What's right ? CR yeah . Not only do you have the watch , but you're doing the beautiful pod on the Adam Friedlin show during the world Tafts Colin TBP . Okay. We're running this. This is running , I think, june twenty second , so hopefully Team USA is up two . Yeah , just trying to lock out lock down that one seat in the in the group. That's a record check, is that what you think will happen? I think they will get through the group . Somehow, it's encouraging. A prediction from CRES. We are still doing from Hell Month, and we've done really good from Hell movies, but we want to do one bad one in domestic disturbance It's the rewatchables presented by Fandul Predicts. But what happens when From Hell goes wrong? What happens when everything goes sideways, when everything's in place, it's like a basketball team where it's like, oh, we spent all this money. We have these stars and they nashed White Howard Basketbakers. You're in the lottery. You don't know what happened . And yet it still ends up being a rewatchables. And that is domestic disturbance , a movie that I implore both of you to watch again. I'm so relieved that this is how you're framing it because if you were gonna come in and be like, this has been one of my favorites for years. This is limited to fire this up . But like, it is, it is very bad , but it is entertaining in an exciting way for a variety of reasons, but one of which is like it's got a bunch of guys where you're just like, why did this guy decide to do this movie? So let me ask you this. Do you think it's bad or do you think it's stupid? Because I think there's a little bit of a distinction and I think that it's weirdly not bad. Like I think everybody's doing dis counts. It's bad, but it's stupid . You know, it's just one of those movies where we're gonna talk about this. You can just feel the several dozen minutes that have been carved out of it . And so it just often feels incorrect. Hi Craig Camera on the studio This is the only movie where I'm like, I think I used ten more. Yeah. There's definitely references to things where you're like, Did that happen? What is going on? It's awesome. At least you're asking a lot of questions. It's a good bad movie. I think one of the reasons it's rewatchable for me and I've watched this movie a bunch of times. I have no idea why 'cause it's fifteen minutes long . Yeah it's over at eighty eight minutes. This credit is hit in seventy nine minutes. Unbelievable. The decisions and the and like trying to figure out when did Vince Vaughn realize this wasn't going to be the one? Yeah. Travolta gives up about an hour in Travolta is really trying for about an hour . And in the last half hour it's like fuck, how many more days my plane is docked at the airport? There's just dumb characters. It has a lot of the From Hell Staples, but we're going to get to that. But the two thousands , this is when From Hell starts to go sideways . We have this really good run that starts with fatal attraction into the eighties . Basic instinct kicks in the era that we're doing, we're the good sun and that rocks the cradle, single female, we've the breakdown, we've the glory years . And in two thousands, they kind of ran out of ideas, but they realized let's keep doing this. And that's when you get domestic disturbance, you get changing l anes. Oh yeah, with Sam Jackson and Ben Affleck, the Road Raid from Hell . You get one hour photo with Robin Williams weird movie real killer from hell, though are all like friendly phot o guy. Yeah. Photo photo photo developer guy from Hell o Developer guy from Hell . The best one of all these from this decade is Disturbia, which I actually think is pretty good. And you can talk me into doing the summer from Hell. Yeah. You like that movie. Great movie. It's a rear window remake. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shire like right before . I mean, the wheels have been coming for twelve. He's disturbing Eagle eye, you know, he's trying. Yeah, it's all right. Transformers obviously. Yeah. Perfect stranger , Halle Berry and Bruce Willis. Just kind of came and went really bad movies. I honestly don't even know if I know that movie. New where it didn't go from, though , to be. How many of these films are on Tubi? I think everyone I mentioned is on Tubi. Yeah, it's such a real one. You're just like, we're on Netflix and I'm still gonna go. There's Netflix caliber and then we're down here at Tubi. And Tuvi's like, here, here's a thumbnail with Howie Barry and Bruce Willis. Okay, so why did this happen? I think is a good question to ask one more I have though. Okay . Lakefield Terrace, two thousand eight. Same Jackson neighbor from Hell, doesn't like the inter r couacpleial that moved next . It could be the last. It could be the last from hell and then Dark Knight comes along and cleans up hell, you know? That's right, that's right, Joker from hell . But so you can kind of understand why these movies start to pop, right? You can be like, well, there's like the AIDS crisis and movies like single white female and there's this idea of like some foreign presence coming in and changing your life or you can say that there's like class anxiety and the yuppy moment and the late eighties that is kind of driving some of this. But then as it goes on, is it just that the ideas get squeezed out and there's not any good ones? Like this is a stepfather from hell movie that's which by the way, we'd already done with the stepfather with Terry Quint. That's what I was going to say. It's part of the problem. You're just redoing the same kind of themes that we've already seen in other movies. I think the reason they kept there's two reasons they kept going. I think it's fun as an audience member to watch people make dumb decisions where you're just like, how do you not realize why aren't you listening to your son? Yeah . That's just fun as an audience member . And then the other thing is, I think people saw like what happened for Michael Keaton with Pacific Heights and and like Glenn Close and Fito Atraction. Like to zag the other way with a From Hell character is like a good career movement. First star yeah Jennifer Jason Lee and Shirt So like you can see like Vince Vaughn thinking , yeah, it's been five years since swingers . I got to take couple swings. Maybe I'll play like the evil stepfather guy. This would be good for me. And then he probably realizes what ten minutes in fuck. Yeah, but then you turn out to be Patrick Bergen and sleeping with the enemy and then you're like never heard from again. Yeah, right. That's the other issue with this is sometimes you if you're not a star. If you're a star, I think you can move in and out of one of these roles. And he was at this critical, I don't know if you want to talk about Bonn, but let's do it. He's at a really, really critical juncture of his career where six years have gone by since the thing that made him a big star . And he clearly had ambitions to be a serious actor. That was what he wanted to do. He wanted to do dramas, he wanted to do thrillers. Look at every single movie he chooses having swingers. Swingers lost world jurassic. He's like the fifth guy in that . Clay Pigeons , Psycho, the Cell, Domestic Disturbance, and Made. Those are all thrillers and then made which made is the idea Favor ite. It's his reunion of Favreau, but if you watch that movie, it's just as much a crime movie as it is a funny buddy comedy. And you can see like what he thought he was gonna do. And then after this movie and after this movie what did he make in two thousand two? Is it Dodge Ball? Nothing . Oh , he does disturbance and made the in zero one, nothing in zero two. zero three is old school and the light bulb goes on. Yeah. Oh, this is what I am. I'm actually like comedy Vincent Starsky and it's comedy Leading Man and nine in a row. Yeah. And then he goes back to the top. I mean, he, you know, he ends up being the breakup and stuff like that where he's headlining huge movies in zero five when the and the breakup's pretty flawed movie, but he's also dating Aniston , post Brad Pitt , he's an eight plus list of comedy show that he was like touring . Yeah. He was a eight plus lister. Total wedding crash. In One In one, it felt like his career was gonna end soon . And it was like, man, I feel bad for double down Trent . I don't know if this is gonna happen for him, but he kind of figured out how to flip it and use that shick thing as like his comedy persona and then he was off. It's really funny though 'cause there's something in the character of this movie that reminds me a lot of Trent where like Trent is always performing. He's always doing his bit. He's always trying to pump up Mikey, he's always yeah, you know, he's always got this like false energy , this bravado and he's kind of doing that in the first half of this where he's trying to connect with Dan i's having a catch with him when he's just like, Hey, want to build me some boats. Like he has it . He's often talked about in relationships to comedies how often he will sign up for a project and then the studio starts talking about how it needs to be PG thirteen. And you know, he had grown up and he had like all the movies that we love when we were growing up there was something a little bit illicit about them . And I think I can't remember if he was talking about internship or whatever, but it was something where you can actually see the roots of that problem in this movie because there's an R rated kind of more disturbing version of domestic disturbance that actually could be kind of fucked up and interesting , but they just shave down the edges too much and they sand it down and they make it into a PG thirteen movie that never really bothers anybody, you know, but it's like you can see how screwed up his relationship with Danny could have been and how weird it is and him being just like it's a bad dream, you know? I have a lot of ideas for this later. I just think PG thirteen is a death sentence. Do we think that they shot them and cut them out? I do. There's an hundred and eleven minute version of this movie that doesn't exist basically. Yeah, they cut there's a whole story behind it where I have it It was supposed to be like end of two thousand one. Nine eleven happens . Paramount has to rush Zulander up because Ed Burns has sidewalks in New York. It's their big September movie and they can't do it because it's New York. They move Zoolander up. I saw Zulander in the theater in Boston maybe two weeks after nine eleven and people just weren't ready for a comment. It was a weird vibe, yeah. though Even the movie's beloved now. So they push this movie up to like October and they decide it needs to be shorter and they just chop twenty two minutes from it. Now, the counter would be could this movie have had Twenty two more minutes , but then they did, they did that and they did the PG thirteen thing. And you can see like there's a lot of times they're saying fuck, but they're changing it to Don't Fool with Me, Chris. Yeah . Who says don't fool with me is the weird thing is that he goes, you're a fucking liar, Danny. So it's like they're allowed like bombs that they couldn't yeah, yeah . When you so you only know Vince Vaughan from the comedy Vince Vaughn. So when you see him like trying to think he this was a career path for him, is it like amusing? Certainly amusing. I think when he's doing a lot of like when he's playing baseball, he is kind of comedy Vince in this movie like I want, to catch it up here, I don't want to catch it over here. I want to catch it down here. Yeah, but I actually think that I don't think in a vacuum athlete was he sort of throw . I think in a vacuum Vince Vaughn's not bad in this movie as like a villain. I think he's if this movie were made right and there was fifteen more minutes in it, I don't think he's bad. He's