But it is a talking gun Yeah U I Well there's a couple of guys who sort of seell weapons and things like that called Mr. Brass and Mr. Bland and that's myself and Matt Berry. play those guys.. They can't do anything I, especially if you're the bag. Yeah The gun can defend itself. Yeah ye, the bag can't do anything. But I love Roach trip. I'm be sorry for that to come out. Now we I'm just going to say I like the way that Duncan Jones has done it his very seventies inspired. I real Matt and I, our characters drive around in a hovercraft, for instance, which was futuristic then and they've gone for it and they've kept the design very two thousand eighty. Yeah. and have they stuck the comics Aave they stuck quite close to the comic? from Yeah, yeah, very close. Becauseuse two thousand AD is like I was such a fan of it. me. Yeah. I loved it. I loved what I spent my paper run money on. Yeah, I loved it so much. That's a job that we did in the old days brringing newspapers together Yeah. That's when we we had paper and stuff. Yeah. It was like a website paper printed. It's like if you click print on a website Yeah. and then that would get you deliver the website thats That's what I would do when I was theid. Yeah, not very much. No, but It more money and by twenty eighty. Yeah Did you ever steal from the shop Now we would do it we would go to a place that the newspaper had a I don't know, it had a shed basically that't the newspaper organiz and where all these kids would be in a shed waiting for our papers. Oh okay so't this This one, the shop would send you out and then Yeah kids that that had been sort of in tr all they could steal would be a newspaper. Yeah, sure. And we get one free But If you've got a bag full of newspapers, you're thinking, you know what I want more g. We get a free newspaper. Did you do a paper on? No, I didn't. my friends And he used to regular stal it from the shop. And it's like an individual guy, I it wass really sad. Yeah, yeay. Now we had Britt on the podcast There was probably one of the biggest negative reactions to that episode that we've ever had, not because of anything Well, it was sort of what Brett did, but basically did. I saw Cleips and I enjoyed them. No, we were talking about New Zealand Marmite versus Oh yeah, I saw they came up. Yeah So people have got what is the name We did a taste test. So we haven't even We just We're just getting sred to the surface. do with this? Yeah I think I could finish this. This is rare for me. Okay It's a thicker marmite than New Zealand marmite. Yes, it doesn't look The look of this is not We not appealing. Yeah. Well the look of none of it is appealing, but I'm a big fan of the eco. I didn't mind this new one. Thank you so much. For this. No for. Yeah yeah. Not minding the New Zealand M right. I really yeah, I'm a really open minded guy. Okay.' second coaster, cond coaster. A different coaster? Yeah, it is, isn't it? Yeah Yeah, o. Thanks. In all serious has been Thankks for doing that. It doesn't have to be complete consonsistency that you know, you don't have to use the same coaster I've just done a quest So so can you Can do you mind showing to the camera the difference in appearance? Vs Very different Yeah Darker, it's thicker. Maybe we could go back show a clip of earlier with the other. That's a great shot. Can we do a side to side? Will, canan you do a little side to side? Is that cool? maybe a little bit clos to the national anthem and stuff like that would be cool Oh o I don't really like it. We don't have a good national an. Okay. Well neither do way. Yeah yours is upbeat compared to ours Okay, let's say It's strong. It's so strong. I think I prefer the British one just for its mildness. Well, hold on, I don't applaud yet, because what he's saying is I'm not pandering. What he's saying is he prefers the UK one 'cause it tastes less like Marmite than the N Zeal one. That's essentially what he's saying isn't? Yeah, this is a tasty Marmite Would you ask your mum for that I have asked my mum not to ever give me that. there you go. That's the taste test Why don't you. Thank. Really good. Thankk you for that. Nows start we're gonna start the beginning. L what? We've been going for twenty minutes night. That was the mom I bit.'