And you went through regulation overime and double over time before there was any separation that could take place. And there's these teams are going to look at fifty plays. that could have won them the game. and obviously The game winning plays at the end were made by Victor Winman now Absolutely. And u I thought Weemby was fantastic. and I think that I don't have the time to look at the shot chart. Like it's not even up yet but like It just felt like The closer he is to the basket the better off they are. And I think that's going to be like sort of the evolution of his early career 'ause you remember last year you was shoot all those jump shots Like it's just like hey, man, likeike I know you can shoot the threerees and go between your legs and stuff, but You're seven foot six and you get around the basket and you've got Alex Caruso on you who did a great job and made some great plays and for some turnovers, but like They don't have someone that can cover you And Chet on that one play when he got the An one was just way too late on the h. Great announcers and referees that really stayed out of the way and it got megaphysical in that game, but there's not some kind of heinous call that took place. there's not some kind of ejection, there's not some kind of tech. there's not some kind of cameame deciding horrible thing that took place and Lord knows it could have Probably twenty times because we were in game winning situations over and over and over again in that game. But I thought just all around good job by everybody in f. I mean, I are I don' know, I kind of walk away from this and being like Alice Cruso had the game of his life. ame And that's what kept the Thunder on life support Like he had the game of his life on both ends and I the Spurs won this game out right. and I feel like the without a sort of like Cusso out of body experience They should have won in regulation Switching to Zone should not have thrown the monkey wrench into the Thundnder offense that it did in double overtime and overtim Well, here's the thing. it's just so hard to get anything within six to eight feet of the basket against them You have to be pulling him away from the basket and like you just put such an onus on being able to make shots, which Carusso fit that bill tonight right If you're going to if you're going to command the extra attention to SGA, if you're going to make SGA see two by the time he gets to the free throw line extended, which they were they were coming up to make sure he you're not getting all the way to the basket, right? You're going have to stop right there And getet the paint touch, kick out, paint touch, kick out and You know, it's going to be a different guy for them some night you We've been through this, right? And then the fourth quarter, they were vomiting all over themselves and we were like, oh no. isn't here to calm this down. It looked like the team. trying to get into offense without a point guard. Castle had this just insane amount of turnovers in the game. eleven turnovers in eleven assists. I don't think I've ever seen that in my life. I don't think it's probably ever happened. It's a net neutral. It's like he made a couple of great plays, but sometimes just like Wow they like maybe Dear Fox should suit up. Like I know he's not okay right now, but We need him out there. I will say it speaks to the value of him and it speaks to why he was an all star this year and how much he means to them because you saw it especially in crunch time. Now they were able to get through without him you sow you know, how comfortable The last three minutes, it felt like Oklahoma City was getting everything they wanted to get and everything was a struggle for San Antonio And I be. You' a regulation. Yeah's's. Yeah. Oh I keep forgetting that we had like threees. have three. It was all bizarre And I mean, so many different things happened to this game And there were so many moments where it looked like Caruso is going to be the hero of this game or U Jaya Willies going to be the hero of this game or Chet be the hero of this game or Castle. almost like the Seven play they ran in overtime Dylan Harper just underthrew that. That was so perfectly executed And Castle could touch like the top of the backboard. So he could have gone up and got that. He just underthrew it and so Caruso was able to you can tell Caruso undercut Cruso was fooled on that b Yes. They went down everything I mean, they had they had five guys play double digits. They had two guys off there They had three guys off their bench play twenty eight or more minutes I mean, It was the very beginning of the game, super early substitution Trusso for Iheart, like early there's like three minutes in the game. It was it was an odd. rotation pattern. I was like, this is interesting. You usually don't see subbs this early in the game And then what the first thing he does is hit three threes. I don't know I think the Thunder could play much better. I think the Thunder has a lot ofou searching. For a double overtime game you think like, Ohh, this is even I think the Thunder have to make some serious adjustments. SGA you cannot allow SGA to be taken out of the game like that. You have to scheme him ways to get open. Yes, they're double teaming him So pass, cut away getet off the ball, have someone else take it up Do something, set a staggus dream, do anything to help him perform. I feel like they did not help him He played. fifty one minute D one minutes in this game. lookook at my nose. How many shots did he have in the first half? Like four I mean, he was seven for twenty three from the game. He had the the he had the worst plus minus on the team He was minus fifteen Well, he's minus fifteen, but he was only off time. I over. Oly off the court for six minutes I know I just I felt like the Surs did a really good job of disrupting the Thunder offense And you know, I think that these are two great coaches and I expect Damatic offensive changes from the Thunder for Game two Well and you saw the Thunder the one thing that the Spurs did so well They kept them off the line team only wingG SGA played fifty one mines and didn't have double digit free throws in this game as a team They only shot nineteen in the entire game That's usually what SGA gets. usually what SGA gets and Well they got the ball out of his hands. The whole first half he didn't have the ball And I just felt they did not Do enough to make that not the case. They were very happy to have him give up the ball early in the shot clock and then stand while other people did things. Well and obviously bigiggest thing is they destroyed them. on the boort. sixty one to forty rebound And that was that was the well, I mean, that was the cost playay and small You know what mean lookook, I know Homegurn had the big blocks, but homeomegurn was not there for this I mean you can't play, you can't have Ched Holeser play forty minutes and get you eight and eight You could you could find anybody It could get you eight eight. the real quiet though seven shots and also SGA is getting rid of the ball early in the shot clock You need more from homeg I mean, the only one that was stepping up was Caruso and he was making literally It was maybe he kept him in the game. I mean, that's when he had the twelve points and then probablyably gashed out a little. I mean playaying fifty one minutes in the game. That's just Well it was that there's no there's no training for that. They went to the zone and it felt like the thunder were not ready for it or organized against it. And they did it like five straight possessions. And it just feels like They should have an answer for that They they also have guys that can move their feet with him You know, there was a moment where I was watching this And this is the The curse of being being great is that these other teams are going to look at you and they're going to try to equip themselves to deal with said greatness. And we talked about this a lot when it came to U Minnesota and Denver that they were uniquely equipped because that was who the champion was And thens the Celtics N the Celtics. And the next will trade everything for bridges, No G andobi. We need wings to match your wings And you know personnel decisions are made with them in mind. This is who we're going to have to be. Right because they've got Steph Castle and Dylan Harper and and these guys are long and they are active and they are athletic and they So it's like the same way we watch Keson Wallace and the same way we watch Caruso and the same way we watch it's like That's what they've got to. Like this there's like four stight possion home was like one he falum. but it was like Carter Bryant was like going toe to toe with SGA and making things hard for him Yeah in front of him again an ISO against the NBB who always gets foul, who always gets a line, who always gets a bucket Wh just seems inevitable He's going to get thirty points.
