Called open question the week, Kaz. What's up, shoes? What's up, man? If you could've. I know I joked about the private jet. But if you could have attended one of the shows this weekend. Clash in Italy. Mm. the Noche de los Grandes. I mean, listen, if you want, I'll throw in Smackdown in Barcelona or Collision in Where were they? Huntsville? Huntsville, Alabama. Where wh wh what show would you have liked to be at the most? including travelling to that destination, being there, the whole thing. Gotta give me Huntsville, Alabama. There's nothing that All those places. You wanna go to the space museum, dude? Oh man, listen. There's No other place that I think of having a good time in my life. An experience. And that's the thing. Oh, maybe so. Isn't there a big space thing in Huntsville? Am I crazy? Oh no. But um Nah, you know what? El grande dos noches. uh seemed like it l it was it was the most lit sa most lit Proud to be at, man. I would But I love to fly that in Mexico. I've I've seen wrestling in Mexico. But I've never seen wrestling in Mexico, you know what I mean? Well, it would be hard to imagine you would have been able to top that. I mean. Yeah, that was great. One of the all one of the all time nights. I mean a nice free trip to Italy. Would be nice. Don't get me wrong. I would be tempted. I mean, come on. El Grande Americano versus El Grande Americano, how often does that? I'll definitely get around easier in Mexico than Italy too. My Italians only, yeah. But my Spanish I'll be it's definitely I definitely think I've Acquire the level of Spanglish that's like good enough to get around in the farm. Good enough to be the next Grande Americano? Oh gosh. You know they need a black one. I was hoping. I was hoping that was the next the next step. Yeah. Yeah. We need El Negro the Americano next. You should just start working indie shows under that name. All right, so total big question of the week, Dave. If you could Do Do what we did for Chad Gable and Louis Kaiser. Find somebody on the roster to be El Negro the Americano. A seldom used black wrestler to WWE That's gonna go put on a mask. Go to Mexico and be the biggest thing out there. Who do you pick? Um I mean I have a question for me. I have an immediate answer and I'm just trying to think if there's anybody that I'm that I'm missing. Um It would be Wouldn't Apollo Cruz be the easiest one for this? Is he still is he still employed? No, he's not employed. Of people that are currently on the roster, I think the right answer is Angelo Dawkins. Oh, really? Oh man. 'Cause he could do he would do great down there. And he's just like it's impossible to find a place where you plug him in and elevate his partner at the same time, you know? And he's so like and his voice is so distinct. Him trying to like speak Spanish would be hilarious all the time. Yeah, but yeah, so uh El Noche Del Grande You know I mean just it'd be hilarious to hear that spanglers come through. So I I can Him or R Truth. I think R Truth could pull it all. Yeah, well I mean our truth could obviously pull it off, but we're trying to make new stars, new superstars out of this whole thing. I agree. I agree. Um I almost feel like Javon Evans would be too good to be El Negro de Americano, but he already has his gimmick. What did we say? When he started out, what was his gimmick? We talked about it, we interviewed him, it was like Kid America or something like that. And it was just the and he was he was great at How long can he be? The fun young You know, TikTok? Gen Z gu, Gen Z Russler. Well I think they're already answering that question without a Lucha mask, but yeah. I totally agree. Anyway, we got a lot of wrestling to talk about from all over the world. Let's start the show. Welcome to the Mask Man Show with Kaz. We had a lot of pay-per-views. Well actually just two, but we also have a smackdown and a collision. But Night of Champions I mean sorry, not Knight of Champions, Clash in Italy was this weekend, Noche de uh Los Los Grandes was this weekend. There was a lot going on this weekend. But how you doing, buddy? I'm doing good shoes. Lots of wrestling. Lots of basketball. Lots of Fricking soccer, apparently. Everything's happening right. Mm-hmm. What do you um How much do you hate Victor Womenyama by this point? And you know yourself worked up? You know what's crazy, man? Like I kinda feel like this is a ethical NBA Finals. Like It's the teams that like played hard for the NBA Cup. They're both like, you know, the Spurs are like the most respected organization in the NBA. Like they kind of like, The Patriots of the NBA. Wemby's kind of brought this sort of level of passion to his team and to the MBA that's sort of been I don't wanna say missing, but you know. He's made it cool to care. Not to say other MBA players don't care, but you know, they care so I don't have one hating ball in my body in Victor Webinyama. If you If the one thing standing between you and a fifty some odd year uh NBA championship drought is literal Seven foot six French alien who does everything, then hey. That's just the way, you know, the cards you were dealt. Yeah no. Feel Better team will win this final. So that won't just be a Wendy was a If Forget about contracts and money. Could Wimby be as good a wrestler as he is a basketball player? I don't think that there's ever been a good wrestler taller than seven one. I think so. Well yeah. The streets would say he's more of an attraction than a than a than a wrestler, but I mean As fluid as somebody like that could be at that size, I don't know. Do you know anybody? Do you know anybody taller than seven feet that's had like a Beggar match in the past like thirty. Legit legit taller than seven feet? I mean, so it's basically like Great Kali and Giant Gonzales. I mean, I don't know who else. Who is the oh that's a great question. And I guess We could use Meltzer ratings or just whatever rating you you go with. Who's the best tall wrestler? Who's had the best match for a tall rest is the under I'm assuming this is the undertake. The undertaker's not he's not seven feet, but if you want to go there then yeah. Has there has there ever been a Has there ever been a great wrestling match with a seven footer? Like a truly great It depend I mean, I guess we gotta check that we we'll have to check the heights on some of these people. I guarantee there is like an attitude era match with Kane that was really good. Is he seven feet? I'm not sure if I but I don't think I've been next to Kane. Kane's like a good six nine, six ten. You know what I mean? I'm talking about it straight up. Come and that's the seven feet. That is a seven footer. You know what I mean? Like there's Other people that are seven footers. Who who We gotta find who's had the best. match for a seven footer in wrestling history. And if it's Baba. I was about to say Giant Hate. I was about to say giant haystacks, but I don't think he was seven feet tall. Giant Baba is probably the right answer. Giant Baba, yeah. Might be it. Might be it, but we'll see. So no, I don't think Wimby would be a great wrestler. Uh he would be a cool wrestler because he could definitely pull off Having like that that spot where you have like four submissions at once where you have like two guys on the arm bar. Two guys with like a half roasting crab. And it won't look like you're just like Trying to stretch for limbs. You got plenty of limb to go around, you know? So I think that could be cool, but as a wrestler. Big show not a seven footer or a seven footer? I think Big Show's a seven footer, if I'm not mistaken. I think he's