. That was I'm so confused when it. seems we're gonna say just say that twenty minutes in. Yeah, yeah, I normally say that twenty mines. It's actually quite early for me to say that Normally, when somebody says we've done an hour, I go, okay, we're Let' stop. Right This. Now you' real time I'm going to be looking my mind off my teeth. Yeah, o. Now you're obviously one of New Zealand's greats I mean, that's obvious. Yeah. Who else are you thinking of? Sam Neil. Yeah. I'd call him New Zaland. Ky to Kanawa. V very popular here. Yeah, very popular U my cousin? Who's your cousin? Who's your cousin? I've got a cousin that lives out there. In Oakland? Yeahah, Pranard U yeah, yeah, he's pretty good. L he's a good dancer He does a bit of comedy. Yeah. Yeahah yeah. Yeah I'll look out for him. Yeah please do. That'd be amazing. Gota it you buzzing. Do you share the same last name? No. Okay This' lucky for him probably because there's already one out there. Yeah, you can't you can't have two wrangers. Oh sorry for the slur. have to bleak that out. Did you political correctness, G min Would you say your upbinging shaped your sense of humor you' quite? Oh boy. You're incredibly what's wrong You're gonna talk about my dad leving. Is it what youre gonna say? No, we cant if you want. I'm up for talking about whatever you want. My upbringing. Yeah, I don't know. I watched a lot of TV. Yeah. ye. I was just s in front of the TV A lot of the time. Yeah Yeah. And then did you and then were you thinking, were you watching TV thinking I want to be that I think I was just delluded and thought I could do it. E though my parents both worked in factories and my grandparents worked in factories, I thought Yeah I'm going be on TV though. Did you really think that? I mean, I also thought I'd be an inventor and haven't had an idea There's a few things I thought I'd be.. So how did that manifest up? They'd sudenly just start performing and stuff or putting stuff together I was in a couple of school shows and there was this one teacher at school who basically only interacted with me to tell me off, to give me detentions to you know like say something insulting to me. and she said I was really good in the school show and maybe I could do it as a job and because she'd only told me off before meant quite a lot to me. Yeah. And I think there's one thing I was like, oh, maybe maybe I could do it as a. Mrs. Mitler says that. Yeah, Wh hates me? Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah. But now I say that's like She's possibly also saying, well you can't do anything else that I've noticed And then I went to an open day at a university and it was in the drama department and watched them putting on an excerpt of a play someone had written and I thought it was so bad. I thought, surely I can do this Yeah. And I actually didn't do very well in that drama department No, it got me into it though. Yeah ye. And then who were your influencers back then? Wh were sort of were you trying to emulate anybody, were you? things I loved, I loved a lot of British comedy I'm fifty two, so some of these references will be old And if you're older than me, some of them will be quite fresh refereces Yeah the young ones Yeah For some older people I be think, oh I need to look into that. Yeah ye that's right I've been meaning to watch that. It's like that for me now, know there's movies I've been meaning to watch and they'll be out again because this's the twentieth anniversary. Yeah, the young ones black out were big for me American show, Gary Chandling It's Gary Chhandling show Um Things like that always, you know really lit up my brain, I think. Yeah. I mean we had Ben Nelson on talking about Black Ader and he was s talking about He got involved from series two. And you know, the first series was like completely different wasn't it? Yeah ye. I love the fif series as well th. I do as well. then You know, Ben El wasn' involved in that. So when I said that, he said A actuallyually was I thought youd think it was rubbish. Yeah, yeah. I say that Yeah. But it had a moodiness about it which was really different. But he became You know, who's such a completely different guy You know, like the on subsequent ones, I mean, I'm telling what you already know, but like that sort of sarcastic kind of withering thing I think I watched that and even now, I think my comedy is influenced by watching him back there, you know that' sort of I used to love it.. I think there's a thing that I like in that show and the first one where the clever guy in the first one is the servant. and from a working class family, I like thinking of the working class guy as being the clever person and the rich people being stupid. Yeah Everyone else looks at the other way around, don't we know it? You obviously you're one of these in as great as I said. Thanks Thank you you for laughing. Yeah. then's sorry there's another thing in New Zealand. There's a band called the Front Lwn that was a big influence for Brett and I. They wouldd do funny songs, but you know they'd play in theaters. it was a bit classier. We played in pubs ' a bit dirtier But they're a big influence too the front. check them out. I've got some short films with music and stuff.. pretty good. Were you thinking I'm going to break out into the UK, the U like did you have work was a dream. It was a dream because you know, watching the young ones and seeing the, you know, seeing things like double digger bus. things like that. And yeah, it was a dream. I don't know if we necessarily u plan to do it. we were just we just did the Edinburgh Festival and on them in summer over here where it's winter in New Zealand And that's a big part of like we've got to