Do you have impossive syndrome? Yeah. Why do you have impossive syyndrome Because I think it's because I really love what I do and then I believe that I get paid too much money for what I do becausecause I don't it it's not an onerous job You what I mean? So then you start thinking, why have why have I been blessed with this? It feels And then you think there's lots every job I do because I do a like a few different bits, every single one I think, there's no way that I'm one of the best people to do this job. There's no fucking way. Do what I mean? I understand. So that's where the imposser syndrome comes from. Do you have it Yeah. N not in that way. I think mine is more so because we've known each other for so long and I know that When people see people see me and see, oh, that's the guy from TikTok or that's the guy from shhitsz and gigs I just see myself as the same f head that's been that went to commentary with James. likeike I don't see myself in the space. So when people come up to me or when people come up to us I want to take a picture I'm like And then yeah I crack on my day. so I don't see myself in that light My one is when I was younger when we were working like full time jobs, Yeah, and I wanted to myself onn the drive to work. podcasts were like my main thing of like release I was like, I can get through this. Were you in a really bad place? Oh genuine ro. Like I was likeking for about a year and a bit, I was stuck in like a customer service job. and my God, like I was like This actually not worth It's actually not worth getting up today Or any other day. Yeah. And then But if there was a new podcast of one of like my favorite shows was released, I was like, I can literally get through today because they have this. And then once we started and people were referencing us in that same thing, I was like, Noah, that's way too you have no idea what you're talking about. Be I know how I felt about like at that time, there's no way that you're referencing that feeling towards me Yeah, I'm just a loser Yeah, I had I've told the story before, but when I used to work as a cost analyst for an airline caterers Sorry, cost analysts for airline caterers. Yeah. Jeez. Are you aroused No I't know that is. I've never heard of as a morbid. So yeah. so they said it what would happiness, right is you know, like airline food Yeah. So an airline would come and they'd go, we want like a little lasagna on like a little lasagna on trade d da, and then the chef would tell me the ingredients and I'd tell them how much it's going cost for them to have that across their airline. That was my job And that was one of my first jobs out of UNi And I remember just like going to work thinking, I can't believe this is what my life's because I was thinking this is what my life's going to be. Yeah for the rest of my life What fucking life is I was like so sad. then one day I got up and I thought I was just going to the toilet, right? And so I went to the toilet. Yeah and I started crying, right? You shouldn't have prised. I thought I was. I thought I was just going to the point. That I. I started crying proper life. Yeah, fucking going for it. Soobbing first ten minutes of up. Oh proper crying. And then I came back to, you know, obviously I was hoping nobody else needed the you know fucking know, this is really bad. Yeah. And then. And then I came back to my desk and I sat down and carried on working and I felt like loads better Yeah And then I started doing it regularly. So what happened is ye. So every like couple of weeks Id go, it's time for me to have a toilet. I could cry And then I would go to the toilet. I'd make sure nobody else was in there Yeah. thenen I'd go in there And then I would just shut myself in one of the cubicles. wasas it okay of you felt it Bible en up, so you had to go and cry or it was like it was ra like you know, after you cry, you feel like a real release. Yeah. And so I would feel it building up. I'd get so sad about the fact that this might be what I'm doing for the rest of my life. that I'll go to the toilet and start cry becausecause at that time I've had no I didn't realize You just sort of think I've got to get a job, right? You sort of think I've got to pay the bills.. And then you go, this is what adult life you know this is what adult life is and it's so bleak andpress I cannot fucking believe And no disrespect to anybody that is passionate about beingcasts for an airline car le it. Yeah. I cannot fucking believe you do that every day. I' j what I mean is like For me is what I mean For some people, like there's some people working there that loved it, right? And I respect that But I just thought I didn't realize you could