listed as seven feet tall. At his at his height maximum. You know, before you know his his body started to give away. There's definitely a great big show match somewhere. Oh, I feel like I should know what it is. I mean listen Rock and the big show broke the ring. That count I mean, if that happened today, we would say it was the best match of the night. And and it probably was the best match of that night, whatever smackdown that was. But man. There was there's definitely some great big show matches out there. You know what I mean? Like I'm tripping. I just don't have them. you know, readily available o at the top of my head, but Omas, giant Gonzalez, great Kali. Bar's not that high. Yeah. Um Okay, Big Shows ten best matches ever. I wonder how many of these go back to W C W arrow like super athletic. All right, number 10, no way out of five, big show versus JBL. Wow, elimination chamber eleven. Uh, which she was in the the E C match. Uh, Hell in a Cell two thousand nine Jericho versus Bethista and Rey Mysterio. Okay, I'm I'm down with that one. Uh Big Show versus Brock Lesnar on SmackDown Two Thousand Three. Is that the that was the broken ring? Judgment Judgment Day, uh two thousand three, big show versus Brock Lesnar and a stretcher match. Uh Big Show versus Undertaker, No Mercy O eight. Are any of these ringing the bell? No way out two thousand nine. Why did Picture only work like off brand pay per views? Uh elimination chamber on that one too. Survivor Series Team W A B F versus Team Alliance. Okay, O four Royal Rumble. This is rough. Okay, Big Show versus Brock Big Show versus Brock Lesnar versus Kurt Angle. Vengeance two thousand three. That had to be good. There's no way that match wasn't good. Uh okay, gotcha. Is that number one? Okay, I'm gonna go watch that. Yeah, okay. But let's that might be the greatest match. We're way off subject. But if you would ask me A year ago. We're putting a person under a mask and it's gonna be two years ago, whatever it was. Uh and it and it's gonna be this ironic thing and everyone's gonna love it. Um, and ideally that person can speak English and Spanish. I would have said that Victor Wimbinama was a better choice than either Chad Gable. Or Or um Ludwig Kaiser. And boy would I have been wrong, because Ludwig Kaiser And um And Chad Gable, or rather El original Grande Americano and El Grande Americano went head to head. And uh El Noche de los Grandes. In one of just the most incredible matches. Top to bottom. I mean the whole presentation The entrances The crowd. The the the You know. the stuff with the with with the ring announcer slash girlfriend of O Grande Americano, all the all the little hubbub Um Everything was perfect, and these two guys gave us the best match, including a post match where Chad Gable functionally turned baby face. Um And they're right El Grande Americano. Got to gets to live on as El Grande Americano. I mean it was a it was a perfectly told story. What was your feeling coming away from that match? I thought it was the match of the year, man. Like I just And maybe we're all grading it on a curve because of those preconceived notions we've had with this gimmick. And it going from something that could have been really whack to something Genuinely great, like some genuinely great wrestling TV. Genuinely great wrestling storyline. And at the end of it all Great wrestlers. Like if you would have told me, you know, back in in NXT Black and Gold. You're gonna get a main event match featuring Creed Brothers, Chad Gable, Elizabeth Kaiser, Pete Dunn, Tyler Bate. And uh, you know, a cast of these guys from Triple A, you're you're gonna be all in on it. You know what I'm saying? If you told me that that match was gonna be main eventing in Mexico, I would have said Man, I can't believe W W released all those guys and they went all went to Mexico. I would not have thought it would have been the WWE takeover. And even if you just said those guys, forget about the Mexico element, you would kind of assume I don't even know if you would assume AEW because there's because all those guys being together, you would assume it was like T and A had really amped up or something, or like there's a new super there's a new, you know, super indie that's coming through. It would be crazy. Uh. I mean the match itself. I think all of all of the First off, we gotta give Big, big, big, big shout out to the fans there. Like The atmosphere Does such a big heavy lifting job. of making so many moments feel like they're great moments. And that Mexican crowd Every single week. I would barely watch it live on YouTube. But every Saturday or Sunday morning I'd catch like a clip coming across my timeline and be like God They got the Undertaker doing down there. Like this is incredible. Like just every crowd reaction. And that has to do with the passion of the of the of the Mexican fan base down there and how deeply they cared about the storyline and how deeply they cared about El Grande. And I think a little bit more to that. How much They cared. about you not being offended for them. You know, like I think there was a lot of that going on. And now a lot of that does happen to go on with anything that has to do with something that's a little bit more culturally diverse than what you're used to. Where people want to jump to be offended on someone else's behalf so quickly. I agree. Yeah. And just be like, Oh man, like you we can't have two white gods. What would have been what would have been the reverse version of this that we would have been offended by? Like if if like Triple A came up with their own gimmick that was like a heel Trump character. And it got so over that they like invited him to SummerSlam, but then we cheered him. Do we all hear him? It wouldn't be a Trump character. It would be like a caricature of what they think an American is. Cause that's what this was, right? Like Initially what what made the chat game a little bit. Is it bringing back bringing back Kirwin White is your is your pitch here, basically? Probably. Probably. It's gotta be it's gotta be something that's offensive to white people or offensive to Americans. But then embraced By Americans, you know? But We're so divided, and this is what makes the the whole thing so brilliant to me, anyway. Like we're so divided as people. I should If you paint me a picture of what the typical American looks like. You can't guarantee that person's gonna be booted chair. You can't guarantee that person's gonna be have so much pride about their country and their culture behind them that they'll get universally cheered. Done with taste and done the right way. And the way Louis Vuiser did it, right? Like The way he was sort of Obviously you need Chad Gable to come in and sort of be this caricature of person. I don't know if they had the presence of mind to See this coming or did you have some wonderful entry look? This has to be just one of the greatest The greatest moments of injury look in WWE history which I think. Um But I think even if they had planned it all out, it wouldn't have been the same thing because it took The new Grande Americano, like, you know, w really like taking the time to do the work. In Mexico. Right. I mean he had to get over there somewhere. I mean, he was super over right when he showed up, but it was still like You know, to really get them to care. Yeah, we gotta we gotta be We gotta give Ludwig Kaiser I mean the OG the The the only El Grande Americano his credit. Things that made him connect with those people, that fan base. was almost stuff that She uniquely was was was was prepared to