I always say I'm a basketball fan before I'm a Kicks fan And we got a series. and that was a great game. You know, that's what we wanted Like after the Western Cver' F finals, like we didn't have games like that. We didn't have games like game two Like this is a good game This is not what I expected to hear from you What do you expect I expected anger and dismay I expected the guy that ended our last podcast screaming Nixson four. to be upset with what just took place in that game was that in the fourth quarter for the Kicks until The game was like You know, it's all but done and then they hit a couple of shots at the end of that game to make it close, but It's a one point game going into the fourth. And first seven minutes of the fourth. They just cannot get a to save their lives and the offense that we got used to. I mean just looks so unfamiliar from the team that won the thirteen games in a row because we've gotten so used to this team being devastating and especially in those nip talk games being devastated, being the one that's able to execute it. It was the spurs that were flying around defensively and it was the spurs making the huge shots There was it was like some of, you know, the Kicks have been playing like we like you said like It's like every nick is playing their best And this was sort of the other side of that in the third and fourth quarter because there were some possessions but it was just jailing drilling the ball until's four seconds left on the clock and taking a bad shot or giving somebody a grenade. There are some possessions where it wasn't jailal, just kind of like them kind of looking around waiting for somebody to do something You know? and There wasn't a lot of towns They weren't attacking close outes. It didn't feel as sharp. as it has in the past thirteen games. and a you know, tip your hat to the spurs, they played really well. they play good defense. They made some huge plays down the stretch ike Man Hastle three That was such a terrible possession. The Gardens' rocking and Weby just dribbles for twenty two seconds. doesn't even like go anywhere. It's like they're playing like prevent offense. He didn't even like try to go for. He just sat there dribbled like it was like a dribbling drill and then Throws it over to Castle. If there were any guys that were going to have nightmares over what has taken place thus far in this series It would be Fox Wh makes the shot that he missed early in the series, you know, time after time and missed the nine foot and runner It is Weemby who threw the ball off the back of Castle And for those guys, you know They were saying all the right things, but you don't know if it's pomper and circumstance or if they're like They really believe it where They're talking about like we watch the tape. We made mistakes We can't make those mistakes if we want to win, but they had like this level of confidence that they were It'salling and And then they played like I mean, they came out First quarter They came out Weemby's cracking. They were They were awesome. They really were to start the game. It's crazy. It's just so odd. This weemby thing. It's like you're seven foot six. Like the way he played in that first stint when he was out there for like that seven minutes. He's just rim running a dunking. And he's not he's not taking any mids. he's not taking any threes. He is just dunking around the basket. And like I just don't I don't understand why I go away from that. I think fatigue is a factor there But like I do not understand why he he very clearly they were like we're going to get wh he touches and we're going to get him going downhill towards the basket And but that only lasted for the first quarter Think about it. And we think about the way this played out. So Wimby and Castle are they're doing their thing The spurs come out shooting fireballs ten of thirteen to start the game. There three or four from three. everything's going their way All the while in the first like eight minutes of the first quarter I think towns touch the ball one time I've just listened to And obviously, we watched the game take place over the weekend And then I've listened to everybody's podcast and it's like, look at the serious stop right now. Towns is the MVP. Towns has been the guy Towns and I'm like Come out in game three in your home crowd. They don't have a natural matchup for him And it's just Jayen Brunson dribbling the ball into the ground And Carl Towns in the first eight minutes touch the ball. I think twice The second time he touched it he scored on the baseline on Cornet. That was it. And I'm like what are they doing? like And meananwhile Bridges gets two thousand three minutes So he's just out of' completely out of the game offensively for the rest of the game. And it and it also like sham it was crap And Shamnon has been I mean great for them But Sham it was absolute crap for them tonight. I mean, I think he ended up I mean, he's a minor twenty a minus twenty in in a ended up being like a four point game game. Not that you want to always take you know in a physical game plus minus one for eight from the field and one for seven from three in that fun but he gets past wins windby on that corner close out It's like, You know he's going to be there. Like I've studied the film canan't just like a finger