases that they're company Good grief. And I can hear some of the people asking, well, what's wrong with that? That's pro environment. Might not just be careful. What's wrong with it is it's another completely unnecessary regulatory burden that costs owners and companies all sorts of time and money and wasted productivity to comply with. That's what's wrong with it. Especially when the EPA already has a web of regulations that cover this stuff. I'll emphasize again, Biden's regime thought it was necessary to put these climate reporting rules in place through the Securities Exchange Commission. Why? That's what the EP A is for, and all of those businesses are reporting these exact same sorts of stats to the EPA on other federal forms and compliance sheets. In fact, that's the basic argument Paul Atkins, the SEC chief made as he announced an end to this Biden regulation. He said, Not only are America's businesses being strangled with red tape, but this order exceeds the SEC's authority, he said. Quote, we need to stick to our knitting. Let the Environmental Protection Agency do their job and we'll stick to our job. He said SEC disclosure rules should avoid the practical effect of dictating corporate behavior and be imposed only when the expected benefits justify the likely costs and burdens. This rule drafted under Biden never took effect because a slew of lawsuits followed. The Chamber of Commerce sued and about twenty-five Republican attorneys generals sued, so it's been idled, but it was part of the so-called ESG movement. It calls for companies to consider climate change and workers' rights and gender diversity when they make investment decisions. It was all part of that. And if this rule had survived, every publicly traded company would have been required to warn investors about big threats from floods and wildfires and hurricanes. I mean just for an example, there's an example in one of these stories. A hotel chain, for example, would have been forced to report dangers to beachfront properties from rising sea level. Firms would also have had to disclose their own emissions and an initial version of the rule anyway, went so far as to demand that the companies track emissions from customers and suppliers. Well, for heaven's sake, how do you even do that ? This is another great move to deregulate under Trump, and since it's coming under Trump, the climate activists are calling this Trump's doing actually Paul Atkins doesn't answer to the White House, and this also isn't the final step. It's just a first step towards snuffing out more Biden nonsense. And the SEC will now open up a sixty day window for public comment so all of the public's input can be ignored and Atkins then can then snuff it out officially. And I'm not trying to be cute when I say that. I'm trying to be accurate. This sixty day window for public comment has mostly become a way for the lobbyists and the affected parties to vent about a change before the administration in place just does what it wants to anyway. Obama's team moved That sort of thing. This is how it works. In the end, modern presidential administrations just do what they want to do anyway when it comes to finalizing or reversing and snuffing out regul ations. Actually, taking the public's opinion is now considered more of a nuisance than an unnecessary level This next topic is also related to regulations. The National Review is reporting that thanks to some changes Trump made upon returning to office, this last year or so has represented a renaissance for the American It's pretty interesting. Last May, the Trump administration issued four different executive orders to cut the red tape and create a faster nuclear regulatory appear construction permits issued, groundbreakings taking place. They say multiple small modular reactor design approvals have been approved. There have been major funding commitments to new projects, new testing of infrastructure, and even a restart of some of the dormant plants that we have sitting around the country. Trump's orders not only cut the red tape, but they put a maximum deadline of eighteen months on any new reactor applications or designs. That's a good idea. This is finally leading to a sense that we can start using nuclear power again, and that investing in efforts to build new plants is now worth it because it could actually come to fruition. It could actually get done. In fact, the Department of Energy has selected eleven projects that they're following through to move forward on, and this is being called a remarkable achievement in the energy industry. Holy cow, we've actually got some movement on nuclear. Fantastic. An expert from the Illinois Institute of Tech says the idea of select ing eleven projects and aiming to have three operating by july of twenty twenty six is incredibly fast by historical standards, it reflects a major shift in philosophy. To be answered before anything gets built, regulators and the Department of Energy are now much more willing to test designs and stages and learn from actual operation. The story claims that overall America is going to add enough nuclear energy to power two million homes by twenty twenty seven and four million by twenty twenty nine. This is according to the Department of Energy again. They say six reactors are already pursuing upgrades. Quote suddenly existing nuclear plants look incredibly valuable again because they already have grid