do. The fact that I mean we w it's always uh and I'll probably say this like In the history of the interviews that we've done on the Mass Man show, the Ludwig Kaiser interview we did right at at WrestleMania in Vegas. Goes down on one of my favorites because It was such a It was such a conversation up that I didn't know what to expect from. And then you get to know him. And you see how charismatic he is. Yes. And you see exactly why You know, people were so high on him. And he was uniquely Sort of. Be this Multilingual Super charismatic. athletically gifted dude. To make this a real character that people cared about in Mexico. We still gotta come around in the US. We're still kinda uh uh uh. But in Mexico No, he is Oh, we were joking about it the other day, right? We were like, Yeah. You're like Of all the lucha luchadores that they've signed over the past ten years to be the new Rey Mysterio and Ray hangs him up. Who would have thought that a German white guy Who speaks bad languages is gonna be the most over Luchador there is. Match being as good as it was, bro. Oh my gosh. I I Unbelievable. I will say I'm a law. I am not a Mexican wrestling expert, but and and certainly not concerned about uh offending people to say this, but I did for a long time. argue pretty pretty frequently that they should have cast Ricochet at Sen Kara back in the day. It would have worked out a lot better than trying to just transplant a Mexican wrestler that people In America Large they hadn't heard of. Um But anyway, I agree with you. It was a it was a thing of amazement, a thing of beauty, a thing uh it was a once in a career or lifetime experience that match. It's impossible to rank it, to rate it. uh in a real way without a little distance. But man, what a What a night. And the right guy won. I mean, you you're saying Ludwig Kaiser for the first time, I realize I don't feel the impulse to say make some Kfabe comment or to like joke about how we're not sure that it's him. Because the ending was perfect. Now the ending is He gets to be Like, we don't have to joke about who's under the mask so much because he's the only real Grande Americano. It's not a question anymore. He gets to be El Grande Americano, and so weirdly he gets to be Ludwig Kaiser or Marcel Bartha or whatever you want to call him. It's just a it's an um absolutely amazing thing. And that match was so great, and Chad Gable's gonna show up on Raw probably tonight and be like the star of the show. Possibly. I mean Even more so than that, man, like You have the real life implications of what was going on in Kaiser's life with the you know thing was this was gonna turn on him or something, yeah. And was he gonna be allowed to travel and like so that whole like I don't know, the whole like Mexican pep rally that they had for him, like I forgot the actual name of it, forgive me if I'm you know, uh P offensive here. But they basically had a pep rally for dude. before the match and it was just like You know, he's crying real tears. And of course he could probably just cry on command, but like he gotta believe. Something about like what's going on in the real life of this all and the the real genuine support he's gotten from there. made it a real thing. It made like it's rest that's that's when wrestling is is best, right? Like wrestling is the best when These Comically oversized characters. Yes. Bring some real levity and realness to you. You know what I mean? And seeing him tear up while they were like marching him down the streets in Mexico and like there's murals of him on the street and You know, his beautiful girlfriend who's the announcer, who was like the MVP of this entire Feed and how much how much she raised Uh the passion of this whole thing. It was just A plus overall. We need more romance in our main roster stories. All right. Like You know what I mean? Like real Passionate type shit. They knocked it out the park. So much so that I'm scared I don't know what's ne what What do you do next? Do you have them Challenge Dominic for the Triple A mega championship now? Is that your That's gotta be a triple A main event. point right. Like it's either Penza vers Dom or And Dom's kind of a baby face too. Yeah. I mean But yeah, that's I don't know. What do you do? What do you do, Undertaker? Do you have do you have You know, you're I I don't know. It's it's gonna be I mean the Kingo still has a Latin American belt. He had a great match against Eho Del Wagner uh Dave Dr. Wagner Junior. Um Love. Uh But yeah, Ray Phoenix is hanging out down there now. He's your new cruiserweight champion. I mean, it could be anybody from the W W roster at this point. Um, but yeah, I I mean I would think that's kinda where they're headed, one way or the other. I don't really watch enough. I don't I don't I don't I really need to dive in. Mm-hmm. By the way, did Corey Graves fly from Mexico City to Italy immediately after this thing, or was he not in Mexico City? I I was under the con understanding they were in a room. And they were doing it remotely, but I couldn't. Yeah it sounded remote on the on the on the broadcast. I will say that for sure. That's uh shots to him for for calling both of those. I know it's a he had he might have been the all star of the weekend. He was so good. He was so good. He was he was so good at clashing Italy. I mean, he made that show for me in so many ways. I thought he Corey Grace is just working on another level right now and to be coming back after calling that match. Although if I were him, I think I would have insisted on being in Mexico. It's that's if there's ever a exc a reason for the private jet, the W jet being used for My you know, on air talent. That's the one. Let him be there. Whatever whatever deal that he worked out. Where he got to be in Mexico and Italy in the in the span of a weekend. I'm like, Yeah. I don't think he d he doesn't always go to Mexico. So if he so if he when he's calling those events. So if he's if if I mean may it probably made sense that we'll just do it all remotely like we always do, but man, what a night to be there. Um So yeah, I mean just an incredible thing. All right, if that was the match of the year, then I'm guessing it was probably also the match of the weekend. Yes. Was what was the best match at Clash in Italy? Was there any match at Clash in Italy that you think will be in a match of the year conversation? I don't know. Definitely probably not match of the year conversations, but there were some pretty good matches, like I really liked Ria Ripley versus Jay Cargo. I think it was I think it was Jade Cargo's best match in WWE. Since the Wrest The WrestleMania match was very good. I thought this was better. And if this is better, then you can say this is your best match in WWE. And if you and and Frankly I mean, Rhea Ripley's had some absolute bangers. Mm-hmm. I feel like I haven't seen her work like this. There's nobody leading her along. You know, there's no this is it I mean there it's not just about the moment, about the hype, about the crowd. I mean she i I don't even know what I would say her best match is, but I can certainly say that I haven't there's a there's an element of like NXT Rhea Ripley here that I haven't seen in a long time. There's a a little bit of fighting from underneath, a little bit of just say that. Rhea Ripley's had some great matches on the main. No, no, no, no. I'm not saying she hasn't had a good match into NXT. I'm saying she was bringing like it felt like a new Rhea Ripley to me in some. You know, she's definitely had some great matches. Um, but it was yeah, it was their