go and try and get a job that you actually you know, I just thought this is a job now. this is I as an adult. And so it would build up, build up And then I cry and then I feel better. Then eventually I realize that maybe This isn't way to live y life. I don't think this is a real. I don't think this is a good coping strategy. Yeah ye yeah. I mean, it's a coping strategy, but say then I was like, I've got to do something else. Yeah. it Regular cry interses Rough. I know I also the o Yeah, I mean, it was bad It was bad. Listen, we got your present. Okay, cool. Thank you. We got your flowers. Oh, cute This is for you? This is not the first time has this happened. Yeah What is this bit I'm trying to remember. It's not a bit. got It's a bit. Oh fuck Now that's because you I don't know why. He's finished sentence. ask us why. You know? I didn't know you werere gonna to ask good. there's no reason why. I was a good 's reason why There's a reason why. I'm going to wait the it so far.. Is there any scenario in which I was gonna to get those flowers or with these intentions? If I had picked those up second, you would have got you would have got those ones. I don't think that's. What do you think I'm getting what do you think You're gonna to do the bit in second. so I'' just patiently wait for the bit. what do I'd love you to speculate on what do you think the bit might be I don't know, dude. Giving us flowers our flowers in it? I don't know. Yeah, I don't. I' wait for it There's no bit. It's just an honest thing that like men don't give men flowers a lot and I thought it wouldd be a nice thing. The size thing, I'll be honest with you, I didn't properly pay attention. I didn't realize there was a size. Did I do these flowers? No.. Georgie got the flowers. Okay. Gorange was a favorite col Where did you hear that? I've never said that much. Oh wow.'m sorry it was reasoning again because men don't give men flowers. Ill just sa be a nice thing for you It's nice. It'sice. I think we just like we just had our guards up a little bit. So than you for these. Well Fish, you guys did do Rick Llassman's podcast where I feel like everything is a bit right Also? It's the best worst thing you'll ever know. In what way? I was just on Edge Be I didn't know about him prior to going on the show. So he just So you just heard it was you just knew it was big and so that's where you went on there No, f was like, you were think this guy's really funny. get go on his pockc. Yeah. Yeah. And he like warned me like Just so, you know, this guy just does bits. so I was just very on edge and he was always trying to make me laugh. I've got a very stoic face. If I don't find you funny, don't fuck about you.,' have a smile. I've got that website ye S He was trying his best to make you laugh. Yeah. okay and then yeah. I won't be doing that We'll see. No, but I mean, we won't be trying. Oh o. There's no bits. There's no bits. Yeah. I mean make you two laugh what a piece of bits. Jmy That's true J be generous ofatual chs. Jmy. Yeah I want to go to some sort of rehabilitation setenter and try and make them laugh, what I mean?' 's That's a proper challenge, isn't it Yeah Yeah. Do you knoworm know? Yeah fair. You know? Yeah peopleeople that like, you know, I might go to an airline cater and go to the toilet, try and make one of those guys la. Yeah, you know? Th you know you're doing something Yeah. Okay Now you've obviously got a massive online following. It's like genuinely not only like everybody I know loves you, my kids love you. you've got so massive and I think that One of the things that's so amazing about is you know, I'm coming from a generation that We I come up through television, right? and I'm coming to podcasting later And television is very much you are giving a version of yourself that fits the format or whatever, do you know what I mean? You're you're getting the romish that the TV producers and the channel have said that's what they want. You know what I mean? however authentic you're trying to be, there's always a compromise to the format.. The thing that's amazing about you guys is you just feel like we are just getting the two of you all the time. Yeah. Was there was that always the plan? Like was it or were you just doing what you doing and let's see what happens or did you go into it with like a I don't know, a set of goals, like how did you approach it? So good question actually. alsoso can I say that's so much better than just being like, how did you guys get started? Gs Thankk you for that. I the end the other day, literally a guy being like, if I have to hear your fucking O orrigin story one more time, I'm just gonna end it. wasisten, let me tell you something. I