I'm Amy Robot. And I'm TJ Holmes, and for the first time in a while, we did not stay up and watch The new episode of Love Island on the night that it aired But why do I still feel exhausted? I just didn't I went to bed early and it didn't help. I know I'm surprised. You did fall asleep at seven PM, which you needed. and on the couch, then crawled into bed. I fell asleep probably around nine right when the show was starting. But yeah, I don't know. I thought maybe you'd get a little extra bump today I guess I'm missing Love Island. I don't have my extra loveve Island energy this morning. I guess that's what happened. I'm so worked up about Casey and and I couldn't sleep. Yeah, you were worried about what was happening What nasty ass thing he was doing on the show last night, so We'll be turning it on in just a moment and giving you an update shortly. Yes, we'll be with you about that shortly. But yes this morning run on this Wednesday. We're going be making stops in several places across the country country including making a stop on the pitch in Houston. We'll make a stop in Disneyland, making a stop at the gas pump at a Florida execution chamber as well. But Robes let's start this mom. You know what But Before that, there was a story, folks you need to stick around for Robes, I didn't look at it. She's been talking about this story for the past couple days, but there's apparently a guy who might be the most annoying guy in the world to me. Yes. And so I had a blast writing our what we call our kicker, our final story of the Morning Run, and it's dedicated to TJ. so wait for it Okay look forward to that. But let's start on this run with some uncertainty and there's plenty of uncertainty about a final peace deal between the US and Iran. Every time the President Robes comes out and says, this is in the deal. The Iranians come out and say, no, we didn't even discuss that. So that uncertainty is there and that back and forth is going on. But in the meantime, gas prices It been steadily dropping over the past few weeks. Have you noticed? but they've stopped because they stopped going up because the bombs stopped dropping and that at least makes sense. Yeah, so the bombs stopped dropping, but the prices aren't dropping fast enough for President Trump. And he wants the Jice Department to, yes, investigate oil companies because it's their fault The Pident wrote this on trruth Social. The big oil companies are not dropping their price at the pump to measure it with the sharply lower prices they are paying for oil Those prices are dropping like a rock. In other words, customers are being gouged. I have instructed the DOJ to immediately start looking into this. Gasoline prices better start going down a lot faster than what I'm seeing. exclamation points. What do you make of that? It's a threat to just say do what I say. Res. it's once again, it's the reflecting pool ever is the problem It's not my fault The Iran warar cause gas prices, ropes to skyrocket. We could call it the deflecting pool. Robes. He's now now making a reason and an excuse that you should not hold me accountable for what's happening at the gas pump Because I now had the Justice Department investigating a possible crime of price gouging, which he's saying is responsible for what we're paying at the pump This is incredible stuff. Smoke mirrors. Bro this is crazy. This is incredible stuff, but it's good news that prices are down. They're three hundredllars ninety two a gallon, That's the average Surely, people have noticed that, but they were four hundred fifty A gallon just a month ago, but ro before the war, they were under three bucks So folks are going to remember that. the midterms are very close by and to say that I'm going to have a criminal investigation into oil companies because gas prices are higher than I say they should be. Robes, this is I do believe that the majority of the American public is a lot smarter than you give them credit for. All right, nexte up on the run, we have a new problem at the deflecting pool, No, the reflecting pool in DC. Yeahet, we're talking dead At least three ducks have been found dead in the reflecting pool in recent days. and though it's not known at this point why the ducks might have died, An environment group suggested, quote, creating a giant duck death trap just in time for America's two hundred fiftieth birthday party is as trump as it gets M meananwhile, the president continues to insist that folks are vandalizing the pool says at least six arrests have been made. He has claimed without evidence that vandals have sabotaged the fourteen million dollars renovation After the pool was overtaken by algae once again, pieces of sealant started coming up from the pool's surface roads, but they're going to have to drain it, they say, partially again and do all these repairs. don't know what it's going to look like On the fourth of July at this point. All right, nextext up on the run, the Senate delivered a rare rebuke to President Trump yesterday. Albeit a symbolic one, the Senate passed the war Powers resolution that would block the president from taking further action against Iran without first getting congressional approval. This sounds incredible. Yeah, the House previously passed this resolution But this is the tenth time the Senate has voted for it. What's different this time for Republicans joined with Democrats to pass the bill. Now we did say Robes, it's only symbolic because again, schooloolhouse Rock, we know it's only a bill. until the president's signature gets on it Don't expect that. That's a shame though, right? Like if it's a war that's so crazy to me that it's set up that way if you're doing something to limit someone's power, but the person who has the power has to sign it How is that even effffective in any way, shape or for? What are the numbers to override a presidential veto and all this stuff? It's all kind against school house of rock. We opportunity, but not gonna to happen. All right, next up on the run, last night's primaries held in four states, Maryland, South Carolina, Utah and New York. and most headlines are about what happened here in New York last night where