not the problem in the psycho remake or Clay Pigeons or the Cell. Like it's not that he's a bad actor . It actually is just that he's not expl oiting what he's so amazing at. He's like agro Chevy Chase. That's his persona. He's like fast talking, smarter than everybody else in the room, kind of a dickhead, but very lovable. That's his comic persona. It's an amazing person a. In old school, that's some of the funniest shit you're ever gonna see in a movie in the two thousands, but you can feel him like really trying to broaden his horizons, to try to be a much more serious kind of performer. And like, it's just not what he's best at. And like you can, you can feel the acceptance in the late two thousands of him just being like, you know what? This just makes more sense for me. He basically does that until true detective season two, right? Like when he and now he's kind of pivoted back where he's doing , you know, cell block ninety nine and dragged across concrete. And he's trying to go back to the like hard edge thriller stuff that he really likes in his career, which I respect. it wasn't gonna make a star. Yeah, you can also prop your career up in different ways because like he his big thing now is this show on Apple called Bad Monkey, which I personally don't love the show , but it is a perfect Vince Vaughan vehicle because it's like Vince Vaughn walking around Florida solving crimes but making jokes . You know , yeah, usually the people hit as a comedian to have like seven eight years and then they decide I want to I'm I could be a dramat ic actor too. Vince Vaughan like inverted it . He had swingers and he's like, I'm I take me seriously . And then people were like, you're double down Trent. What's going on here? And then he flipped it the other way . So I don't know, you look at his zero three through twenty ten him and Farrell are like the they're they're at the head of all that shit with Apato they're in the most movies. They're in the they're making cameos and other people stuff and it just I don't think you want to accept it. I think when you look at Vaughn and Favreau from Swinger, we talked about this when we did rewatchables, thinking of like the potential of those guys in that movie and then thinking how their careers turned out, it's actually kind of incredible . Because even when they made Maid in two thousand one, which I saw , it was disappointing. Yep. I liked those guys. I felt like I had to see it, but it felt like it was like kind of over. Not aging well with the amount of ditty going on in that film. Well, true, true. But when you look at it now, like Fabreau's one of the most successful directors we've had last twenty years and Vaughan was one of the most successful comedy actors . So it somehow worked out great for them. It was such a weird thing with swingers. I wonder whether or not Vince Vaughan coming out of that movie was like the thing that people will love is me playing video games, you know, and being like , I'm going to make your guy b orleed whatever. Who's a big winner? Mikey wins. He probably thought it would be some of the more dramatic beats or some of the more like classic movie star beats if that movie got seen at all. But that's in the text of the movie. Like those guys are trying to be actors in Hollywood. They're trying to be Paul Newman. Like that's the whole point of the movie. People they dreamed of being. But the stuff that is the most fun is when they're just hanging out being friends and almost feels like they're improvising those scenes where they're at the diner or they're playing, you know, NHL , like that stuff just felt like their real personalities and that's what people wanted from them. But you're right, though, like if they had a hundred tries at their career , are they in the ninety ninth percentile of how well it worked out? Yeah. It's crazy. The other thing is he never figured out like there was like you talked about agro Chibi Chase, that actually would have worked really well for this movie . Like if he had been this like wheeler dealer like, charismatic guy and everybody in the town loved him, but like John Trebolton, Danny the little boy were like they were the only ones that knew he was bullshit. Yeah . But we didn't really see the charismatic side of him either in this. Only in like the baseball catch scene and he gets that chamber of commerce . But for the most part he's kind of playing it straight and sinister and it's a lot of a lot of shots of him . You're brushing your teeth and it's like, oh dan Vince is in the bear you know they use his height. Like they use some things about him that really work , but yeah, like the things that work the best in this movie are the two scenes with him in Bushemi because yeah, that's that should have been a ton of movie suggestion of a whole other universe of a whole other world they seem so comfortable together . Buschmi grounds this movie and makes it feel like it's part of like a larger world and yeah, then the stuff with both Terry Polo and the kid is just kind of like this feels like I'm looking at a picture that takes place in a frame so that I buy the frame at a department store. Yeah, I wrote down this movie's trying to be evil stepfather movie . It's basically an ABC after school special of like the first dad trying to keep his relationship with his son. It's a murder mystery. It's a boy the crowd wolf. Nobody believes me movie. It's a child of divorce movie and it's a little bit of a police procedural with one of the worst investigations of all time. Yeah, we checked out the incinerator, nothing there. Did you check his car? Yeah, couldn't find anything. Like really, he was stabbed to death . Or the front incinerators that incinerate bones. Like you know that that exists? Yeah, there's a couple still in LA. Yeah . Yeah . But it's like a it's brickworks. Do they have why would you need to like industrial ? Also it's always on the incinerator. It's just cooking twenty four seconds. Yeah, it's like a pizza . It's just on. I would love to get a picture of Rick's holdings because it's like, oh, I just bought a hotel and I have a brickworks. You guys like laundering all this much. Chamber of Commerce is like, say no more. Here's your word . The unintentional com edy in this movie is out of control . Terry Paulo is the mom . One of the this is a staple in these movies, the dumb way for the dumb mom who just doesn't see all the signs and then there's like the moment , which she has when she sees she has on Training Grin Burns. Yeah . But we have that. We have all the times they try to do sinister vince from like the door closes and he's behind it or he's in the mirror. And then for me , Travolta in this movie , it's a ten out of ten. He's pouring his soul into this movie. Yeah. The first hour, he is working so hard . And he's really likable. Like is likeable as Tremonta is likable. He's just like man , this guy's just like great first dad. He's just a great role model . Just wants to make some wooden boats. Doesn't even care if he makes money on them. I actually think he's just like doing the exact wrong thing for the movie. The movie makes a lot more sense if he's like kind of a skisy alcoholic. Yeah, a bitter and like a little more mad, but he's having these convers ations with his girlfriend and he's just like, Gee Williacers, if only my boy boy would truly be happy. She's giving literally zero in those hands the girlfriend again. It's like plays like when Ye was working out against a chair The actress, but it's just like it's John Travolta and like the NPC of actresses it's tough. They definitely save some money on that . Yeah, he's he's really going for it and he really just wants to have a good relationship with his son. The one there's one moment in this movie that crystallizes that is when he goes up to the house because it's his day and she's just like, yeah, sorry, he's not here. And he's like, okay. He walks away . And I'm like, What was the dramatic tension? Zero. There's so many scenes like that where you're like, why did they think this was the best version of the scene? Like they go boating . Terry Paulo asks him. Yeah, hey, can you take them ? Maybe take him for the boating and guys can I really want my son to like him. He's like, all right, I'll do it. And they go boating, and the scene's like forty seconds . It's like, they could have had any sort of character development or some sort of them trying to fill each other out. Nothing. They just kind of bring the boat back in. a There very' funsny moment where Von and Danny are at the wheel of the ship, the wheel of the boat, and he's trying to explain Starboard to him and all the lingo and Von's like, yeah, let's just stick with left and right . Dickhead. Like his general tone is just like these in wedding crackers in domestic disturbance. It's really funny. The baseball catch scene is probably my favorite scene in the movie. The most rewatchable scene for sure. It's just a tour, but it needed like four more scenes like that. Yeah, I agree. It's basically Danny doesn't get along with them. The only reason we really can think of is because they have that baseball like collection of things coming of age, things they could have done together like Rick shows Danny how to drive. Rick gives Danny his first beer . Teaches about a spoke . It would have been a lot better. I mean, the movie is really weird because the kid who plays Danny is kind of like likable and normal, but they're treating him like he's like the town hoodlum, you know? Is normal? He's kind of normal. The thing that I think is cut out is like Danny's past lies because the cop seem s to fucking hate you . And I'm like, what did he do to you? Yeah, he's like, this fucking kid did it again. I'm not wasted my time. But he like, yeah, did he call in like a fake bomb threat? Like what happened? Yeah. He just seems like a mischievous teenager and not evil. They're like, oh my God, he threw a baseball through a window. Like what kid didn't do that? Well, he does have a stowaway finish. That's true which comes out which finally manifests itself midway through the movie. So Travolta, this is one of the things I love about this movie is it's the end of Von kind of thinking he could be this as an actor . It's the end of Travolta. This is he's on a heater from pulp fiction ninety four through two thousand , where he makes basically three to four movies a year that are major movies Pulp, Get Shorty, Broken Arrow, Michael, Phenomenon, She Lovely, Face Off, Mad City, primary colors, thin red line, general's daughter . And that's all in like five years and then Battlefield Earth happens in two thousand. This is the sort of backwash of battlefield earth. Battlefield Earth people are like this is swordishf before back battlefield had come out. Is that true? No, I don't know if like technically, but it's like it would make sense that swordfish and domestic disturbance were like the last two, like this guy seems normal. He did lucky numbers after that too. Okay. The battlefield earth is like the tipping point. I would say general it starts with General's daughter, which is also not good. I would say general daughter. General's daughter is an awful awful moment of movie. General's daughter's like a ten minute rape scene for first. No raises an awful vile nasty. I hate that movie. General's daughter reader . This movie swordfish and basic is an all time bad run. And some of it is like he picked the wrong movies. Some of it is he's trying to like pivot his persona literally movie to movie where he's like in Battlefield Earth that'll be more like, you know, the villainous figure. But that was a scientology movie. Totally. Totally. But he's in this movie you can al,most feel him reacting like Chris is saying. She's like, I'll be a warm dad. I'll be the hero in this movie. But him being