rolling at you He's following you He's done this for years. So it's like the Nicks or the Nicks are discombobulated Bridges is found trouble Towns a touch of the ball. Brun is dribbling the ball into the ground. I mean, hard and OG were hitting shots though. especially that second quarter. No they were hitting shots. The second quarter comes and this is what I marked down. think got sparked by Alvarado. Alvarado had two great ones in his minute. And then there was a sequence Clarkson comes in, hits the three from the corner Kat bully balls one in. then Kat gets a stip away steel And then OG pulls up for three. And I mean, that place was I was like, oh, buddy. they just flppz. They flipped this game and now this crowd is on top of them and all of a sudden you start seeing some slumped shoulders that it's like I thought it was over. I thought thought it was over. I thought it was over. They've started slowing every single game. This person had like a dou digit lead in like the first quarter of pretty much every game. That's a crazy thing Jobi is because The second quarter Nick never showed up in the second half No, forty two to twenty four quarter We see that And it's like a tsunami. It's devastating and they're getting stops. They're flying up and down the court. The balls moving side to side. They're bopping it around OG was hitting shots, Hart was hitting shots. Bronson came back in in the second quarter and finally got going in the second quarter. But I mean they were they were devastated. They were great And then Second half came out likeike they're up seven and that lead was gone in two seconds. It was they had to lead like halfway through third quarter, but they didn't have any rhythm. It felt like all of the players that were playing well, OG and Hart just weren't performing. there's, you know, listen, like a lot of the all my group chastters talking about the refs, right I don't want to do too much of that. You know what I mean? I thought there were some really goopy calls But like This wasn't like a R thing. You know what I mean?ike it's all my group chats just talking about the refs, the Rs the Rs and ad I did all this stuff like I think this. I think I do not think that it was onene sided on purpose. You know, I've talked to you about this many times As soon as I saw Mark Davis and John Goobel, lookook at the time of this game twowo hours and forty six minutes Three hour friaking basketball game. It was challenge time out. challenge time out was challenge. There's no the problem with the Rs who got the majority of the calls or not. because a fans always going to see that one way It was destroying the flow of flow Y. there was no flow and I do think that that did hurt the cause, especially when they're trying to come back. I was like, it would be so nicks It would just be so nicks to win to on the road and like end up in a game seven in San Antonio. It's just the most nick shit for that to happen. I just felt like it just got so bruntsccentric in that first quarter And then Even then in the second half, I text you and I'm like, man, I don't know if him getting his fourth foul is the worst thing because they're falling back into it again in the third quarter. I'm like bro, this can't be a one pass maximum But then they start doing this thing where there's kind of like they're cutting around the outside, Hart gets it, but he's not being aggressive. So they get it to bridges brridges is feeling it. and you know, and the towns got whiming for him. So he it's like, they move the ball and then there's four seconds left the shocklock and it's just like What did you guys accomplish in the last twenty seconds? R? What did you accomplish And I do and and look, going back to the way this thing was officiated, how long this game took. I do think game the game that is going up and down the court is that is absolutely in the next favor. And this game was absolutely incapable of it having that kind of a flow. Like it just this was going to be we run a play, you run a play and And that is what Game two. devolved into in the fourth quarters. Well, many times in the fourth quarters, you're going to That's what the game is going to end up becoming But it felt like the whole second half It became that. They were not able to play free motion basketball in the third quarter either I mean, it's first but the whole third quarter at the free throw line. don't like I'm terrified I It's like, you know, Spurs win Wemby's great. I didn't think Wemby was great. I thought Wimby was great in his first shift But like he cut an Ally you from Fox to get to thirty points. He's pretty great, dude But like no, I'm say he can be a lot better. Like I just don't understand why he he's not just constantly catching Ales, constantly getting the ball deep into the in position, just just like What he did in those first seven minutes, I was like, oh, there's nothing you can do about that. And remember in the Thunder series of the same thing I think he gets tired. I was watching the run backack on defense a lot. And he's just slow, slow footed. and guys get past him really easily on the perimeter. Like OG went past him three times and just dunked I'm going to bet and to your point Played thirty eight minutes tonight Do you think he averaged thirty during the year? I do not know. No f.