best match. It was the best match of of that card, I thought easily. Fairly easy. And I guess that there's some other matches that that had a little bit of baggage from what happened over n uh afterwards. Let's talk about We'll we'll circle we'll circle back to Rhea and Jay. Let's do this in order. Um The show opened with Cody Rhodes defeating Gunther. Um, it was a pretty good match. I think these two, based on their limited interactions up to this point, you expect just to walk in and I don't know. Cody slaps Gunther in the face and we're already at five stars. Uh, it wasn't quite that, but the the the match was really good and and pr and fun. The ending though. It was strange. I'm not before we even talk about it. What was supposed to happen there and what did happen there. Kaz, do you have an opinion? For me it definitely looked like We were gonna get Cody Rhodes just sort of squeaking out a victory with the leg supposed to be underneath The rope for Gunther. And It looked like they might have uh They might have eyeballed it a little too short. So like I think Cody was trying to raise his legs up to touch the rope or get it. underneath the rope. It just looked very clunky at the end. Somehow somehow Gunther was supposed to cross the ro cross the rope threshold and break the pin. And he either didn't do it. Yeah. Maybe from a different Or maybe from a different angle. Yeah, he was already under the rope and Cody yanked it out. That was what that last movement was to get him away from the rope. And that's supposed to be the controversy that that the ref didn't see it at the beginning. Can I be a little nitpicky? Please. think they fell back onto the, oh, I was wrong, the ref missed it too easily. I would have loved it if Cody argued back with the referee and was like, No, see, like I saw his leg under the rope and that's why I pulled it higher. to try and like get it underneath the rope and gap is like no it was like if it was more like sometimes like if you're gonna do the ref fucked it up story. You know what I mean? Like The guy who got the benefit of the call needs to stop just being like Oh, well, I guess he got me. Let's do a rematch or something like that. Great point. I would have loved if Cody was like, no, like I saw his leg under the rope. Hold it higher. Like I I use my presence of mind and go through, no, you're cheap, whatever, what like if it was more like. When there's bad calls, right, in in real sports. The team that got the benefit of the call is never just like, oh, well, I guess you got us. Like, no, like have it be a little bit more just like no, I was right. No, I was right. Like have it be You know, about the letter of the law too. No, if he's if he's under the road for one second then yeah. How many times have we are during the finals are we watching them do those replay reviews and the people on the on the analyst are like Yeah, I think this looks like a foul or this looks like offensive foul. And the referee comes in and it's like, nope, it's not that at all. And the crowd booze and stuff like that, like that's Don't just Just pro tip WWE for creative. Don't just fall into the well, oh well, I guess we were wrong sort of thing. Like, no, like. Use the whole logic. Like just just react like how real athletes would react. Like real competitive people. It doesn't mean you're a heel because you're like, no. I wanted to take advantage of the ref not seeing it. Like be like, no, I saw you put the foot under the leg. I tried to lift it up to get it under out underneath it. That was my goal. It still ended up underneath the leg, but like it wasn't like I was trying to take advantage of a rep thing or or Gumpter be like, no, that's bullshit That would have been cool. Who is the most real and we're going in so many divergent places. Who is the most Like who who's what wrestler's attitude do you think was most like A real athlete. And don't count the ones who were like gimmicked as athlete types, like like Mello. Uh huh. Um Gimmick like a real athlete. I mean it's not gimmicks Who who actually went out there with the person with the I mean like is it Sean is it H B K during the the first D X run of Bret Hart I'd say it's Bert Hart for sure. Like Bret Hart Definitely seem like He carried himself the most like I think an athlete would carry themselves. Having the title was important. Um You know, like the way he Even like when he first turned on Vince, like the way he was like responding to it, like the way he loses matches, like Yeah He's never really a Gracious loser. And I think that's okay. You know, like I think It could all it could come off looking like competitive fire, but you know, in wrestling Since things have to be so black and white, like it it it always has to be all this guy's A sore loser or oh it's this or it's that. It's like nah man, like sometimes athletes just like Fucking interview James Hard and after he got swept. He's like, you know, analytically, I think we were the better team or whatever, or something like that. Like there's always something, like, you know. So I that is definitely a Bret Hart response. I don't think we I didn't think about it at the time, but that was he all those all those weird Cavs interviews were basically just like Bret Hart answers. That's it. That's exactly right. That's my that's my tiny, tiny nitpick. Like Cody should have been more on the Nah, bro, like I saw that. Like this is like I was trying to be like you're not just gonna complain that like you had the you know, the foot under your leg. Like nah, like this is a fair and square win. Okay, good point. Well that's your tiny nitpick. I have I have a major nitpick and it's the ending of that match. Um Is the idea going to be that Gunther has claim to an immediate rematch? Or that this will do you think will linger in the background for a while? Because it's not like Cody Rhodes didn't get into any other mess. On uh on Sunday. He also had a silent face to face confrontation. With Roman Reigns backstage, where they eyed each other up and down. That seemed to be calling a shot for a potential SummerSlam match what a lot of people are thinking, although it's not like Roman Reigns doesn't already have a full dance card himself. We'll get into that more later. Um Well isn't Knight of Champions next the next movie? Oh it's champ versus is it champ versus champ, then might be might be champ versus champ, crown crown jewel championship time, you know? So maybe we're getting Cody Roman for that crown jewel. Uh I'll be I'd be with that. I hope they don't have to wait to SummerSlam. Damn, I forgot about the crown jewel titles, belts. Mm-hmm. big they are. Cody already has one. Does he only have one? Cody does have one, yes. Seth Rollins has the other one. Do they have to give those up now? Or do they get are they just commemorative trophies? They get rings. You know, they get championship rings for those. Yeah. But so the so the belt itself You can only get it for a year. I think you just get it for that day. Yeah, that that belt that belt does not leave the country. Yeah. Oh yeah, good point. The belt's got one of those like um one of those like wire things that connects it to the stand that it's on. Like when you're at a store, you like pick up an iPhone or whatever and it's just like you can't yank it away. You can't get it far enough. That w that's it. That's it. All the people that wanna have photo ops with the belt, they gotta go get in the same They gotta go through security to do the whole thing. Um okay, so they just get the ring. We get some we we got the full card for I mean the