love talking about How I used to be a teacher. And what about that is applicable to you doing stand up? Fuck off. I do not want to talk about that again. No know, it's like you've got a difficult class, you've got difficult crowd, Fuck off. Yeah. Yeahious of that might have helped you with your standup. if you canind I've said in every fucking interview. Yeah. thank you for that. That's a relief U but yet the intention was only because We were having the conversations anyway, basically. and spend a lot of time together and just spending hours and hours and hours making each other laugh So I just literally just said please can I just buy a camera and some microphones? I just don't want anything to change. I just need to have this exact conversation I'm very self critical and I was like If I can find this funny Someone else will find it funny. design the least likely to enjoy. this And then that was it. I just begged for please, ple please just Exactly like that is. So were you slightly cynical about them? Yes, for sure. Because I worked in hospitality at the time. And like you said, with With working TV you get a version of yourself not the full sef similarly to working hospitality I was managing. So there was a version of myself that was perceived. so. When I'm with my friends they get like the real food had the full food had whereas when I'm at work, there's indeed, there's a version of myself that they do get. So I was worried about those two lines. Burring After a while I just didn't give a fuck and then I said, yes. And then did you straight away you felt it, right? Yeah, episode one, I was like, that's qualie. That was like really, really, really fun and it was way easier than I thought it was gonna Yeahah, it was. And then I went home and edited it and again, listened back to it. and I remember thinking, Listening to myself and watching myself is the most cringe thing I can possibly It's disgusting It' I want to It disgusting. So once I had watched that first one and laughed, even though and I thought, al right, I was the one in the room. So I'm hearing this for the second time. Yes. And and I hate myself entirely. So I'm the least likely person on eararth right now to laugh at this and I'm pissed on myself laughing. and I was like cool. I think it's going be good. you do something that works. like say something like goes over with the with the with an audience danger that you've got is then trying to emulate that right? Be I feel like that's where a lot of people that do podcasts and online stuff kind of go off the rails a little bit is where they go that fuck really popped off. Yeah. How do we what is it about that that made it really good? Let's try and do that again. Have you had that temptation, A and have you avoided it you bro such a good question. This brings us back to like when we first, first, first started getting popular There was this ick trend going around, right And to the point Anytime we spoke about X it would do crazy numbers to the point where our first like acknowledgement of people recognizing us was like, oh, it's the Iick guys. It's the Iick guys. It's the fucking Iick guys. Yeah. And I was like, o my go. that's what we' guys That's gonna be That's just shit Yeah. And it was like getting to a point where anyt timee a clip came out, well we weren't doing that, it would do shit. anyt time a clip that came out was doing that, it would do like millions upon millions of views. And it was like that weird like dichotomy of like, we're going have to make a choice right now that We hate it so much now, but It's doing numbers. And then one day we just went into a studio and I was like I' sick of it. You sick of it. And he was like yeah, And I was like, fuck, we're doing it And then just cracked fingings crossed. Yeah. and yeah it was fine. Now you're on tour. Daddy's home. We areeed, Yes. So what's it like touring It's good, don't me wrong. That sound sounded like. Can it be honest with you? It sounded like it should. It felt like a very clear signal that it should. Tor is incredible. Don't get me wrong. Tor is actually very incredible. You get to spend time with all the crew, obviously get to spend time with James on stage, off stage Go to different cities, different locations, places I've never been to before I think the the initial s was I remembember the exhaustion. That's what that ssi was. It doesn't remove anything from Tori itself. Tori is incredible because it also gives fans the opportunity to see us live, where when we do the meet and greets it's like, Oh, this is the first time they get to see us. This is the first time we get to see them So it's really rewarding to tours to be able. Is it when you