Hello everybody and welcome to an episode of The Midnight Show Plays about Games Friends getting better. I'm Ben Hansen joined by Jacob Geller. Finally, you let me back on one of these things. How long has it been? Five weeks? Are you serious? You count the weeks? The head. I count the second I'm away from Jacob. I've played so many games giving takes about 'cause y'all just already talked about them . All right, we're going to talk about some of those games on this episode of the podcast and we have an episode coming up that's going to be about kind of Nautica Too . Oh, you're kind of Nautica Tu ? Yeah, I love the first one, but I think I'm gonna mostly wait till one point zero for this. Interesting. I didn't think you were a survival games guy. Subnautica's the one. I think it rocks. Interesting. Okay, we might have to reconvene because it's always that situation of like what's the early access things? Do we grip it and rip it this year for two ten's? And I'm kind of in that canvas for Subnotica too, unless I would pivot. Are you feeling about it? We're in the intro. Subnautica has sections where you go and it's like there will be more stuff here later. Yeah , which I reached in the first like forty five minutes of playing versus like Slay the Spire, which doesn't really exist. You know, they're just kind of changing what the cards do. Right, right . Like an ending okay, I see what you're saying. The whole game doesn't exist. I got very confused. And that's no, but I mean, it's like, it's not far from the starting point where you like go to a sunken ship and they're like Dobby Moore here That confused guy you heard earlier that was one Kyle Hilliard . I talked before I was introduced. I'm allowed. The way it says should be Leo Vader's here, dude Hello and also Janet Gotta respond to being introduced . Not at all. Am I last 'cause you're mad at me? No, no, if you would have jumped in and said I'm confused, I would have jumped right to you but Jennit Garcia, welcome to the show . Janet is the star of the show. She has played games that have not been released yet that we're going to talk about in this year episode. Rayman Legends. And that's part of a larger bundle where we're talking about Sony's state of play. They had a big event on Tuesday , an hour, more than an hour of new reveals, new gameplay that fun stuff are going to be unpacking highlights from that stuff that made us raise an eyebrow. And then after unpacking all those games, we're going to be talking about Luna Abyss, which is one of the mini games Jacob's been playing recently, as well as some other of us . Whatever English is Motorslice, also we're talking about a three D platform er. We're talking about that. And then back half of the show, community questions. It's everybody's turn to make this show better . So look forward to that. Thanks to the wonderful people on Patreon. Kyle, you feeling it? Are you feeling like we're in the SGF window, the former E three hot zone ? Yeah, I mean yesterday at when we were it was the state of play that like put me in that state of mind, right? Like it didn't feel like it was looming and now all of a sudden , you know, ten minutes into that the show I'm kind of like, oh, we're in it. Okay. Yeah, right. I kind of had that feeling it was like genuinely, I think Wolverine was like a great way and we'll talk about that later, but like a great way to kind of like kick off this entire season because it really was like watching that gameplay demonstration. It was like, oh this feels this feels like that feeling I used to have at E three when you're watching a big presentation. It's like here's a big uncharted set piece or something. It's like, yeah, show me some wild stuff. Let me just see some wild action and realize , okay, I'll be able to play that within a year . So we have a lot going on. If you want to watch our full reactions to the Sony State of Play, they're up on Minax's YouTube channel and then we're going to be doing reaction streams for a lot of other stuff happening in this SGF season. So specifically this Friday at four PM and Mid Mexico's YouTube channel will do the full reaction to the summer game fest big showcase from Jeff Keele Lee and then right for that there',s the day of the Devs where things get chill, things get intimate. That's when we can just put our feet up and look at some cool ass indie games. So we're doing a reaction stream for that as well. Saturday, june sixth at eleven AM central will be doing a reaction stream for wholesome Games direct and then Sunday june seventh, twelve PM central will be doing the Xbox Games showcase reaction stream as well all on Minx's YouTube channel so you can check that out there. Hey, by the way if you,'ve enjoyed Minax's coverage of SGF season so far, just as it's starting or if you are looking forward to these streams or you want to help support the deepest dive on zero seven that's happening right now with Leo Vader and the full crew where they're giving hours and hours and hours and hours of discussion about W seven first light in a multipar game club discussion. Here's a game I'm super excited about. There we go. Here's an offer for you. If you jump in and support Man Max on Patreon, brand new supporters only before this coming Monday, june eighth, jumping at even the two dollar tier. I'm talking any tier whatsoever. You want to support in the Pennycase Media the two dollar tier. I'll personally DM you on Patreon with a steam code for On imusha two . Get in the mood for Onomusha Way the Sword, which is releasing in September this year. We'll talk about that more in a little bit, but go back and play the remaster for Onimusha two, which just released last year. This is On omusha two Samur ai Destiny. So DMU personally, a steam code. If you want to support us directly. And again, this is for brand new supporters only. You can check the description for availability, but support us, get a great game and a great game that'll get you extra prep ared for a potentially great game, the new Onusha game that's coming out later this year . Okay , Kyle Hilliard, you weren't on the reaction stream. I'm most curious about what the biggest pop for you was throughout the entire showcase I mean, it was God of war. Yeah. Luffy. Like it seemed such a feat and it was that's the only answer you can give, right? I was feeling it's the obvious it feels like the boring answer because it was the one last thing. But like to get away from the sort of the cynical sort of like tone of my voice, like I really loved what I was seeing. Really? Everything about it. Yes, absolutely. Because like I love, I love Kratos, you know, he I love hanging out with him, but I've spent a lot of time with him. I love the idea of exploring this character, Fay because like she's really only appeared in the game as a memory and she is like incredibly effecting on Kratos' life in a really big, huge way and we don't really know her at all. So that's like exciting . And then the idea like the basic idea of going to the place where Gods go when they die. Right. And everything that encompasses and like what that means in terms of like different gods living there. Like the two villains that we saw, the antagonists, like, they didn't really go into it. They went into it later in interviews and stuff. But those are like the Egyptian god of war and the Tibetan God of War. Right. And like that idea of just like I'm like within fiction , I don't know that I've ever seen anything I'm sure it exists, but like explores the idea of an afterlife for an afterlife kind of so to speak. It's just it's just this like totally unique thing and the Cube and Aru and Frank are like fun and weird. Yeah. And I just I like the actress playing Fey. Like there's just a lot of this is yeah , I watched a little bit of your guys' reaction. You seemed a little cool, but I was like, it was like opening my brain in a way that I was like, this is not where I expected God of war to go and I am I am totally on board to follow you guys there. This is really cool. Yeah. So God of war Lao Fei. I think so I'm glad that we didn't talk about it on the Min Max show. Like there were leaks, you know, I had heard as well that this was the direction and the direction that I heard is like okay all I'd heard that it was like following Faye and I didn't know what that meant. I thought it was prequel, which they apparently discussed. They considered but I am I think this is much more interesting for sure. I agree. Like let's start the game where you last saw Fey, which was wrapped in burlap burning. And like it is awesome to have like that is the opening of the game. It's like okay, just like her embers going to the sky and then literally following someone in the afterl ife. I am personally wrestling with this game. It's a bit of a rollercoaster. Like I've been really chewing on it and consuming every interview they've released, you know, since the announcement because like on paper , I am all for it. You know, like I'm not that partial to Kratos. I feel like if it was Kratos going to Egyptian mythology, you'd be like, okay, they're all right, but like I'm happy for this expected course kind of , right? But the idea of like them shaking it up with like new protagonist , wild new setting, incorporating a bunch of different mythology. I should be like, Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. And I'm trying to wrestle with myself about why, like the fact that they're taking a big swing and they have a character in here that's a cosmic cube. I was like, That is the bouncing enemies off of and stuff. Right. It's like, that does sound awesome. Why am I not feeling energized? I have I have also been feeling this way and I think it is like the God of war aesthetic is so and specifically the twenty eighteen and post God of war aesthetic is kind of so strong and such a such a strong flav or that it doesn't make it feel as different as I feel like it should , you know, because it's like it is like it's a whole new setting. It's a whole new character. She hey, she can jump, she can air juggle enemies at looking at it, it is this just like this is what those modern God of war games look like and the one camera shot thing, which clearly they are just married to forever now gives everything a pretty similar aesthetic where it's just kind of like this is this is really big and really expensive looking and like wow we're just seeing another character thrown into walls in the same way that Kratos is always getting thrown into walls in those. And it's just kind of like I feel like the concept of the game is striking out in this like really exciting new direction and then I look at the game and I'm just kind of like that's new Sony God of War in a way where I wish I felt more like wow, look, look at that you know did you see her jump because I feel like you know I sure did it I know what you mean from that, but at the same time it's like it is a franchise. So I think the idea of it having like a cohesive visual identity and like looking at it and knowing that I can feel what it looks like. I do get inherently it does feel less distinctly flavored. Like, you know, we see games where there's like multiplayer and there's like different characters, but they all kind of move similarly . I can understand, you know , it kind of almost having that sort of feel to it , but I don't know, I guess I'm just not sick of it yet. More out of war with the different like is like 'cause it's like it's saying this new Star Wars movie kind of like feels like Star Wars. It's like Ragnarack and I want a continuation in that world. I mean, I'm like , I don't want to come off as dismissive you're wrong about your opinion. But it's like I want a continuation here. Like I want to I love the single camera shot. I think it aids so much in action and sort of emotion. Like the sort of cinematography of keeping the camera close and moving out it makes things feel consistent. Like I love it. Like I don't I don't want them to abandon interchange. Can I really quick say it's so awesome to get the Lao Fei pronunciation perfect and then say Ragnarak That southern that southern upbringing coming out. For that one word. Kyle, I think if the modern Star Warses had all committed to, we are going to do one single camera shot the whole time, you would be like, please give me something different . Like I think the camera thing is really tough for me where it's like really I think the it just feels like everything's kind of you're like it captures the emotion and I'm like, yeah, in exactly the same way as twenty eighteen and Ragnarok captured emotion. And to be clear, I really like Ragnarok. twenty eighteen, I'm a little efficient. I think nailed Dragon Rock. I love that game, but like it 's just kind of like I don't know. I was looking at this and I was just like this looks the same and not in the same as in Yippy I love God of war, the same and like I'm less I'm just less excited about that. I hear the less excited thing. I do think and not to say your opinion is wrong, but isn't going to be like it is pretty wild if it's like new setting new, prot agonist and it's like, yeah, but the camera works the same. And like you're just saying the camera kind of defines the tone and the pacing of the story and that's the feeling. Yes, yeah. Yeah, yeah, that they that they're just kind of telling it's it's such it's such a powerful flavor. It is prior and the sandwich, you know, it's just like kind of like it it shapes the way they're able to tell stories in such a defining way that it feels like all of the other new stuff that they're doing for me feels almost secondary to the camera being and and that's their style and they've made it work well and I also I think this is maybe not the best way to show off the game of twenty minutes of unbroken opening cutscenes . And so maybe playing the game it will feel way like different in the way that I want and it's just like the way that themes these games start out , you know, is also kind of similar and that is adding to my feeling of sameness. It's funny, Jacob because like that's all I want from these shows. It's like, I don't I've seen a million trailers, like show me like twenty minutes of gameplay. Also like the not to keep hammering on this, but like the single shot thing is like one of those things that like other entertainment mediums can't really do and no one else really . Like when you're saying it's the same , there's three other examples God of War, Ragnarok, and Dead Space two . To do something different is to do the same thing as every movie I've ever seen. But I hear on the pacing front on the tone thing, I do feel there. I feel like I'd be happy if they ditched it. I feel like I'm not that partial to it. And I think about more dislike. What do you guys want? Like that third like person perspective, like aerial view of like arena combat is like residential warnings that you don't know what you want but you have to have some kind that's what God of war kind of was. I think it's not even in gameplay. It's just in the cutscenes in the cutscenes I feel, like it's limiting their story telling. Specifically, like, I think it was a miracle they were able to pull off Regnok as well as they did because like even we want to transfer back and forth between characters. Like that's so hard to do when it's one camera and it kind of limits them in that way but they kind of they made it work with having some interesting segues and stuff. But for this, I think with that idea of like, okay, it's Fay in the afterlife . She wants to make sure that Kratos and Atreasure o,kay. She wants to get back and it's like there's a part of her it's like, well, is that kind of limiting now the time frame of where this can go? And I understand it's in the everywhere when it's called. So time doesn't really matter, right? But it's like, I hope the end of this game is past the events of Regnarok . And if it's the one camera shot, is that containing it a little bit, or is it just going to be she's going to pop her head back into, you know, the Scandinavian realm and it's like, hey, suddenly we're here because time is different than everyone. You know, this is a question that I'm much less skeptical of because I think that their writers are talented. But it is kind of like how do you make a story where someone starts out dead emotionally interesting like what 's what's her arc going to be other than because it doesn't seem like, you know, for the interstellar bookshelf. You know? I mean , honestly, the big question in God awards so weird is like who blew the horn and summoned , you know, the serpent. And the idea like so many people are immediately jumping to like, I think it's going to be Lao Fei like from the dual sends microphone . I mean, honestly, I really think it might be seriously . The director, Ariel Lawrence , she said that she the way she was she was very cryptic, but she said she discovers something about Kratos and Atreus that makes her feel like she needs to get back. There's some danger . They showed it. And the best part I'm confused about. And for this entire game, it's like, yeah, they showed twenty minutes, but I'm still , hey, we'll see. There's still a lot that they need to show to hook me or fully turn me off from this thing. But just a couple moments I was like, wait, what? Like where she gets to, you know, the everywhere is this afterlife for the gods and then she finds a mask on the skeleton and she goes, What is her line? She goes another mask . Yeah, she's like that mask. If there's another mask, their path isn't safe. I have to find a way back. I was like, that's most confusing thing. So like, I do think it's cool how it helps fuel certain storylines in the last two God of War games. Like the fact that everybody in all those games, like Fey's the best, Fey's the greatest fighter, she's incredible. We made Lievathan the Axe for her. Like the idea that you kind of have some framework for her because of that is awesome. And specifically in Regnarok, the idea of like Odin being obsessed. And this is from their interviews as well, you know, but I think it stands up. But like that Odin was obsessed with like I don't know why we're here . I don't know what happens when the gods die and I'm freaked out about it and that's why I want this mask so I can get some sense of what might come next and so I have a whole game about world that in theory Odin conceptually was so afraid of or just so kind of, I don't know, fascinated with. Like that is a crisp Yeah, to tie it all together. But then again, I'm like , why when she sees a mask that in theories like the mask that's in Ragnarok is her immediate thought my god, there might be another mask. Therefore Atreus and Kratos aren't safe. I have to go back that like' thats not a compelling . I'm sure they're off into me. I mean, that's all stuff we'll find out more in detail. Yeah, but that's what she said . That was her turn was like, well, job, well done. They're on their back. There's a mask. I'm like, what? We talked about this a little during the reaction stream, I am not convinced that this is exactly the twenty minutes that the game will be opening with. And Leo pointed out, I think there's you have access to combat moves that you definitely wouldn't because the complexity of the combat in what they're saying is the first twenty minutes is like way beyond what it would be seemed to be pretty like this is we fought for this. We really wanted to show the first twenty minutes of the game. So I just feel like I don't know you might be right. Probably some tweaks. You know, it's like, I'm sure the basic beats, you know, she'll she'll wake up, she'll be captured, whatever will be similar, but like it does feel like things like that were like, are they putting in a line like this because they don't want to show their whole hand right away or they do want to tease something that's only going to be introduced later, that sort of thing. Yeah, yeah, I guess I could see them being really cagey on that front. Yeah, I'm literally like Kratos' baddy wife. Like, what are we even talking about here? I'm so excited for this game. Like that. Yeah . I think what's cool, what makes me excited for this one is that when Ragnarok was gonna hit and we had the idea of like , what is it like to play as a trait? Can you have a God of war game where you're not just Kratos? And like, what would it be like if you're like just Atreus? Like how is that not gonna suck? Like or feel like a lesser version. And I feel like with Ragnarok, they were able to like rise to that occasion and provide gameplay that I really enjoyed. And I did not miss my time with Cray Douse when I was playing as Atreus. So because I already checked that box, I'm like, okay, I know you can do it. Now you're doing it with a character that I'm wildly interested in. Wow, okay. Like it's like okay, this is good and she can jump around and she kind of has a slight different move set and it has like I think the goofiness of the cube could become an EL. I trust them like their ability to sort of write and do things where it's like, I know the people that made high on life and then the one where the cuff talked to you for spoken or punching there like oh it's cool with me do it but it's not cool when I do it. I do think they'll be able to manage that kind of slap sticky angle. Like I think that looks really fun . And as far as like emotional stakes, I mean, I think it'll be exciting to see her her the emotion and passion she has towards her family. This is like such a doofy comparison, but I rewatched home alone last Christmas as most people do. And the scene where the mom is in the airport. Oh my god. She says, I don't care if I have to get on your runway and hitchhike if it costs me everything I own, if I have to sell my soul to the devil himself I am getting home to my son and I watched that movie like a million times but like this year that I watched it I was like o,h my gosh that, like really hit me like