full bracket for King of the Ring. I want to talk about that too. Let's finish running through Clash in Italy. Uh, what was the second match of the night, Bruce? I don't even know what order they were in. Let's see. I feel like it was it was the women's match, right? It was it was uh It was Jade Rhea. And those were the two that were all ESPN went. Over Brath kicked off uh the that the ESPN plus part. I watched it all in Disney, so I only kind of caught where they were cutting. It did feel like the first two wait, which matches weren't ESPN? Uh the first the first two matches on ESPN were Cody Gunther and Jane. And then ESP and Unlimited started with LeBron. Which felt like deliberate or no, that you got the impression that the game plan was to like People hooked on the free show and then on the next show. Make it the first match on the card. You know, if like if you only showed up for Brock versus Oba on a lark at at WrestleMania. Then you hear they're coming back, Okay, well let's we'll watch it for free again. And you watch the free the free pre show and you're like, Oh no no, I gotta buy the thing. But it's on right now. So it's the most like It's a way to really get you hooked in. Who knows if that was a plan. That's what it felt like. I will f I will say It felt like I mean I sort of forgave Cody versus Gunther in the moment because I thought it was just being sh shortened to fit on the in the pre-show or like they had other motivations for what's important on the pre-show if it's just Make Cody look like Captain America, like okay. Um But then the women's match went off really well. You know, like whatever that that Jade Cargo rear Ripley match was the match of the night. And um and listen, Sol versus Becky was a great match too. This might be w you know, the one of the most successful nights for women's wrestling on a non evolution and non Ronda Rousey WrestleMania in WWE history. These two matches were so big. And so good. And they mattered so much and and I mean we've already talked about Rhea Ripley versus Jade Cargo, but that's a match that I didn't think those two I mean, same at Wrestlemania. They had such good chemistry, but like at WrestleMania said I didn't think those two be capable of having that kind of match. And then they came out l on Sunday and they out uh yesterday they outdid themselves. It was I mean just amazing. Amazing. And now I'm excited to see where everybody involved goes from here. It looks like Jade Cargill is gonna be firmly ensconced in a uh uh Charlotte Flair feud. Um, Charlotte came out and helped out Ria Ripley to some extent during the match and then The The Cargill crew beat up um Charlotte Flair backstage. You know that's gotta be coming. Um So that's cool. What do you see for uh and I guess I guess if you're right about Knight of Champions, which they haven't made clear yet, then I guess we'll have a champion versus champion match for Rio Ripley to occupy yourself with. What do you think about that? Well, uh I don't know because apparently Liv Morgan is in the Queen of the Ring tournament inexplicably. Um and um Yeah. So Liv Morgan was announced for this Queen of the Ring tournament. Immediately had to go online. At least she took the bullet, went on social media and explained why she did it, why she was in it, despite being the champion. The fact the the the goal, the winner of the tournament in in fact gets a title match at Summersley. So unless I mean I don't know why she didn't specifically say this is how I'm gonna get to punch Rhea Ripley in the face at SummerSlam. But she gets her anyway at night a champion. So it doesn't make a lot of sense that she's in it. But she says since she's the champ, since n everyone's too afraid to face her, then she's just gonna try to be and she's gonna take on any opportunity. Prove that she's the greatest of all time. Um But do you think that somehow means we're not gonna get Rhea versus Live in Saudi Arabia? Or do you think that this is just gonna be Maybe the more obvious thing here, which is just We're like L Liv is going to lose in the first round because of Rhea Ripley interference and that's gonna do more to set up their match and Logic doesn't really need to be a part of it. I don't think logic is gonna be a part of it. Okay. It would be nice to have some logic. But I just feel like, you know. Uh if there's a match to make, this is gonna make it. Um All right, well she's in her first round, all the first round matches are fatal four ways. Um So this is for Queen of the Ring and it's also for a world title shot, presumably at SummerSlam. So you gotta read everything through those lenses. She's in a bracket with Becky Lynch. Alexa Bliss. And Chelsea Green. It's so hard to gauge with Liv Morgan having the championship. But who do you think has got the best odds there? You can make the case for a lot of people. You can make the case. Becky Lynch has a referee that she's gonna be fighting soon. We'll talk about that more in a second. Chelsea Green's really been given a nice push since, you know, she returned to the active roster. But I don't know if her winning around in the K Queen of the Ring is really meaningful. And then Alexa Bliss, who now that she doesn't have a partner, is probably gonna be teed up to do something big. I don't know. I don't know. I I just have no idea. The the other brackets are this. I'll let you just answer in um a larger scale way. If well it's just do it one by one. If you had to pick one of those people to be your number one contender at SummerSlam against Rhea Ripley, who would you have? Man. Am I bugging for thinking it's gonna be Chelsea Green? I kinda think it is. I don't I don't know. I mean I well, it's that or Alexa to me. Alexa's got 'cause Alexa's got nothing else going on and you know, it's like Charlotte walked right into a major feud. What's Alexa gonna do, you know? At least to get her through the first round. I don't know. The next bracket is Sol Rook, your IC, your new uh women's I C champion. Byra Valkyria, Charlotte Flair, and Jade Cargill. That's gonna be a slobber. Um I'm guessing Flair and Cargo fight each other out of the tournament, a la Hogan and Andre. Mm-hmm. Sol's got a n maybe the this that you would argue Sol's got enough for right now, having just won the title. So Lyra advances? She's always great in these tournament settings too. I kinda locate I'm kinda think of Charla Fleur. Okay. I think Charlotte might be might be the person to So win this. It makes a certain amount of sense 'cause she and Rhea are friends and now we put 'em up against each other again and Yeah, there were two friends. But Yeah, 'cause what you're saying I mean I think what you're saying it makes perfect sense and it's also a sort of like Mendoza line of this whole thing. Whoever's gonna win this has to be at least as good of a SummerSlam opponent for Rhea Ripley as Charlotte Flair is. We we sho we should we this is this actually should be the criteria. Of the first bracket, Liv Morgan, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, and Chelsea Green. Which one who of those people would be a better SummerSlam opponent for Rhea Ripley than Charlotte Flair? If that I'm saying. Charlotte Flair saying is the baseline for a Rhea Ripley SummerSlam match. Mm-hmm. Would anybody that we've discussed so far be a cooler, better, higher drawing opp opponent? for a Summer Slam opponent for for Rhea Ripley. Then Charlotte Fleur. You can say Lem Morgan, yes. Uh, Becky Lynch maybe. But that's probably the end of the rope. So Ruckka you could make the case that it would be super hyped or like