a hero actually makes the story not very dramatically interesting. Like very early on in the movie, it's like, Well Vince, Vaughn is clearly evil as soon as Duceme shows up, you're like, okay, well Vince Van is a criminal and we're just waiting now to find out what happens. The movie doesn't really push you along this sense of like, well, is it actually Travolta who's like an alcoholic and his son who's like kind of a degenerate teenager. I mean, why did they say why did they break up? Yeah, right. What happened in their marriage? Because down like champagne in that first, when he's given the guy the boat in the beginning of the movie. He's like, No, no, no, I won't do champagne. I'm gonna have a beer. And I was like, oh it,'s 'cause like maybe he's only on beer. He's not allowed to have anything else. But they never touch on it again and he seems like a lovely guy. So it's unclear why Terry Polo would divorce this like totally nice boat maker the g.ir Andlfriend leaves him too and she's like, yeah, I've had enough of this. It's like, why, what do you do? He seems like a great guy. He's just trying to make some wooden boats. Yeah. And he's pretty involved in his son who cares about his son. That's your issue. Fuck . He still has like in the two thousand s. He still does like one out of every five or six pops. Like it's be cool happens . And then what's the other one that we got? He's good in taking a poem one two three the, real like I like that. Like he became self parody as chef in two thousand . I think you hit that zone as an actor where the general public's going, what's going on with this guy ? And he's t aak loten of paycheck movies. Well, this is when Red Box movies also come in, right? Like it's Yeah, I mean his I wanted to ask you guys a question about him, but he was just at Cannon when I was at Canada because he had the craziest directorial debut which is like, sixty a two minute movie about the first time he ever flew on a plane. Like it's just the weirdest . Apple's putting it. It's on Apple. Yeah . It's called One Way. So everybody was like, This is true cinema. Is that like a bit? It's a bit. Yeah, but he was like, he wore a beret to every single screening of the film. He's got a weird mustache go tee situation. And everybody was like, Why are you wearing this beret? And he's like, Well, I looked back at photos of old directors and they were all wearing berets. So I thought I too will wear a beret and become a director. Like he's an eccentric guy to say eccentric nice. Yeah, he's a weird guy. But has there ever been an actor who's made incredible culture chang ing movies who's also made more bottom of the barrel dog shit than John Travolta. Like he has the widest chasm from pulp fiction, Saturday night fever, Grease, like the movies that change people's lives to whatever the last fifteen years of his career has been where he's in like stuff like God i which gets roundly destroyed or dark vengeance, like a movie you've never heard of and never seen that is a red boy. Now he's in the movies like my dad would mistakenly order an Amazon because it's like Travolta and Bruce Willis are in it and it's like from the last five years. They're both in for forty two seconds of the movie. Yeah . I think part of the problem with him When you when your aspiration becomes to have your own private plane that you can fly around , you just start taking paycheck movies. Yeah . And I think this happens to him there's in the research of it, it's like. It Travolta f planlew hise and he landed in Wilmington, North Carolina and everybody loved him and he still parks his plane there sometimes . I think for him, he's like, I'll do five a year. How much can I make enough to buy this cessna. Gas is expensive now, you know? It is, it is. It's a really weird career though. It's the weirdest. He 'cause I go all the way back to him when he was welcome back cotter when he was Barbarino and then all of a sudden he was Saturday Night F andever he was the single biggest movie star we had . But then this comeback was like people loved Travolta in the nineties. Like they did like I went to all those movies I listed, I probably saw every one of them in the theater including General's daughter, which I really like movies that were big hits at that time. They don't hold like phenomenon in Michael. Those movies don't really hold up as well. Like they were really cool pitches where it was like what if he has like a sixth cent style power? What if he's an angel? Like they seemed interesting, but those movies don't really have like a cultural shelf life, but pulp and get shorty for sure do. And the seventies movies still hold up, but it's a real face off f,ace off is so th.ough Face off, yeah. I enjoy broken arrow. I like broken arrow. You should watch our phenomenon with Liz. Okay . Watch it with your twin Craig . Watch it with Liz. It's an emotional one. Okay . It's got, I remember there was one sequence where in phenomenon with Kira Cedric 'cause he's dying and he's like, Will you love me for the rest of my life and she and she goes , I'm gonna love you for the rest of mine. Is that your attempt at doing Cure Sedgwick's mouth? Yeah . I'm gonna love you for the rest of mine. It's one of those movies. My wife loves that movie. Not a great one. N .ora Ephron Which one is he in Angelin? That's Michael. Michael. And then in powder. Michael is bad. Is he in powder? No, he's not in powder. He's not in powder. This would be a great quiz show where just it's like you try to guess the Traibolta movie and what party plays . Terry Polo, brief run here for her coming off, meet the parents . Big role for her. Probably excited when she got it. You're gonna movie with John Travolta and Vince Vaughan. Yeah, they're gonna be fine over you. Yeah she's just like a slice of American cheese. You're just like, that was fine. She's not done any favors by this script. I don't know what she could have done with it, but yeah, it's kind of hard to judge in general any per, formance or character because you're like, well what do what's not in the movie? Like what are we missing here? Madow O'Leary was the kid. He's actually good. Screenplay by Harold Covin, he's probably still mad about all the stuff they cut. And then Harold Becker directed this mo vie. Wait, isn't this screenplay by Louis Kolick? Oh, I wrote Harold Colvin Dow. Listen, might it be Louis Colick? I think it's Louis Colick. Okay. Harold . You wrote a couple of movies like this, I do . So he 's one of the weird director careers we've had . First big movie he directs. He's fifty seven years old, the Genfield . He does taps and vision quest , big town, the boost. You like the boost. Sean loves the boost. You like the boost. The boost? For the first time this year is amazing. Yeah. Sea of love, which we've done on the ReWatchables. Yeah. Malice, which we will do on the Reatchable. Wait, Vision quest we've done, Sea of Love, we've done Devils what happens and I just want to say one of my takes is that Harold Becker now has the same number of movies on the Reatchables as Stanley Kubrick. Record that's one of your takes . It's just a statement of the fact . I don't know what category I put that in, but I put it in one of the categories. City Hall? Yeah, I love city hall. You're a big city. You're the only one I know who likes City Hall. Oh, I love it. I don't remember Mercury 's mingling . This isn't what he says, but I always hear him saying, I'm governing again . Mercury, Isaac ninety eight , what was that Bruce Willis? Yeah, that's a thriller with Bruce Willis. The movie right before that. It might have been the only movie I didn't see in nineteen eighty eight . And then domestic disturbance zero one never does another movie . Well, he was fifty seven when he started. So calls it calls it a career after that. seventy five million dollars budget made fifty four million dollars. Yeah. How did this movie cost seventy five million dollars ? Honestly, they built all those boats. What did they spend this money on? Honestly, Travolta probably got like fifteen to twenty million dollars for the reason. Probably. Yeah, probably. He's a huge star in two thousand. Yeah. That said, if this movie cost seventy five million dollars today, it would be outrageous in two thousand one . I think part of the reason is there was an incident that we'll mention let's mention it now. This movie became famous because there was this is the Steven Sigal shitting on himself award for a most unbelievable anecdote from the actual film shoot a hu,ge fight in april two thousand one in Wilmington, North Carolina, a bar fight with Vince Vaughn , Steve Bushemy and the screenwriter Scott Rosenberg who was there. Do you assume that Scott Rosenberg was there because he was on set rewriting? Rewriting. Yeah, he's a he's rewritten a lot of movies over the years. They get bombed at this bar by according to the accounts , get into it with the locals. Somehow they end up going outside for a report that some guy's girlfriend starts talking of . Believable. Yeah. I buy that. Yeah . There's some sort of fight . A local man gets in a fight with Bushemi and slashes him with a knife , slashes his face and everyone goes to stab him . Whole thing. And if you watch the movie, they have to hide Buchetmi's face in a couple scenes. Yeah. When he goes to see him in the hotel room, the whole side of the hotel room is dark for some reason. It's a completely different lighting skill than the rest of the movie . It's actually pretty cool . And this movie became famous for that for this huge, huge fight. There was a trial, all kinds of shit. Yeah, it's the most well known thing about the movie. It's a weird one. I was wondering how you guys felt about this if you're a big movie star , are you going to the local dive bar? I don't think anymore during the show. I think this kind of ended that kind of stuff. That in the cellphone era. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is like the tail end of that era. That's what I was thinking for sort of like, what's age the worst or best just participating in the social culture of a town while making your stories about like I know of like a TV show where it's like the guy from the TV show like just did very well for himself at bars around the city that they shot in. You know, like that kind of thing still can happen. John Ham? No . But yeah, when it's like a big movie star now, I don't think like Vince Vaughn and Steve Buschemi, whatever that is now would be like Austin Butler and Timothy Chal amay could not go to like a bar in New Orleans. That's exactly what I'm thinking. Would that be like a bunch of security. And I guess like the Shila Buffs do that and then you see what happens counter , how much fun would it be to go out with Vince Vaughan and Steve Bushemi in two thousand one? Yeah, I'm going. Yeah. Steve Bushemi is like, Hey, can you can you Bushemi? I wasn't planning Why don't we get after it tonight? I can't do it . Yeah, but they go out and they get after it and the whole thing. I remember I was in the whole thing is they get stabbed. Well, sadly the neck kept going . I remember when they were film ing the town in ' nineteen Ham was in Boston and I was there for my book tour and I was out with my buddy J Bug and Ham came out and met us with Rebecca Hall, the lady from the movie. Oh yeah, and we had drinks and the J Bug was , you know, we're in Bob we were in a discreet park in Boston and the JBug was just like this is the Madman . This is fucking crazy. It's the guy from Madman. He's come out of my TV. So I can imagine like in Wilmington, North Carolina with all these people that the celebrities aren't there that much and they just see the guy from Swingers. Can I hit on somebody's girlfriend? Real quick about this story because if you read about it, it does. It sound like this guy's