how much she like is yearning to be with her child. Okay, so what if that woman had a sword? Holy fucking hell here sounds awesome . love a mom protagonist. Like it will bring me to tears immediately. Like I think of the beginning Mom and Mommy, I'm so excited. The Mad Max Fury Road Sequel whose title, I'm perfect. Yuryosa . Like the first twenty minutes of Furiosa makes me cry 'cause it's just her mom going after her and trying everything she can to save her. And if that's kind of like , you know, considering bar logs, like, I mean, he's not directing this but his relationship, you know, I'm really extrapolating here, but like if that's kind of like the tone the mood that we're getting from Fae, like I'm gonna I'm super excited. It's I almost I'm surprised like to hear you guys be a little cool on it because I was just so like this is not what I expected and I love it so much and I hear that it's like mom on a mission cool. I just when the mission is let me, immediately undo the basic framework of what the last, you know, twenty years . We don't know that . It's about undoing it. I think it's about almost like a guiding hand, right? Like that's sort of her role like anyway in a way. She knew this whole thing. Wife motivated her being she was actually being even more badass . She wasn't actually dead. It's like detroping the story in an interesting way. That comes from a franchise being around a long time. It's like, I guess it just doesn't it I agree it's the weird it's the weird thing of when you are stitching a story into a pre existing story , you know, where it's I I'm just like I think it's a I think it is possible to pull off, but I do think it's just kind of like a delicate thing to walk where like will it affect my relationship with those other games if I learn that Freya was , you know, knocking down the bridge so that Kratos and Areas could walk over it in fifteen minutes, you know, like I don't know. I want it I just hope that it is, you know, clever and exciting. And I think it's very possible. You know, they're very capable of doing that. But like it is it's it's I think I'm a little scared of the Star Wars thing where they're like, let's find five minutes in which we didn't know what was happening in the galaxy kind of necessary . I do think that they seem , I mean, I think everyone tries to plan out their stories and some people don't find as much success in the execution. I mean , doing stuff like this is hard, but it seems like they have been thinking about all of this stuff for like a really long time and like really laying things out. So I'm not too worried about that, but it'll definitely be interesting to see what happens. I think also like and I hate to admit this but it is kind of true with the pedigree of this franchise in the studio. It's like even if this game isn't as good as I hope it is, it's still gonna be pretty good. So I'm like you're kind of you, know what I mean? Like there's no way there's production value . Even if they miss, it's like, okay, what's the worst? This is the weakest of the three. Like that would suck because it'd be nice if they continued to kind of scale upward because I agree. I feel like Ragnarak is better than twenty eighteen. twenty eighteen is just more like, I don't know , it's cozy in the first of that new ness, but I think Ragnarack is a better game. I think it feels better. I think the store is more interesting. Like I think that is a better video game. So I'd love for them to continue to try upward, but even if they end up taking a step down, it's like I'm still kind of going to win regardless. I'm very excited for this. And especially because when I didn't hear about the rumor, so when I first saw it, I said, Lord, please tell me you're not remaking another game that you made a few years ago. Playstation funny because PlayStation loves to do that. I was so scared. So that was like relief number one. And then after that, I'm like, oh, this is gonna be wildly interesting . And I ye loveah, that they just showed a b likeunch of the mix of gameplay and story. It's just like it's quicker, it's easier. It's better than the like I get when they do it, but I get tired of the like quick trailer and then someone there's like a talking head and they're telling me how like it's God of war, but it's different, yet the same, yet different than the same. Just show me the game. It's for the fans. The other ones work. Yeah, but also for the not fans who also have money that we want. You know, it's like, I don't want to do the whole song in dance. Like, I do . She showed me the game. A cute bonk somebody . She's really tall guy. She's really tall. She's a giant. She's a tall , strong, beautiful wife of Labet. I do think presentationally quiet hall of fame moment. I don't think I've ever seen this before, but I think it's so awesome when it was like, all right, Sony Santa Monica presents whatever their logo, right? And then for the camera to go up and then using the UI that says new game to convey that this is a new game and not so sort of remake that I don't think it's ever been done and it seems so obvious and it's right there and then just hitting that and having her have the big wake up moments like God that is so smart and fun . So you think because I just read that as Tada, this is exactly the reveal is that this is the beginning of the game, but you were like, this is also the trailer communicating to us. It is both. Yeah. And the guy the power is out now. It's exactly that. I'll tell you that maybe we're reading too much into it as like a cute wink. I'll take that over like a bit of dialogue in a three minute trailer where someone's confirms it kind of right yeah for sure for sure. I was I was really into all of it like I just I liked it presentationally and I liked I like what the game is and but by the way, Jacob like I'm totally on the same page with you. It's like, I do hope this is a Fay Story where Fay has her own motivations . I don't really want it to be like I was actually the pillar to a Kratos and Atreos' journey the whole time. Like I don't I don't want that, you know, this is a finger, but one more I don't want like I'm I'm a huge fan of God of War maybe my favorite franchise. Like I don't I feel like I'm sound ing more down on this than I mean to and it's I guess just because you guys are really up and I want to say my concerns. The thing where Kratos helped her up in the first twelve minutes again made me a little worried because it's like we do see her in God of War after like forty hours with Kratos and so again it's like I want I just want the storytelling to be good in the way that I want it, which I feel like I have a very specific idea of like what God of war is, but like I don't I don't want Kratos to just be helping her stand up all game. I think they feel a little compelled almost, like we need to have , you know , Ghost Jedi, Luke Skywalker appear. I think they feel a little bit like this says got to warn the title. Like we got to have cradles popping up every once in a while and here's I think they are going to sprinkle that throughout just to be like, don't worry, it deserves the God of War name, even though the logo, Lao Fei is huge and the God of War is relatively small. And like when this game, the early version was like mentioned to me, it's like they kind of want this to feel like a whole new IP with Faye. And I was like, that sounds cool. So when it was just like God a war. I want to get it. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. But so Jacob, since you're such a fan of, you know, the original trilogy is the idea of like this is the afterlife of the gods, the idea of Fey like encountering probably all the Greek gods that Kratos killed, is that like peeking at ? That's really interesting. Yeah, I mean it's always like people have been talking about since literally like the first God of war they've teased like maybe you're going to go to other mythologies and and so like that that concept exciting and the idea of yeah meeting Poseidon with his eyes gouged out because Kratos gouged his eyes out it's a very intriguing concept to me. Yeah, so actually I think something else that I'm wrestling with is like, I love the idea in theory of like thinking for so long about what pathology going to do next. And they're like, I just kind of all of them, just kind of scattershot all of them like, oh cool, all right, that's you know I',m going to learn about the, it's the Mongolian is how they phrase it, Kyle, the Mongolian God of War here. Oh, I just googled the name and so Tibet. It's a Mongolian. Okay. This is what's funny. I think about the franchise and mythology in general is apparently the Mongolian God of War kind of evolved to be the Tibetan Buddhist God of Wars, it's kind of that same trajectory . By the way, I didn't Google it, I ducked duck goed. Look at you guys , I gotta get that. Get it started. Get it started. Yeah. Look at that Great up. Also really quick for like Kratos appearing because I agreed it would be weird if like every two seconds it's like and then Kratos help me out . I definitely don't want that. But in the setting of this trailer, I really liked Kratos appearing because it kind of added like it's fun to see little glimpses of the relationship, especially because Kratos is such like a stern jerk. It's like the idea it's like it is kind of that like it's weird that you have a romantic relationship and then that would work. So like him like putting his hand out and then her like going up and being like Kratos, it's kind of like ooh, I kind of see what you see in him now like I don't know I kind of liked like that element kind of has the weird thing about that and not again not, saying it's bad. They got clearly they got married or whatever they did in Norse mythology, but it's like Kratos' entire arc over two games was becoming like not a giant jackass . And so then it's like, well, how is Fay going to remember him from the beginning of his arc? Because it's like, I love where Kratos ends at the end of Ragnarok, but like that's really different from where he starts in twenty eighteen But you're also different from people to different people though. So I think like who you are as a dad is different than who you are as a partner. Terrible dad. Pretty good husband. Yeah. Actually I mean, like , again, I don't want to get too into like the actual like how people are in real life versus like this g iname. But I do think there's there's a different like the idea of like what is like, you know , tender partner Kratos versus like dad Kratos versus like I don't know it was kind of a cool little a cool little energy there. I was like, ooh, I don't know, I kind of like when she got picked up like that. You're extra vulnerable with your wife, you know? I think there's something. But like, so I think thinking about the setting and the idea of like, okay, all these different guys it's exciting. I think with thinking about what I loved about the last two games though , is like the specificity and the tone and like the mystery, maybe it's just because I like Scandinian mythology, but like starting out the twenty eighteen game be like, oh my god, which gods are you going to encounter next? I can't wait to see how to do with this. I can't wait to see what they do this. And just like soaking in that world . And there's something about just like generation remakes, here's a bunch of Legos all dumped in the same thing. Like, I don't know if I'm ready to like soak in just it's a fantasy world where anything can happen. Like I hope it's a specific flavor and they're like there's a reason why these specific mythologies are here. Maybe. Maybe that they all existed kind of around the same time because it's like I don't think we're seeing Jesus Christ in this game about that that would pull me in so fast of course that would be huge it would be a huge get the licensing was so much behind the scenes stuff that would have to happen. Yeah, yeah. But for natification of God of war Jesus is in here now and I just feel like they kind of lost a lot. But I do forces . What are we waiting for? Yeah , he's he's not IP. So it's like that is, I think, the make or break for me is will I care in a big way about this world ? Or is just the fun of like you never know what God from any mythology can pop up at any point you'll learn a lot about it? Like maybe that's going to be enough to kind of pull me through in that way. But like I think it's still that idea of I'm glad they took a big swing at the same time, yeah, new protagonist, new setting, new creative team. I mean, new director. It's awesome. She was the editor for trailers for God of War One. Like she goes way back. And so that's super cool to see. One, like one . One two thousand five. Yes. That's awesome. Yeah. Oh my god. It was like a trailer. She wasn't even full time, I think, right? She had a fun story in that interview where she was like I came and edited trailers and then I wanted to stay. So I just was like, do you have any jobs? I am really curious though because like she left when there were jobs. I miss those. Imagine. But she left , I think after twenty eighteen? No, I'm sorry, after Ascension, and then she came back in Gotta war for twenty eighteen . But I am curious about this project and how it started. Alana Pierce apparently wrote for it for four years. This was the game she was working on, which is super cool to see. She can finally reveal that. But the idea of like, okay, was the original idea that Corey Barlock was going to direct it because it certainly seemed like Ariel came back and they're like, Hey, by the way, there's this other game if you want to do progress. Yeah , that already started. So I am curious if you didn't have a director or if Corey as so important as like, you know what directing these games takes years off your life. I don't want to do it again. But anyway, so that's the game director here. And then narrative director is somebody named Jimmy Myers who came from Call of Duty , Infinity Award stuff recently. And then the lead writer worked on like AC Origins, Watch d Logesgion, Gotham Knights s, that' her pedigree. And so it is just the idea of like, I love the writing in the last two God games in particular. Those writers are not on this. They technically wrote Sons of Sparta, maybe they're working on the next Kratos game because they very much said like, Hey, Kratos is the meat and potatoes. We'll be back to Kratos in the future. So it is just that feeling of like they have a huge budget and so much talent in that studio. So Jane, I'm totally with it. It's gonna be a spectacle. It's going to be awesome to playthrough, but there is just something about not quite at that level that I need for getting super soaked in quite yet . But is it is it scary that Sony half of Sony seems to be making God of war games . If there's this happening, the remakes of all three of the original and also a new Kratos game. Yeah. Like that's that's kind of like Microsoft being like and we've got seven halos in development. So look out they didn't say that they are working on a new credit game as much as they said we will always like he will always be a core part of Garubar. Right. Okay. Does that make sense? Like so but point still stands. They're working on a lot of God of war stuff. Yeah. Yeah. And they can't the multiplayer game. So there's one less God of War project out there than you think as well. But hey, yeah, can I put on a spoiler hat real quick for God of Warons S of Sp arta. Would you guys be okay with that? I would love to hear some spoilers Timestamps below if you want to dodge some of those sports spoilers, please. Janet, you beat the game, right? Hell yeah, I did. Yeah. So Jack Quaid plays a character in Sons of Sparta named Ice, I think is a EIS. And the sort of like the twist at the end is like you realize that like this is like a really close friend that's important to Kratos and his Ice is a nickname and his name is Atreus . So Atreus is named after a character that Jack Quade played in Sons of Sparta . That's confusing. And so Jack Quade voices the cosmic cube Frank, which is in a very way. So I was like, why is this coming? Yeah, sorry . So but he appears to be a completely different character . So maybe he's turned if you know you know I don't please don't worry for me. Ice Cube . Oh my god . Hey, why dodgers get everything, don't they? That is interesting, Kyle. Should we stop spoilers at this point? It was the most interesting now. We'll never get to talk about so sport ever again. That was the most interesting narrative. This is one more time than I thought we'd get to talk about it, Kyle. So I'm glad we got this together. My question and this is naive , like Chat was popping off like, I think that's Jack Quidd. Why does everyone like Jack Quidd? He was in some movie where he couldn't die or something. Golden Boy. Why? He's one of the main characters of theys, B whicho despite how it ended was a very popular show, but also like and had a good cast wasn't there . He's a he's a great he's a great interview. He's a very funny guy. He pops up on lots of I mean, he's always sending like they have a whole running bit with him on the Lonely Island podcast. There was the reason thing where like didn't Greg Miller call him or something? You know, it's like he 's just very like he's very game to do stuff and like it's just like a celebrity in really good standing with everyone . So I think actors you can like him and then you're excited when you say it. Okay. I also he's also one of the few , not a few of this might not be fair, but his parents are famous and he is like one of the few actors that's like, yeah, I had like a leg up. Like I knew where to call an agent . Like I had help . Like that's an honesty . Yeah, like he's like, I am a Nepo baby. And I appreciate that from him just being huge. Not that we don't like you because you have famous parents, you're an actor that we like to watch . We just want you to share that like you had help. That's all we want you to admit. Yeah. I went from never seeing him in anything to now suddenly being his biggest fan because Chat's telling me that apparently every time Greg Miller calls him up, he answers as Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z one should answer, it's just proper phone . Yeah, come on, basic stuff. You know, that's the first phone you're supposed to answer like that. That's what Graham Bell said . That's right It is funny. I look at the in the video for Lao Fei. Welcome to the Lao Fei podcast, by the way, is when they're like, alright, it's an afterlife for God. This powerful giant is coming through a crack in the wall. Let's grab her and then just like throw her in a bone jail. Like the easiest thing in a world wicker cage exactly. This will take care of that God. All right, move on. There's probably magic on the edges of this. I'm not seeing any magic. There's magic on the other one where the cube is sitting again, but not that one, but I can almost squeeze through the bars, which is not press R two. It's so hard for me. When those habit triggers got to really pull ed out and it'll work out my right finger. Yeah . Jacob, what was your biggest pop for the show ? Ace combat eight, maybe. Oh, you're talking about that was this is a whole like personal plot arc that's happened basically since the last time I was on the podcast is I played Ace Combat seven and I was like, how have I not been obsessed with these games forever? Yeah, Sarah, you know, streamed ace combat seven a little while ago as well. And like, oh, it's just wild anime story more than you could possibly imagine. 