find somewhere to go so we don't have to stick through the winter. Yeah. Now I know that you guys have a much worse winter and perhaps off to you guys.. But yeah. Yeah, we just wanted to escape the winter. Edinburgh frringe. Yeah, the fringe. Be I'm now I've now been I'm not allowed to do the fringe by my agent. What did you do? Basically I become obviously doing too big. pardon? No no, it's not because I'm too big. Although I do think people get really annoyed if someone who's doing three thousand cedars and all those people doing fifty cedars. Yeah, I do think that is a I don't want to you know, I'm not talking about anyone in particular, but anybody that rocks up to the Fringe festival and takes half the audience and one takeakes Like what are you doing my? Somebody they can get those numbers at any time of the year Walking up. the fr all these people, you know, one of the saddest things I saw at the fringe was someone asleep in a bus shelter and for a pillow they were on a pile of their own flers with their own face on them That's how rough it can be out there. E Early memories of Edinurgh Fringeelike. justust played to three people And you're desperately trying to get a tune out of this say a crowd. Yeah, yeah. It's hard to get a vibe going with three people. know the worst Britain' ever played is one person And u At the ends she'd lift A the end. when did she leave? One song in two songs. didid she get to the end? Yeah ye So you didn't notice that she's gone or didnt we didn't notice. But we got to you that did we did a ig like that in our Fight of the Concquord show in the fictional world of the show, we just basically did that. Yeah ye But I think that I just I just found the fringe brutally hot. Anyway, the reason so the reason that I'm banned from it, not banned from it ' because of what it does to me psychologically What is that You get depressed. A little bit. and then You become more of a narcissist than you already are as a comedian. I remember going there. My youngest child was born while my wife was pregnant. Her due date was during the Finge festival Oh, it's a bad clash. And she was very casual. She very casually said to me, Ill I'll just give birth I'll come to Edinburgh. I birth at the Fren. I'll give birth at the French. Yeah. we could probably do a bucket afterwards. But so I was doing a show. I said to my friends Aisa said that she's going to come and give birth in Edinburgh. and then my friend said to me, you're a horrible, horrible person. I can't believe you're making do this. But she was so casual about it. I thought it was al right.ag how many drunk people with broken legs going to be filling up that hospital during that festival. It was a real U insight into How selfish doing a show in Edinburgh can make you. So for example, feel like your baby's been born' like, got I've got a two stday review. Yeah, it was like it was It was a lot going. You know, Lisa would go, I've had a tough day today, L My back's killing me, I just need to get this baby out of me and then I'd go Shortle saidid that I was derivative You think you b a b th. You know? and that's when I realizeed maybe I need to not come here anymore. you know? Jord's such a specific bit of knowledge. It's a website for comedy shows. I had becomes huge during the Edinburgh French. Yeah It becomesu in thedinburgh French they review every show. Yeah. Yeah. so even if you've come from some very small country Cher will come. Yeah. ye. And and that's great. And they won't take into consideration It's Steve Bennett actually, let's name the guy U You know, it becomes really important Yeah. and nobody outside of comedy has ever heard of it. So if you say to one of your friends, fucking know the Chortal review, they go, whyy are you talking to me about this? Yeah What is it? It's a really important comedy website? What was it called Chort Yeah? I haven't heard that name for years. Yeah. What the fuck are you talking about Chortal? Even Western reviews as comments Yeah, Yeah is And if you have a really good review, then the bad comments about why that good review is wrong. Yeah and they take over in your head Oh, it's horrible. It's like I can't you need to get a four star review or something. reallyally great. He's doing some great stuff Well done, Romash. And then the first comment is, did we watch the same show? Yeah exactly. And that I mean, some of those comments They They were the worst experience about doing those. youve got to avoid those. I was threatened with a knife in Edinburgh and I still think of a comment more often. It was like this. I slice you up like bread ' this a show Now A guy was shouting at a woman and I told him to shut up And then he came threatened me and then the woman told me to shut up The woman told you to get up No fair play, why are you getting involved? Yeah E exactly. He knows you correct. She's right. Whenne you wasn't wr reading reviews I got nominated for Best Newcomer. I thought I can look. Cratulations. Thanks. And