first start going out on tour, I think the whole because people think You've got a big podcast following, let's just take it on the road. but it's not as simple as I like. You know I know from Josh and Rob doing parenting hell. I know that trying to turn that into a State show is a difficult thing. Yeah. It's super difficult. and it has taken like luckily we did our first live show what like three years ago, something like. So we've had a lot of time to like figure out the process and like we've made a lot of mistakes like we thought at first, oh, let's Let's do so much where like you're bringing members of the audience on and then you find out you do that too much and everyone's like, make fuck this. Yeah let's be honest, they're disappointing, are't? Yeah I've done a lot of like, let's do Q and As and then Ive brought someone on stage and it's gone shut. Yeah And that's their fault. Yeah it is their fault. Yeah. So what we try and do is like find like the perfect balance of like I feel like I am watching what I'm so used to watching at home, but literally here without it being so lazy that we are just doing that Yeah and trying to make it like as So for example, like to give you an example, there's a segment that we do on the podcast where I recap on like fantasy books that I'm reading every week. Now we've implemented that as like a really immersive like fantasy st the podcast. and it's pretty much what we do in the thing, but it's like a It's just like it takes everyone on a journey and it's like super, like I said, immersive inly and like engaging and shit like that. So it's just like funny little bits like that that we can work and indust onene of the things that I find weird about taking Pocos on tour is like They really know you, right? big time. And sometimes I don't know if you feel like this, but sometimes when we' talking about the bookers, I forget that this is for public consumption. Yes. So then you say something and then they go to me, How's Lisa? you're having sex again? Oh my God. What the fuck did you just say Yeah, it can. He always always at that Yeah a lot Yeah And then yeah, they they know how to push up. but like our typical like narrative is that like I'm just like jealous of any other friendship or relationship that he has outside of us Yeah. Is that legit It's case dependent. Yeah, it's case depend. Like, obviously wanting to have like a guy friend like and stuff like that, but yeah. O friends is D. that's the barrier's not necessary. There's one particular friend though. There is one particular friend there Toby. Yeah. and that has lasted.'s that's that joke has lasted three years. Maybe like I'm so happy no one knows what he looks like because I genuinely think that like if people just knew what he looked like walking around the street, they'd stn him. Yeah, they're st known him. the street. They actually were fucking hate to for no reason It's not no reason. But you know there's a reason's not his fault. Yeah It's not okay, it's not fult.' your fault. B better way of saying that. Are you nervous about being out and about and with somebody that looks like they might be called Tobbey? We've had that before. Yeah. Yeah we've had. Lcause some people look like more likely to be called Toby than others fair. Yeah fair R Tobbey doesn't look a Tooby.. so he gets away with it a lot. He does.' I've been with some F friends in therere like, who the fuck is out Tobbe fucking dooby. I'm like chill dude know.ust my check. Y' just from. You're both in the market for other friends? I'm not in theetitch friends? I'm not pitching actually. So you don't want to be our friend I'm not saying I don't want to be a friend, but I'm saying'm not I've not come into this N friend. So you haven't come into this thinking that I hope we're friends after this because I have. So have I So what the fuck is this then Well it's a's a book It's a prime opportunity, isn't it? A promo? It's a pro opportunity. Wow. That's what it is on the face of it. Yeah we're not talking about a face dude. Okay. We're talking about real shit. What we get pass this stupid tour segment? Yeah we're really get. What no, no Okay, Join me to be honest with you? Yeah. Okay. I'm gonna to be so honest with you. Yeah. I'd love us to be friends, right? But But Yeah. Yeah, it's always a but It's nothing to do with you personally, but it's a very difficult situation to manage your time and have enough time for friends. you know, I would say that in recent years, I've been more closed off to the idea of making new friends than have been in the past. It' not say I want to be friends with you.. But I would love what I would love is us to agree on a sort of a low maintenance