girlfriend started hitting on Vince Vaughn. The guy lost his mind about it, but it sounds like Buchemi got Vince Vaughn's back and Vince Vaughn got Buschemi's back. Like it does sound like two guys who were like, I'm not fucking back and down. You know what I mean? Sure. I love it . Was this like Kaifz's wedding was like this? Barfight down was the locals like coming at you guys at all or no is that Danny Kelly, hey, motherfucker. I heard what you said about the chargers . Was there a lot of NFL media at Heifetz's wedding? No. So Daniel Jeremiah wasn't getting the knife . You got a knife fight with Daniel Jeremiah. The sticks. That would be amazing. He's incredible with a blade. I would back you up in a bar fight. I would want him on my Yeah, for sure. I played basketball. I can also see if it's getting us into a bar fight to the problem . Yeah, yeah. Well, we're gonna have a ringer Awards at the end of this year and one of the awards is Ringer Character of the Year and Heifts and Rahim Palmer are now in the finals for working out after the Nick's game in Sweden at five in the morning, going immediately to a gym and getting a lift in order. I don't know if anyone's popping that you doing this award for Maximitcher going to host the workshop and and Van's going to be upset that he wasn't nominated for more awards. It's like what else do I need to do? Roger Ebert for this movie, one and a half stars . So we last week , he liked it more than Goodsun. Last week Goodson was a half star when we recorded that. You haven't heard that yet. This was one and a half. He wrote the movie is a p aid holiday for its director, Harold Becker . I say this because I know what Becker is capable of. Yeah. He's so disappointed . Tough one. And then he said, The final confrontation so badly choreographed that I was not the least bit surprised when the studio called to say the Chicago critics had quote seen the wrong last reel. Would we like to see the correct reel on Monday . I agreed eagerly expecting revised footage, but no, the only problem was the earlier real was lacking the final music mix. So he must have been fucking furious. He had to go see this movie twice in a week. Imagine watching this twice in seventy two hours. I would have been fucking pissed from hell. All right, we're gonna take a break and then do a most rewatchable or unwatchable scene. Are you looking for support in your weight management journey? Zepp bound to zeptide may be able to help. All right . Most rewatchable scene. I like when Rick goes boating with the boys. Definitely here and they're establishing Franks. Just he's just a great first dad. Have you guys ever believed someone less than when Vince Vaughan says, I'm not trying to be his dad, but I would like to be his friend . I can't hear him say a single thing and take him seriously. Yeah , I can only hear the rival newscaster from Anchor Man that he plays, you know, is it Vince Mantooth? Yeah Dorothy Mantooth is a saint he's just doing that performance in this movie. As a child a divorce , I do love the first dad, second dad dynamic . Can we talk about this choice in this scene? Yeah, because obviously Travolta's character is not thrilled about the idea of taking his son's stepfather on a three man boat tour. Yeah , is there any situation in which you and either your mom or dad and your step parent would have an experience like that? Because that would be very unlikely for me as a child of domestic we've talked about divorce in the past, my situation was a little unusual because my parents would get together if like for my birth, they were pretty friendly. Okay . With that said, my dad and my stepped dad and myself never would have gone out and done . I'd never do a sock s game. Yeah, there's some sort of line that I think there's a missing element to this scene where it's like Travolta should have like been taking some rough waves and bouncing him around a little bit and like what? I don't know. I mean, it's just, it's choppy out here today. Or the other thing because what this, I mean, this movie misses so many things that would have been good. We almost needed a creative committee . But like, ultimately like you're the first ad and this new guy comes in he's, a swinging dick. He's taller than you, like he's younger than you. He's more successful than you. Like there's places that could go where Travolta even on the boat like they should have made Vince Vaughan like , oh, this guy's actually amazing on boats and Travolta's doing something wrong and said let me let me step in here . Travolta and he's just better at him . Yeah, yeah. And it's just they didn't hit that for some reason. I think part of the issue is that Rick Jack, you know, just a vaughan character. Rick Jack. I just don't get I don't get anything about him. Like I don't, understand who he really is in any way. What were his investments? The movie doesn't explain like the crimes that he did, where he comes from. Is he like a scumbag? Is he a guy who got caught up in a problematic situation and then it drove him crazy and it made him violent racketering charge racketeering charge , but he skated took all the money. These guys did time and then Ray gets out. These guys did time but somehow didn't blow the whistle on him. And he was able to escape because this is early internet. Right. You could just change your name. Right . Yeah, and just like, is he malevolent or is he like forced to become more and more evil? Like it's a little it's just all of that evil at all. He just needed to get rid of Bushemi because they make this like he's a murderer. It's like well we only saw him murder one person. Yeah, but then he's got his forearm braced against a fourteen year old in a bedroom and you're like, well maybe this guy's kind of a psychic dream . That's the thing. They needed like two more murders with him. Yeah. Like he needed to also kill the prostitute and yeah, you know, we needed to ramp it up. The motel manager. The motel manager should have diarrhea in the head . The wedding , the moment Buchemi shows up is Grubby takes off. So good. I'm giving him the Todd Parker award for best character entrance. No. Another hysterical vaugh moment where he's like, thanks for dressing up . That felt so improv too. And Chevalta is like Chivolta, who's both the dumbest guy in the world, but is also like incredibly astute, like immediately sniffs out like huh, this guy what's going on here goes to talk to him I could have spent more time at the wedding. Honestly I would have loved to have seen the best man speech I see what another missed opportunity. He should ask Danny to be the best man and Dani could have given like a super awkward best man speech like I just stuff isn't hard. Scott Rosenberg, what are you doing on set? Getting in barflight s true apparently true. He was traumatized. The baseball catch scene, did Vince win the Mitch Kramer Award for Worst Athletic? He does. That's disappointing. That's really disappointing. Why is he throwing it like this? Because he's not bad in wedding crashers playing football. You know, he's pretty good. Yeah. I mean, he's a big guy. He looks like an athlete. Well, he was maybe he was Jamie O'Haren Rudy. He was taken like a bunch of miles per hour off 'cause he didn't want to hurt the kid. The release point is real weird. Yeah. I wonder if wide is really odd.. I don't care about that My guy having catch with a twelve year old, like, you have to like adjust your front. Look at you. You got his back. Yeah, Westman Tooth . No, there's two options. One here too. Cornell is a seam Jack Barnett. Is he Jack Barnes? Rick? Rick Barnes. Rick Barbarnes . She think they were just like, I love you T. R. Barney used to go trick. G far in the tournament, but man, you always qu alifies . Well, there's two choices here because I find it hard to believe Vince Vancou can't throw a baseball. One is that he threw his arm out in the baseball catch scene and like had a sore arm and you have a sore arm you got to start throwing sideways. Okay. The other is barfight. Maybe was had a fucked up shot . Maybe could be. So I'd love to ask him. It would be the first question if Vince Baunt ever came on the pod would be like, Hey, thanks for cooking up . It's the best a disturbance. What happened with the throwing? Something's up because she definitely has a better throwing motion. When they start doing the side, that either means they have a torn rotator cuff or they don't know throw baseball. I'll tell you what their performance in the scene is riveting. It's like the best scene in the movie. I could have watched five more bits of fit. And then Danny just whips the ball through the window. It's like, is Danny a psycho ? What's that? No, I mean, Vince Blood was just basically like clean cle,an this shit up.. I'm not playing it anymore Like he throws his glove at him. Yeah . Both gloves. By the way is awesome. Have you guys level ? This scene is great. Both gloves look like they were purchased that day. Like there is just nowhere on either of them. Yeah, the blood's not broken in yeah . If your dad's such an athlete, why don't he teach you how to throw a ball, Dan? Who's your dad's kill ONE? I'm going over here, I'm going over there 's 'cause he's just doing Vince Mon. It's the only time in the movie where he's really cooking like that. I wish he had done five more scenes like that. They're making him dinner. He's like, I don't know, I thought a cheeseburger was supposed to be red. You think I'm Travolta Travolta runs into Buschmi at the coffee shop unbelievable into Vaughn Going to see Buschmi I forget who he says this to, but I wrote it down when Buschemi says, You know what I'm noticing? Haven't seen any adult bookstores around here He says it's terrible like what is that? He's basically doing his fargo character. No kidding. Kid you not kid you not . He definitely probably got overpaid to be in this movie. Sure. He's still hot off. I'm fucking paid for it though. I mean, you're three minutes giving this back But he honestly brings the absolute best to Bucheti. That leads me to the next my next favorite scene, which is Ray Watching hoops with a hook And he's just like , when he finds out he's gonna get paid, he just slaps her in and then he fucking turns on the DePaul game and he's like, what did I miss ? Which like it was off. How did she 's expecting her to catch him up on what happened in the game. She's like, Steven Hunter just added three in the screen. Oh man. This section of the movie Awesome. Danny sneaks into the car who she gets stabbed . Is it a screwdriver? Ice pick. Ice pick. Yeah , wow. The rare non blood stabbing . Yeah. Through the leather jacket must have absorbed a lot of the blood and then all of a sudden we have an incinerator because the Southport Brickworks has just an awesome incinerator going all the time killed huge just going. The death is staged well where Bercheti sees the kid and gets stabbed in the way it's shot. It's not bad. I agree. Yeah. There are moments in the movie where you can feel like a lot of real craftspeople, very similar to the conversation about the good son where you're like a lot of over qualified like fifty five year old Yoman Hollywood people making this movie , but the editing is where you can feel it getting diced up. But that sequence is cool. Basically, the movie is kind of working , I would say, all the way up to the murder. Yeah . And then as soon as the investigation starts, you start to be like, What the fuck? Yeah, that's where you really feel when the cops come in, basically, you're just like, oh, this is stupid now. So there's a DVD with deleted scenes and I didn't realize that till yesterday I was, like going to speed order it and we're going to get it to Wednesday. So then my wife was at the grove yesterday and I'm like true story. I was like, Hey, can you go to