I saw an article about the nominations. and thought I can read that. That's not a review. Yeah. So that's safe. What happened? It said You can't argue with the nominations this year with the exception of one And then it went into detail about how I shouldn' have be nominated? Yeah. It's good to get away from that stuff. Yeah ye. Yeah. It's exciting first It's like the first time you hear people talking about what you've done. and it's exciting and people are saying good things as well. Yeah. But I feel like One bad comment is equal to about ten good ones. Yeah for once. It's horreous. And and then you sort of think in your head. It's all in your head. Yeah. I mean you think, w have I be my m. Now now I think I can read them and go The bad ones wrong, evenven if there's more bad ones. wrong. No, they're wrong oneong wrong. That guy liked it. he's correct. It's a healthy place to be. It's a really good place to be. Now one of your most significant collaborations has been with Taika by TT What did you think of when you first met him? do you think Did you know he had sort of a genius quality to him or was that something that came later? I wouldn't have said that N just checking. Yeah, him and Breitt I met both those guys in the same way auditioning for stuff at University, the Drama Club. and both of those guys I remember thinking they were funny Yeah and lot stood out. Yeah. and I He the first thing I saw him do I'd seen him in the library earlier because all the people who were staying at University for the audition, I guess were hanging out waiting for this audition. and I'd seen him like helping a girl with their study like this handsome guy going like that and immediately disliked him. Yeah, of course. Yeah. And then I then we had to go get up in this audition and improvise stuff and he was doing it E guitar thing And while someone else was singing, but he was doing all the plugs and the sounds of the plugs and he's doing the wir pedal and he was getting it exactly right. And it' like, wow, Th those are some good observations. I thought it was really funny. And same with Brett, I I mean him an audition as well and he did a really funny thing as well, which I can still remember I I won't do it though. You won't do it? No, but I can remember what both those guys were doing when I saw them and then they made me laugh. Yeah ye But of course I didn't imagine that thirty years later we'd all still be doing stuff together. This episode is brought to you by Sainsbury's. I'm married She'd probably be up for it actually, but let let's I don't know if that's what the question should I sorry, that's married that I'm up for it. Okay, Greg G, great, great, cool cool cool cool cool, reat news. Let's hear her question. Hi gimming. This is Romish's Mum Chandi I know you are a very, very talented man. I thought she was going to say naughty boy. Thank it all Cl you like to serenate people I love to have a son who could sing Is there any chance maybe you could sing one of your songs I love music Music helped me a lot to be happy Bess. and enjoy life the There's a suggestion there that I would be her son. Yeah, it's bizarre that. Also would be brothers or I' be a new son and you would be her former son. I guess you'd replace me. Yeah. I think I think There's something similar about us that is little most you won't notice. Yeah Yeah, I do think we've got a similar You kind of could be brothers. Do you think so? Yeah. Yeah. There was a comment on Reddit the other day that said one that I feel like As these guys are aging, they're kind of morphing into each other. About us two specifically really? We're getting closer and closer now we're in the same room. Yeah. This is like destiny. I would say that sounded less like a question than a series of disparate thoughts It didn't sound Do she always give a question? She does, but she's never sounded as high as that before. Like she there were a lot of breaks in what she was it was a bit of a rollercoaster though was it? Have you spok to her since you sent that question in She wants me to sing a song or be you her son I think both a bit of both. a bit of both. I think I don't know if it're definite, but that's what it felt. So can I just hear it again, Pgirl I'm Shandi I know you are very, very Tented man I' blushing this time.. Your face says it all. Didn't catch up the first time. Very, very talented man. Your face saf it all. I heard you like to seate people love to have a s. C we just pause it there a. That's what she's heard about me. What is that is that do you like to serenade people I mean audiences, I guess. I guess, but that's not Ses occasionally I've tried a serenade. Yeah. occasionally. Yeah. Okay, so you like to say so that's true. She must have heard that from My first girlfriend. So you like to serenate people, okay Is there any chance maybe you could sing one of your songs I love music See, that's that's where that's the first bit where I start to become concerned