arrangement. You want say casual. Yeah.. Yeah, once b No whenever it suits you No, I'm not saying wh whenever it suits me. I'm just saying like what I mean is I would love us to be friends. exchange numbers and all that. but but if we were you know, I might not get back to a text straight awayay is what I'm saying Do you what mean? Okay what's like Just manage our expectations. No. not straight away iss fine. Wh we talking. are we talking sixix hours on d days a week? M listen, it's very text specific You know, If you go, Hey, how are you doing? I wouldn't expect to hear back from you in a week t check that But if it's something really specific, that hey man, got I get your advice on something I would get back to you straight away You know, it just depends Why are we just crazy? Yeah, we just disgraceful I'd rather not hear back for you at all. let's we've exchange Iome back up. Let's say we've just exchanged numbers now and I'm like, o, hey, how you doing? Thank you for having us like a show bl blah. Yeah, that would be. Instantly you would. Yeah. pretty much like a Tikok L's a good tk. be honest, I' probably block you. Really? What's a really, really funny to. No, if it's really funny tikTok, then I'll you know, probably get a laughing face on Mj. Okay. be one. but depends what it is. Okay C might be two All right, fair enough. take it, man. You're hard to paseake st. No but it's not that's not hard to p is it? G, you're pretending now You like? I don't give up my number that much, so I understand what you're saying. Yeah, there You know what I'm saying? I mean deserious. has it like about the friendship thing it? Yeah,'. I'd love to be friends Yeah But there's a caveat There's not caveat I'm just he just wants to managizeed forates that he's not Like friends friends is are a loose It's an acquaintance. Okay so are you at text? what your text are Straight away? Yeah, N you. Pretty decent yeah Okay. But like not like beggy. No, no I you've got a very beggy vibe actually.'t have that about you. I don't detect a thirst. That was decent. But you know like, but you know sometimes I would say I'm one of the people that like and this is bad. I'm not proud of this I get distracted with other things and then it might be like I'll suddenly start replying and then there'll be about ten minutes where I'm replying instantly. And then I'll go offline again. Do you know what I mean? That kind of. what we haven't discussed initiation Because the narrative is very, I'll reply, I reply. Why are we you always chasing? Also true. Would you initiate a conversation? Yeah, of course it would. yeah. Really? Yeah. What What do you say? Like what would how would you open? Yeah what's the? What's the open message Good question. G question. I mean, would also sorry would be ye, would you treat this as one Frenchhip or individual Frenchhip? Good question. Would you group chat us? Yeahould you ch us in a group chat? I bet you fuck you would. you you wouldn't say anything. Y face My face didn't say anything man My face doesn't say anything. You ask anybody that's directed to me in a scripted thing In truth, no, I would treat you as individuals, but like, you know, in terms of Which one of you I would text when? just I would have to know what kind of things, you know, you're different people, right? So there's certain things that might appeal to you more or might appealed to you more. So I'd learn. I'm like AI. stuff orrange stuff you'd send to Fhs. Exactly. Yeah. You get all my colour stuff Nice. What do you think of this I saw a sunrise. It reminded me of your favourite colour What do you think? picture. I like the initiation. Yeah. there you go You myself. you might be u I'm getting ink today In Oh like that ye. I I thought you got Richard Partat, that's right yeah ye Yeahah to remind people of better comedians. That's hard whenever they look at me. I don't think they need a reminder but I get the point. Yeah. Yeah, I don't think I'll reply to you quickly. I. Okay, this honest, I've never talked about this much Okay, you talk I find I sometimes find a text a bit of a burden to be honest of you. C I to respond to or to receive? I'm thinking about switching to a brick. So you're just offline a lot. Well, I just feel like I'm too distracted by my phone. I feel like it's a pressure when people get in touch you. I would describe myself as an empath. If somebody messages me give I think fuck that person wants a reply And then you get a few messages you think fuck and then what I end up doing is rather than dealing with all of them, I deal with none of themstand. And then I'm sending apologies, J and all of that And so it gets a it gets a bit difficult. Okay. thatakes