whatever, but Charlotte's sort of the Chelsea Green. I I kinda get the feeling Kinda get the feeling it's gonna be Chelsea Grey. You think um against Ria Ripley at Summerslam or just in the first round of night uh of the Queen of the Ring? I think of the people left, like I think she's probably the most intriguing matchup. We also got We have we got a lot of other people. Roxanne Perez, Eo Sky, Julia, Lash Legend, Bailey Raquel J C Jane. And Who's the last one? Kiana James. Oh, Kiana James. They didn't do Kiana James any favors, or J C Jane for that matter, by sticking him in the bottom right corner of this whole thing, but sure. Um Yeah, if I had to guess I would say I would say Chelsea Green. Lyra Valkyria, J C Jane. Then how do you get to a championship match? Oh, then it has to be EO Sky. The super the the mega powers explode at SummerSlam. It's Eo Sky's winning. Oh yeah. Yeah. Eo and a Rio could be a good one. I gotta tell you though, I mean any I really thought Ju Julia with the new hair Julia's with a new haircut should not lose. I mean, give her at least like three months of undefeated streak or something. Um What do you say? You think they're gonna figure Julia out? Well it looks like they're trying, at least. I love that she was in the crow for Clash in Italy as a proud Italian who has not been back since she was born, but which is still awesome. But it's just like what a weird life story, you know, like it's just that it I I actually I'm not complaining about it. It's just it was so cool to see her there. Um and then to see Santino Morella get a bigger pop, which I'm just like, come on. Um We're just going through the tournament brackets. We'll skip on let's wait on the min's for a minute, because we also got Um This episode is brought to you by the active cash credit card from Wells Fargo. As we mostly predicted here, came out on top, setting up a potential rematch, you know, uh uh Uh rubber match for those two. Or as Brock Lesnar put it himself, one plus one equals you're done, bitch. Did I did this can someone Bruce explain that to me. I don't know that I can. Like they each get one win, but after one win that means That means Oba Femi's dead? Please booking one one win plus one win equals We're done with this. We each got our win over each other. We're getting out of here. I have no idea what's going on with that. That was a really fun match though, and I thought they did an exceptional job of booking that mat or structuring that match so that I my I I thought both guys were gonna win numerous times during that match. The fact that they let Did Brock let Oba Fimi do the full, you know, shot put on him? And And then but but even though Oba wasn't winning the match was pretty incredible. You know, it's like Oba had these moments where you're just like Nobody has ever looked as good against Brock Lesnar. And then he's still gonna lose the match, which just set up a rubber match, I assume. Are we getting Brock versus Oba in Minneapolis? That seems to be the prevailing theory. You know what I mean? Um I could definitely see a world where Oba, what's the rubber match? I could definitely see a world where Brock causes over. Uh in the tournament. You know what I mean? Like I definitely see Again. Back track here. I was really glad that Brock Lesnar won because I think they were in dangerous territory with Obafemi and like getting him boring. Yeah and he was red hot and and this is a thing with Undefeated streaks, right? Like undefeated streaks in WWE and Pro Wrestling is tough to pull off now because they ain't no jobbers. Ain't nobody that we could really conceivably send out there from your local, you know what I mean, Podunk Town. that we're gonna watch like Goldberg Spear in thirty seconds that eat a jackhammer. used to be what people just tuned in for. Yeah and because there's not a ton of enhancement talent or Enhancement talent isn't necessarily Important enough for the casual viewer to not change the channel if they really like Oba like that. There was just something exciting about them beating up guys you'd never seen before. Now, odds are the skinny arm potbelly dude, you know, that was a that was from the whatever town they were filming in, does not have a chance against Oba Finny. But at least even at least you get to watch and see how well this guy if this guy knows how to bump or if he's just a bum off the street. There's some excitement to it, you know? Um And I always loved in those squash matches too when the guy getting squashed was just sort of like incidentally way bigger than the other dude, but what but but wasn't working as a big guy, you know, it was just like the only jobber they could find. was six four and the and there's going up against somebody who's five eleven. That was always fun to me too. Somebody posted a one man gang World w W C W match, one man gang versus It was called like El Ninja Grande. And it was just like this guy was just in like the most generic ninja, you know, wrestling mask. But he was like six eight. For no reason at all, he was big. And he wasn't working big, he just got he just got demolished by one mana gank. But anyway Um Anyway, where were we? Okay, Brock Lesnar versus Oba Femi. So here's what I think. The most The the part I couldn't quite, like, uh wrap my head around in the build to this match was the insistence by by Paul Heyman that Brock Lesnar was still retired? Um I think this is it. I think this is the story. I think Brock says one plus one equals you're done. I'm back I am I am once again retired. I never stopped being retired. Just had to show you what was up. And no, I don't need your rematch because I'm a retired person who who w won the feud. via the age old one versus one plus one equals you're done rule. and Brock Lesnar between I mean sorry and Oba Fimi. Between now and SummerSlam has to go get Brock Lesnar out of retirement. Right, Brock. Oh, but a Show up at his farm or go go terrorise the streets of Minneapolis. Go to the University of Minnesota and Turning over weight machines or something. I don't know what would be the right move, but somehow he's gotta lure him out of retirement. And I think that's good. Uh a lot of people were complaining that Oba Femi lost, saying that he got buried I mean, just crazy, crazy comments. But even for those of you who were who like us are huge Oba Femi fans and wish Oba Femi would have won. Kaz talked a lot about a little bit about it last week. There's it checked some boxes. Oba Femi, like you just were talking about, didn't have a good opponent. Well now he's got a good opponent. He got a good opponent Sunday and he's gonna have another one at SummerSlam. That's good. There's also this question of who's gonna beat Obafimi. So at least now we don't have the first loss of Oba Fi Femi hanging over Oba Femi's head for the rest of his career until it happens. He's already lost one. He lost one that anybody in his place would have lost. It was a good loss. And it made him look really strong, man. There were like ten moments in that match. Or Oba Femi got to look stronger than any of Brock Lesnar's previous opponents have looked, including the ones that beat him. Yeah, oh like oh but Vemi really got th got a nice shine in that match and I don't think anybody took like what, seven F fives or something like that? Yeah. Kept coming back up, one through a ten. I was I had lost count. Like literally, I don't know how I'm sure I know they have someone keeping count for them, but yeah, it took a lot of F fives. There's definitely times where you could definitely come out looking better in the