about her. So have we got a guitar? H we we don't have a guitar nowough. o. No. Otherwise you would have done it Well, that's sort of sinking. Now fly the Ccourse. Yes You did Netflix as a joke after when was the last time you performed together before that Eight years previous, we played London or UK actually. We played the O two and Hammersmouth And whichich one No, Apolli? what do you call it? Apolloentum?'s eventum Apolli Yeah, not a school. Hammith. It's in Hammith though. It is in Hammith. You can still call Hamersmith Ao,'?cause'suse it's geraphically correct. Yeah. What did you prefer out of the item in the Apollo to play? Apollo. I're playing O twoa here. I am in a year. In May Yeahah, in a year, justust under a year yeah That us h. J just about enough time make it get this break even to get this all going. Yeah ye. What made you do the reunion then? was it exciting to do it? Be everybody went nuts for it. It was like we'd been We'd been playing to give it a little bit last year, like Just like meeting once a week when we're both in town And so I guess we' already got the guitars out And then they asked us We're after every year to do to do a festival or something like that. And I guess there were, you know seven years of ns. And then finally We gave it But it was amazing people went nuts through it. Like P peopleople very excited to see you guys back together. L did it feel cool to be doing that and to get that reception Yeah, it's almost weird. like come on guys. this was ages ago. Yeah for us But yeah, really nice, big support from the audience. Bea people who like you guys like love you, you like fanatical, right? I don't I'm not I'm saying they're a lot of You know, they' sound you It sound like you don't like us No, I do like you. Pople really like you. No, no I don't agree No, I didn't mean it like that. I was joking. But what I meant was people that like I'm joking but it also did sound like that. Yeah, no, it did sound like that. And then deliberately so but the point I'm making is people are obsessive, right? Like you've got super fans. likeike when we had Bret on, the comments on the like people O obsessed Yeah, people turn up dressed like us. Yeah have us on their t shirts, have Is this one lyric I have in a song about making that ladies in the audience pregnant. And I remember just one sing that to my mum, would you? Oh will. Give me her digits. Yeah. There's like women with t shirts that look like a sonogram likeike an ultra sound Right, but with my face on the bab Does that like? Does that feel good I guess it did actually feel good but also weird, but yeah flattery. Yeah, yeah. So do you think that's something you might will you could this become a regular thing? Yeah, I'm hoping we' do some more shows. Yeah we've we learned all these songs again was which was it was hard Was it really? Yeah? Yeah, we haven't played them for so long I then did they feel for min did you manage to get them back in the bones sort of thing Sometimes you get the guitars out and like, okay, remember this. Yeah. And it's d do, do do Oh what was the first? What's the first word? Yeah And then you think on the first once you got the first word then it will all come and then and then and then we' just on Google was lucky it happen I want to talk to you now about let's start let's get started. Yeah. S time to start at the beginning. Yeah let's begin. Alison Steve, which is out now on Disney pllus Is this how long we've been doing the interview ag this look When I got in here it was it was going to be playing in the week. Yeah or you I'm doing all. Yeah yeah. o. We haven't been in this room for a week. I' rel. We're a bit like a casino. you really There's no cl. how much time has passed? Its no looks, no natural light. Yeah. Listen, Steve, the show is genuinely It's it's so funny. It's so great Good. U It's an amazing premise that you know, such a Basically you see these two friends and then a bomb drops in their relationship basically I'm going to be totally honest with you. If you come on the podcast And I sort of thought it was good. I would say it's pretty good. Okay? That's honestly.'m not you're not going to come on here and I'm going to say We'll talk about it, but I think it's shit. That wouldn't happen. Yeah I'm shit like guy But I think it's Fucking great man. It's such a great show. It's so good Well, the scripts were really good and that's I was sent And same with Nicola Walker who plays Alice. We were seent the scripts. Yeah, I was just laughing and not knowing where the story was going to go and there's yeah, like you say the bomb drops in their relationship. there's a lot of juicy conflict there. It's got a real narrative drive to it, but it's also it's just incredibly funny There's like there's an awkwardness to it. I found like in the first episode, Be I'm fortyA in that first episode where Alice and Steve go out and they're in a bar with like twenty something And they're still like having, you