sense. And also you want your friends to feel like they're being valued You know? Okay cool, you know, But I would love us to be friends. We're going to follow up after like the mic come off and I would love that. Okay cooluine I genuinely love that I'm just saying it for this pre opportunity I'm saying didn't believe it. Why are you doing that?'t believe Y your sk school? Why you sove it? I just I don't like the way you end it sometimes. there' p of opportunity. D't say stop cly tryning w a lot more revs actually This episode is brought to you by Alison Steve, a new Hulu original series exclusively on Disney pllus. My friendships are very important to me, my mates have stuck with me through the good times and the bad. Together we faceed triumphs, losses and gone from boys to men. some of them That's arguable. Friendship is one of the most important things in my life, apart from Lisa kids my Mum, Dinesh, hip hop, the dogs Asenal foootball cllub, an ice house, my trainer collection. The list goes on. One of the things that would cause me to end a friendship would be is somebody who's a close friend like Rob Beckett borrowing a pair of my new trainers and wearing them for some sort of dance off. I can't imagine that's something he'd do But it would be putting my shoes in jeopardy and therefore the friendship. But that, my friends, is small f I compared to Alice and Steve A new six spot comedy series from the producers of Baby Reindeer, which can only be described as the ultimate Romcom. Alice and Steve are lifelong mates until Alice's adult daughter sleeps with Steve Let that one sink in. I mean, can you imagine Can you imagine I can only imagine because I wouldn't do anything like that mainly because of lack of opportunity. Oh interesting, I've not heard this, so let's see Hi guys, I'm Ramichi's mom Young at heart I know you're a very successful young man talk very openly on air podcasts Sorry to be a bit rude One thing I really said on our podcast was that I never go for number two in a public toilet. We have any personal rules like that Have a blessed day L That's so cuteness. Okay, so what do you like about shitting? I would prefer to shit at home Yeah. Have I shat in public? Do the studio count as public or studio?'s a community as studio. It's a communal bathroom so that does count as public, but ye I also treat it like it's my mom second So And what do you mean? The studio? The studio ide yeah. So outside of that Sometimes I have to unmad the ID. Eespecially the last few years. Jim. I haven't spoke about this. Jim. Jim, I have a lot of caffeine and it fucks me up. Yeah Jim, I would say so pllaces I frequent Yeah. so Third space is my third home. My workork is my second home and home is home. Those are the three places I shit. Okay. you' three places you shit But what if you were having a day out of meetings and stuff like that and I needed to shit? Yeah, what happens I'll do what I need to do, man It depends need a shape. Like is it shin Is my stomach cutting Oh I have to I'll find like a Starbucks sign now I won't be proud of Starbucks. Anything, dude Do don't they have to give you a code and stuff? Yeah. I'll buy water. I'll buy water. I don't want to go there. I'm asking no No. There's no judgment You know what? I went Oh my go, I went. We did a hot ones challenge y other. Oh my go. And I had to pull over into a pub And then I had to promise that I would buy a drink afterwards and I was stuck in there for twenty five minutes And afterwards I was too embarrassed to go back to the bar b mean, what the fuck?. What the fuck? Yeah. So I think you might need my fuck Yeah I ran out. I I ran out. So look, hold on, Joe, So youre just check the morals of this You went in the teaser toilet. that said if you buy a drink. He said I promise you, I'll buy a drink. You then let seven shades of hell out of your ar for twenty five minutes and your reward to them sur It taken a much longer shit nearily buy drink Yeah. I was feel p that I didn't give him the chance to tell me how to buy a drink. beforefore he even opened his mouth, I said, I will buy a drink. Okay. If you just tell me where the bathroom is and then he was like, yeah, it's back there. And then I just didn't follow through on my promise That's through shame. I should just go back and just do it. I would because I clearly still feel guilty about it. was three and a half weeks ago. Yeah. Yeah. it's difficult. I find it difficult. often use hotels Are you going into a hotel just to shit Yeah, in like the lobby, toilet or Yeah. Sometimes I'll trust S sometometimes Ill pretend I'm on the phone and going whereere are you? Because often have meetings in hotelere That's a great tactic. I'm