'Cause like, I loved this combat four on PS two . And it is fun that it has like a whole new wave of energy. It almost feels a little bit like not the same. Obviously we have like that armored core of like we've been told the series is good all along. Why aren't you people playing this? And I mean, it's very similar to Armored Core in that like you are kind of like you have this machine that you are personalizing per mission and you're like, okay, this one there's a lot of ground troops so I'm going to do like a one that can carry more bombs or whatever. But yeah, it's, you know, like I loved seven. I played it on PC. I have gone back to zero , which is one that a lot of people say is their favorite, and they actually announced as like a pre order bonus. You can get not really a remaster but just like a port of zero to play on your PS five, I guess , but it is for me starting with seven it's like the the visuals of that one are so astounding and like the sense of speed and whatever that going back to the PS two feels like a big step back you know and then it's like ace combat seven basically looks like you were like watching a real life dog fight and then the PS two one is, you know, little triangles flying around a flat landscape and so I'm just like, yeah, the stories of these are very goofy and and they put a lot like more work into the story than one would expect from the outside . But really it's just like there is so much fun and flexibility in how you can make your plane and like replay ing the levels with new gear and trying to get, you know, better times, better scores, do it on higher difficulties, whatever . It just, yeah, I'm I'm very excited to have a new modern one to play . So the world in Ace Combat's called Strange Real and then Thieve is going to be like a country in Strange Real is how it's called am incapable of answering questions about the lore because there is so much more than that I'm familiar with. That's about as close as we get to GTI six's launch window in November with an october second release for AceCombat eight because the funny thing that popped up throughout this entire presentation was everybody now just to stay completely clear in case GTA six thinks about moving up in the schedule is everyone's just like September is as late as we can go before getting into the GTA six blast zone. So here's the rundown for today . I wish every year was like that because at a certain point I'm like, I kind of entire two games coming out 'cause I can't finish them. It's going to be perfect for two ten's planning. I think you're right. Yeah. Finally, if you have every year they should do that. Except for GTA. What is the current GTA release date? November seventeenth or is it twentieth ? You get a quick twenty hours and it's time to think about it. We have to have roughly eighteen days to play GT A six before deciding if it's the greatest game of all time. Yeah, nineteenth of November before we have to crown it as number one slot. That'll be a discussion that we can have later in the year. Let's not forget number two to slay this fire two, which is crazy. You know what I expect? Yeah, it is crazy that it's number two to slay the spire two. Yeah, a game that I haven't done. Yeah, look at that. But hey, September, here's the runo. September third is the Boodl of Dawn Walker, current game of former cover from the Witcher Three Director, Big RPG . Marvel's Wolverine, september fifteenth. Lego Batman on Switch two, technically now september eighteenth, control resident, september twenty fourth, Silent Silent Hill Townfall september twenty fourth and then show us the more I see it, frankly, I was I was not that interested in it, but the more I see it, the more I'm kind of like, huh, I think I'm excited for a new silent hill game. I'm bullish on that game. Are you? I think it's gonna be good. It's in Scotland. And you love Scotland. You love Silent Hill it's first person, which I think is cool. That is, that is funky. Yeah, it seems like a lot of stuff with the radio scanner. I'm kind of curious how important that that given was like Alan Wake to me in Redy. I was like, is this Allan Wake? And then I was like, Oh, it's Allen Hill. I guess people could say one and then the other and then the order and the da da influence and all that, but yeah, look. I saw it and I thought Allen Wake. Well fun,n ity' thats it 's likeing launch the same day as a remedy game with control launching on the twenty fourth. Also Allen Wake. It's like the art ist the art direction. Yeah, that's true, but the art direction of it like made me think of that. Yeah, yeah, I can see it. But then Oni Musho was Shop september twenty fifth, just for the full September rundown as it stands now. But it's funny to think of and it's the kind of ha unny when it comes to people's livelihoods as well. It's just thinking about like remedy with the release dates. They had to move last time they ann 'oucausenced their release date the same at time as Spider Man two, I think it was like the same SGF showcase or whatever it was or the Game Awards. And they were launching too close. And so they ended up sliding Alan Wake two just to get outside like a week later, I think, a couple maybe a little more than a week from Spider Man two. And they were transparent about that too, weren't they? Which was cool, right? Yeah. Yeah. And now it's like, oh, sorry, you are coming out now a week after Marvel's Wolverine. You and Insomniac are just like locked in to the same timeline if yeah, if they do slide a little bit or if this one is going to be an acceptable window, Kyle check of a wolverine there. That was a biggie to start the show with. Chink . Yeah , I don't know. It looks cool. I'm excited to play it. But I don't know why the violence struck me as sod. I just had one of those moments of like this is like this is like our forward facing beginning of the show. This is my favorite entertainment medium blades in necks and through facing three knives going through a woman's head. I don't know why it was like putting me off in a weird way because normally I'm I don't you know, I play games and I play Gory games and I enjoy them. But for regardless of that, like it looks the action looks cool. I actually was like I got some Yote Sushima sort of movement like reminders of just the way you can like walk up like tree trunks that are like sideways and stuff like that and like, you know , doing instant kills from high above and stuff like that which is like a compliment. Like I really like the action of Sushima Yote. So I'm excited for that game. Yeah, I think it looks cool, but I'm not like I wouldn't put it on like my most anticipated mainly because I can take or leave the character . I don't really have any affinity or affection for Wolverine necessarily. It is interesting. Like thinking about Wolverine getting a big game, that's exciting. There is a part of me that's like, well, you know, you know what's like a core fantasy for almost every human being on planet Earth being Spider Man and swinging through the city streets of Spider Man. You're just having the colossal No, that's where I'm going is an idea of like every time he ejects those blades, it's like it hurts. Right? I don't want to I don't want to get Hoyt, but that idea of like, I don't know, Wolverine's cool character, I don't know what percentage of people are like, I've always dreamt of being Wolverine. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but I'm like, I don't think you have to dream of being Wolverine that do endure it, but at the same time, can I say something that's like kind of messed up? I feel like people are gonna get mad about this. It kind of looks like looking at this wolverine gameplay, it kind of looks like you just modded Wolverine into a different game . What does that mean? Because it when I think of Wolverine, I'm not thinking necessarily of like I'm stealthing around. It's just a lot of the gameplay and maybe I don't know, it's the third person action styles, but then you can also like knock people out melee style is very like explored territory. So maybe there's just not so many things you can do, but kind of to Kyle's point of like seeing other games in this . It I don't know, it just feels very regular. It's like, okay, I'm kind of lurching around that I'm doing the takedown that was the biggest like that was like, you know, ten percent of the presentation. The rest was just kind of like action in him slicing up so much that blood was pouring in the streets . No, I think I think Janet has a point in that it is like I liked and I said during our react, I liked that it does not actually seem so much that it's a game where you are going to try and take out everyone without being seen, but more you're gonna sneak up behind one guy and then kick him loudly into a group of guys while this mem embering him . But I do also think it's kind of why the violence reads so weird is it is very familiar as that kind of spider man insomnia aesthetic of like bright , colorful , you know, cartoony video game superhero characters, which worked so well for Spider Man and then seeing , you know, spines fly out of people's body in that aesthetic is like weird and it's nailed. I think that's what it was. It's like this looks like that Spiderman game I like. But oh gosh that's okay that eyeball's gone okay I'm very aware like in interviews and stuff they've talked a lot about it and you know, they have a fair take of like , we're making a wolverine game. What would you have us do? Like we have to have the claws sliced through and that sorry it means a lot of blood's going to pour out. They definitely are relishing it in a way. Like it's it is absurd necessarily . Like Wolverine has been in other games where this isn't happening. You know, and I 'm the only person in the world excited about that game ill coming out. So I'm not like gore squeamish, but I do think that there's a little just a mismatch in tone of kind of like I think a lot of people are having this reaction to the violence. There's a good kataku article by John Walker kind of talking about it. And it's not just like, oh, I don't like blood. It's like for some reason this combination of things feels a little uncanny. Yeah, and you can turn off the blood, but you're still gonna then watch claws just go through somebody's face that gets without blood coming out they said they said actually in Walker's article it said you can turn off the blood, you can turn off dismemberment, you can actually even choose to censor when the cloths go through someone's face. So there are a lot of diagrams that you can turn. I'm as a combat person, I'm actually very excited for this just because like the kind of fighting that Wolverine is doing looks more exciting to me than the kind of fighting that Spider Man did. And I like I was excited that it doesn't look like enemies are just having big flashing kind of counter highlights above their head. It might have been turned off for the program. Hard to know , but like you know, I'm excited about a little more like skill based fighting system . So I'm I'm hyped on this game, but it is with that kind of weird caveat of like hope the tone of this works . Yeah, I hear that. So in a variety interview where they talked about in combat, it's like, yeah, okay, so he's constantly just regenerating health. How do you make that work? And it's kind of interesting solution is they're like, well , he still heals , but in combat, he's so focused on the combat, he's not focused on his healing. So the healing goes really, really slow unless you like pop a whole adrenaline thing. But outside of combat, he regenerates much quicker. So, yeah, that's a video game thing. That works for me. Like I don't need any more explains than that. Every caught a soldier. I guess they're wolverine . Of course . I was surprised that Gene Gray's in it, you know, along with the what, Saber Truth got a handful of other expand Omega. It looks just like Jesse Faiden in this. Yeah, and actually really does it. Usually crazy. Yeah. Jesse Fayden looks like Jing Grey, I'm under leasure. But I was surprised that it's like, oh, this is the first time they met . And so in this world, I explained in the Variety interview, they're like X men don't exist . There is an X team where it's a couple of mutants trying to protect other mutants from being kidnapped and sent to trasque yada yada y,ad a. So it's like, okay, so then the roadmap is going to be the very end post credits tees of this game. Maybe not a Spiderman cameo, but instead it'll be like I'm thinking about forming a school, you know, like classic X Men Found andation for it and go to the future, man . Exciting set for work. Exciting sentence. Thinking of you're telling me that he's wearing that costume and X Men does not exist He just chose it for himself and everybody' nots part of a team chooses. They let anyone go to the fabric store just because I know it's so hard to understand. The yellow is his enemy's urine . Oh , it's kind of a mature take on it. Smart. Yeah. I did like the highwombat sequence they showed. Like that kind of had a little bit more like oomph to it. I mean though some of that stuff can be like hard like the vehicle to not can be kind of hard to get right feel wise but I thought that was like probably the most intriguing part versus like when they're just kind of in the sort of like the shipping cargo area. Like that felt very expected to me . So we'll see. I'm sure it'll be fine. I don't know. It's hard to be I didn't see anything that got me necessarily more excited, but I'm down to play it because it's an insomniac game. It's superhero stuff. It'll probably be at least pretty good . But yeah, it'll be interesting to see where this stands like alongside Spider Man. I know people are probably sick of the comparisons, but like it's just impossible and almost silly not to have a little bit of that conversation because it is same studio . Also superhero stuff, you know, they've got they really made like a name not a name for themselves 'cause obviously they've been known for forever, but like Spider Man really worked. And it's like, will Marvel's Wolverine be like a new thing complementing that or will it feel like their sort of lesser project? I think is the question that I'm excited to answer once this is out. Yeah, for sure. The boys season five being so fresh in my mind, it is an example of if you have a really straightforward like simple, family friendly themes to your story, but you just put in cuss words and v iolence on top of it. It just hits as like super condescending and weird. So it's really to say that's what's happening with this game, but I think that's a recent example of the tone ruining the whole thing that I'll be curious to see where they go. If it's mature in other ways besides just it's got mortal combat fatalities in it. Right, right. Yeah, it's the creator director is Marcus Smith, who goes way back at Insomniac for like the Resistance series and stuff like that. And like, he left for a while to work on Perfect Dark and then came back. Boot, that was him. And so like his last game that he directed was Miles Morales and Rift Apart. It's like all right, two great games, you know, it's like a great leadership team at least over there. Yeah, I mean, I mean, worth saying super excited for a linear game in them. Yeah, you know, that it's like a big difference between this and Spider Man. Spider Man obviously has like great linear missions within an open world, but like I am very excited for just here's a big budget linear game to play . Speaking of big budget linear , about as linear in a way as a game can get of do this thing or fail , Leo, are you a stuntman were you excited about this thing ? Yeah, we'd be great surprised to have that bag. Perfect. Missions like , yeah, specific to the movie you're working on, you have to hit this cool tent pole stunt, hit this jump in the right way, hit this hit all these boxes on the way, little but ch challenges. Yeah, it's a type of game that we don't get that much anymore. Yeah, it's funny. It's like Stuntman Hollywood is the name of the game. And I probably should have picked up or maybe chat should have the video. I was like, oh, I guess that was like a fast and furious, iconic car in the beginning . But then as the trailer keeps going, it's like, alright, now we have Kit from Night Rider, now we have the Dolore from Back of the Future. And so the whole ang le here is we're just working in a bunch of different specifically universal IP cars that we're working into Stuntman and Hollywood , which is a funny day they like,' oreh, these are like mad Max cars, technically death race cars , but they just look like Mad Max cars. So we're not actually gonna have Ben Max's arm. Do you think you're gonna be driving Ben? You think you're going to drive a Jurassic Park? This is exactly specifically , I'd even be up for like lost world vehicles. Like there's so many fun vehicles you could do in there, but the weird part is like I guess drive that RV off the cliff . Oh my god . Imagine the dream. You drive a little car on the glass of the RV trying to mount to make it crash. Or you're just you're just trying to pull the RV up and it's just hold down R two as like you look up and see a T Rex just staring you down. Good game Odin and God of poor ragnarok many years later. Oh good. But it's weird to think of like, well, hang on, I mean, you're filming a movie and the point of these games is like, do it again, you gotta do this word thing just the right way, Yada, yada, and maybe it'll be a little more free form this time around, but like, it's not like the Dolores gonna be able to go back in time. It's just like a Dolorean on a film set. So I actually like because like, you know, I'm sure we're all getting a little cynical and jaded about like Fortnite stuff where it's like yeah, the Deloreans here, whatever, like who cares? Like but I do like that it's contextualized here. I like the idea that I'm like trying to do a scene from the movie back to the future in theory. Yeah, like that's the more fun integration of like a recognizable car to me than just like in Rocket League you can dri,ve the Doloreian now, you know? I think also this is such a Hollywood dorky angle, but Janet, hopefully you're on board with me is like, I hope you get to drive through the universal back lot. Like the studio lot. Let me look what's that? Hub world . Yes, it's a perfect hubby safe. Like the city set from back to the future, like let me drive around that physically. And then there's even a whole section of the Universal Studio backlot tour where they have a bunch of universal cars sitting there. Like hey, here's some iconic cars and they have like the lost world vehicle there and stuff like that . But the one I was thinking about is like, oh, the Flintstones car was on that set. So like if we get to have the Flintstones car and as a stuntman, you're just like walking with your feet really fast. That sounds freaking fantastic. My expectations are low for that happening, but I love that idea. Why not? Obviously it's not like it's like wildly relevant. Like this is a new game, but what's what's the history of this franchise? Like what's going on here? Because I saw this. I'm not familiar with the franchise. And then I had to look up like, has this already existed because it feels like maybe it did . And you know, like, did y'all play like those old games? What was the reception like? Is there something you were looking for because of that? They were solid sevens. So like on PS two, there was Stunt Man, which was one that I really loved, but like load times were abysmal like crap power of that SSD frost. That'll save it. It was also challenging too , which I think because it's like do this perfectly oh you got it wrong. Let's load . It was tough. I did not make it very far in those games, but I've always really liked them conceptually. And then ignition was a second one on three hundred and sixty. Yeah. Gener wise, does it feel like a racing game? Or does it kind of feel like a tricks game? Like what should I expect with this? Or Katie Racing, I think? Yeah. Yeah , do this thing and capture it. Here's a little mission. The weird part though, Janet is like on the PlayStation blog, Saber Interactive, who's developing this, they said we're taking inspiration from the original Stuntman games with burnout and split second also being especially important touchstones for us . That's an interesting thing to throw in there . But downs and rewinding, right? I guess that's what that means, yeah. But I am curious about Saber Interactive because you might have noticed like their name is popping up absolutely everywhere. I had to go look for the games that they're publishing and then developing. And these are all games I believe yeah, that they're publishing internally . John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, which came out earlier this year, Road Kings, Clive Barker's Hellraiser Revival, Jurassic Park Survival , the Cotour remake, which that alone would be like everything. Avatar the last Airbender game, Turk Origins, Space Fighting or a different one. I think a different one, yeah. Stuntman and the John Wick game . Like all of that from a studio that's not that big, it's confusing. They have about thirteen hundred people best I can figure they're also published. They're developing or published developing all that. They're publishing a game called Bus Bound . Unless they've shifted some of these to different studios and they've shifted publishing these, but like that slate would be too much for like a Ubisoft to handle with tens of thousands of employees. You know, it's like, this is odd. And it makes me worried about the future of the most important game Jurastic Arc survival, obviously. Hard not to have my cinnamon brain activated by a list like that. You want to hear like, oh, somebody's had a great idea for a new stuntman game or exciting is their favorite franchise they want to break versus like, oh, we already did Toxic Commando. So I guess we'll go on down to Stuntman next . I mean, but on the give some benefit of the Dowel Palestin it's like most of those games feel like good candidate games. You know, it's like I don't think a stuntman game needs an enormous budget other than I don't know this licensing , which maybe they get for free . You know, the John Wick game does not need to look like the new James Bond game, you know, like these things are a lot of them are manageable projects. A lot of them also like Kotor, I don't know how you do on a small budget , you know, whatever. So there are definitely reasons to panic. But it's like some of these are like, you could make this game for not an impossible amount of money in people . Yeah. Yeah . I'm most curious about Jessica Park Survival because another game that was very exciting, revealed during this was from Anaperna publishing and it's called The Lost Wild , you know, The Lost Wild as they all say , which it just seems like it's alien isolation, but with dinosaurs, which is awesome. And they say it's coming twenty twenty seven . But it is weird because that felt like the entire pitch for Drastic Works survival. So if this game beats that one out of the gate, now is everyone going to be red hot on Lost Wild and everyone will just be like, oh , Jurassic Park, that wanna be lost wild game is just weird to be like Hell Divers and then, you know, a Starship Troopers game did come out. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Recyling everyone was like, We're busy playing hell divers. Starship Troopers the game. Right. If they can pull this off, but it's a new team, I believe, building lost wild. And so fingers crossed, but who knows, but I'm interested. And have you seen the trailer for the movie The End of Oak Street? I have. I'm excited. I just saw that trailer. Yeah, so the director of it follows, produced by JJ Abrams. And it's like, you know, when talking about what they should do with the Jurassic franchise, I'm like, just do Jurassic Town. Just do like two raptors in a small town. That seems different than seeing it's fun. And I feel like that's kind of what that trailer is. And so I'm hoping it this is weird. I hope it doesn't feel too much like where Jurassic World has gone. Like I don't want every dinosaur to be crazed manic. Hungry for everything. Like I want them to be a little bit more like big animals and a little more chill at times. So that's so sweet. I don't know. I want them to be a different tone, but in theory, I am all into it. You want to be friends with them? Well just in them. Until they got into that mess, you know? Yes, that's true. They want a different tone too. It didn's to work out . Getting that flash of like from the director of It Follows is so weird because that movie basically looks like Zathora or like Jumanji, like it kind of looks like what if a weird thing happened to a family? And then it's like from the director of one of the scariest movies you've ever seen . And under the Silver Lakes, which if anybody's seen that, you see this and you go, Oh, he wants to get back into the industry. He wants them to let him make movies again. Good for him. Oh, is that last one Rough? It was a scathing attack on the whole industry that they basically buried the release of. It's an awesome movie. Oh , wow, weird. What do you think is going on there? Is everybody inside ? I don't know . Why do you do that? It's like a crazy conspiracy theory movie. That's a total head trip and so much crazier than it follows. It's this blank check movie after it falls pretty much. Okay, yeah. It's one of my favorite movies ever. But it is like the big swing back, you go, okay, I guess it probably didn't had some trouble getting financing after this for a lot of reasons. Huh, funky. Just like Ubisoft is having trouble getting financing, so they decided to make a remake of Rayman Legends ladies and gentlemen . Raymond Legends one of my favorite T platformers . Like one of my favorite , this is weird to say, one of my favorite Wii U games. I do think like co op using the Wii U game pad is like some of my favorite co op of my entire gaming life. Like that was such a blast. I love Raymond Legends. I love Raymond Origin s. The idea of here's a new version of Rayman Legends without the hand drawn art style, but it looks good just in a different kind of way . I am perplexed by this janit because this is a game I was teasing a little bit of the podcast a while ago of like it's an old classic brought back in a new way because the pitch was very much like we turned Rayman Legends into a three D platformer. I was like that, sounds bizarre. And then I see gameplay and I'm like, What are they talking about? No, it just like it still looks like the same thing. It's like more two and a half D, I guess. They have three D models. Like that's kind of the, you know, I guess the extent of it because yeah, it is very much still like left to right . I was able to play build of this game, which is Rayman Legends Retold and definitely was bummed when I was informed that it's not a new Roman game. It's just an old River game but I got like oh look I played Legends loved it but Origins also love that. I think they're both great. Yeah. Do you think Legends is probably better than origins if memory serves correctly ? But the gap is not significantly not to blow origins, but like I let blow origins out of the water. Yeah. Huh? I don't remember the gap being that big, but I'm inclined to believe you because I don't really remember the music levels of particular in legends, I feel like really elevate it. me Omurory is elevated. But they're both great. Like I recommend you play both of them if you have not already. They're fantastic times . This game, I mean, if you've never played them, you'd be like, yeah, this is great because it still has all the great level design that you know from the original. It's like pretty much one to one. Before this episode, I booted up Rayman Legends and then I looked at my footage of playing Rayman Legends retold. And it is quite literally like one to one the same in like the design . There are a couple differences to note. One, there will be some new gameplay added to Rayman Legends retold. They're going to have like an additional world and then so and that'll have its own little mechanic. So there a' littles bit new there and the big new thing that they shut off a bit in this trailer like those dragon riding levels and that's like totally three D like you know you're staring down the barrel almost like a crash bandic if was mo heving the right in direction, right where you're going into the background like three dimensionally . But frankly, I played like one or two of those levels. I didn't really like them. Maybe I'm just not used to how they like control because it is very different than like how the regular levels control . But it kind of felt like a worse version of what they just did in the new Doom game because it also had dragon riding. What was cool about what they did in Doom is that they had the dragon riding. It felt a little different, but then they'd also have these areas where we get off the dragon do kind of, more classic Zoom combat and then go back. This is just like we're just on the dragon and it's weird because they invert how you normally play the level in terms of the collectibles. So normally you're collecting the little guys and you want to get all of them. When you do the dragon levels, you have all the little guys and each hit you lose a guy. I kind of hate that . Like it makes me like feel like I have to play this level perfect tonight and it's not like wildly hard, but it just feels so much less fun than like the point of so many platformers is to look for the thing because looking for the thing allows you to engage with the design on a more specific level, on a deeper level, like look over the things more carefully. and that's the fun Like it's not really about sure it's nice to see like nine out of nine for something and you feel good you get the serotonin, maybe you get some unlocks or whatever, but the real point of like why platformers are so collectable based is because it's like gives you a way to like engage with the level design. It also offers like an interactive guiding hand in a way that like no other genre does where like everyone's always pissed at like the paint. It's like Mario's full of the paint. It's just coins, but like the coins , they are more fun, and that does make it different and more engaging. And it's like a real strength to the genre. So I find it really weird that they sort of like invert that for those levels. So they did feel quite weak to me in that sense. Yeah, like I it's weird because like I think I'll play this just to see the new stuff and then it gives me a reason to play it again, you know, co op. Maybe with Isaiah, he's already played the old game. So I don't know much he wants to play this new one. That's the same one again , but it is just a bummer of the I hate that they're stuck in the middle with this a little bit where you're doing three D. I thought you were going to totally kind of reimagine this and put it in like a full three D context , but you didn't. So it feels like what am I really gaining here ? And I don't know that I'm gaining enough to like really recommend it to people that already played the originals . And then even for the new people, it's kind of like I do kind of like how the old art looked. Like I pulled it up and I do think it looks kind of better and they're not obviously done pulling up yeah they're also still working on legends retold to some degree right it's not out yet like the build I played says like work in progress so sure maybe they'll add this stuff later, but I was taking like a closer eye, like comparing one to one . And just some of the details they changed, I don't I don't quite like because I think they are going for that realism. They lose some of that cartoony nature. So like a small example is in the first level there's like ghosts that are going like vertically that you have to hit to get past. In the original, they have cartoonish eyes and here they like don't. And that's like such a small nitpicky thing, but like if you're asking me to play a game again that I already played . What else can I bring to the table then to kind of comb over these details? And I think they do kind of lose a bit of that. I don't know that I like the voice acting. I don't know that we needed that the big thing. Rayman did not talk in ver, basically, right? I think No, and here he does quite a few barks too. He'll be like, easy. Like it's like, oh, okay, like I don't know any I don't know any more. That's I mean, Jacob made the comparison, which I think is very apt of like, oh it feel,s like the Starfox remake, where the big hook for the remake is like, we've added a bunch of cutscenes. It's like, I don't. In Starfox, I'm looking forward to those cutscenes. In Rayman, like, I desperately don't want to see those cutscenes of like HD Rayman spinning his hair in my face. Hair whipping around. Yeah, it's I don't want that. I don't want to hear his dopey voice. Please, let me is incredible though. All the strands they're kind of I forgot what article it was so I don't know if anyone can like pull it up, but I think someone maybe who's on polygon, I think, wrote like did an interview with the team and they said, Oh, the reins were we making it because we didn't like the ending. What are we talking about? I don't know. Like I have no idea what you're talking about . Like I and don't know may,be the final level wasn't grand horse enough. Legends? No, everyone just remembers that it's really well designed. Did that game have a story? I couldn't tell that. We really thought all the characters should have died . Yeah, they're like, it just feels like the stakes that we left Raymond off with like what are we talking about ? So yeah, it's like it's a weird situation where it's like I don't want to necessarily be totally down on it but it just I just it just feels like a little bit of an unnecessary addition. And like the only thing I can say that's positive is like I'm curious to see what that extra world is and like and I kind of wish I could just play that immediately and not have to go through it. Yes. Grant Kirk composed new music for it, which is kind of fun . And the thing that we haven't mentioned yet, that's maybe the real secret benefit of getting this thing is in the press release, they say, quote, Kung Foot returns with improved controls, power ups , and customizable rules, delivering hours of frenzied competition. And as the world's number one expert on kung foot, the excellent minigamer ream led to the even. I think that could be like that is exciting to me that they're leaning into kung foot more for ranked play. Honestly, ranked kung foot play I'm all in. How are you doing? We have to do like no did you play now? Did you play kung foot? Yeah. I didn't play. Janet. We got to play kung foot together, dude. Well, neutral uses I can't wait for people not to vote on it because no one cares about kunk foot. Disagree but no, not even. I don't know . It's two D soccer. It's like imagine soccer but better. I think I if've had to describe it, maybe but I mean, I guess I shouldn't be so down on it. I was obsessed with that stupid trampoline game and the Mario sixty four DS really throw I can't really throw stones, but also I mean I think the trampoline game is probably better than that like I know it is not. I promise it's not. You didn't like getting that high score. I had a fine time. All right, I'm writing this down. Trump foot like if soccer was popular . Right, right. That is so nice. No, I mean, it's fine. We do like a on the street thing where we just show children pictures of Rayman and are like you find this character appealing I really feel like it's like he's he's like Sonic except he hasn't evolved to be like appealing to the children of today . It's just like it's weird that this is still it's the most like nineties looking character I've ever seen and we're just like he's still here we assume you like him because you liked him thirty years ago Accdotal evidence, Jacob, but Rayman Legends, which is maybe one of the reasons I'm like, Oh, it blows origins out of the water. Rayman Legends was an early father dau ghter game for me. My daughter weirdly gravitated towards it. But I was like playing video games for the first time. Like that's what she wanted to play. And I was like, it was a Viking girl. That's it. There's no way she was playing right . Yeah, yeah. That was great. It's like, did either of us play as Rayman? Probably not. I don't know Globox has a better frickin' design These days they don't know they experience the raving rabbits. They don't know what they're missing . They just experience every version of everything they ever watched being some version of the Raven River. This is Lim's fault. I think what's really cool about Rayman is that he's a weirdo that actually has a good game because I think a lot of these platforming weirdos like you don't actually have a good game though you're, just like weird and different. But kids don't know that. Yeah, I know, but kids don't know anything. The first time on Earth? Earlier than us because it's all our first time on Earth, but we've been here for longer long enough to have played the better version of the game that Ubisoft is remake. Right, Rob. If you're kid comments the stuff you know, list it out. Yeah . Yeah. By the way, Janet, I mean, did you play much of that Raymond anniversary collection? Remember that quietly launch earlier this year? It was like the first game? No . But rewind and stuff. Like I still love that first game. The first game's music in particular and stuff. And so I was happy to have that on my steam deck. It was alright. There were some bonus features in I did a Rayman GBA game but I, forget which probably two on GBA . It's probably some weirdo version of that, but see other stuff from the state of play that you all were n't bothered about . Let's let's call out Kimuri Hunt the Unseen. Yeah, really odd. Is that the full name? Is the game just called Kimori? The trailer Kimuri Hunt Mori Seen Hunt the Unseen. I think it's Hunt the Unseen, but yeah this, is yeah from the studio called Unseen and specifically Nakamura who blew up popularity I think like promoting Ghostwire Tokyo, which is also on evil within goes back to like art on Okami and stuff and part I forgot had , they announced this game before at the twenty twenty three game awards, they had the announcement of Kamari. This was they have a trailer for it? There was a trailer, but not the gameplay trailer. This was the first time we saw gameplay for Kamari so it shot a huge way. But what did you take from the from the gameplay for this thing? This was a real, it was a real roller coaster of a trailer because the character designs that they were showing, I thought, oh no, is this a hero shooter? Right. You know, because it was those kind of like colorful all they all have different like movement mechanics, whatever and I was scared . But then no, it looks like it is a cool co op, but you know, not competitive multip layer . Game where you hunt Yokai or some sort of kind of mythical monster in modern day settings . Your characters are doing lots of cool hand movements a la Ghostwire . But Ghostwire had a very kind of grim dark style or a very kind of like modern scary and this is like super poppy and colorful and the characters are like skipping up buildings . There's there's a lot of style and a lot of flair and you know, we're watching all the characters animations have good like squash and stretch to them. And so it just looks like a really colorful neat game . My immediate like it caught my attention. It was it was also the one that I wanted to bring up, you know, I was my two who was God of war in this. And it was because I was recalling infamous a lot. Like riding old and stuff and I love I love infamous and but I do, I'm a little concerned is it basically like a monster hunter light is it because you're hunting Yokai and it's like up to three player cohort. Maybe the way they explained it also what you're doing is like you want to like wear the Yokai, wear the unseen and stuff. So I do wonder if you are like taking inspiration for the Yoshi like Kirby Kirby like yeah, or I mean it's that idea I guess of like making armor out of the monsters. I'm sure that is part of the it could be that or you just know Kirby more Kirby you beat them and gain their powers'.s that would be That a big difference in what type of game is. I'm super curious. I'm curious how single player experience is too and if you feel like you're missing anything, not doing so. Because I am optimistic. You're reminding me of prototype obviously like running up buildings, feeling like you're sliding around this whole world and talking about Spiderman, it's like an open world game at this point is only as good as its movement mechanics to me. And it's pretty promising the wide variety here. Yeah. But I just don't I don't I don't particularly like the sort of the format of Monster Hunter personally. Like I would like just like yeah, it would be cool if they had all these crazy abilities. You hunt Yokai is fun because Yokai are always like kind of a fun based in real world legends and stuff like that. So it's always fun to see like different yokai and stuff. So I just don't want to just was like, I was like, I don't really want to be like beating up on a Yokai with two other players for like thirty minutes to get a new piece in here. I don't really want that. But I mean very, I'm very intrigued by this game for sure. Yeah, yeah. I mean, they definitely said you can play single player if you want to, you know, but co op is just an option there. But it looked like the kind of high production gotcha games like a Zenless Zone zero or something where it's like the characters movement it's like they're anim ations are really flashy, but there is kind of a difference between like flashy animation that also feels good and flashy animation where you just kind of hit a button and it happens. And that's a real just like won't know until we get hands on totally how good it feels. Jane, what was your reading until Dawn two ? I was like, what the hell's going on here? When they start showing the trailer, I'm like, okay, it's one of my sicko me and Haley, the choice games, right? So that was like clocked immediately. I was shocked that it was until dawn two because it's funny if you know, everyone says that like people have been chasing until dawn since until Dawn. So it's like they say, why don't we just make until down two, but it's fire sprite. It's not super massive. Which is really weird. So I was like what? So this is the studio, yeah. They were working on the Twist of Metal Reboot , the live action game, or sorry, a live service game that was cancelled about two years ago, according to some Jason Schrier reporting. And then their last game, Fire Sprite here, they were bought by Sony in twenty twenty one, and then they made Horizon Call of the Mountain. The VR game was their last release. And so to take until Don I played and beat. There we go and you think about it every day. Just like Santos . But yeah, to take until Dawn, which is, I guess, you know, Sony owns it, the whole movie and everything , and now to give Supermassive's game to Fire Sprite and I checked Supermassive not one mention about this. You think they'd have like a hey way to go Fire Sprite but it seems weird, right? It's a little bit of a fun weird thing about our industry that they can play it as a twist because we don't see supermassive we go this can't be until done too. So what is it? Right. But then turns out it is. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, with the with the character from Dark Pictures Anthology, the narrator who's kind of overarching all those games? Well, help me me out. Help out. Is he in there the curator? Well, I don't think he isn't until Dawn. Yeah, he isn't until Dawn. But I was trying to remember, what is his role in the Dark Pictures anthology stuff? Is he playing the same? He's like the crypt keeper, basically. You know the curator? Yeah, yeah. The guy with the tight pants and the vest? Hang on. Now we're talking about two different characters. I think these are two Curator is a different character. What? Curator is different. Yeah, Peter Storm Air From Lost World, Jurassic Park. That's right. It keeps coming up soil. So that got down or melted down. So Peter Storm Air isn't until dawn as Dr. Hill and they have the curator in the Dark Pictures game, but those are separate. So Tearstormer's character has only appeared until Dawn One, is that right ? Yes. Thank you. Okay. I think production value wise it does look good, which I know is kind of a shallow comment, but frankly in these games production goes a lot further than you might think. Like I think because it is inherently like a playable movie style, like it is nice to have like good production and you do notice it a lot more. Even stuff like, you know, it's funny. I think a lot of times people critique games of these genres being like gameplay light. They're like, oh, it's barely a game . I wish some of these games were barely a game. If you try to when these games are not done well and you move in them, it's awful. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I'm always ready to get hurt again in a game like this. Yeah , though I was not necessarily a big until Don one fan, which is a very unpopular take for this style. I thought it was too campy. I know some people say it's supposed to be campy. It's slightly racist because that's classic horror. And I'm like, how do I like ? I did not like my time with Until Dawn that much, even though it does have a lot going for it in some of those categories of production and choices having impact I'm going to play this and see what's going on, but yeah, it is very, very strange on a couple different levels. It seems like it's also going to be a little bit campy. So like apparently it's a crew of ghost hunters going on a vacation and then things go horribly wrong as well. Can we all talk about what's on our mind? The big push Luke moment? Yeah. Are you guys gonna be pushing Luke or what are we doing? I don't know yet. Don't make me choose yet. I got it no . No, 'cause I feel like y'all are like hamming it up but dead ass I was thinking like, oh, they kinda gave it away, but then I'm like, but was that? I didn't push Look or I did push . So the way that I was genuinely engaged, like, don't mess with me guys. I actually like these games so I'm kind of curious what's gonna happen, but McCorry with friends was so awesome. McCorry was one of I think that might be their best work to me, actually, the Cori. super massive again, this is Fire Sprite. I don't know why you conf canuse me. Push Luke is what exactly . There's one moment in the trailer where you're running towards a cliff and you say jump, jump, and the buttons say push Luke and don't push Luke. And then it cuts to a scene of one woman landing in the ocean and Luke hitting a big rock and splatter ing . And it's like it's so it was so goofy. I mean it reminds me of like and I guess the hook of this is you don't know what's the good choice or the bad choice. But remember in like again, a second infamous reference of the show, infamous one where it was like, do you want to save this school bus or push it into a vat of acid Do you want to jump into the ocean with Luke or do you want him to splat on a big rock? There's a ton more. You can check out our reaction stream if you want to see us react to any specific other things in the state of play, but over all, solid state of play, didn't blow me away. I liked having the big chunks to open and close. It felt big. Land about a seven, I think personally on the excitement meter for stuff shown there. But there's some fun little surprises in there . Just like Luna Abyss, talk about a fun little surprise. Jacob was recommending more people. Check this out. I jumped into it Jacob having no damn idea what Luna Abyss was going to be like. So what it started to jump into it. Yeah. And I was like, wait a minute, this is like metroid prime through kind of like a bungee lens. And then with shades of doom, I was like, what the hell is this? This is much higher production quality than I was expecting for this game that I hadn't heard of. My experience was funny because for some reason, I got it in my head. I was like, oh, this is a rogue game. I don't know why. I just assumed. And I was like, man, this run is going really long and it's not that challenging. And I was like, I checked the difficulty and I was like, I'm on like the standard difficulty. And then I was like, then I was like, oh, that's, I don't know why I thought that, but I thought the same thing . Okay , because it starts you in like a bedroom and you kind of assume like I'm gonna come back here when I die. Right, right. You know, like this is where I'll start the new run from. This is my ever . Yeah, to be clear, it's like it's like a single player. The same thing. I haven't beaten it. Jacob, have you finished it? Yeah. Okay. Because like it's like a single player just linear shooter. What are you talking about? This doesn't exist? Oh , excuse me , but the games that I'm recording shockingly are portal two and half life and just like the way you move room to room and there's like a there's like a there is some portaling mechanics. It's not a puzzle game, but just the structure of like the way you move room to room and even like loading sometimes kind of reminds me of half life. Like, I'm really enjoying this. I'm playing it on my steam deck and I'm glad you pushed me to play, Jacob. It's kind of surprised me. It's like stuck up on me as like a cool onally cool dark single player game that I like. Yeah, I think it's a really interesting game just in that it is like it's a cool mid budget level where it's clearly not, you know, AA, but also it like it looks nice. It's a three D first person shooter . They do a lot to establish a very cool environment. And let me say if if you' youre're a fan of megastructures , hit this game up. I've I've talked about the manga whose name is it's spelled blame exclamation point, but it's actually pronounced bl am , which you maybe haven't read, but has influenced media you like, which is just a story of a guy wandering around a big megastructure for like hundreds of years . This game has big blam energy in that it's just like all of the things are like, okay, you were on you're hopping from platform to platform and you look out and there is like a canyon of concrete that extends for like a hundred miles or you know, it's doing kind of like destiny. You know, there's a big weird moon hanging in the sky. It has a lot of stuff like that. It's got really cool creature design. One of the best parts of this game is like there are you meet different like characters and they all have like this weird thing where it's like my body is a giant spider and my a giant mechanical spider and then I have like a naked torso on top and I'm going to speak in like a very understated like Dutch accent or something and you're just like oh that's not the voice that I expected to come out of this , you know, like it I think it does a good job of like it has a lot of lore if you want to look for it, but also it is not it's not a game that requires you to do that. And I just kind of played it and was like, I'm enjoying these weird vibes. I really like that these characters are just unusual in ways that I didn't expect them to be. It sounds like it's not all the way to a horror game. It's just vib ing and creepy for first person shooter. Yeah, I wouldn't say it's a horror game at all. It is just a very , I think Metroid Prime is honestly a good comparison in that like it's it's just kind of a very atmospheric game and like Metroid Prime, the combat interesting because it's fully like lock on basically . Like even if you're playing on mouse and keyboard , you you basically just hit a button and your redicule will completely lock on to an enemy and then they are sending kind of returnal style bullet hell patterns at you, but you don't have to think about aiming at all . You just focus on dodging and then like chang ing weapons sometimes. It's such a weird wave of relief, but I had that feeling of like jumping to this game like, oh, first person shooter, wasn't expecting that. I'm not really good at those. I don't know about this. And then like, hey, there's metrade doors. You shoot the door to open it. I was like , okay. And then like lock on Metron Prime Show Luna Abyss. All right. Yeah, it was like, oh, I'm welcome here. I'm welcome in these first person shooter parts. I like this . And like, I feel like the thing to scream about Luna Abyss is if you're one of those people like a Kylie Hilliard who's like marathon, why isn't Bungie just make cool like single player shooter stories anymore? My butt smells. You better you better some of those things excuse me, not all of those things. You need to run to Luna Abyss. Like if you don't support this type of thing, this is exactly what everybody's belly aching about. Like here is a cool ass shooter with a lot of style and just a set first person shooter campaign. Like you gotta go check it out. You can't really get lost, you know, it's like you're pretty much like and they also are fans of Sacrifice YouTube channel because they have the very satisfying enemy dies game like pauses to let you know that you killed it. You know what I mean? Right. They finish . Yeah, it kind of reminds me of it's a weird line to draw, but lies of pe ace because it's got it's like a similar kind of mood. It's not as challenging and it's not a front game, but it's kind of like it makes me think of like, oh where this comes from? You should play that, man. It's like it's like, oh where did this come from? This is such a cool style and it's like a weird dark gothic thing that's like really well done. Like that's kind of the lives of PLIN I'm drawing, you know? But me literally scrolling and be like, Or there's more cults banned on PlayStation, which is which is fun. Yeah, it's every body. Yeah. It intimidated me because looking at the screen shot, kind of like you been like, it's like this looks like it's not really my speed. And I think also seeing the projectiles, I was like, didn't I just fail at returnal, like a few years ago? I don't know if I want to be there, but it sounds like it's easier. It plays it's very approachable. There's a lot of three D platforming, which I think is pretty good It's, you know, as good as First Person can be it has it has these really interesting you kind of learn to possess different like big organic kind of vehicles in the environment almost where like the first one is like you can just possess this blob on the wall and then you can jump out of it and like be higher than you were or something. But eventually you are getting in like you're almost doing like ratchet and clank rail surfing sections , but it's because you have possessed this creature that is kind of organically bound to a rail track and you're like sliding around and so it has very familiar video game mechanics but in an unusual setting , which is just like a fun place to be. Yeah. Yeah. I mean that's a little bit where the portal sort of relationship comes from me because like late portal two gameplay is like less about solving intricate puzzles and more like let me look around this really interesting environment and see where I need to go that.' Ands like what I was doing here is like, okay, I need to get up there. I can I can I can teleport to that thing, you know, like yeah and structure and structurally like I said it's it's like half life or portal where it's just like a series one long ass level ostensibly. Yeah . Yeah . So yeah, I'm very charmed by it. And I think it's like seven hours or so. How long have it has it eleven hours Well, I can tell you how long it took me, it took me seven. So yeah, we look at you, speedrunner, parrot. You gotta submit your time. Yeah, bring that curve down, man. Has anyone ever submitted their time? I feel like we all use that site and we would provide nothing for it. That's what I'm doing. every site It's kind of like people when they use Min Max no go on Patreon. It's like, What are you guys doing out there? It's me like looking at that donate to Wikipedia button every couple I really should. Please literally any amount I'.m And like oo,h, I'm really busy today. I love you. I use you almost every hour and you are the sort of template for what I want the online media to look like , but I can't, I just can't. I'm proud to say I did that when I was like twenty years old. Put like five dollars in. Nice. You've been milking those five dollars for decades. If you know how compound interest works, that five dollars now worth fifteen dollars. The only reason I know how it works is for Wikipedia . Luna it's not everything except for Switch. thirty bucks if you want to check it out. But super, super cool . And pretty good on Steam Deck. I think it's running at thirty but feels great. Yeah I'm not complaining at all. Yeah, same here. Just like Motors Slice a game, but you can also play on your steam deck. Janet, do you get a chance to check out Motorslice here? Yeah, I'm about now we in're. Okay, yeah, the pitch like starting out, I didn't realize that it was like, oh, it's Mir's Edge meets record. I was like, I think this is a little of Janet's alley. And like developers like I wanted to make a post apocalypt ic prince of Persia, three D prince of Persia. That was kind of the idea here . And Jacob, you found this thing and we're feeling passionate about it too . Yeah, I've beat this one as well. I had like seen seen bit s of it coming up and then yeah tried to, you know, tried it out. Actually, you know what I saw? This is what convinced me to play. I saw a clip of a boss where someone is fighting like a giant excavation machine . Yes . And then they parry the excavation machine and it like falls over. Yeah. And it was like a sign me the hell I was mad when I saw the parry in here, Jacob. I said, Jacob, can you recommend the game with a parry please. It's not required. It's just like can do. And obviously I'm giving you tough time for it, but I'm like, God, that's another parry. Like people love parries love I want you to interact with their elements . And they're like, don't worry, they flashing light and they're like, you messed it up 'cause you forgot what the attack was 'cause you just started the game. I'm like, okay , yeah, no. I feel like this has been pretty fun . Jacob, I think you were the one that brought this to our attention and I think you sold it pretty well where you're like it's a three D platformer that controls pretty well, which I would largely agree with. It's not a little floaty. Amazing inf,ill but it's like good enough. And I think it has just enough of juice to make it something that I think is that I am going to stick with. Like I really enjoyed, again, I mentioned the collectibles thing, going around and finding the little orbs is just really fun. Like the environmental design definitely leans pretty like wastelandy and there's not like a lot there , but what is there is quite fun. It's like I like when they do with the climbing elements where they kind of give you these ridges that you can put your hand s in and go up and down. They have like the wall running. They have a lot of like the classic platform construction. I think the big weakness of this game is that it just it works well, but it has this feeling of being slightly unpolish ed where you do feel a little disconnected for at least I do, I feel a little disconnected from like every movement I do. And it leans a little more heavy on the magnetism that's in any platformer. Like every platformer is kind of like helping you a little bit with the jumps you make. That's how you're able to do it. But different ones take different approaches to it. And this one, it's not nearly as magnetic as something like , you know, the Haze Like games where it's like those jumps, you jump like automatically pretty much and I get that people don't play that don't play games and play those fall a lot, but like that's simply because it's a video game, you know, like it's they're very simple. This isn't as free form, but it has a little bit of that, which can sometimes get in the way if you're trying to explore like a specific area and you kind of auto latch to the wall or you like kind of, you know, there's a little bit of slip there that makes it a little less exciting to play than it would be if it was a little tighter. But I really love the is there a name for the weapon chainsaw just the chain sword like the motor slice is some of the like the cool move you do with it to like slice it through because so the game the game starts and you're holding this chainsaw thing and then you like fight a little machine. Also the only thing you're fighting in this game are like little construction vehicles and then sometimes big construction vehicles which is fun. But it's like you're like, oh that's my sword. And then you walk upon an orange wall and they're like hold extemotor slice and you stick the chainsaw into the wall and like ride it up or even cooler like horizontally move it as you go just like and that is like the hook yeah yeah and I think that's like I really love you know this is such like such an old genre like the three D platformer it's so cool to see someone and again I',m sure if I dug I could, maybe find something similar somewhere , but to see something that, oh, it feels new. And it's what I love about it is it's a new take on a very like established thing, which is the idea of having you latch onto a mechanism and it brings you somewhere. Like that's like in a Kajillion, three platformers and even other genres, but the fact that it is like your like motor slice sword thing and you kind of have the control of it gives you a little bit more because it's so fun to like go on rails and video games and slide around, but there is a bit of you're watching something fun happen, but you're not really doing anything , but it still feels like you're part of it, which is cool. And here you're like more part of it than you've kind of ever been in doing rail stuff with the exception of sometimes games have like rail racing where you're kind of jumping from rail to rail avoiding things. Those can be engaging, but for the most part, it's just a cool thing you're looking at. So I love how involved like you can feel in that . And they do a lot of fun things with like integrating like core design stuff. Like they have the classic scan to try to find the collectibles, but for that you put on like a little VR headset like your character does. I think little touches like that go a long way to feeling like this is a world that the team like really thought about and like created a cohesive vision for that makes it feel like you made a place and not just like let me dump the idea of three D platformer into a bin and kind of like something emerges, which that can have its place too, like kind of the more fantastical elements, but being so grounded it really helps. This is the thing that I want to call it. This is the I best think thing about the game. My favorite thing about the game is it is very unexpectedly to me when I started it. It's like Eco the Last Guardian in that it is just one big world that you are going higher and higher in and as you go higher, you can look down and see the rest of it. And it's so cool. Like it's so well done and it makes it feel so big and your progress is so tangible because you're like I was down here and now I'm up here and I can see this whole course that I walked through to get to there. Like I think a deceptively difficult thing to do to make the entire world of the game kind of physically tangible in the same place . And so they do a great job with that. The thorn that I have to mention to go along with my rose. This game is horny in a way that I find really gross , unfortunately. It's because the your character like I think the character design of the main character is like a nice cute kind of normal thing. Specifically what I love is that she has moles that are like dead pixels on her skin. She's just got like squash ers on her skin, which is a really cool look . Yeah, so I think I think it's a nice appealing platformer character design in general, but you technically play as a character named Orby shout out to Hailey and her sister and there are like multiple scenes where you kind of like sit down and just have like a little conversation or she talks and you can respond in a way that she can't understand you. But like a lot of these are like, hey, let me lick your sweat or like one. She's like she's like dangling her feet in the camera and one of the options is like sniff sniff and it like really in and in the photo crazy in the photo mod e you can make her do like the kind of anime porny faces and it feels like it's just kind of like the developer leaning into like parts of their community probably being like, I want to be able to sexualize this character and it like it is completely kind of , you know , it has no bearing on the rest of the game, which is both a positive and that you can kind of ignore it, but also a negative in that it's just like why is it here? Why it adds nothing unless you want to kind of leer at this character. And it's a real bummer in a game that I otherwise think is like really neat. Why would Hali ? I'm glad you brought that up because that hasn't come up yet fully for me, but it's come up a little bit. You can just go angles so now I'm scared about like the way the camera angles hit with the like , you know, I don't know, I think our audience knows exactly what we're talking about where it's like oh ass shot like chest shot in a way that like you don't see when there's male characters like engage you know, typically. So it has or even just like the placement of I agree. I think her design holistically is like fine and cool, but even just the placement of like her she has those VR goggles that sit on her chest and the way they kind of move almost to like imply that their breasts is like a little hm . So then for it to like escalate to like and then you can smell her feet as a camera. It's like, I don't want to do that. I don't want to smell her feet as the camera. I don't want to smell her feet. I just want to, you know, and this is where I don't like press the sniffy button. Buttons that you press. I think it's like through four. Want to gone to the Steam Deck? You might select anything there, okay? You get that achievement. Sniff sniff achievement, or whatever. Yeah, that's like kind of messed up. So I think Mario Better Lakatou was just constantly smelling Mario's feet though, don't you think? No, literally. It is interesting that this kind of does have that lack of connection. So maybe that is cool too is that like there's it's both cool and kind of weakens the play experience in a way the way the camera operates because you do kind of feel like you always have to be like manipulating it at least I did when I was playing but I don',t know how that hit for you. And if I feel it kind of went away as I got to know the space more, but it's kind of like a you get used to and I do I do like that like Lakatu, the camera is like a physical it's it's like a named thing in the environment. I think it's a cool touch except for when it's horny. It's weird. Yeah. Motor slice, namely that game. It's out on steam. And Jacob, I don't know if this strengthens or hurts your thorn Thorn, but like seems to be selling well on steam. You know what? It's like is this great. I mean, it's it's a well made game. Yeah, I'm just trying to like that layer of horniness. It's like, isn't there? Maybe they're I'm sure they're better at marketing than I am. Yeah , yeah. Well, there you go. Motorslice, name that thing overall . Kyle, I'm not saying you're gonna go buy motor slice immediately right now and that's why you have to get going, but do you want to have it downloaded? I'm