know, try they're trying to have a good I found it so uncomfortable to you know, that realizing how you look in those situations as somebody of that age is I found it horrific. No you need to find a place where there's other old people like o Italian film festival. Yeah. Yeah that makes sense. Yeah. Who's that cool young dude wine tasting, even though I don't drink wine Noll be might seem quite young there. The reason it kind of resonated with me so much is because it's that thing of like being older but still thinking You still think you've got something I was about to say something to offer. That's not what I mean, but, you know, I do go out and have a goody time. You think you can still paddty? Yeah. And also it's horrible realizing how other people see you. I know. I remember because I'm fifty two. Yeah. I remember being twenty one and going to a friend's mum's fiftieth birthday party and being amazed she could still dance. Yeah. That's so sad to me now that someone might see me dance and go, lookook he can still move his limbs. Yeah' pretty. How does he keep fit that way But yeah it's very relatable, but in a horrible way that it's sort of firm ic I almost find it embarrassing watching I see Stephven, I think. As a fan of British comedy, I lo that about filming this that almost every situation has an element of awkwardness and discomfort. Yeah. And that that was exciting to me. It was like, I'm in British comedy. How did you approach because I think All of the performances are great in this. But your except one. Yeah. This is that's kind of why I mentioned that run of the nomination. doing I do the I bring it full circle. Yeah. clelever. Yeah. that's the most satisfying thing in comedy What I thought I loved about your performance in this is you never look like you you say your character says some incredibly funny things and the way you play it is really funny, but it never looks like you're reaching for it. And that is As like a comedy fan, I think it's to me, it feels like really difficult to achieve that, you know. It it takes resisting R I think yeah. but a lot of the people in the show are are dramatic actors or Nicolip primarily does drama. Yeah. So you don't want to be like the comedy the doing the Jim Carerey performance. Sure. But this'sone that's quite based in reality. But but then you're a you know, you're in a comedy. You must have been I don't know, I don't know, I don't know how you How you resist the temptation to go I need to put something, you know, you're constantly thinking I need to put something into this, right? But you mean well, we did lots of different takes and there would have been takes like that where I' being haming it up probably too much. Yeah. But the people I like, you know, like People like Peter Cookie so controlled. Yeah, you know and I would aspire to be like that, I guess. if I'd thought about it more.. It more a thing I feel like when I watch someone who's very dead panning and controlled or very real but still funny. ye, like I would I think the same thing. I don't know if I find that about myself because of watching myself. I know what I'm trying to. Yeah, know I'm trying to be funny. I mean, I just loved your performance. Oh thanks so much. I think it's such a great show. One of I might be Be Georgie watched it as well. And we were Thanks, Georgie. Yeah. We were talking about who we sed with in it, right? Because actually you're watching it thinking Well, it basted. Yeah, initially, right? And then you then you think then there's a reaction And then you I found myself and did you as well find yourself flitting between who you kind of empathize with and who side you on throughout the thing? Is that is that? I haven't watched it but reading the script ye and that's something You know, that we've heard a lot that people change allegiances throughout the this this you call it you call it a series Oh sorry other than a season a season. Yeah sorry you have knowish to the offering about the ice? Yeah But yeah, that I think that is what u You kind of find yourself thinking, shhit, what would I do in that situation? how? Because basically Steve, I think that this is in the promos as well, Steve Sleeps with. best friend's daughter H his best friend's daughter. Yeah. How sererious do you think that is? Well, describing the premise, a few times people have told me about people they know whher something similar has happened. Yeah. and it has definitely broken real life friendships. Yeah I don't know. I was watching it thinking, I wonder because it det with it's really difficult thing to deal with the age gap and all of that and there's an ickiness to it and all of that sort of stuff. The show deals with that really, really well. Yeah, it's like it's like a woody yellen sort of story in that it's the older guy younger woman, but what if the younger woman's mum was also Yeah the main character? Also, I feel uncomfortable. you know, I was worried. I was trying to argue that the