mayors or hunt Why can I never say his first name? Because the R and the H throw you off when you look at it. Zan Zoran. Yeah. Zoran Yeah, you're right. There's. Okay Zo run M mom, Donny was not on a ballot, but he picked up three victories yeah three candidates socialist candidates that he endorsed won their primaries. Two of them beating inc cumbs. This is a big deal, a sign of his popularity and political influence in somemmerere using the words Kingmaker to describe him now. And the one no Rose the the Nadler is leaving the Midtown Manhattan district. there was like eight or ten people fighting for that spot. and they got a lot of attention because Camelot was on that bout But Camelot is not going ropes back to Congress. Some folks are excited about this, but JFK's grandson, Jack Slosberg did lose in that primary came in third, fourth, I think He did, but folks are excited about that. the idea of a Kennedy being back. Yeah. Show I think this is just the beginning for him. He's young and yes, you always lose a few before you win. right? That's the way it goes. Next up on the run, Florida is scheduled to carry out its nation leading ninth execution of the year tomorrow. And in doing so, it's making a record of sorts. Yes, it's setting a record, I should say. Convicted murderer Dusty Ray Spencer is seventy four years old and that will make him the oldest person ever executed in that state. Been on death row thirty four years convicted for the nineteen ninety two stabbing death of his wife. Not sure how much you looked into this. These are some horrific I looked into it We're going to do a whole episode on this because this is an unbelievable story. Yeah jury though initially voted seventy five for the death penalty. That sentence was later vacated by the state Supreme Court, but in ninety six, he was resentenced And once again, given the death penalty. and rob so much of the conversation here. We talk about cruel and unusual and all these things. and the argument here, roes greatly is about He's seventy four. What are what are we doing? He's not in good health. What's the point of it? but Justice is the point and the law says what the law says. Yes, that's true. And by the way, we mentioned the record that will be set. Well in just twenty days, Florida's next scheduled execution is for another seventy four year old man. He'll he's twelve days younger elve days younger than Sencer. I just so happen to be back to back. My goodness. All right, nexte up on the run, a thirteen year old boy was taken to the hospital after falling fifty feet during a ride at Disneyland. Disney says the teen exited the ride before it was over. And nobody knows why. There's video of this that TMZ has. you could tell they are shooting the video someomebody is playing for them on a cell phone. Obviously somebody didn't want to electronically send it to somebody, but you do see it in Robes, this is Do I have ride? It's maybe my favorite ride. This is riding It used to be Spllash Mountain. Spllash Mountain. You you and I went to Disney World and you were like, we gota ride Slashount That was like your jam. But it yes. So the video shows and ropes, These are the ones with the big logs that you ride through, the water rides. at the top of the final drop, you see he steps out for some reason and nobody knows why. Maybe he got scared You know You know what that's a good. I never thought about that. I thought being curious being a kid or something and maybe I don't know. I think about that. Freaked out and didn't wantan to go down. I don't know. But he appears to slide down is fifty foot drop. He was taken to the hospital, but released seems to be okay, but it's Tiana's by you adventure now. Oh okay. You remember they changed it because of the racial the song was the Song of the South that was a part of a Disney nineteen forties animated film that had some really awful racial stereotypes in it. and this whole ride was based on it. So that's why they changed it. Yes, this happens to be the ride, but Slash mountain. We didn't know it. All right, it's kind of always going to be splash mount to me. All right, nextext up on the run, a complete ban on screens in classrooms for kids before second grade. That sounds Amazing. The Los Angeles schoolchool District has just adopted new and some of the strictest in the nation guidelines for screen time, which includes a total ban on screens before second grade. How? I think it sounds appropriate and badly needed. and I wish ares and I hate to throw stones because I didn't have the option, but you see it everywhere.ids amazing locations in the streets of New York City. O vacation in Paris and they're sitting there with their screens staring down through each his or her own. But this can't be a bad thing to have kids spending less time in front of a screen. It can't be It cannot. But Robes they're trying to do a correction from COVID. Look, this was a lifeline. This was great during COVID that we had this access that we could do kids had these screens, but now they're saying, okay, we need to remember this isn't a great thing for the kids. So the guidelines go like this. So if you're in second and third grade, you're only going get twenty minutes a day or less on a screen. That's second and third grade. Fourth and fifth, you get thirty minutes a day or less. And again, before second grade, you are not getting a screen at all at school. It goes into effect next year, but they also have some guidelines for high school and middle school kids. I don't know, Robes, can't be a bad thing. I love it less than sixty minutes per subject per week middle school and less than ninety minutes per subject per week for high school. Yeah. And look the tough thing, I remember not that long ago when my kids were in high school and they had iPads given to them by the school. And I'm having to go to bed early. I want to check their screen time. but they're like, M, myself homework and I have to use my screen. Yeah. And it was just always an excuse. They were probably watching reruns of whatever show they were I don't know, Gr's anatomy, but it's just impossible to police. so I do less is more for sure. All right.