going to check it out. All right, sounds good. Let's know what her feed smell like. Frika . All right . Chris for being here, Kyle. I'm gonna clap out of here on that note. They write in and they say just beat resin resinable four remake for the first time and immediately uninstall the game. Not because I didn't love it, but it's an experience I was done with and I wanted to move on to another game. How long does a finished game stay in your storage ? I assume with jobs you have, it might not stay down for long because you need to clear up space, but what criteria does the game have to fit to live eternally on your hard drive? Good question. A game I know I'll replay, which is very few games. Like what? Like Jekandextra I leave on there , even though it's like one megabyte of time to download it . And I leave one game I know for a fact that I've left on my PS five is fall guys. I actually don't like fall guys. I never got the matchmaking and the Q stuff to work, but the reason I leave it on there is because I think it's kind of faded now, but there was a time where every single charity stream I would do. They were like we're playing fall guys and I'm like okay it's for charity. What means I don't like fall guys? I'll play fall guys for charity . I just So leave it on there so that like when the charity ping comes I can ready to play ball guys. Smart. Yeah I built a I built my first PC in like twenty thirteen and have just I've never like fully just bought new parts. It's always just like, you know, replace this or that. And I had a realization I think last year that Metal Gear Rising Revengeance was still installed on my first hard drive that I bought in twenty thirteen . And every time I had played the game since then, which had been many, it was playing on like a ten plus year old hard disk , which I was just like, you know what? That game got installed , you know, in the first couple months that I had a PC and I never took it off because why would I? It should always be on there. Yep, yep. It's weird like going into like PS five in particular and just like doing that sort. I' likem, what should I delete? All right, I teach the big single player thing once I'm done with it, yada, yada. Then I have like the eternals on there where it's like dreams is always going to be in my playstation just because I think it's fun to boot into every once in a while. Like amplitude is always going to be on there. That's a lo ck. And then now it's like Tetris effect and Luminazar eyes. Like there's I will never delete those. I'll always want to jump into those and just play a little bit and just feel alive, you know there's also the calculation of like what, do I want to show some as they come over, which is a big one? So I always have like the that radio head . I was just thinking about experience how fine because it's like that's so cool to just like some, especially at a non g amer who might like radiohead and just be like, you check this out. You know what my greatest sin is, Jacob? You don't like radio head? Arson, no, I like radio head. No, I haven't played that yet. It seems insane . It takes three minutes. I know. I don't know you can play one second of it and be like, yeah, I know what's going on here. That's such a bummer because I remember me and Kyle talked about it when I go out. I'll get to it you guys that and sign our wild s. Wait, I have a quick clarifying question though, Jacob on the whole like showing people games when they come over especially if they're not how does that work? Are they like you like games? What would that look like or are you like you gotta check this out? Like how I've never had that happen . I've never showed someone a game in that context I've played games with people where it's like, oh, you're over. Let's play something. Maybe we play like Lego party or something like that. But I haven't been like look what games can do and then I'm like demoing a game like what's the situation? That happens to me all the time. I mean, maybe it's your friends or more in the industry because like I am , you know, I don't have a lot of games industry folks that I'm friends with in Durham, North Carolina. And so my friends know me as like you're the video game guy . And so they will often be like, hey, like show me something cool . Yeah, it feels a little bit like let me show you a cool YouTube video if you're projecting at other people, you know, but if they're the ones that are like, yeah, I want to show me and look when you're two men hanging out in your thirties , every hangout eventually ends with let's show each other YouTube videos . Like that's that's just what happens. It's weird to think Jacob, you know, you're like, well, I'm in North Carolina, what am I to do? You could be hanging out with Mr. Beast and Kyle Bossman every night. Your North Carolina boys . Boss Bossman's within driving distance. It doesn't seem like he's much of like a hey, let's go grab some beers guy. Have you ever tried? No. You did the monster truck thing. Have you given him a casual like, hey, can I come hang out with you this week? Stop. He might be like that . Hey, I'm coming over. Goodbye. No, I haven't tried. Have you why you up? You know, quick little ten eleven PM just to see what you say. I thought about I truly for like four hours , not the only thing I was doing, but last week Doughboys , my favorite podcast was in Raleigh . And Nick Weiger of Doughboys had the thing where he said Kyle B ossman was like the hardest he'd ever laughed when Kyle did that skit about wanting to tell someone that he played like time attack with a celebrity crisis time crisis with a celebrity which then Kyle confessed was actually someone else's skit or whatever. But I was like, Wigger knows who you are, bossman. And I was thought about texting him like, Hey, I'm going to this Doughboys thing. Do you have any interest in it? But ultimately I didn't, 'cause I was like, he's busy with SGS stuff. I don't want to go . But he told me he told me things you're cute and everything. But don't tell me I told you 'cause he told me not to tell you. Okay, cool. Leo John, I have a folder on Steam called Evergreen All Timers. Oh yeah. Yeah pretty much Hitman, right? Hitman and for sure . Hitman and Sefu are the pretty much the only two big games I keep installed all the time. I like it. And everything else is like a small indie that I will be replaying forever, so I keep around all the time . Such as Wild Bastards, Streets of Rogue, Shogun Shdown, Mr. Sun's hat box, into the Breech , and fusers on here as well. Hell yeah. And Fuser I especially need to keep installed because with all the mods and stuff I don't want to disrupt what I've done. Splinter cell blacklist also needs to stay installed because it never got cloud saved. So if I ever delete it, I lose my save. That's devastating yeah. What's what's up with you and your precious streets are broke too? Wasn't that game supposed to come out like a year and a half ago? Yeah They put the demo out and then not too long ago they unreleased it and they're like, When it's back, it's going to be early access and that's taking a lot longer than we thought, but we gotta have it be good. You want it to be bad? That's what you want. Couldn't ho it. Sly cut right into the wild. Who knows that I can call Lost Wild. Sly cut writes in. Is everybody else want to dos this? Stupid voice? Okay, anyways, like Race and they say hello all. You've discovered a cheat menu for real life. Congratulations. You've narrowed it down to two cheats and you can only activate one of them . Which of these would you activate for your life? And Jenna, I like the posture change, the breathing change. You're ready to go. I'm so ready. I can't wait to hear these. I think this is a slam dunk and I'm curious if everybody else is at. All right, choose one of these cheek coats for real life . Give me one hundred thousand dollars . You only get it once. You just get one hundred thousand dollars deposited into a bank account of your choice, no questions asked. I was confused by the person, so I thought the cheat was give Ben Hansen one hundred thousand dollars please . Okay. You want to be a part of Min Max payup . Okay, so one hundred thousand dollars or no fall damage . Oh, one hundred thousand dollars . Oh, fall damage. Fall damage. Yeah. Leo. Really expensive over here. Yeah, you got one You're gonna make that. It's a long dive. Hey, wanna make a thousand dollars? Hey guys, I'm gonna jump out of a plane with no parish. Yes, yes . Who's paying right that wouldn't pay for that? Who's paying for that? Oh, I'd pay big money. You could make a hundred thousand dollars with one YouTube video and then you would repay a no fault answer. I think could make a hundred thousand dollars when you say a video of you jumping out of a plane with no parachute, you would make one hundred k. No someone would someone reacting to that video would make one hundred k and I would have nothing and that I could have been making money what about you know the government would kidnap us and do experiments on us. Oh well I guess a brown person that can't take full damage. I don't want that. No thank you. Okay, but think about this, like if no fall damage, you go into the real money making space, which you go to like a carnival and you become like a weirdo freak at the carnival where you just like sit and put your feet in the air and it's like, use this sledgehammer on my feet and I won't feel it, you know, and then people would pay for that . Wait, okay, feet so busy . I think you would lay them on your feet and then all your other bones would shatter if you jumped out of a plane. I don't think I don't think Carneys are raking in the amount of money you owe. You see what they do? The time I'm carneing, oh, sorry I can't be on the podcast 'cause I'm Carney trying to make this profitable and you're like, Hey, you love that Janet. I love that. You got your own own thing. We all do our thing, but it's really starting to cut into the pot. I think and I swear I'm doing okay, but you know, we all have that call of the void thing, right? Of like if you're standing on top of the grand canyon, you're looking at a window. It's like, why don't it just be fun to take a big ol' fricking leap. Like, that's worth a hundred thousand dollars and of itself, just to leap out of that crap. Absolutely, I'd take that. Leo, are you fall damaged man? don't think so . Don't bash ashes to die from falling. Literally old people, that's what gets them. When you're old, it would really pay off to be able to fall and not be hurt. I'm sorry, this is it's like I know that money is hard to come by, but this is if you're not earning very well, like a three year salary to have a super power in real life . What did you be doing? I'd arrive with the job. Not very much . It would. It doesn't like salary. But then once you get the taxes, you know, you're spending money. It's like even if you make one hundred k a year, you're not literally taking a home one hundred k a year. I can get one hundred k right now. Yeah, but you're not, I mean, you can get a deposit on your house , right? Like that's worth a maybe right now , you know , they got to kind of come with a little bit of coin too. But yeah, I could get like but that's really hard to get and I really want that now . If the option taking the hundred gay if the option was like decent house versus no fall damage, I might hear you out. But one hundred thousand dollars , no. Explain to your wife that you chose the fall damage one. Literally. Feeling cool. You have a super you're the world's only superhero. Yeah, she'd be like, let me know how , but you're right, the government kidnap is like an angle. It'd be a real ET is true. That's the worst. They have to be on the download. You and your politics would be under a microscope, you know? I thought this was gonna end up being a like hundred K or like x amount of dollars for every whatever. It's like yeah, I'm taking that one hundred K. Yeah . Is it the family group chat though to see what the vibes are in there? Can you imagine the entry though for wiki feet for you? You're gonna have the best wiki feet of all time. Check out the And Lord knows how much that's mattered to me. I mean that's how much money you make off that . Do you think for no fault damage and they delete your wiki feed page and they can't remake it? Hm, now we have an argument. Do you think it was wood? Dad, I'm just curious in general. Like wood perverts come out of the woodwork. It feels like I don't take fall damage, pay up to see my feet. Would that be or that's the combo? Yeah, the perverts are already read they're ready now advent. I've feared ready now. The perverts are not ready . I missed the first part but yeah, that's the answer. They're scrolling through my Instagram, the Instagram, anyone who could post me and they are online. So I was reading about in regards to our James Bond Deepest Dive , there's in nineteen seventy three's Live and Let Die , there is a stuntman who runs across live alligators and it's one of the craziest stunts you've ever seen because it's literally just a man running across the back of live alligators. And in nineteen seventy three, he was paid sixty thousand dollars to do that one stunt. That's awesome. So again , in twenty twenty six, you jump out of one plane, you are making more than one hundred k. Yes, Stunt Might have had no fall damage. That might have been how he did it. It's because of his invincible feet as we decided that's what it is. Don't fall . No one said it was invincible feet, Leo. That's a weird thing about Invisible feet. Now there's the nightmare of wicked feet . Oh , I shut her. I need her . Infinite, right? And then they say hi friends . Speaking of the deepest dive on zero seven firstlight available now at Min Max's YouTube channel and bonus podcast feed. Miss Joke opportunity while discussing zero seven firstlight Jeffin was talking about how he was happy that the game gave you so much agency and not one of you piped up and say, yeah, secret agency . Yeah. Well, it's 'cause it's obvious that you have that agency. It's not secrets. Oh, okay, yeah, yeah. It only works on one level. That makes sense, yeah. Tinny writes in don't worry, infinite. They do well regret their words and deeds. Tinny writes in and says recently I started listening to all the Min Max shows from oldest to newest, and it's kind of fun and strange to listen to some of you in the past predicting what's going to happen in the future of games or the world in general now that six years has passed. I'm glad that is the test of time. Since all y'all have a decent history of sharing your opinions online, do you ever look back at what you said said or is or is it something you strictly avoid ? Oh no, I don't want to look back. Episode we do every year where it's like, here's what you said last year. The way like I shudder and sweat having to hear my voice come over that old timing music . And I'm like, what is this idiot gonna say ? So I was like, I just literally know, I don't. I mean, I think I do enjoy that we do that. Like I think time capsules are very fun for that reason , but I don't want to go back and look around in there. I will say like it was student Nyl Bosman, the Patron saint of this podcast. Like he did a stream recently where it was him watching the twenty sixteen Xbox E three showcase . And then at the end , it was like a now for our post show where it's Jeff Keeley and a lot of Pierce and Kyle Bossman sitting around sharing the reviews of the press conference and it was so fun to see him reacting to himself like please say a low score. That was a really bad show. And then him in the past is like, that was a great B plus. And he's like, No, no, no, it's like, it was strangely compelling to watch somebody be horrified by their past opinions and stuff. Have fun. Yeah, I've never really if someone will like timestamp something and send it to me, like, oh, you called something crazy, you called it out I'm trying to remember, there's one recent example whereas like some prediction was spot on oh, you know what it was? It wasn't me. It was it's weird that came up. Kyle Bossman for when he was pitching the rumor maister, his pitch was like, I heard a rum or that Nintendo was going to bring back Starfox, where he's gonna be really ugly. That's crazy that he called that. Oh, that's so fun. But yeah, no, I think like, I remember some of the worst calls I've ever had . And one of them was I was bullish on Stadia. I was really like, I think Stadium's gonna work. If it was me with online man. I was with you, Ben. I felt like I didn't think it was guaranteed to work, but I felt like there's something here. Yeah. And there was something there just never continued. Yeah, it killed me because I was like if they can just advertise this on any YouTube video they want, they can't fail. But then every ad was just like, you know, did. Yeah, and then it was just like Reggie Watts like with purple clouds of smoke. And I'm like, this is not getting the point across of why this could be beneficial to people that don't want to buy a console. I remember being a little more positive on that too, because I remember going like this will be the way my dad plays Red Dead Redemption too. There's a lot of use cases like that, but then he didn't and it wasn't. Yeah, yeah. If you can't get Leo's dad , the whole ship is lost . All right, so I remember on the Allen Wake two deepest dive, one of my best age takes is how adamant I was that they would not resolve that cliffhanger and you're supposed to be left wandering there. And then the DLC that came out they resolve it first thing. It picks up right there and answers that should have been I think you're right in that it should have done the thing you said. Sure . Right. Shane C just has a little thinker for us if everybody wants a little bit of a stinker and a thinker. They say I know that Jeff Keeley gets a lot of criticism and much of it's deserved, but I don't think we talk enough about what a wildly unique position he occupies in the industry. He produces and hosts both the biggest showcase of the year and the most high profile industry awards show of the year. That's crazy. There's no other industry where one person wields that kind of power and visibility all rolled into one . Yeah, and like also the Gamescom presentation. Like it is it is just worth recent looking at that like that is a wild position. Like that is a career he has had that's so hard. That's part of the criticism . He's a monopoly on the game industry. Yeah, it's like why does this guy get to define the biggest of gaming? It's like, I don't think those are it's not like well, I don't like him, but I love that he hosts these two giant shows that everyone watches every year. Well, you can admit it's wild. It's wild . You're right. It is wild . I think it's not a good position for us to be in. It's I think he has his criticisms. I totally get it. But like overall, like boy , it could be a lot worse than Jeff Keeley. You know, like, I feel like, I don't know, at least the guy respects developers, you know, like at least he's trying to push for cool stuff. And obviously, there's always asterisks and critiques, of course. You know, but it is like if he has that team built up that's like so good at producing live shows with the game awards and stuff and they're like time tested and then E three collapses you know like I think it makes sense and be like I guess we expanded this area. I guess we just slowly dominate the globe, you know? It's just weird. Yeah, I also don't think it's the game awards are functional, the game awards in SGF are not that different from each other. You know, like, if you're looking at the pie chart of the game awards, most of it is watching trailers for upcoming games. Sure, yeah, yeah. Same skillset, yeah. But it is wild . You know what's also weird? number man. What? I'll just say not that much controversy. You think it'd be like TMZ has a picture of Jeff Keeley drunk at a bar with some fluusy. Like there's never any person likeal drama would he whatsoever. You know what I mean? Like it's just, I don't know, it's just he has given his life over to this career. But yeah, I guess what was the question of this? Was it like there was no question? Isn it't crazy? Okay , because yeah, like I'm kind of with on the more Jacobs things, like I feel like I've we've talked about that it is like it's impressive what he is built, but like that doesn't mean that it's, you know, that's part of why you get the critique, you know, heavy lies the crown like that's kind of totally what this role entails. And I think we would be we would be critical of any. I think the reason that like it's more it ends up being inherently more personal is because he's kind of created a world in which it would be personal, which is like, you know, pro and con, right? It's like oh, there's like a Facebook and then it's like, okay, then we also have like someone to name when we're talking about like how are these things going? And what do we think about them? Well, E three was more of an entity. So like there so would be convers ations on like how's E three doing, but it was so much more it also just was way differently structured. Like everyone kind of had their own lane and this is more of like it is just the Jeff Keeley show featuring the big three. So it's just kind of a totally different thing that I think is constructed in a way where the conversation is gonna be about what Jeff has done. I like that he's finally bringing in some additional hosts because you can't host this thing forever. And if you really if you really care about what you say you care about, which, you know, always ask for us there because would you tell me if it was the opposite? No , you know, you should be trying to build this to be like a more ongoing infrastructure that can exist without you. Yep, for sure. Jack Siege writes in the say, what are y'all like for a question of the week? The fall damage thing. Isn't that good? I've been messaging my family about it since we asked Really? There was like an immediate thing. I asked him yeah, guys, would you take the Hutter Care no fall damage? And my brother was like, I'm taking a hundred gay. And then I was like, he's like, why would anyone like not? And he's like, I'm like, they said you can make money off the stunts. And Isaiah says, I'm gonna take the no fall damage. I'm gonna make one hundred k easy, then they go back and forth on that. And then Isaiah also brings up red bull immediately. I just feel like you say that, but who's actually going to be hustling that because you can't monetize on TikTok until you get this thing. So the first video we dropped there is not gonna make anything. I don't know. I feel like we now have a second job . I would like I don't know if you're gonna make that much money off of it . You know what viral for less so maybe you know what ? Is I think honestly not just Red Bull watch this guy jump out of a plane, I think I would be a pro skateboarder and try to stunt Yes survived those and you use that YouTube pl atform then also to launch your political ambitions . Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah, push everyone out of planes and only the strong survivors. It's like, I'm gonna get a hundred k. And then after that, it's profit and I get no fall damage. So yes . Yeah. You could take the no fall damage and I'll take one hundred K and together we'll build a little empire . Everyone can play couples are built on . I kind of don't want the attention of having no f damaageult, but if I could just pretend like, oh, it's a miracle, I didn't get hurt in that crazy skateboard fall. I'm more of that. Yeah, yeah. But I think you'd have to advertise that it's no fault right to like kind of bring in the big bucks that you guys are what is it was like he's doing he's doing a skate jump on top of an airplane . Yeah . Yeah. His first time riding a skateboard . What if you die from a heart attack from the bottom? They didn't say no heart attacks about fall damage. So that's the question of the week, I think. Yeah. Well, there's still more. Majora writes in. They say fifteen years ago, I went into regular software development over game development for the simple reason that Germany and Europe as a whole didn't particularly feel like top players in the industry. Of course I'm not saying that there weren't great games being made here, but in my mind all the games that truly blew me away at the time were in Japan and North America. Fast forward to twenty twenty six and I noticed the other day that three of the last five game awards winners were made in Europe and even more importantly, some of Minax's favorites also include the likes of IO, Housemark, Remedy. Is it a coincidence or did European studios really stepp uped their game this past decade . There is something to that, I think. Like I think it was what twenty seventeen or so. It felt like oh, there's kind of a renaissance of Japanese games being as good as you would hope they'd be, you know, for a while , I think the Japanese industry is a little bit down on itself, like, oh man, we make binary domain and try and make a game that kind of feels like gears of war. And then around that twenty seventeen era, it felt like, okay, persona, breath of the wild, like everything's just firing near . And I do feel like there is a similar trend now happening with European games if you may be so broad of just crazy quality. Is it is it that um I mean, it's like obviously Japan and the US felt like they had kind of the head start of like here are the boom industries but now that everything is more or less equal ized or I feel like people have access to the same engines, same resources, whatever. Is it arts funding? Is it that European countries generally pay artists to make things , which is really helpful for good games. Well, I think it's maybe a little bit in that ballpark of like, you know, U. S. studios are getting gutted so much with layoffs right now because it's easier to fire people in America as well. And we are in our flop era. Right, right. And so with this American students either getting killed or just kind of safwise reset with every game release, like that does certainly hurt. Yeah, it's fun to find the gof. Nemesis writes in and they say what was Leo's million dollar idea . Now Leo, this was a Nuto plus option. People could vote for Leo to reveal his million dollar idea that we do not know, but he insists was genuinely a million dollar idea that they're going to start developing no fault damage. Yes . That was the same. Literally the same . And people voted not for Leo to reveal his million dollar idea. So I know which way I lean with the answer to this question, but Leo, the floor is yours. And I haven't revealed this yet? No, but don't you agree that maybe you should not . I was wondering whether I should. I don't like the precedent this sets. Right. Yeah, if we can't give away new show plus options that lose for free. That is a really good idea, though. I do want to say it. Hey, your comments. That's my conflict. So check it out. It's you know how at the at the lake house you've got like, you know, my other beer is wine and stuff and got to have got to have my boat driving live loud boat. You know, that type of Airbnb decor stuff. Yes, new catchphrase for any of this type of merch . Yeah , my screen time's up . My sunscreen time Wait , it's up like you're out of it or like it's it's increased by weekly stroke , right, right. And this is like going on a pedal . And this is going to be a new show . Now people design it and start to sell it again . People were livid at the Leo Win episode that was just old stock footage. I think people would have rided in the streets if this was one we took Dad Le Ow . We would have designed it, we would have put it to market. You know, episode two, how's it doing? How do we put it on a red bubble for it. The fun thing else is a champion. Like I voted for that. We did like we did get really close to it before Leo because we had we pitched a show up making signs like lake signs that was called I saw the sign and it didn't win. But now this is just it was a secret backdo pilot again for the sign show . Of course that was top of my mind. Now did you did you say this confidently ? And your wife started convulsing with laughter? And that's when you're like, I'm onto something . She didn't need to. Okay. That's a sort of an unspoken understanding of your ass It was thirty minutes after we left on the cruise and I came up with it. I said, We have to turn around . Right? No idea ever. So I tried to kick down the door and turn the big ship wheel. Yes. Donnig clear dishwasher stuff . It's yeah, it's certainly good. I don't is it like, do you all not living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Do you all have a lot of those things or I assume it's just like beach signs, right? Yeah. Is that okay? I feel like loves my own sign. Yeah . I will say wait, Leo, I fear this is giving your jump to conclusions, Matt. Yes , yeah, sure . But I think there's something there. There's no doubt about it, but like my sister just keeps buying these stupid signs. So never like I go to hang out at the lake with the family and stuff , I just want to tear these things off the wall where it's like oh I don't know Live Left Love Lake because the deep bulb on the crap left lake or whatever it's all that crap of just like, yeah, you guys got the towel for me in that new show plus where we went to was it Gurtens, where it was just like keeping calm and head to the lake was like this is just the laziest crap ever. I think Yeah, well we, thought you liked it because it was your house was full of no I love it. I love it. It the sad thing is I'm saying it fits in and I don't know if I like that tone because it's just such a zero yeah that's correcting one you would like if there's a to be a downside to having a lakehouse, right? I think this is kind of like you get to have a lakehouse but it's full of crap. Like, I don't know. Yep, that's it. Yep. I'll take that shrain off. So Nemesis also asked, could we get a retrospective of the best shows that the Leo Win Show has killed. So if you're not familiar again , we pitched for show plus a podcast with Leo Vader and Kelsey Luin called The Leo Win Show . It has now become the longest running new show plus series. I think it's at six episodes. I think correct me if I'm wrong. I think five episodes before that. House on a rise got to five, not consecutive. House on a rise we brought back a couple times, so the numbers are a little bit off. There's technically been more House onise Ar episodes, but it was five in a row, I think for House and Arise and then five in a row for Sarah the Horse Girl, I believe. Leo you had a week off though, didn't we? I was gone for a week. That's true where we got Janet ninety five, but it was like we're holding the streak intact until the show can come back the following week ly style when you pay the money kind of thing. You know, the story continues. And if you include the week that was a disastrous call on my end to just basically put up a technical difficulty sign for an hour. Like, I guess if we're including we told them what they would get. There was no mystery. It's true. That's true. So yeah, the list of new show plus choices that have not been a trend of moment. I don't know what I was expecting in this pack People regular reference. Okay, so this is all the stuff that has lost to Leo Win for New Show Plus . The ed Srpeunning Show, Double se venzero First Place , I'll just leave it correctly what these shows were called. So it was called what their description was, but Double zero seven First Place, Our Missing Top Tens, Summer Game Fest Made Perfect, Leo's Million Dollar Ide, Ardream Movies, the Storyboards, two Doms and a Subnautica two, billboard, top one hundred comments, answer avalanche, min mixtape, dumb kids, messing with a good thing, Mind's Eye Lawsuit DLC full playthrough continues. Mother's Day Q and A, Malcolm in the Middle Max Spoilers , meet the flockers , twins and for Daddy, you say Tomadachi, we say Tomadachi, RCAR Pro M, and perhaps the most devastating loss was the Sega Dreamcast welcome tour . All have fallen to the wayside with Leo Wynne, which is still going strong. Jacob Keller was on this week. How you feeling about the show? How's it going every man? It's easy and fun . I think we are always learning when we when we plan new show pluses, we do always have an element of like, well this one's obviously going to win. So how do we have something that actually takes it down or has gives it a chance, you know, and it's more more and clear that things that go in the audio feed, people who just listen to the audio feed just vote for that because why wouldn't they? Right, right. But it's the classic music plus thing of some people are like, enough with this democracy. How can this keep rolling? But I think it's fun. It forces us to up our game. Like you want to change it up, come up with better ideas. Like, there can be a pitch that'll bring down the Leo Winshow, and I am going to the mat next week. Not that I don't love the show dearly, but like I, think it's time to whip out every big gun we've got just to see how strong this thing is, you know? Yeah . I think it's a shame that we kind of sometimes want that to be the place we have gameplay content and it never ever is. Right, right or. But if we can figure out solutions to that? Although Kung Foot , don't dismiss. I think if I take you going to the bat Yeah, why? What do you mean? All the stuffs Yeah, I always think of New Show Plus it's just because the Incredibles has infected my brain every single day and every single thought is channeled through the Incredibles. But I always think of New Show Plus as the best scene in the Incredibles when he's hacking into the computer and seeing the evolution of the Omni Droid, . And it's showing like Omni Droid upgrade, took down this superhero, this superhero then took down Omni Droid, like just that dynamic. Is there some way Leoin win elimated Leo Eliminated . Yes, that's exactly the way that I see it. Yeah . But I do think I do think when Leo Win goes down and it will go down Leo . Somebody at the discord had a good idea of like the next week for Nitro Plus, we should put every show that lost to it back in the pool just to like give all these a second chance immediately. So to have like a twenty choice? Yeah, yeah. 'Cause you look at twenty five. So it's like, Hey, you're not voting for the governor all over again. I'm like, there's a lot of people running for this. It's a rank choice situation , but remember to cast your vote for twin sin for Daddy, everybody , if you want miracles , what a loss because that didn't get the air . Nate Boris writes in and says when was the last time a cameo and a piece of media had a meaningful impact? It didn't feel like fan service . Great, go ahead, Leo. Hitler in Argyle , Hitler in Argent, the greatest camera. Leo, no one's talking about people are talking about sons of Sparta more than they're talking about Argyle . Wait a minute. No, I'm thinking of a no Kingsman. You're thinking of a king of king man. Yeah. Okay, I'd learned that. I was like, I never saw you didn't hear about that. They're really a shared universe and there's in both The second chance for me to talk about my favorite comedy in the year's hacks, which just finished , but hacks is about a , you know, an aging Vegas comic and her young zillennial writer and their, you know, conflicts and whatever . But there's a scene where Deborah just meets Carol Burnett , who is basically like the real life version of her character is meant to be . And they just like it 's literally they're in a cardiologist's waiting room and it's like, oh, Carol Burnett's here and they just have like a two minute conversation and it's really lovely. Is it genuinely good and compelling? Because I feel like that version of like, oh, that's amazing. The idea of it, but then I've actually watched the scene, like there's not much actually here . I mean, I think it's exactly the size that it should be where it like it correlates to meaningful character growth for Deborah. Like it gives her something that she needed in the show , but it is not like this is the episode where Carol Burnett's here. You know, they like they underplay it in a way that I, you know, I think the danger of cameos is you make it too big and then it's like so everything was just to deliver us to the fact that Hitler showed up . And so yeah, I really liked Carol Burnett being in Hax. I'm hoping referencing something else that Hitler surprise shows up in . I was thinking about spinal tap two . They just I think of the bad side of this, but it's like they got Paul McCartney to be in spinal tap two . But it But it like it's not that funny and clearly they just feel like well we can't edit down the Baul McCartney two scenes. So the movie just like grinds to a halt for a while they all just like doctor Paul McCartney for ten, fifteen minutes or something. It's like, yeah, they're kind of stuck with it, you know The good version of that is in pop star never stop, never stopping, where they do have genuinely big people for like one line where it's like Carrie Underwood shows up and it's like, oh yeah, I totally had a crush on the Andy Sandberg character in pop star or whatever and it's like they're in here for like less than ten seconds. Yep, get in get, out, absolutely. Alton O'Connell, everybody else gave us a thumbs up, which I thought was interesting. They said last week, Ben mentioned that his three year old has been mostly screen free. How has Ben managed that while playing video games for his job . Now let me spin this on you. Jacob and Lee was surprised that you were like, yeah, thumbs up. I want to hear more about that. Hey, I gave a thumbs up basically, but I don't like I don't like thumbcines stuff that's to somebody else because I feel like it's not my place. So could put I my eye on eyeball trying to decipher the eyeball meant because it's like thumbs up it's like let me like thumbs up a personal question to bet. You know what I mean? Like it's kind of awkward. You're forcing it. Yeah, yeah, that's fair. Haven't you listened to the Leah Win S thish weeowk, Ben? I talked about like raising children for a long time. I saw the thumbnail, but I haven't dove in yet. I'm looking forward to it. Yeah, it's been it's been fine. It's been good. The thing is like, you know, if I didn't have daycare, you know, it might be a little bit trickier, you know, but the fact that it's like it is weird where it's like we see him for like an hour or so in the morning and then he gets back from daycare and go pick him up you know four hundred forty five or so and then he's in bed by seven. And so it's like, it's a pretty brief window where he's like, You're the weekends. It's just like all right, don't play games during the day. Or he still takes like long naps in the middle of every day as well for when he's here. So it's like, oh, I can play a game for three hours or something, like a lay down for a nap. So it's not that tricky, but I was thinking more like , I do think it's going to be fun eventually. If I'm like, oh, I've gotta play Lego Batman or something just want to hang out and watch it. Like he would, he would lose his mind right now if he knew that there was a Lego Batman game in the house . So yeah, it hasn't been that challenging overall. And it's kind of like every time we dabble with it and you can tell how powerful a force it is a reminder it's like, yeah, it's just better to keep this out of there. It's like if I have candy in the house or just for him, like if you have candy in the house, he'll freak out and be like, Hey, can I candy can have candy? But just being that person like there's no candy in the house. There's nothing to freak out about. You know, like I was talking to Ben Reeves this last weekend about Spider Man and all that stuff with the kiddo . And he's like, oh, he must be really into Spider Man. And I was like, yeah, he is, but it's only from the books and like his underpants that have Spider Man on him. And I was like, I can't imagine being that into Spider Man in the year twenty twenty six. And he's like, he's never seen Spider Man move. Like, he's never seen him swing , which is like the whole thing in my mind. Notice how he's not in a wolver ine, like I'm sorry. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Wolverine cares like that. Yeah, barely cares. The Spinaite just pops immediately, you know? Does he ever is he old enough to have like conversations where like another kid at daycare will tell him about watching something . Yeah, but he'll just be like Gordia Daycare sings this song from the show that he likes or like the best leos. What's that crappy kid's YouTube video or whatever? Not blip y. Blippy. Yeah, there's like kids sorry, kid talk everybody, but he just blew our mind. We're all just like hanging out of the living the other day and he starts just going singing this song about garbage trucks out of nowhere and it went on for so long and had so many words in it and so many verses. It just felt like he suddenly stood up and was like reciting the Gettysburg address. Her boyfriend and I' lookm looking and she like, this is still going. How does he have this all memorized? What is this? And then it's like, oh, it turns out some kid was watching Blippi and now it just came back to us through this weird channel, which is almost more fun, but he's not in an age yet where the kids are like , dude, you gotta watch this. He'll just instead of parents. Yeah. Dude , I was in Spain last night. Yeah, would you imagine? Have you seen severance yet? How are you not? What are you talking about? My fear is kind of not the like, you know, two year old era, but like when you get up into the like I am being socially excluded because I am not playing the predatory roblox game that all my friends are playing where it's like how do you make that call of either they turn their brain into mush playing this like horrible game designed to be a slot machine or they feel totally alienated from all their friends who are playing the slot machine game. Yeah, they just aren't aware of , I don't know, things that aren't options. Like you know, he still stays in his bed all the time, even if he's like, oh, don't go, read more stories. Don't leave me. Don't leave me . As we put him to bed every night, like he never thinks of like, wait, I can just get out of this bed and run after them. You know, it's the same idea , it's not even an option that idea of like, oh, I could be playing Lego Batman right now. I want that right now, you know? It's weird. I'm gonna whisper that too I see him. No, seriously don't destroy everything. You're capable of getting out of bed of your own. You do it all the night. Good night, you can still go get up. Shut up, you idiot Oh, but we did , I was like hooking up the N sixty four this last weekend at the lake. And he's like, he's like, do you have a Spider Man game? He was like the first person who ever asked for that. And I was like, yeah, I bet I do. And so we played a little bit of the Spider Man game at N sixty four, which great one . Yeah, totally. I was still, I don't think he has that idea of Vice Spider Man is thrilling to see in motion because in Spiderman at Nine sixty four it's just kind of like super foggy city, barely a swing . But I have fond memories of that game. I do too. I do too. It's the best. Anyways, Ashley Dean writes in, they say, My eight year old son asks, why don't you ever talk about Minecraft? That's fair, Ashley. They say, seriously though, if Minecraft came out as a brand new game in its current state in twenty twenty six , how do you think it would land? Would we talk about it on the show? Would it make it into the two hundred ten s great question? Yes and yes . Are we