the Barnes and Noble and go to the DVD section and get me domestic disturbance. I was like, It's domestic disturbance two thousand one with John Travolta . And she texted me and she said, They don't have it. Well, I'm happy to share with you after the fact that I own it on Blue Ray. And did you watch any deleted stuff? I watched the commentary with Harold Becker. Oh, which was apparently terrible is a disaster. He was frequently like, wait, did you do this? Did you watch the Nicks then domestic disturbance Excuse me, I watched domestic disturbance in the afternoon, watched the Nix game, then went downstairs, put on the domestic disturbance commentary, and started doing notes for the pod . And I'm like listening to it while I'm taking notes. And this is Harold Becker's performance . He's like, oh yeah, here we see these beautiful boats down in Wilmington. Really proud of this. I really like these credits that we made for this film, you know, great credit maker his name's Michael Hogarth. He's a wonderful guy. And oh yeah, here we see John Travolta. Really interesting scene here. Like what just completely has no idea that his movie is a fiasco. Like has no idea that there's been like a bar fight. Like there's there's no acknowledgement of any of that stuff. It's one of those commentaries too where like long stretches of the commentary are just scenes from the movie with no one talking over it. So. Yeah it's like he recorded for likety eight minutes of content on a seventy nine minute movie. Very bad. I went and found the DVD, where they have those like big reviews where they even review like the deleted scenes and stuff because I really wanted to find out what was in the deleted scenes. Like this was an hour and a half of my day yesterday. It's like, I got to find out what they cut out. I couldn't find it out, but somebody reviewed this and they said the same thing about Becker was like, The commentary is bad There's long stretches where Harold doesn't say anything. Yes. And then the deleted scenes, I guess, were probably deleted for a reason for the most part. But it's weird. We just never know. I mean, like you listed his movies, like he's made some really good movies. His movies, you know, Onionfield is a legitimately great movie. Yeah . I really like the Black Marble one of his first movies. He's made some really cool stuff over Quest Vision Quest, Wonder Watchable. Top twelve. Taps in love . Taps is like that. Taps is great. We were producing when we did Vision Quest. Of course , the movie's fantastic. Yeah, the lap pull down scene. One of the greater solo performances. Yeah, it was great on that one. So yeah, it's kind of disappointing. He's like losing the fastball in real time . Too bad. Well , evil Vince going into Danny's room . The old locked one door didn't lock the other door check and lock oneed of my two bedroom doors , what a morator this kid was. It is the first from hell scene though. Yeah, in the movie where you're like, oh, it's not just that he had to murder his co conspirator in a racketeering scam, he's actually now menacing this young boy. One of my favorite scenes of the movie and also probably the funniest scene in the movie. Frank punches a guy outside of the school. It's just the best gets in the car. That guy has not been in the film before he's no longer and the way that like he knocks him down and he fucking square punches him in the face outside of his school and the way the scene ends is Jerry Pull going sorry Mike No that it goes to him in the car and they're driving away and the sun goesad, D that was, cool. And Travolt goaes, Danny, don't you realize from what I've just done? It's called kidnapping. Yeah . And it's like, how do they, how did this stand the movie? The cops care about them. They're like, oh, we got a punch throw it outside of the school. Yeah, shut down the road s . You know what I've just done? It's called kidnapping. What an amazing movie this is. The Boathouse Fire , the mom realizing Rick is a bad guy . And then I like the I like the wallet scen the wallet Rick realizes that Danny took his wallet and he's just like, you're a little fucking liar, aren't you, Danny? Well, we skipped over Danny's betrayal of his father on the witness stand. Oh yes. An absolute nightmare. One of the most nightmare sequences in movie history. How fucking dare he? Yeah, I don't know what if Ben did that, I don't know if I'm bouncing back. Can I have twenty dollars? Ben's gonna die dad's like a murder if you just saw a murder. He's like, I'm gonna kill your dad next . I don't know, man. It couldn't be me. I would never turn away my daddy Eber wrote about the final confrontation , the speech that Vince does . This speech provides additional information that is desperately unwanted in a way that inspires only bad laughs from the audience , just when you want to end the movie without any more stumbles . It's really bad. It's all confined in a garage for some reason . Yeah. Where does it? I mean, it feels like an eighties cannon movie where it's like it's just so awful. The action staging. Well, there's actually it's kind of funny because there's no storytelling that suggests there would be a better ending. Like we don't know anything about this guy. So it's not like, oh, of course he died doing this, which was always his fatal flaw. It's like he had a fucking electrical box with a what is a wrench? Yeah. Crowbar? Yeah, would you even die from that? I don't even know. Let's find out. I mean, the crowbar is literally resting on top of the fuse box. It's not even though it is like pierced into the wiring or anything. This is one of the many reasons I love this movie though. They spend seventy five million dollars on it and the last twenty minutes just becomes a lifetime TV movie being filmed in Winnipeg. Yeah , where they're just like we figured it out. We can film every scene in one day you get everybody out of here but it does have the Netflix like modern true crime thing that you love though where it's like my stepfather is beloved by the Chamber of Commerce but not by me. What do you have for most rewatching? Catch , plain catch . Catch is pretty is probably my pick. I do like the kill scene, like Craig said, I like the killing kills really good. I like the incinerator. I like Danny trying to figure out how to get out of the car . Somehow the car light not going on in the car when you open the door, first car in the last thirty years that usually the light card goes on. Most two thousand one thing about this movie, I had either MSN news searches or just easily being able to change your identity with no repercussions. Yeah. I don't think you could do that. Low loading websites on probably dial up internet or hardwired Internet and also just like casual Shiquil O'Neill references. Oh, good one. Yeah, who would that be? Who am I Victor Mumidama? That's what he would saying too soon, Bill. Sorry Shaw. I also had Steve Bushemi as a dirtbag criminal stealing the movie . That's just in that zone . That was what he did. Probably not even in his top ten of dirtbag criminals stealing the movie. Flood Gondolli, butter on my ass, lolly pops my mouth award for something I just enjoy. I have a good run for this. I just have Vince Vaughan bullying children, but I also agree with Sean that Steve Steve Busheemy playing a dirt bag is just I watch'll. Always works . I wrote I love when John Travolta tries to get mean in movies. Yeah, you know, where he's like, if you touch a hair on my son's head, you know, he's trying to do like Mel Gibson and Ransom, but he just does not have that gear at all. Yeah . I have this is really special to me. When a hooker complains to our hero that the bad guy liked watching TV more than he liked getting laid It's like a bucket it's character development crossed with some sort of weird complaint that this guy is such a psycho. It's kind of like the reverse of Bulldorum when Duke is like, we didn't fuck man, we should just read poetry all right . But it feels like a direct sequel to the scene in Fargo when they take the two prostitutes back to the motel room and then they have that cut to them watching Jay Leno or whatever later on. That was Gance. Yeah , the lady says that you like shooting cops a whole lot more than he likes getting laid. Yeah , here's my defense of these guys in these movies. I would argue they do like getting laid because they're paying for a prostitute. And it's probably like it a little bit. Girlfriend experiences take part in my rituals, you know, like share my passions, my hobbies. Yeah. I love hoops. Tell us what you do . Like sorry prostitutes. These guys have simple, they're simple dudes. He likes college basketball, getting laid. Racketeering. Can those are three things. Can we talk about Ray's plan though? Yeah, what was Ray's plan? To get paid off to go away. But Ray's, like, here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna show up in town and I'm going to get a motel room, and I'm going to wait around as long as possible, and make him uncomfortable without actually doing anything. But I've been told by Rick Jack, that I am not allowed to go out into in public in the town and get some eggs, like that is well, the problem is, you know, we got we got Frank snooping around. So he's like, you cannot be in town. People are going to start asking questions and you're too candid. You know, like you're too unrefined for this place. But Ray actually thinks that he's just gonna get paid off by Rick Jack and it's just gonna work. He spent a lot of time inside, you know? Maybe he doesn't his reflexes are dulled. Do you have a Floyd Gondae from this movie or no? Oh , um Gondoli. Probably just Gondali. It's probably dirt bag behemi. I did feel like I got a little sequel to Fargo for ten minutes. That was really enjoyable. It's nice. Needed storm ar . Storm air . Peter Storm air. What stage the best ? The comedy of cinnamon sinister Vince Vaughn , Travolta, and then just what an absolute shitty son Danny is. Danny sucks. Terrible . I mean, admittedly bad age for little boys. twelve, thirteen . Good y. Good actor. Matt O'Leary, really good. But just kind of sucks and turns on his dad at one point and I don't know, I felt like he could have defended his mom better at the end. It seemed like a pretty good sailor. Yeah, solid sailor like just dumped his basketball team at the start of the movie. It's like, where's Danny? I don't know. Oh, he was doing a weird his stowa fetish again. Huge sports like climbing in the cars. Incredible sports movie. Yeah Travolta punching a meddling paradise the baseball catch . I wrote down last stand for hairlines for Travolta and Vince. Sure . Travolta's got, it's all the way back on the side The remnants of this up front with a little bit mullet in the back . It's the remnants of the Vince and Vega, right? Yeah, yeah. He's about to go into Tupe Land and then Vince really going back, but Vince has a full head of hair like do you think they should have made more Travolta and Bishemi in a diner as an echo of pulp fiction when Bishemi's Travolta's waiter. No question. Yeah. I would have just told them that Harold Becker was like ask for a vanilla page eighty two at that point. What do you have for what stage the best? Anything? This ending Vince Vones' career as a dramatic star. You think that's ageed the best? Yeah. Yeah, I think that's a good answer. Yeah. Because it's off a great run. Right . Anything? I had a Bishemi playing needle dick low level hood who likes prostitutes and a pretty straightforward old school likable travolta performance , which you don't get a lot after this. I had a scumbag character nsamed Ray. Yeah, it's a great name for Israe the best scumbag name ? Is there a better one? I mean, Ray definitely his nickname is slick, you know? Like it is like there's no there's no hero of a