daughter character would be older. She's twenty six in the show, but I was thinking she could be thirty You know, that'd still be realistic to be that generation. Yeah yeah Yllie who plays that character is so great but when I met Yllie, I said, how old are you? And she said, seventeen And I just stared at her And she said I'moking, I'm twenty And I was freaking out and she then she was joking again and she is twenty six. it was really unfair.. It is a really unfair prank to do to me on the first day Did you find thatessings difficult No, we had an intimacy coordinator and so we knew all the boundaries and I quite like that. Intimacy coordinator. Yeah, it's a filly new thing, but and I've heard some people complaining about it, but I think it's Because it's awkward initially, isn't it? Right It always is in any way. when you have the chat with the Intimacy coordinator, it can be like it's Are you comfortable with her touching you? Yeah on the chest Yeah Yeah I wouldn't mind it at home. Yeah. It would smooth things out, wouldn't it? L Yeahah But Romish she's not comfortable with you doing this, but you can ciss her above the neck But it's all awkward at first, but so much like it's obviously a great thing. I have an intimacy. I think so. Yeah. Some people think it takes away the spontaneity Yeah. But I think let'sakes suppos to kiss someone, that can mean so many different things. There's so many different levels of kiss. Yeah. And I think let's take away the spontaneity. Yeah, you know? I think spontotaneity in those situations can lead to problems Jimm in thevoidice for an Anatickus Ashling Asley's talked about this quite a lot as something she found incredibly uncomfortable. Not because now we get to hear your side. Not because of my behaviour. But it's just because yeah,'s un comomfortable. You don't sometometimes you don't know each other. you don't have that relationship with person yet. And then you go, I don't know if she thinks this kiss Jesus falleners She as I think you know, I don't know. I don't want one person to making it like it's reallyally difficult Yeah. exactly. And then you sort of go, well, how full long do you think this is And you know, well, I think it's quite full on. L, how full on is quite full is, you know, like quiet And then you don't want to misjudge that and then you cancel.it what I mean I mean I don't want to get cancellled forull stop. I don't want to get cancelled for that N no not going down like that. No. I'm going to go down at some point, but not that. I don't want it to be for that It's going to be that' be such a rookie way of doing it. It's going to be for throwing weird rango around. Yeah ye. By the way, I should take this opportunity to say We don't agree with the use of that term And Anybody Oz over the red headaded persuasion. think's a persuasion of the red headed breed Can I just sayope you're not offended by anything. So our use of the word ranger' use it in an ironic way and of course we respect. We're trying to shine a light on it Yeah And we respect your species completely infow. O, gllad to get that out of the way. But what I do want to say if we're about to play a little game but before we do play that game, I just want to say to you It's an incredible show. Everybody's great in it. The story is great, it's really, really funny. Okay, cool. Let's play Misquot it. so awkward in here. It's misquuoted. So this is I've got five quotes for you. Yeah. Th of them you said. Three Ied. Yeah and two of them we made up Then I'm supposed to know the difference. You don't have to know, but it's a fuck I'm guessing game. Okay. I'm gonna move this big. Okay yeah, that's good actually. that We do sell that to all the guests. Move the bag before you do this Okay. so here's your first one. Did you Or did you not? Or did you not say this? I was resistant to kissing because I felt like I was going to suffocate someone. I imagine I did say that. What a dick. What that's about is because I've got big lips. Yeah. Yeah It was always it was such a It was such a point of bullying, I suppose. You said it' a GQ in twenty fifteen. I'll give you the whole quote, if you like My' pretty embarrassed. My first kiss came very late because Oh my go. I se this to GQ. My first kiss came very late because I was so self conscious about my giant lips you just took a sneaky look at them Because it hadn't occurred to me that they were giant And then I You know similar to yours. Yeah, you've got a held I think that's like a pososit. your lips look Luscious and beautiful. Like are we gonna kiss I mean, only if you want to, not without. I think you've got a m have great lips. Thanks likewise. Thank you, man'am. I was resistant to kissing because I felt I was going to suffocate someone. St stop reading it. no it's just the whole quote. So it didn't happen uil stoped interrupting it So it didn't happen until adulthood really. The woman What a strange choice of words. The woman, she's still a friend of mine