not gonna lie this tch. How are you been using that? Quite a well, because the problem was is that when I started to get more recognizable, the door staff would chat to you And then you go back he's made a mental log now one I've arrived. Okay. And then if I emerge likeike eleven minutes later, which is my average time, then he's going to know that guy's like It' a hot one. Yeah. o no, I will sorry to interrupt. I will wait uil the last minute because it will just cut down that time Do you ever do that? Okay, a little piss period. Yeah, yeah. Oh like a long piiss. That's a good chure. Yeah that's I'll try to do. I'll do I always do a courtesy flush as well. Nice. Do that? Yeah ye, you have to, right? Yeah, it's just manners. Gestures isn't a good gesture. Yeah. But anyway, that wasn't actually my mom's question. My momum's question was I forgot about that. Do you have any personal rules H personersonal rle. So she doesn't do a number two in public. Oh this is just this is not toilet related. It doesn't have to. if that's, if that's your sweet spot, No, that's fine Aome ros. When we say hello to or people say hello to us in public, I try and spot them I' supped to hand shake them. Okay. justust like hands sny situations. Yeah I go. It's quicker, faster. Even if they're like this, I stay like this. I don't. I don't budge. Yeah, you can't budge.'t'tud You can'tld. Yeah, they manipulate me all the time and then we get into one of these Yeah. You can't fold situations just remain stern and then they switch and then boom. cool have a good day How much conversation are you willing to accept from somebody that comes up to you as a member of the public? Depends on the conversation. alsoso depends on the scenario. So for example, let's say we've just finished a show People have tried to meet us like backstage afterwards, whatever, like when we're trying to leave to go back to the hotel, more time there's people waiting to take pictures. We would entertain a group of people for like ten to fifteen minutes before we leave. But if we're walking, let's say we were coming here today and someone stopped us. after asking for a photograph and if they want to have more and more conversation, I'll bel Appreciate you, but, we need to Okay We need to go somewhere. I'll be courteous with it. I' just like. Have you ever been rude? That's what I really want to get to I don't think Oh, have I? Not intentionally Okay, It's clear when you're not in the mood. I know you Yeah, but yeah I would never I would never say rude blunt I am I can You've got that in your locker ye yeah. So what happened? Very true. This is this is multiple occasions. This is all the time. It's more like People be like, oh my god, I love you and Black and he'll say the words, but he doesn't't he doesn't doesn't no emotion yet. Yeah. some be like, Oh my god I love book got so much in here, but I thank you Barb, I appreciate And they're like, I can It gra a picture name black. Yeah I can imagine your product qu sim much. I have that even when I'm very excited to see them. Yeah, that's the issue I've got is that I don't It's I find it difficult. I actually also find it slightly embarrassing. I think it's the same thing that you said When somebody has that reaction to you, you know who you are. Yeah so the idea that they would have that that relationship with you feels so alien. So then I get really embarrassed becausecause sometimes people say really like Amazing amazing stuff about what your work has done for them. And then what do I say? Yeahah, that makes sense. Yeah Yeah Is good. Yeah you're the fullont all of the sud. You can't you can't do that So they me to you like that money. You just start to get a bit like and it comes for me because of the way I am Yeah I can imagine it comes cross ros. I will say Thanks, really that really means a lot whatever but I don sound like I do think that. Yeah, I actually we had a lady on the meeting group the other day who said, Wow, astoundingly nice things. I worry that I sound sarcastic because I'm trying to be like genuine, but I can't ever match the gravity of what you're saying So I'm just like Wow Wow hear myself like you sound like a sarcastic prick I just don't know what else to say. So I end up just hugging them as much as I possibly can.'s good. and hopefully that. get across, but there are too many hugs you can give Yeah, obviouslyim there is a limit. Yeahah. Al like your fans are like hard cons. I would say I've got more casuals Do you know what me? That's fair? That's.'ve,'ve got hardcore fans whereas I've got You know, do you prefer that though What would you prefer I think it depends on what if they watched this or my stand up They've