movie named R ay that I can think of. It's usually like oh like what was that that show we liked with Kyle Chandler ? Bloodline? Uhhuh. Was that what it's called? No bloodline? Bloodloodline. Yeah,. Yeah yeah. Was the scumbag brother was his name Ray? I think could have been. Yes. Yeah. And it's like my brother Rays back at town. It's like, oh boy, buckle up. The two good rays , Ray Charles, Ray Allen and Ray fromield the of f Dreams. Ray Cansella.. Yeah Ray Romano . But I mean like a character name. That's right. He's Ray Baron. That's Raymond. That show. All right. But he goes by Ray. He does . I thought everybody loved Raymond . Funny people. Underrated dirt bag name in movies is Dennis . There's always like a Dennis ion of a Dennis pag. Yeah , yeah. You're really good across a lot of Dennis's these days. No . What are they dirt bag names? I think Ray I know right away. Frank Frank could go either way though. Like Frank's the good guy in this movie. Yeah, but barely . Ray, I'm pretty sure you're a fuck up. Well, there's always like the last name versions of it too , like Hutch or Slater like, oh, this guy 's on the wrong side of the law . Great shack order award. It's got to be Bishemi getting stabbed, right? I had rich shadow emerging on Danny's wall after he closes the door. Oh, but this is not exactly north by Northwest. I had kind of an inverted great shotgur because it's the worst shot in the movie, but it's like there's a hold on the crowbar resting on top of the fuse box. It's like and it's one of those fake elect rocuting himself. That's worse shot Gordon. Fucking no cell that electrocution just like at that point he just wants to get out of North Carolina before Nano's coming after let me get out of here. Chess Rockwell, Brock Landers and her best character named Rick Barnes. Absolutely. Her has to be right. Yeah. I think he's probably coaching Providence around that. I don't know if he's at Texas yet. No. Oh five, or in zero one? one. He's in Texas. Yeah. When you go to Texas . He's in Texas in the nineties. Yeah. Is he? He goes to Texas, UT and now he's where he's in Tennessee now. Tennessee. He's Providence initially. Rick Barnes was a Providence. Yeah, wasn't he? Was he got sham Gods co'ach? That was his first I thought Patino was at Providence See, now we're going to have to look this up. Texas ninety eight to twenty fifteen and then Tennessee since. And he was at Providence eighty eight to ' ninety four. There you go. Okay. When was Patino in Providence? Earlier. Okay . A category we brought back that I don't know why it ever went away, but could this movie have had a better title ? Domestic disturbance is an awful title. There's a very domestic disturbance in this movie. Very bad. Yeah. Really awful . Not my father . Well, the stepfather's taken. Step murderer . That's pretty what about Southport? So I wrote the Southport lie. Yeah. Southport lie. Yeah, I love when you put the town in the title and then you like, but whose lie is it? Was it Danny's lie? Was it Rick Jack 's lie? Southport lie. What about the boatyard? That's good too. I like that. What about for Netflix, it would be, this is my family . Pulling the Rick Jack's story. Vincent Vaughn would like a scary look at his face. I just read the boy who cried Wolf. I feel like that would have worked . Which one do you like out of those? What about joint custody? Oh that's not that great I love that. But that immediately calls to mind like divorced parents who still share custody of a marijuana farm. Oh sure. You know? Yeah. And it's like that's like a pineapple express. Yeah. It's great. Yeah, it's very Trvolta and Vaughan in joint custody yet. Sierra Bufflex. I feel bad because this is so easy, but the Sarah Connor award for Wood Modern Technology ruined this movie. And you were asking why from Hell goes away and I do think it's because of surveillance technology and smart phones and high speed internet and search engines. Yeah, there's cameras at the Southport Brickyard. Yeah , yeah. And also just like they would look up Rick Rick Frank, what's his name? Rick Jack. Rick Jacks, they would like be like, does he have any social media and it would have started three months ago? Yeah, yeah. I'm finding him on Blue Sky . This guy was really fired up for the caucus. He really likes Mir Z. Butcher's Girlfriend Award Big Link in the film . It's really the last fifteen minutes, but especially the garage fight ending. It's just such a strange choice . Do you have outdoors ? You've all these things you could have done gone downtown. Like I don't know why you want to be confined to a weird garage. They blow the load with a boat yard fire like a boat fire earlier and then they're stuck doing this very small set piece at the end. And then the electrocution is just really singularly terrible. It's bad. No disrespect I had Frank's new girlfriend . Yeah. Diane? Yeah. I just think that that could have been like three percent more interesting and it would have helped the movie out. Michelle Feifer, who do you think? Emily Wattson . Young Kaywin's living. Isn't it Amber Theseon? Yeah , either one of it worse than a Freck's relationship . What stage the worst? I gotta say this off top . Susan's miscarriage and the way it's treated where they're like, hey, sorry you miscarried and then the movie ends . I guess this will eliminates a very complicated Oh yeah like after effect of like the father of this baby is dead , but it is like, hey, sorry about that. You get once you head over to the hospital, get that checked out. That could have been a way to do the sequel. Is that make it make it a Damien ? You know the hospital. They got to clean that up. STEP Murderer two, son of Rich . I had murderer. Yeah . I had that multiple nip picks about that , including how would they know she lost the baby within two minutes of the garage fight? Like pretty sure they have to run the about the last fight. There's no gram at all. When the fucking detective comes up to apologize to Frankie's like, hey, say it to my son . Detective by the way. I'm sorry, but I fuckin' say it to you, huh? Detective's like, I'm sorry, Frank does it go. I've lost my entire business . Yeah My wife's husband's dead and everything's burned down. I had this desperately needed to be a Raider Rovie. Yeah, I needed more off bombs. Yeah . I needed two sex scenes. I think you have to have the vaughan Terry Polo hearing her like groaning and the Danny being like really disturbed by hearing his mom , you know, in five rooms over. Yes. And then Vince coming out being like, Hey, Danny, just getting some lemonade and like having that. And then you have to see Bashemi with the hooker. You just have to. Can we just go back to lemonade for a second? Is that like your preference? I don't know how to get the butt sugar goes And the Buchetmi murder could have been way better. Yeah , yeah. I feel like also Ford's Age worse, just him getting stabbed in general on the set is like, that sucks. That's horrible. Yeah. 'Cause it's funny. It's like, he does, it's not funny, but he does like three or four movies a year all the way around this movie and in zero four he just does one , which kind of means he had shot like what he shot and then it all came out, but like he had basically taken a couple years old. goes Well, on he the surp tor anos. Oh that's right. He goes on the sopranos. So he spends a lot of time doing that. Season five Sopranos, the best favorite Sopranos. It's amazing season. Tony Blendetto. I have for what stage the worst the police sergeant as well who also gets a Vincent Chase award for I was sure this character was good at his I also had him for overacting. This is Ruben Santiago Hudson who just got nominated for a Tony. So he's like very accomplished actor a lot of work but when he's like he's terrible in this movie. What does he say ? He was like , I'm not wasting any more time or money on this sick kid's bullshit story . Like that is like nobody understands why he's so mad at Dan iel sick kid For Age the Worst, also just any Jonathan D Crane's a producer of this movie. He was Travolta's manager from seventy eight or from maybe nineteen eighty eight through two thousand four. Any movie that he's listed as a producer is a not e trying to like Vengali type yeah The mom stuff she's just such a stupid character. I can't believe they didn't fix any of it. She's one of the dumbest charac ters in the From Hell movies . This movie claims it's in Maryland, but it's entirely shot in North Carolina. And I don't know why they didn't just say it was in North Carolina . What was the point of being like, oh, the B coerlastin is something like why? The only sort of sign of it is when he gives them a cow rickin glove, but otherwise it doesn't feel like the chest weird . This is my favorite though. There's a GQ interview with Robolta and he said he had an idea for an extra step in the end where after Vince Vaughn was electrocuted, he played dead for a few seconds, then bolted up, now much stronger from the electricity and they had a second fight. But then he said that idea was scrapped. That's too bad. It would have been better in the like ridiculous horror movie trope way than back up. Yeah, yeah, you know, like Michael Myers or something. Finn Fong's like Ponzruber. Yeah, Finn' m out. Give me my plane's out here tomorrow. Hans Gruber scale villain ranking, Vince is like a three point five. Yeah, it's like, I'm barely I'm kind of rooting for him, honestly. Yeah . Roughlohana Rubidic partridge overacting, we're giving it to the ser geant. And then Sean, you have a flex. I mean, it's the same as we were seeing before the Saracana award for what modern technology were in this movie. I just like reverse image search alone on a photo of Rick just ends this whole thing. We have to just like one piece of police work Yeah, who was Ray this guy's having eggs in town? He's clearly a person who's spending time there and they just disappears. They're not looking into this. That's another scene that's missing where after the sergeant shoes shoes everyone away and it's like this kid why does he keep making? I'm tired of wasting money for him not having like the young female cop or somebody be like, Sergeant I gotta ask like why would that kid make up a story that elaborate? Like they doesn't make you throw. It's also like isn't there something about this Rick Barnes? Trump. It would have been like it seems like Danny probably would've seen Ray at the wedding as well, right? Yeah. Susan would have seen Ray when like he's introduced to her. Then Travolta sees Rey a couple days after the wedding and he's like, I'm thinking about buying real estate here. Yeah. So it's not like everybody's like, who's Ray, this is a ghost. The kid made him up. Right. It's really strange . I watched my daughter, I've watched this movie twice in the last month, including the first time with my daughter when she was home in the month of May, and she loved this movie because she loves off from hell movies and she loves Turn Your Brain Off movies and this is a good turn your brain off movie, but that's like a classic turn your brain off section where it's like, wait, what? Yeah, but you just like just don't even think of it. This is the entirety of Apple's Cape Fear right now. Yeah. One more break, and then we got hot a stake. You thought this was your run club era. Turns out, it was more of a thinking about run club era. The good news? Someone's marathon training is about to start . If this movie is about Steve Buchemi's character hunting down Vince's and that the tension is that Vince is trying to start a new life and Ray is getting in the way of that . It's like a really, really cool odds crime movie. And it's like they really had like an original criminal trying to turn a new leaf getting hunted down by his past . Would have been