match than the loss, they do a win, right? Like Brock open match at WrestleMania was great. I think this is one of those cases that he looks better, but go ahead and finish. I'm sorry. Great, quick, and it was a short sort of um You know. passing of the torch with Brock and Oban. Not for nothing the Brock moment sort of overshadowed like the actual match, which was Not as good as this match. Not as good as this map, so No, it was not. No, I thought this man just Brock had to deviate from his like original game plan, which is like He rushed over in the corner, like he threw seven F fives at him. Like he's he basically hit the spam button that times. And almost all of it still didn't take him out. You know, so I think Definitely. It's it's interesting to see. It's interesting to see that. You know what I mean? Like I think this is one of those plate times you talked about where the loser comes out looking better. Because and this is and this might help for some of you who are who were conflicted about this ending through this, but I'm not gonna do a very good job of explaining it. There is an element where another Oba Win would have felt slightly could have felt slightly hollow. Because Yeah. Beating Brock Lesnar. And it even in a scripted sport. is an amazing athletic feat. Right. Like it's it like that's always been the way they put it over. Like you have to take Brock Lesnar to his limit. You gotta face this thing down. But having but when you win twice, then you sort of default to this sort this thinking of like well there it's just a booking decision. You know? It's not like about Obufemi being better. It's about the WWE deciding to put him over decisively with two match two wins back to back. I think this puts the I think that for their next match, I think it puts it squarely back in the good heat sort of category, like you're gonna like Oba Fimi, who is presumably gonna win, it's gonna feel like God versus God battle as opposed to the way the wrestling company scripted it out. I think that's significant. Um and and He's definitely gonna be better after the third after the the third match than he was after this one, but I think he was better now than he than he was coming into the match. He looks so good now. I had so much fun with it. As good as the women's match was, that's the sort of match that we're gonna end up talking ourselves into is WWE's match of the year. At the end when we're always trying to convince ourselves that somebody besides Gunther was wrestler of the year on the WWE side, you know, like you're looking for that match. And you start picking matches that were just awesome. You know, and this is probably one of those. Um When we do the end of the year ranking, do are we putting in are we putting Triple A as part of the WWE? Or no. Feel like we gotta. And then we separate NXT too. Like we'd always sort of look NXT. Yeah, no, we gotta separate it. We gotta separate. Yeah, we gotta separate it all out. Anyway, good job. Good job. Booker uh oh yeah we have more that we have more that we haven't talked about. We have the um wait, what what did we just do? Oh yeah, the uh so so Ruck up defeats Becky Lynch. Excellent, excellent match to win the IC title. Becky Lynch Obviously leading this match. But it worked a lot bigger, worked a lot a lot more physical than I'm used to seeing her, I feel like. She had a lot of You would think maybe in this in this matchup she would just be playing a Weasley heel. No, she was really in there involved and really physical, and it was a really tight, snug match. Even so Rook as great as she is, has a b has an element of almost looking Too talented for her opponent at times, where it looks like she's working too slow, but really she's working too fast. We didn't see any of that on Sunday, she and Becky had in Incredible chemistry and incredible timing. Um, and they made the right decision here. Do you think there should have been more than one title change with four title with four belts on the line at Clash in Italy? Or were you happy with this being the kind of spotlight? Nah, I mean you know. For chaos purposes it probably would have been cool to see Jake of Hatu win and Roman has to fall in line with the bloodline, but No, I think all the choices were necessary, man. Like Cody retaining made sense to me even though The finish was a little sloppy. Uh yeah. It wasn't a little sloppy, it has to be said. Because not only did it go off poorly, but we as the sitting at home did not know what we were supposed to be watching. So I don't know if that means Michael Cole missed a beat or what, but or if he was if he was no selling it because it was a botch, but it but it it went it failed spectacularly. Like there were a number of levels on which that didn't work. But go on, sorry. Nah, I didn't I wasn't mad at it. You know what I'm saying? Like um, you know. I feel like Knight of Champions in SummerSlam is gonna be very consequential and You gotta give Becky Lynch your credit, man. Like the it's kinda she's used the women's it's kind of championship to put over Damn near this entire new generation of NXT women. And AJ L crazy, right? He gets it's And this feels like the appropriate end of that storyline. Right? Like she hand she finally handed the belt off to the next big star in the company. I'm sure she'll continue to work that way. Maybe, you know, like uh Becky loves that belt, so I can definitely see Sol defending it. You know, every Monday night on Raw. But Kind of it'll be really interesting to see Becky. Let's say but she if she gets it, now would be the appropriate time for her to go wrestle Jessica Lynch and at least take a minute away from it, right? Mm-hmm. If she does wrestle Jessica Carr. Where does that is that a night of champions match? Is it weird to have like a one off stipulation laden women's match in Saudi Arabia, or is that a Summer Slam match? Think it's a Saturday's main event match. Well, I agree. That's what I said before S that's what I said on Friday. It felt like a perfect S Saturday's main event match. Um You don't think I feel like she turns that into a big match. I don't know. I feel like maybe that ha uh yeah, they find she finds a way. 'Cause or maybe maybe something happens in the Queen of the Ring tournament that makes it even more More significant. More diabolical. Yeah. And I mean listen, Jess she has more to to bitch at Jessica Carr about after after uh Clash Nidley, but it's not like there was some specific moment, right, where they were like almost came to blows. Like there They could still have another big moment. Coming up. Anyway, and then You mentioned that Jacob Fatu failed to win. tribal combat against Roman Reigns. It was a very good match. It actually seemed to abide by real tribal combat rules. Um, in so much as we have any concept of what those are at all. And uh Jacob, I thought looked really, really good. I was a little bit caught off guard by the ending. I think because the match it talked me into Jacob winning. Um And it was sort of like the The Brock Lesnar thing where it was like just a culmination of big moves as opposed to fifteen big moves in a row. Um I don't know, what did you think? Do you you said you would have liked Jacob to win for chaos. But do you think the right do you think the right person won here? Yeah, I mean Keeping the title on Roman is never a bad idea. Uh, but you know, the whole aftermath of the match was Seeming to seemingly teasing some new bloodline stuff and Monday night tonight is, you know, Roman tweeted. You know. There's nothing better than acknowledgement day. So The