sure it's that much better than what's come after it? Well, do we not have the trickle down imitators of Minecraft? That's the question. Like if it just didn't exist before, the entire industry would be so different. But there's stuff that like High Tale, that's very Minecraft inspired that they came out earlier this year is supposed to be great. None of us got to. Like I understand Minecraft didn't exist. We'd be playing High Tail like holy shit. Right, right . I think there's something that there are cubes. That's compelling. I know that sounds kind of like that's what really? What? Yeah . I don't wanna look at a bunch of cubes. That's why you read it. And this is what we'd be talking about, Leo. These are the conversations we'd be having. I'd be like, I love the cubes, and then you're like, I'm not into the cube, and then it's like, but I never got to war . Yeah, like I do think we'd have some conversations on it. I mean we've talked about lesser games for longer, no shade. Like I think it would come up in little bit. Maybe like the two tense and I think the two tense would also come up because when you especially when it gets that freak pit it's at least gonna be freakily mentioned if not higher up. I don't know. There's something about the simplicity of it I think is interesting. I agree I still I mean we',re thinking about it as Minecraft. If it just dropped on steam , dwarf fortress style or whatever for the remake, like and just was sitting at overwhelmingly positive reviews , I don't know. I don't know if we'd get to it. Like I love Minecraft. I just think that there's so many other games out there. There's so many great games on steam that we just would miss. I think it could completely go by our radar. If it's it's the it's the butterfly effect question . we got If every game inspired by Minecraft, but not Minecraft, then yes, we wouldn't care. But if there was nothing and then Minecraft came out in twenty twenty six , I think we'd be freaking out about it. Yeah. Yeah. I think you're probably right. That's the easy answer, yeah. Don't Bash Ash writes in hello. They say as a gamer, is it better to date a fellow gamer or a non gamer ? Because one you have shared interests that are awesome, but the other, you don't have to fight over the console handled TV. And I hope those fights get vicious out there. It's my turn for the TV. That's cracked. Multiple Yeah. Even now that we have we have to get rid of the second TV, which is so sad because of the spacing. But his desk is kind of in the living room so he can just play off of his desk. So we've kind of figured a way around it. I think it's good to date a gamer, but it's bad to date a gamer who needs to date a gamer. That's my feeling on it. Where I think it's weird when people are like a little too like I never felt like I needed to date a gamer because also I know people like oh this sharing the conversations I get a lot of that at work and obviously I still talk about games outside of work like with Isaiah with my brother, with my friends, but like I don't feel the need to have it, but I do really enjoy having it. Like I think it's a nice perk where it's like especi, ally because games can be so time consuming. Like it would kind of suck if like , I mean, I don't know, but in an era where I wasn't with the gamer and they want to hang out with me and I want to play my game, I think I simply would just hang out with them and figure out when I'm doing the game later in a way, you know what I mean? I think I'd make it work. But it is convenient to just get to be like, hey side by side, we're both playing pragmata and we can like talk about it and hang out or do co op . I mean, I think, you know, it's if you're in a relationship even if, they do not also have your hobby, hopefully they respect it enough, you know, you could go to your partner's soccer games, even if you don't play soccer, they would hopefully be into, you know, sometimes laying out and play video games . I like merely because this is the thing that I have and I'm in a, I think, happy, successful relationship , date someone who has different gaming interests than you. You know, it's like, Andy also plays video games, but we are not playing the same games . And so then it's like, you know, we can talk about it, but also it's fun to be like, I'm seeing a new thing through your eyes, you know? I want to know what she's doing in Animal Crossing and, she wants to know what I'm doing in James Fond . Yeah, I remember remember in my bachelor days going like imagining my dream girl and thinking like that'd be cool if we were gaming together all the time . And my wife does play some games and we do find the cross section of games we do have fun playing together for sure. Yeah, which is which is great. And that's the that's the perfect sweet spot, I think. Because it's also kind of helpful just for, you know, teaching me to be a good teacher , like be a really patient and she has gotten so much better games just throughout our relationship and that's been fun to be like a long term project through a bunch of different experiences. But in general, it was like I was a bachelor so I was doing nothing but playing games way more and so I thought like that's how a long term partner would fit really smoothly into my life. And the reality is you just get new interests. You get interested in a w vidareriety of different things when you have somebody else there. Right. I can't wait to have a big new person in my life that fits exactly into my current lifestyle that's like an insane perspective, yeah . You know, I think in a way, I think everybody's dating a gamer, right? Everyone plays games 'cause I was like, oh, my wife is really a gamer. It was like, she plays with jewel, like every day on her phones, you know? So it's like, hey, we're all gamers heart of hearts, you know? And you do table top. That's true. That is true. I mean, I'm not twenty percent of that's huge. It's so fun. And it yeah, I mean, I always hate the, I'm glad this is different than the question of the My girlfriend hates games. How do I make her like it? Like I hate answering I've answered like a million times on a million podcasts. But I do think there is something fun about getting to expand and deepen your interest because I was not a boried gamer before like dating Isaiah. Like I wasn't necessarily against it, but I just, it was not something I grew up doing outside of like a couple like household games like Rummy Cube, UNO , like three other games, and that was it . And that's really fun because it's like, it's the fun of games, but without the screen element, which is nice 'cause a lot of things are screened, so it's cool to have something else. When you say are you talking about sunscreen or regular screens ? You know do I have a million dollar idea for you? I'm listening . Okay, now to quote Jack's siege , what do y'all like for a question of the week? Probably Jack's ? No fall damage, baby. Probably the fall damage fall damage. They're all defeated. It's just full. I think the fall damage one is so interesting because I love a question where I feel like there is obviously only one answer to this and then finding out that other people have other answers. Yes. Congratulations slide cut. We'll message you on Patreon. You just won a wonderful game thanks to IM eight bit. Of course, they're going to ship out CSTRs on PS four. Now it's time for something that we call get of this . What if one time we just used like a Led Zeppelin song in that spot ? Would no one would care, right ? We wouldn't be able to monetize the video, but I don't care. That'd be fine. Yeah, that'd be cool. Hey, get a little of this everybody. I'm sorry. Jacob, I have been scrambling. I was like months behind on every blank check feed. I think I showed you my cue at some point. Yes. But now that I'm like biking again, I've just been listening to nothing but blank check and the Leo Wincho . MP . But so sorry for all these things just being like here's something interesting that David Sims said, but there's a Wikipedia article that's called Tolkien's Round World Dilemma , which is just a fascinating history of Middle Earth andk Tenoli being like, it's a flat earth. Actually, no it's around earth because it's also no action it's going to flat earth . The conundrums in a very specific way of what shape is the world for Tolkien and Middle earth is a very fun Dirky rabbit hole. I will never go that deep into Lord of the Rings, but I love hearing about like how far down the rabbit hole Lord of the Rings Gigtom gets. When you get into like maps of the world and I guess geographical debates, that's very fun. On that note, actually, I highly recommend Ranged Touch . Their show shelved by genre is doing an entire year where they're just covering the hobbit, the Lord of the Rings and the Sim oreillian, that's Cameron Cuslman Michael Letz and Austin Walker . And they completely get diverted by Tolkien's extensive hatred of the air plane, where he just wrote like letters and letters about like how much he hates the idea of the airplane and it's awesome. What's his angle? Because he's like, it's a machine for war. He's like, it's like It's like we invented and there's this great thing where he's he's like recounting a conversation with a guy and he's like , you know, and I'm having this conversation and the guy says yes, but if there was a doctor in America and you had a disease that could only be cured by him, wouldn't you be glad the airplane exists? And he says, Isn't that always the way the conversation goes? Not shouldn't we have a few more doctors, but aren't you glad that you can use this machine for war for something else. And that's why the Eagles didn't want to carry the ring into Mount Doom is because they were mad at him . Also his Tolkien's son was a fighter pipeline. Oh right. He's right thing about that. It's awesome. Wow . At that aged pretty poorly, he could not have predicted the steam dike . All right, get a load of this I assume you guys saw this interview where Mike Fisher Ethered Yuji Naka on Sega sixteen . Excuse me, no . Oh, you did Ben. No. This is the most Benhansen thing of all time . So Mike Fisher who was VP of Sega and something project manager . There's a lot of context in this interview , but just multiple times seems to go out of his way to talk about how Yuji Naka is just a giant asshole who he hated , including quote, I was there for the birth of Sonic the Hedgehog and when the memo came out, they said to every employee, we want to come up with the new Mario Killer mascot character. We want everyone to come up with an idea. I watched them pick the winners. I watched Yuji Naka steal credit for it , and yeah, I was very hands on . He also said, It was wonderful to go back and reconnect with those people. It was less pleasant to deal with Yujinaka. I didn't miss him and wasn't happy to work with him again . And apparently , Naka wanted to at some point change the name of Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg to Billy Hatcher and the Giant Cock , to which Mike Fisher Fisher said quote, he is literally the most miserable person I have ever worked with in games or anything else in my life, just a horrible human being, and you can quote me on that. As you know, he's also now a convicted fel on . It's just like this demand went into an interview that was not about this and was like, I have one mission. Is the platformer like just a perf genre? 'Cause there is like not a great history there for that . Rayman Yeah, you know what? Everybody designs platformer. They should be locked up. I think there's no doubt about it. No, no . I do plays them. I do plays them. Yeah, no. But his point was ha aving bunk with Kyle. I don't want to be in there with him. He'd be fine. He's clean. But it's like a broken clock situation of like, yeah, he's a huge asshole, but like Billy Hatcher's drying is a good name for a game. Is that ? Yeah, that's probably what it was. He was like we should have gone the benefit, cool, cool, cool Get a load of this. This is something for the Min part of Min Max. It's a Minneapolis promotional film with an original song if you want to cue it up, then it's from nineteen sixty eight and it's a promotional film for Minneapolis that just talks about what's beautiful about it. And it's a very cute little song with some very cool archival footage of six ties Minneapolis. Very enjoyable as a lifelong resident until now when I bought a house in St. Paul because I'm a fake fan actually. Minneapolis This is a great The Crystal May's a wind tree snow and as I enter the gateway there is to say hello with w inter, you know, we're not hiding from it. Respect for that. Stay away everybody. I just got my head blown off and fallout. We'll say that . Get a little bit. I am constantly obsessed with finding new systems and being like , this is the one that's going to work. So here's one of my latest . I fell down the Filofax rabbit hole, which you can get cheaper versions of this. It's essentially just like a bound binder where you can like replace the stuff, but it's very nineties romcom early auths character coded and I've really been enjoying it because I used to be into Hoboniche before this, which is great, but it is kind of like the annual churn of getting the book, which is own fun, but I kind of like the idea of something that's a little bit more evergreen. So I've just been enjoying having it. And it's really cool if you're someone who does some degree of either collecting stuff or like scrapbooking, which I've started to do scrapboo king. I'm not doing that great on it. I'm still on last year guys and we're halfway through this year. So I'm getting I'm getting a little concerned but I dream of of putting all this stuff together. So it's like it has all these different little pockets and like you can get stuff that fits in the back that can kind of zip like you can like put little stuff in the zipper, which is also really great for like if you do cons at all. Like even if you're just going to like a packs as a fan, like I get like aj killaion business cards and stickers from people and then I end up being like where is that and what do I do with it? So it's just nice to have like a catch all of like a notebook but also putting in receipts or stickers or business cards yeah that's Filo Fax, but you can get like dupe versions. Again, anything that's bound with a binder, it doesn't need to be 'cause I know File Fax can be expensive 'cause some of the stuff is like actual leather and that can be a lot of money, but you know, just the general idea has been fun. I'm Links Bloat for all this stuff. Hey, get a little this Fred in the Discord channel where there's a whole channel for get a little this where people share fun things all day every day. Again, my favorite news feed for keeping up with the world . But Fred shares something that Fred of the Show, Brendan Bigley was on. If you remember him from what the Borderlands four review discussion , that episode of the podcast he was on. But he just launched something called Overworld , which is a great name and the idea is hey, it's just a site that takes in RSS feeds for all of the most popular gaming stories of the day . Is there a better way to describe it Jacob? He a w'osnderful post explaining of where it's coming from. But no, I missed this. Oh my god, yeah, it's super cool. So it is just overworld. Oh, I should probably find the actual link here. Hang on, don't mind me. Yeah, it's overworld.vg. So think of it's just kind of like a clean, easy reddit where it's like, hey, here's a story that seven outlets are reporting, here's a story that six outlets are reporting. I have recommended worth your time articles as well, but just like for a one stop shop for keeping up with everything going on in the game industry. It's a really awesome endeavor and I hope it does well. So again, it's overworld. And there's a link in the description if you want to check that out . But that is it for this episode of the Min Max Show. Thanks everybody for watching, listening, sharing all that fun stuff. We got a lot going on here, like the deepest dive on zero seven first light . Leo , when the next stopping point for this thing ? The next stopping point is after the Nightfall mission . Okay. And I believe it's the one with zero seven in front of it. Interesting. It sounds exactly the same as the chap the chapters inter selection. Not double seven. Don't get me. There's going to be a post up on Patreon looking for your comments. If you support us any tier, even that two dollars tier, you can jump in and submit a comment for us to read during that. And when's that post going up then, Leo ? Of June thirteenth around. Okay, awesome. So two week break for this one. Yeah, look on Patreon because we wanted to kind of dodge the SGF stuff, which by the way, Janet is going to SGF with Isaiah friend of the show and then Kelsey Lewin's fun out there as well. So they'll be making a travel log and reporting back next week then. Jeez, that feels such a wild thing. Like you're going there very soon, Janet. The calendar's already, so awesome. Yeah, should be fun. Already kind of, you know, getting a sense of people already coming into town as it feels like the week always secretly expands with like, oh someone sing something earlier or like the mix is like the day before for instance. So yeah , we'll be doing all that and really excited. Was this the third or fourth year we're going? Does she have? Maybe more than that. I mean, Sarah went a while ago now. Yeah. She was the first to kind of break that seal, but yeah, I grew up there. It's weird looking back on them and being and seeing me myself age over time. So I get to have that to look forward to. Yep. But travel lot coming up for that, also the Min Mac Spotlight on Haley and Sarah's big journey over to Japan for seventeen bits Oasis. That'll be coming up after SGF is the current plan, but look forward to that big next spotlight video with the extended version if you're at the backstage past year. But you kind of get an emotional preview of it with Bonuspod this week where it's Sarah and Haley podcasting about their entire trip through Japan and Tokyo and Kyoto and their wacky adventures. It's a super fun listen. So that's if you're at the five dollars on Patreon, you get bonus pod each and every week and this is a very, very good one just for them being so energetic talking about . It's very sweet. Haley called it like the best trip of her life, you know, so it's cool that 's so cute. We get to share video of that with people very soon here . Also in the Bonus Podcast feed, we have an interview with Sunatica two's game design lead Anthony Gaegos. If you recognize that name from Rebel Fem or one Up , Comedy Button, all that fun stuff like I've been listening to him for decades now, so it's fun to talk to him. And where did the the light? He was game design lead for Smatica two, a great game as well. And so technically it's like the first interview anybody from the Samatica team has done since that game launched. So you can check it out for fun insight on that game's development. Overall, and also we go back in time and talk about one up and all that fun stuff with Anthony. So it's on YouTube and also in that bonus podcast feed. Jacob, would you have something you'd like to plug, sir? Yeah, look, for all you devoted Min Max listeners who listen to the veryed end of the episod e and also live in the Baltimore area . This weekend on Saturday june sixth , I believe , there is going to be an indie game fest at the Eno ch Pratt Library in Baltimore . And Emma Kidwell, narrative designer and I are going to be doing a keynote there about memoir games. She's going to be talking about her experience making them. And I'm going to be mostly asking her questions and talking about my experience as a person who plays them and writes about them. So come by if you're there and tell me you're a Minax fan. I'd love to say hi to people. Cool. Link to let it check it out. Janet, what do you got? Nothing. I don't think I got thumbs this up. Oh really? Leo's at you. But I appreciate it. , I feel like Leo has something to say. That's what I wanted to say. You seed your time, thank you. Yeah. Cassidy Coke, one of my favorite hitman creators, she does his hitman facts and features series that is like the absolute most useless, most esoteric hitman details . And some really useful ones, but stuff you would just I just have not learned about this game in the thousands of hours playing it . She put out her biggest video yet and I have a cameo in it. I do Vio for a couple minutes and I helped write the segment and it's a little cutaway series of gags and stuff for hitman related material. So I plugged that. I hereby plug that. You're by the channel name one more time. Cassidy Cope sweet links below for all this stuff. All right, thanks so much everybody. Tune into our reaction streams for SGF this Friday and everything else rolling out throughout the week and we'd appreciate it. If you enjoy all the content we're pumping out with the deepest dive going on and all that stuff, you can basically use it like a tip jar if you jump into the two dollars tier on Patreon. And if you do it before this coming Monday, we'll DMUS steam code for Onimusha two, the big remaster that just launched last year. So get a great game and support us at the same time. If you're enjoying what we're releasing. And then Peep Bang last episode of the season is dropping Monday, Janet . Yeah, I don't know that we've like teased what it is, so I don't want to give it away if it's meant to be more of a surprise, but let's just say we're establishing traditions as a show now that we're in our second year and third season. So I'll leave it at that. A fun episode. There we go. All right, that's it. Big episode long episode. Hopefully, good episode. Thanks so much everybody. We'll be back next week for even more to talk about . Until then, be good after let's go