awesome? Imagine five more Buchemy and Vaughn scenes , but instead we got Danny in the boat This is sort of related to that in terms of how they misframe the movie, but Danny is the villain of the movie and he should be in prison for betraying his father publicly . And was kind of a deranged kid. Had some problems, yeah. Yeah. Divorce, you know? Well, he really like climbing the cars. Like there's some stowway thing they mentioned in the beginning and they were like, yeah, he did that stowway thing again. It's like so he's just climbing into the back seats of cars and he's acting out because his parents got divorced, right? Yeah. Like these are like weird runway things . Yeah, I think Dani's probably yeah , I had Travoltaa andu Bghn Switch parts better, movie. That's my casting what if the only thing I had. Oh, interesting. I think you're right. I just think it's better. I think it's funnier because this movie was always meant to be an unintentional comedy classic anyway. I think Travolta trying to be the bad big swing of Dick, bad guy and Von being like the younger guy. Got some Chicago mob Tay guys Von and Terry Polo got married when they were like nineteen it didn't work sense. Yeah , which guy You just want to work on both but he's a nice guy. They're like a little too far apart in age. They're almost twenty years apart Vaughan and Travolta. You can it feels a little weird. Well it's also like why are Travolta and Polo married? Doesn't really they're at least fifteen years old. And how old is she supposed to really like this kid's twelve? She's pregnant. She's in their body. She's supposed to be like mid thirties. But in meet the parents, she's in mid twenties and that comes out a year earlier. Yeah. Yeah, it's weird. It's off cast and winners couldn't find any best that guy award two really good ones. Chris Ellis and Ruben Santiago Hudson, right? Who's Chris Ellis? He's the other cop who's like always in NASA's control sound s. I deep diver. Okay. Travolta's girlfriend played Beecher's girlfriend on us. We saw her. She sure did. The judge in the custody trial hearing , the evil jury foreman from a time to kill . Oh that guy . Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he's a good guy. Yeah, you see his face and you just think about the KKK and bad trials in the south. This movie has a similar energy as a time to kill where you're just like, what They're going for the KKK, you know, like an hour into the movie. You're like, they're gonna lose. Dian Wneaiter's word, it's Brushemi, right? Absolutely. Did you make a case for the hooker? No. Patty? Yeah, Patti. We're just passing time. Yeah Watching some depulse. That whole thing with the lighter for it's like twenty twenty five bucks . Recasting couch director of City, I'm gonna give you three choices as the sergeant . Okay . The cultural fun , fifty cent , like just trying to go. Of get Richard Dietrich. Yeah, yeah, it's just like, I'm trying to do movies now. I'm the sergeant of the best disturbing. I'm sure he screams Maryland police lieutenant. Okay. Is Get Rich zero one when does it come out? I think it is. Yeah . Phillip Michael Thomas? Sure. Okay . Yeah, okay. Little comeback for him. Older. He's been around doing little rico tubs. I was thinking Ernie Hudson . Ernie Hudson? Yeah . Lawrence Fishburne. We've already spent seventy five million. Let's go eighty. A little overqualified. Let's go eighty. We already spent seventy five. Yeah, sure. What's he doing in two thousand one? What is it? Cover post major, it's post major post matrix. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. And starting a couple years. How are you gonna follow up the Matrix? Well, playing the eighth lead in domestic disturbance. Terror Warmington. They're going to yell at a terrorist hour boy. that could work I think I like Philip Michael Thomas the most. Craig, you have a flex ? Dorfloors door award. How much did that hurt? People take some shots to the head in this movie. Travolta goes through a car door window in the flash scene. Yeah, crowbar to the back of the head and his boat shop. Vince Vaughan takes a baseball bat to the skull and is just up and at him like a minute later, but swung by a thirteen year old. I mean still battle it wasn't. Terry polo head first into a cabinet. That's right. There's a brutal stretch of fifteen minutes of head trauma. Violent film CT . Everyone has CT at the end. But fortunately, Vince W wasan killed, so we don't have to worry about the after effects of that baseball bat wound. Also as somebody who's been electrocuted, he wouldn't have died that quickly. You've been electric electrocuted? Yes. How? One of my last two weeks of college, I worked at the film house, like the rental house. We'd rent out equipment to film students . And they brought back one of the big stage lights, and there was clearly some faulty wire that happened while they were filming. We had to check all of them before they came back to make sure they were okay before we put them away and like logged them. And something was wrong. I plugged it in, turned on the light, was holding it. It's a metal light , got all executed for like from what I was told ten to fifteen seconds. Wow. Did you pass out? No. Somebody saw what was going on unplugg toed the light, but it was like sparking. I don't really have a strong memory of it. I don't know how long it lasted, but I was like apparently like flexing all my muscles for like ten, fifteen seconds, like trying to make a sound, but you can't 'cause you're so constrained . Do you think Jesus that that is your superhero origin story ? That that made you like a gifted taste? That's how he was able to read the futures of tight ends for football season. That's right. Pits. I was like if, I die, somebody should eat me, and that's how I came up with the cannibalism use my skin and muscles for food. But he would have held on way long. It was like five seconds. He's not gonna die that quick. Like that. I didn't realize Craig was a great piece of crag. Electrocution expert. Craig. Who are back? Were you actually like five, seven, one hundred and ten pounds? That's why that happened . Yeah, it was weirdly fine. Like he's like walking in the trivial psychic. Yeah, yeah. He's gonna have a cup of coffee. It was your dead zone moment. Half accelerate research. The only one I could find that was interesting was Travolta flew himself in and out of Wilmington during the shoots. Can I ask what do you guys think Travolta's relationship to the bar fight story is? Like, do you think they asked him to go out with them? And he was like, No, no, guys, that's okay. There's no way he was going out with those guys. Do you think it then became like a you don't know what we've been through kind of divisive thing on yet? Like no movie I don't think even drawn close though . Is there any way you could find out maybe I could. Apex mountain, Travolta No, Vaughn No, Bushemi No, Terry Polo No , Divorce movies No , evil stepdad movies no wooden boat company movies? Sure. How many wooden boat plots have we had? Well, I mean, there are a lot of movies about yachting that are better than this and those are all wooden boats, aren't they? Did this make you want to get a wooden boat someday, Sierra? Nah, no, no I gotta look this up. What? Just movies about boat makers , you know? Just like there's gotta be a better like a Robert Bristol movie calledat The Bo Baker. Yeah Maryland Coast, definitely not since it was filmed in North Carolina. Is this Apex Mountain for the cinematic depiction of the DePaul men's college basketball program? This was if he's watching the two thousand two thousand one team, it's Bobby Simmons and Stephen Hunter. Oh, they weren't bad. Yeah, but you know, they had three pros on that team. You use Apex Mountain for that being depicted. Yeah, but I mean, DePaul is definitely the eighties the Markuire Raymeir. But I'm just saying like being depicted on it's just a weird bit that he's like, I'm really into I'm from But I have to bang home that he's from Chicago. So you have to doa aul p because you have no other Chicago playing Maryland. Why would that game be on in Maryland? Well a good question. There's some speculation about why is it on at all because it's the middle of the fall. Oh yeah. I had that ball on. It's it's october eighteenth, he dies. There's no college basket ball yet . It's not fun. A little sketchy. However, backers like yeah, whatever. Nobody will notice this. Many the sports are . Huge embarrassing bar fights during a filming. I think this was Apex Mountainside. Well, there's probably like a ton from the forties where like John Wayne split a guy's head open. I was gonna say there's got to be some sort of Oliver Reed Richard Harris story where those guys are, you know, Dean Martin killed a guy? Yeah, Robert Shaw , those guys are getting into some trouble. It's a fair point. Oliver Reeder, Richard Harris probably had a worse one where they fought ten guys and then shit on one of them. Peter O'Toole fell down a staircase. Bunch of those guys the British guys used to drink in my grandfather's pubs back in England. Yeah He would have like, he'd won in Camden. He had one in like the Knightsbridge area back in like the forties or fifties or whatever. And they used to get hammered there. That'd be a good movie. He's like, they were but they were like Olympic like blackout drivers Yeah, two bottles of whiskey in yeah just straight in and there's like a legacy with it too like when you're a young up and comer you're like, this is how it's got to go Yeah , I I've' gotve got to get black out drunk that's part of took that mantle for a while. Yeah. Yeah, that's Carl Newman thing, right? Drink drink like a case of beer every day . Best, we had to replace Scorsese S orpielberg because we've had Spielberg we can't do that anymore because why? Because we had Spielberg doing Scorsese or Spaffect to retire the champion. Should we have wow. Should we have a different pair of directors every episode or just a steady now it's Becker or Hansen. Yeah. Yeah. I was gonna say Becker or Kubrick . I've replaced it for this episode with best name for the movie for a race horse and it's either Southport or Ray Coleman . But I think a horse named Ray Coleman would have been pretty good. I think Rick Jack would have been good. I read Rick Jacks. I wrote Danny Lies. Danny Lies. Yeah. Here comes Danny Lies . Cruiser Hanks or Cruise End Hanks. Gotta be gotta be this first cruise and hanks that we had a cruise legitimate legitimately should be cruising hangs. Right? Hanks is the father cruise sister Cruises or would you go the other way? Hanks' going against type . I would enjoy that. I'd like to see it . It's definitely Cruz. Travolta is playing a cruise part. zero one is minority report for Cruz. What's Hanks doing in zero one? Is it cast way's ninety nine zero one cast away that's like two thousand and the wheels start to shift for Hanks a little bit. Cruz is still locked. He's in Vanilla sky, he's still cranking. He had a baseball seen at a cruise . That's true. And Hanks, you know, league of their own. Let's do it. That's right. I think maybe they can have catch with each other . Crank, it's interesting 'cause neither of them normally play the vaughn part . No. If you could only have one, who would you have? I would have cruise in the Traibalta Part . I would like to see a cruise in the vaugh is amazing. Like, I'm not trying to be your dad, but I'd like to be your friend . And the baseball suit would be huge. Picky knits , all the obvious dubs Did Foolin versus fuck? Do you think Rick put any effort into a new identity or did he just buy like a new kind of some new clothes? I think it's like demands an even bigger question. Like the plan so he is to pretend to be happy and marry a single mom and do public acts as a citizen and be happy at