connections, trained operators, and large amounts of carbon free generation, this expert says. Already exist rather than building entirely new reactors. Restarts are harder, he says, but they can be done if the plant hasn't deteriorated too far and the economics are strong enough. Again, that's from Jeff Terry, who's in research at the Illinois Institute of Technology? I didn't know Illinois had an institute of technology, and what comes to mind is a bunch of flatlanders trying to figure out the best way to get an empty can out of a beer koozie. But you know, this might be a national podcast, but it originates from Wisconsin. So as a host, I have an obligation to make fun of Illinois. It's just the rules we have to play by here in the Midwest. But most Americans have no idea how far nuclear technology has come, and I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but the industry insiders have been saying for decades modern nuclear isn't anything like the older technology or the older plants that led to the safety scares decades ago. Modern nuclear, they assure us , is extremely safe and could be extremely versatile. They're not talking about the possibility of having so called mini reactors that could be used to ensure constant power at our military facilities or movable like generators that could be taken on in military expeditions. They're talking about mini reactors that could power specific subdivisions or neighborhoods. Holy cow, if your HOA is arguing over the color of your mailbox and the height of your light pole, I'm not sure if you're it could be coming. Instead of hooking up to the massive grid in order to power your new subdivision, you know, should we invest in a mini reactor for our The National Review article says quote The upside is enormous. Fast reactors can use fuel more efficiently, potentially reduce certain types of nuclear waste, and operate at lower pressure than water cool ed systems. The Department of Energy granted approval for radiant industries to create and test microreactors, which would be the first mass produced micro reactor, making it possible to build and bring nuclear facilities online much more quickly , they say. Micro reactors could be constructed in a factory and deployed to remote locations to provide reliable power, like a diesel generator would be now. And they say this approval represents a significant milestone in the new era of faster and more accessible nuclear power deployment that was begun by the White House last year. Experimental reactors had to navigate a system designed for massive commercial power plants. He says that made testing slow and extremely expensive. What these new programs do is remove a lot of that friction. Developers can use pre approved sites, existing infrastructure, and Department of Energy oversight to validate designs much more quickly. He says instead of spending ten years trying to get permission to build something, companies can move into demonstration much earlier. In fact, they say there's also been strong progress on micro reactors for military bases, with the Department of Defense identifying nine potential army installations and major nuclear projects. And they say this is all movement despite quote massive obstructive activity from Democrats. They say each existing U.S. nuclear power plant spends an estimated four point two million dollars annually just meeting government paperwork requirements and another four point four million to pay government mandated security staff. Moreover, Biden in his era, his team, they moved to basically make it impossible to build any new nuclear reactors in America. Quote Biden era nuclear bureaucracy proposed nuclear regulations that were mathematically impossible to meet, intentionally designed to prevent the development of new reactors. It took an incredible forty three years to get approval and start building one of America's newest re nuclear reactors at Watts Bar in Tennessee. So this national review piece concludes in one year Trump's deregulation orders have ignited America's most productive nuclear era in modern history by slashing red tape, imposing hard deadlines, and shifting from energy The U.S. has moved from decades of paralysis to a surge of new permits, groundbreaking construction, reactor restarts, and billions in private investment, delivering the clean, reliable power the country actually needs. The real test now is whether this burst of speed becomes the new normal, they say. Let's hope so, because not only is a move toward nuclear long overdue, but no fooling people. If we as a country and as a global community want to move toward cleaner air and fewer emissions as human activity expands on this planet, then it's going to be through the use of nuclear power, not wind and solar. They might be boutique technologies that contribute, but those technologies will only ever be more expensive and far less efficient options. If we want to invest in clean energy and actually see results and get it done, transition away from using fossil fuels for most of our energy needs. Nuclear power is the answer. Nuclear power and nuclear reactors can produce enough energy to meet our current and future needs and easily, if we really commit to it, wind and solar cannot and will not . And that's just the simple truth of it all. Whether the politicians and the leaders of the Western world and or the eco zealist will ever come around to admitting that is the