MFTs, Solos guys. Bloodline lurking. Jacob happened to acknowledge Roman tonight. It's gonna be really interesting to see s sort of what happens because This all feels oddly familiar. And it it this all feels oddly like bloodline one point oh, like Almost down to a T. But There's new elements like Solo in his family and and you know. Bunch of other people. That make this Bigger than it originally was. You know? So Yeah, I'm I'm not it's it'll be hard for me to take the title off a Roman Reigns if I'm Well, how are you feeling about bloodline three point oh or whatever we're about to go into? Because obviously this match was very much about the bloodline stakes. It was a bloodline rules match, like whatever. And Jacob, but Jacob's a guy that could like deviate from that from that script or whatever. Like if matching like of course it's about being the bloodline, but Jacob Fu is sort of separate. But then Roman like was like nodding at the M F T after the match. They were like sitting in the crowd staring ominously I don't know. How much stomach do you have for just like We're doing the bloodline again, guys. You think that you think there's enough new interest here with Jacob Fatou involved and the bl and the MFT being a sort of different thing? Um I trust it. I trust it more than I trust a lot of other storylines to get pushed. Okay, fair enough. Uh, but as far as Yeah, I mean I I I trust it. I think I think they definitely uh there's definitely a um You go into the well a little one too too often, you know, like It's it's been wildly successful. It's been in my opinion, the most successful storyline they've ever told. Um But you always start to wonder If you know there's bloodline fatigue and Maths like that, the ending like that. Uh tease with Cody Rhodes and you know Solo and those guys sort of sitting around there. It almost seems like all right, like we've we've kept these players away from each other long enough. Like let's time let's go back to the to the money generating well that we know is the bloodline Cody and Rome. It's almost like the tribal combat match. And in some I'm since the Jacob fought two match was Roman like earning like the it was the stakes were really Stack the other way. Roman winning the Roman winning this match. Or winning the past two matches. I think He didn't win a title. He w he won the right to go back to the bloodline storyline. Like he sort of earned his way back into the current product of WWE by by looping in Jacob Fatou. And I do think it would be interesting to go back for a while with Jacob Fatou in the mix and him having this sort of You know? toe the line or whatever, I think they probably can't drag it out nearly as long as they did with Jay and I'm saying this Jimmy. I like looking at these things from the outside looking in. And If they're going back to the bloodline well once again. It almost in my eyes and again I I haven't confirmed this with anybody. It almost seems like Roman is only willing to work with his people. Right. Like it almost seems like he only has interest. Interworking with his family and elevating his people. And elevating his folks. Elevating. But yeah, I mean I don't know who else it would be. Uh maybe is Royce Keys one of his people? That's a good question. But um But yeah, I think. You know what I mean? I do think that there's I listen, you you I mean, I don't think there's anybody here who has any like MFT t shirts. Actually, I don't know about Bruce. Um but But he's shaking his head for the record. But I think we can all agree love him or hate 'em, that the M F T's benef from being dipped back into the bloodline waters and trying to catch some of that mojo again, right? Um And so there's certainly not anything more exciting that like Jimmy and Jay are gonna do and and I mean I guess you'd say this is a waste of If you're gonna complain, you might say this is a waste of Jacob Fatou's time. I don't see how that's the case. You know, I mean he is now positioned himself he's now in pole position for a guy who gets to inherit The mantle of Roman Reigns when he disappears. And it's interesting. Like it's interesting because the whole story they've been telling with with Jacob Fatto is that like Yeah, man. This family has tradition and values and this is sort of how we conduct ourselves like You know. Daily. And Jacob I've been pretty much saying, Fuck all that for a long time. So like You know, the acknowledgement ceremony tonight. It would have shocked me if, you know Ain't no acknowledgement going down. Like it it wouldn't shock me if like The reason why they put all of the familiar members of the bloodline in front of our faces as we went off the premium live event. It's the sort of Zagas and sort of the ziggin that we're we kinda think is going on. It kinda feels like You know. If you've been watching for the past four years, you watch that and they're like, Oh boy, here we go. No, no. You know, one more time. But Fat Two, Jacob is such a wild card there. They can use him. as this variable to change up this thing that we all sort of assume. Agreed, just like they've they've done that with other players in the past. I mean, with like Sami Zayn going forward and and But I think I I totally agree with you. But I don't think that the variable just his existence is enough. His hype is enough. You gotta work him into the storyline. You gotta make him a variable. Don't just have everything bounce off of Franklin, I think that the right move. And one way or another, I feel like it's gonna happen. is that we're gonna hear the words I love you, Roman, tonight. that at some point w with everybody expecting him to turn, whether it be to side with solo or to just to be of the only baby face there. I think we're gonna get shocked. That's the that that uh Jacob Fatu actually does acknowledge Roman Reigns and becomes his enforcer. Roman Reigns is always gonna have to have, you know When I look him back over his shoulder. That's that's my guess, but we'll see. We'll see. Um And then wait, was that that was that the main event? That was the main event. We've actually we've actually made it through the card, which took most of the show, but that just means we're having a good show. Um We the only thing the main thing we didn't discuss was there anything spilling out of there that we didn't discuss besides we didn't discuss the men's bracket. Um, but it was there anything else that was just like a direct result of one of the matches last um last yesterday that that we haven't discussed? I don't think so. I don't think so, as opposed to this tournament? I don't think so. We can run through the men's tournament on Thursday. Um are we gonna get but w you know, this it's that the women's side just ended up being quite a conversation. What do we have announced for Raw tonight, by the way? Uh here we go. Jake of Fattu will acknowledge Roman Reigns. And King of the Ring tournament first wave. First round fatal four way. You can pick this one. Pinta. Versus Oba Femi versus Solo Sokoa versus Carmelo Hayes. I mean you said previously that the point of the the the point of the King of the Ring was that Oba Fimi was gonna win this year. Yes. So your pick is that he's gonna defeat Pinta, Solo, and Carmelo tonight? Yes. Yes he will. How are we getting it? Unless Brock uh costs them. Yeah. Uh Pinta's, you know, I think Pinta and well Pinta and Solo and Carmelo Hayes all have other things going on. But they don't have It's not like two of them are gonna disqualify themselves, right? I mean, they don't have anything there's no like existing feuds within this match.