And in the end I ask a woman And in the end I had good feedback about the large lips. Yeah, I have continued to receive good feedback. Yeah. good feedb. That's good. And well deserved by the looks of them. Okay, hereere's your next one, didt you D' so embarrassing? No, I think it's good. it's honest, man. L youw think like large lipped people that are reading GQ twenty twenty. big lips, donon't worry about it. Yeah. they love it. And you love the big lips. And you can still continue to be friends with the woman I'm so sorry just spit, takeake off, Georgia. Georgie. So you're one for one, congratulations. Here's a second one Is Is it going to be increasingly embr? I'm going say looking across this, that's probably that's probably the most embarrassing. The most embarrassing answer. And I don't even think that's embarrassing Okay, hereere's a second one. I just try and seem a lot cooler now than when I It is so ye It's hard. I know it is hard. becausecause I've got the same thing where you You're trying to You know, trying toinvent No, you're not trying to you're trying to leave that behind but actually Yeah, you know, it's always there. We're all big liit guys just trying to keep in touch. Here's your next one. Did you or did you not say this People think I'm cool because I speak slowly I don't think I said that Hid in You didn't el You didn't. This is the real quote. In real life, I'm very low key on the wallflower What's I don't know. I I said it. Yeah Well, actually he says he source unknown I think I would have said that. Yeah You know it's just like the terms I've used here like the woman, a wallflower. Yeah I know exactly what I would been feeling where Ive started a sentence and you don't know where it's going and you're like Wall flower. Yeah.s a word that I would have never ever used before in my life But wallflower rel that's relatable That's relatable. I think that's the right thing say I've never I don't think I've ever said it, but I don't think I've ever said it before. All right It's cool to say something you've never said before for the first time, isn't it ust know that you've got it in the lock. Weish should try and think of a couple things we never said before and say them in this. That's a great idea. I'll say one for you. Okay God It's the mouldy word for children. Tamariki. But you've never said that before. No, I've not. How do you pronounce that? Tamariki. Tamariki? yeah There you go. Ohar. Okay, That's the first alm said that got it feels Can you feel it in the room? Yeah. Here's your next one. My spotify did you say this or do do not? My sppotify unwrapped is mostly Pince and Aber No, I don't think I would have said that. No, you didn't say that I don't listen to a whole lot A Do you not but prrince yeah. Some prints for sure. Sign of the Times. Yeah, great album. Here's the real quote Des describe this is you describing seeing Abber Voyage twice with Matt Berry Wait a minute. I've only the first time I'm sure the first time I've told people about that was yesterday. Well, it is from the Times in twenty twenty six I thought once was enough, but he's a very big Aber fan. Yeah Yeah. How How was Ive heardas anyone here seen Aber Voyage? Yeah Did he love it I enjoyed it. I actually found myself looking more at the musicians li Aatas? Right. So Abat I've heard is Aatars lovely bit of work. T Term naked yes I've heard it's incredible But I mean, I'm not an Aberhan, But even if you're not an Aber fan, it's incredible. Is that true Uh sometometimes it seems real Yeah and sometimes They look CGI. Okay. There's moments. There's moments where you believe it. But where you moved was removed It It's moving how the audience are into it. Yeah and they're reacting as if they can hear them. They go They laughing at the jokes and they're going, Yeah, you know? Yeah yeah. the audience loves Ea. Yeah U And Met Bery loves Ea. Yeah. Like really loves E. Yeah Good forat. Okay, here's your last one. Thank God I've been told I look a bit like Lord Byron a bit Someone told me I looked like Jeff Goblum I know I've been told I look like Jeff Goblin I don't know if I've been told I look like Lord Byron, but I've playedord Lord Byron in the play I'm going to say I didn't say it. So also you told me how many I said. I just can't remember. You did say it, but in character I see in character It as Vladislav. A right. So you actually did say I' Is it in the movie or in an uptake No, it's in the thing. It's in it, right? isn't it? Yeah. We should hear at that out. Why? Doesn't sound like a good bit of the movie. Do you think we look similar by the way? You and I? Do you think so?? Do you think we let somemer? Yeah. I think that people will think we look similar. Yeah, That's more don't it's not like looking in a mirror. But it's like you look like one of the guys people tell me I look white. Yeah, yeah. Yeah yeah I mean, because we start at the beginning, remember? I'm trying to call back. I' not so I'm not so good with.