question. Because if we really want to dramatically reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and dramatically reduce our overall human-caused emissions, it'll be with a big shift to nuclear, not to wind and solar . Then there's the foolish panic over data centers, which is the next topic. Folks, the panic over data centers now reminds me of the foolish and unnecessary panic over nuclear that we've had for decades. Data centers are not the new boogeyman or the new enemy for of mankind. But hey, they sure are for the eco zealots and the activist left right now, aren't they? They are because the false panic over global warming has been shattered, and they're I think they're looking for new scare tactics and a new wedge issue to use at the more local or state level. And so we've been seeing the growing animosity and panic toward data centers. The claims range from they'll use too much power to they'll increase our energy prices to they'll use too much water to ridiculously they'll foul the drinking water. That's just a false talking point that these same alarmists are borrowing from their attack on fracking. It's always the same false panic and nonsense. And hey, I can see people and communities opposing data setters because they're big and ugly and we just don't want the eyesore in our backyard. That opposition I at least understand. If it's a not in my backyard sort of opposition, it's understandable. None of us wants to live next to that two hundred acre turn That sort of opposition I get, and it's why citing these projects is difficult. But what I do not get is opposition to these data centers themselves based on No, they're not going to use up your your water or foul the drinking water. The entire water use issue has been blown way out of proportion by opponents who either don't know what they're talking about or they're simply lying. These data centers, yes, will use a big glut of water initially or even occasionally as a way to cool the data center, but they use an enclosed system that recirculates the same water over and over And as for the size of some of the new data centers being proposed, yeah, they are a lot bigger, they are. But it's not like data centers are anything new. All sorts of them have been operating all over the country and no one's ever made a stink until now. Rich Lowry points out data centers have been with us for a long time and they've been powering the internet and the cloud computing. They've kicked into overdrive with the rise of AI, which depends on large scale computing He says the centers don't need many people to operate, no, but they create lots of construction jobs and contribute massive tax revenue to the places that they're located. So he asks what's not to like? Well, they require lots of energy and water, and this is presumed to strain local communities and drive up rates for everyone else. But he says the evidence doesn't show much effect on the price of electricity when you really look at it. Analysis has been done. Rates are high in states with misbegotten policies that make their electric rates high. And he points out that rates are actually lower and increasing more slowly in the states that have most of the data centers. And that's because a state like Texas, with a large concentration of data centers, has a policy of energy abundance that absorbs more demand. The water concern too is overblown, and it's not just Rich Lowry and I saying it. A lot of these computations have been done and they all point to the same thing. All sorts of other activities use much more water. One analysis points out that if the amount of water that's used by data centers triples by twenty thirty, they would still require only eight percent of the water that it takes to maintain America's golf courses. But according to the scaremongers, AI data centers are just gonna suck us dry. Rich Lowry says then there's the complaint the data centers are unsightly. He says people post beautiful natural vistas on social media and they comment that the data centers don't belong there. He says this makes it seem as if data centers are going to be located in the middle of our national parks rather than on sites that would otherwise be warehouses or industrial type projects. And he's right. He says, you know what else doesn't look great? Factories. But we've never said that we don't want manufacturing in the United States due to poor aesthetics. The naysayers also never talk about the boom of jobs that these AI data centers do create, even if it's only maybe a few dozen employees once it's built to keep it operating. But these big data centers are already creating a huge new demand for blue collar workers , construction workers, electricians. And according to the industry insiders, electricians working on our data centers right now are making twenty five percent higher salaries than the normal electrician. That sounds like a pretty good gig for a new generation of blue c ollar workers. And as all sorts of common sense conservatives are pointing out now, we can't let the alarmist lunatics run the asylum on this one. Their false hysterics over fracking didn't stop the nation's oil and natural gas booms, thank heaven. They have delayed our foray into exploring nuclear for decades, sadly. We can't let them shift their alarmism and their political gameplaying over to data centers now and attempt to make them the new boogeyman for the American people