all. He says to her, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. But got away with it. Yeah, I think he thinks like I'm gonna, I've always wanted to get out of the grime and be a big man in society and what you need is money to do that and it's all working out. And he just like Terry Polo is a smoke show, so I'm super stoked. I mean, that's another one that I wanted to ask is like, how fat like, so when this movie starts, how long have they been divorced for? A year? Because they make it seem like the divorce just happened. I would say a year. She got pregnant pretty fast. How much time a little loose of this movie, maybe? How much time goes by during the film? It's unclear. Yeah. All of it's unclear. I thought a couple of days , but that would mean she was it's got to be more than that. But she was probably pregnant at the wedding. They get like a custody trial. It feels like September October. I don't think that this town has a big docket. They're probably just like, sure, custody we got nothing to do tomorrow . Rick changes his name and his life , but it's totally cool with having a newspaper wedding announcement with this picture. Oh yeah, I'm probably vetoing that if I'm Rick Barn. Not a good choice. I will say the choice of picking a name in which there is another prominent person with that name good Google is really smart . Yeah . So you'd recommend that. Yeah, you'd be like, My name is Humphrey Bogart. Do you think they should have had Rick with his old life when the newspaper then comes up like had a beard? Like something about him looked exactly the same. It's just like this is clearly him. The no blood in the car post stabbing was incredible. Southport brickworks just having no evidence at all anywhere. No fingerprints on the door , nothing in the incinerator. It's just all gone. There's not like one idea or anything. If Danny had just said at the trial, like, I stand by what I said . And also this man has threatened me since then and said he's going k toill my father if I say what I'm saying on the stand. At the worst, the cops would be like, we got to get Danny out of that house and we need to put you guys into protective code. Yeah, but we got at least figure this out for the next two weeks. How does Frank find Bet ty the hooker He's at her house all of a sudden? How? No, that's in the motel, isn't it? Was it? It seemed like an affair. Frank find I mean, I think he goes to her house. After going to the motel, Patty the hooker 'cause he's Patty or It's Patty and he sees the phone records . Right. He's like, who's this? And he's like, I love the girls. So the ladies. This guy's fucking Burnhal and our showdown is Wayne Jenkins fucking tracking people down I didn't know I was working with Sherlock Holmes . She's tracking people down but can't figure out Rick Barnes isn't Rick Barnes . How would they know immediately that she lost the baby is my favorite nip from this? And then Danny, I'm sorry . Thanks, Sergeant. I'm going to be suing the town now. Thanks for the apology that I'll now be talking about in the tri al because my boat house is gone that Southport chamber of commerce is going down. Yeah. Everything like Frank is basically on the town. This brings the town to its knees. Yes. Yeah, it's over. Anything else? From Pic Nkeyits Sequel prequel Prestige TV all black one more thing. Yeah, what's going on with the other two convicts? Are they still in prison? Those guys are those guys are out but they weren't sequel looking for Rick like why was I think they were probably like we can,'t find them. We're idiots. That's the sequel. Raise like I almost gave up and then you had a fucking wedding announcement. All I knew was you were on the east coast. That's DD two . DD two . Coming. Yeah, sometimes they come back twenty seven. Show up and just be like, look, like now it's your debt to Frank , you know? Yeah. And you got to make us boats for like getaway boats for bankrobby. Written drug boats I'm going all black cast for the next category. And they probably already made it and we just didn't know it happened. I would do prequel. I would do the racketeering storyline. Oh, Prisma. That was what I did too. I wanna see what they did. It's so vague. Chicago? Yeah. Turns in Chicago. You think we get Rondean in there? Yeah, let's get some palm at Amanda. Yeah. Davis. Yeah . Is this movie better with the Wayne Jenkins, Fergus the Flores, Zano, Robert Evans, doctor Charles Nichol s or someone else. You're a little fucking liar. Aren't you, Daddy? You're gonna do this for me. I'm gonna clip your nuts like I clipped your daddy's. He builds boats for me now . I was watching scene the other day . That's a perfect match. Such a good scene. The Florest the South Pow ell. You think you're the only guy in Charleston with a gun . I wanted Dr. Charles Nichols at the Chamber of Commerce Ceremony and then Hevard Frank there. You have to excuse my friend Frank. He is very not well . Just one Oscar who gets it We rarely do this, but this is a full fledged nobody . No Oscar standing out for this one . One of the worst performances for Apex Mountain and just one Oscar in show history. Yeah. Really, really that, you can't make a case for anything. Unanswerable questions. Did Travolta and Terry Polo get back together ? I don't think so . This was My Zwan Neo was another way to do a sequel in the movie is so Danny is traumatized for life by what happens obviously, but Susan and Travolta get back together . And then that drives Diane, Travolta's girlfriend crazy and then she goes out and seeks revenge in the sequence. The second DD two is Diane's revenge. Yeah. Yeah. That's where you really needed Tiffany and Brothers in instead of that action. She would have cooked. She was bringing some of the valory energy. Yeah, yeah, she's angry now. Um , Terry Polo inherits all of Jack Rick's fortune. I bet that they hadn't drawn up wills yet . They got married. Do you do that the day of? I mean, like it's buried. She inherits everything. So in a weird way it all worked out for everybody. They get back together. Police get involved with what the money. How that money got. He sued the town. He owns Southport . Owns like a big chunk of the city now 'cause they fucked up his boat house. Huge W for Travolta. Yeah, I think it's a big man. Except for his son being destroyed forever. Well, that was my other unanswerable. When does Danny kill his first prostitute? Is it Patty? I think Danny becomes a compulsive liar after this because he's like, it worked. Continues to be a compulsive liar. Continued to be a compulsive liar. And then Danny should become a detective and it should drive this sergeant guy crazy who's now the chief of police. He's like, I can't believe this little fucking liars my detective. We've really nicely shaped the domestic disturbance cinematic. I can't believe they make nine of these. Danny's hosting a fantasy football podcast for the Ringer Yeah, Danny's like me and Daniels were hanging out last night . He knows a thing or two about electrocution as well. Those are the qualifications. The memorability Beauvant for this movie, clearly the Rick Barnes Chamber of Commerce Award big black he got. Cal Ripkin glove. Oh, the glove would be good. I want one of those boats. The woodaboat. A handmade boat. Pretty flammable. Good point, fair. Coach Finstock, Mr. Mayagi, we're best worse life lesson. Believe your child ? Sure . You don't agree with that? Well, yeah, sure. I think that should my whole thing is if a story is that elaborate, you have my attention. Yeah. Yeah. It's not like I saw I saw Rick Killiguy. It's like, so we drove in, there's a thing. There was an incinerator . Like at some point, there's just too much When he's like on the stand and he's like, I actually got out in town and I just took off. It's like, well, how do you know about the incinerator then? And how do you know about all the details of this thing? Yeah . Best double feature choice. I have the stepfather . It's a tricky one because it makes them this movie look worse because the stepfather is better . Stepfather's good. I have be cool because you need to have a pallet cleanser of Travolta. Like you need to have a Travolta and Vaughan. Yeah, they're in it together. Not Battlefield Earth. No . Who won the movie? I think Vaughn did just because I just like watching Vince Vaughn. He's very volta. I really respected how hard he tried all throughout. I wrote Matt O'Eary, who's the only actor who's like actually giving you know performance points Sean, you know, kid performances are really up and down really kind of hinges on him. He's very good in the movie. It would be kind of amazing if Culkin was doing good son in this movie . Wow . And kind of came face to face with another killer . Oh, like two from hell characters beat. That would be cool as if you could start making like From Hell Crossover movies. Another cinematic universe idea. That sounds great. What'd you think , Craig? It's a great summer selection. I immediately knew I could watch this movie at noon on a Monday , which was great. I'm really racking up some classics here in From Home that I could talk to absolutely no one listening . Yeah, I honestly, most leaders were just kind of fascinated observing John Travolta in this movie like an extraterrestrial. And I kind of was just obsessed with his entire look in performance and everything about him. But what the circumference of his head his head is enormous. Triple his head . Scientologists don't drink, right ? Ooh, do they? I don't know. I don't believe so. Because his familiarity with the bud Light Can is, it seems like it's the first time he's hauled over. What do they call that Cruz would have that to? It's not Bud Light. Like, what does it say on it? I think it's supposed to be like Keystone or something like that or Naddy. Tremolo's really all over the place. He could really play up and down to his opponent. He's like Darnold. That's like you could win three games with him and he's the worst quarterback in the league take or he's like you could win a Super Bowl in the right system. True. Yeah, it's true. He's got the right coach. Both to say Darnold, one of Craig's best takes ? Yeah. When I was growing up I loved Get Shorty. I thought Get Shorty was the greatest movie. As a kid who was obsessed with movies. And in that movie, he's so fucking cool. He's so awesome cool . And you know, he's in his like late thirties, early forties in that movie. He's not a kid or anything. But it's like just a few years later where you're like, Has this guy ever been in a movie before? Right? He hit a stretch in the late nineties where it felt like he was one of the five biggest stars in the world again. Yeah . And he was , you know, Costner had started to lose some steam. Some of the guys from the nineties and eighties were losing steam and he was kind of the backup choice to Hanks for a lot of different roles. Well, there's that period where it feels like he and Nick Cage are the two biggest action stars in the world. Right, which was strange. It was fun when they were in the same movie together. Yeah, I love Giwalta. I like it when he's in bad movies . I like when he's in good movies. It's a General's daughter is the only time it goes sideways. He's singular. He's a singular . Do you like civil action? Yeah, I just rewatched it because we did a Robert Duval episode. Great Duval performance in that movie. It's not bad. It's a little stiff, but it's not bad. It's a it's very confusing similarly at the end of that movie, but that's similar that's kind of also at the end of his respectability. Well, we did this at a sequence, but the Good Sun, which we've already done is coming next week, and that's a much, much, much better movie. But from Helmut CR, it's just it's Heaven. Just bangers left and right . Turn your brain off, have some fun