got a then they invested, right? Yeah because they really know. Whereas if they watch on weakest link You know, And they go, I really like your on weakest link. that's like going, you know, what the fuck does that mean? Yeah like though to an extentason No, but they're not actually a fan of me It's like, oh my Godd, it really moved me the way you ask those questions at the podium and then tell that person that they should have got that right. Likes that's not an investment in you As a person, should you just go, yeah, cool, I'm glad you like the show. and it's mainly a format thing and to be honest with, anyone could tast it. You know, that is the honest truth. You just have to be able to read out loud You know, so so that's a bit of a different thing where it's like because I'm friends with a few musicians and when I get recognized more than they get recognized long time when they do get recognized, the relationship that person has with them is You know, it's like you changed my life. Yeah it's big. it's really big. whereereas there'll be like Rjes L you on Well the fuck happened to League in our own. Yeah. I actually I preferred it with Whitele. Anyway, see a lot mate, you know, it'd be like Yeahah, yeah Ragash. Yeah. I get raadjish a lot. Really? I've got somebody com to and go, you know, you look a lot like Ramish Ranganphan I said yeah, I get that a lot And then they tell me what they thought of his career And didid you agree I did I had to. Yeah had to. What I amm not supposed to do? I I think he's a bit snary on the travel show go. yeah ike there's dry humor and there's just you're not funny I' start joining in. I'm shewing myself. wouldn't make me crying the This conversation how good. But my agent was with me who', you know I've been with for a long time. She said to me you deserve that Why? She said what like she said in a fun she's going Why did you do that? Why did you just say Oh. Now you have to listen to this guy review your entire fucking catalogue. you know what I mean? Yeah I had one thing where I was in a pub and I was with a few mates And I meet up with like my mon back home like once like twice a year or something. We have a big night out. These lads come over and can we get a photo of big fans? I said, Yeah. I think I know it's a bit weird, but is it right if we like have a couple of drinks of you join you for a bit And obviously, that is unacceptable. that's very weird. That is I don't think I anything worse. Yeah. I just said to them, I was honest with them. I said that is a shit idea. Yeah. I said, because what I'm here with my friends, I don't know you too The more you speak to me, the less exciting this will be because you'll start to get right now you're excited to meet's the peak. If I leave this is as good as this interaction Yeah. If I leave now, you've got a great story. If you stay, then you realise what I'm actually like. Yeah. you realise what I actually think about my work, you realise why I think about you for the stuff that you like Yeah And they've just become sh your heroes do Absolutely. Yeah, I worry a lot that I'm super underwhelming people Why? Well, because like when I'm with you I'm just like, like funny, funny funny. This is Yeah version. And then when they see me, especially because I'm the more animated one out the two of us. It's like they expect a certain vibe from you Yeah and another vibe from me whereereas like I'm super introverted. So if you meet me, I am very much just like Yeah, but I do think that's I do think you scratch the itch when you're doing your podcasts. I scratch the itch when I'm doing stand upp. Yeah. So I don't have a desire to be center of attention when I'm not doing those things. Yes. And so then somebody comes and talks to you and they go, How come you're not all singing or daning?? Well how come you're not making pizza now? Yeah Yeah literally. I think that you sort of get rid of that. you almost get rid of that, Do I mean? And so then when I'm at a pub, I've had people tell me I'm disappointing in person. And they're right They are right though because because they want you to be like on Yeah. Do you know what I mean? you're just not gonna be Yeah also res lot. They're a fucking stranger. Also true. You're a stranger. How how many strangers a day do you just apart from me that you're stopping me Yeah that you just like You're just on for a random street The maddest one where actually it wasn't the maddest one but it wass one that pops into as I was in a card shop And this woman came in and she said, My hband's outside. He's with a push chair, but he really wants your photo. Can you come out and do the photo with him? And I was like, Yeahah, sure So come up but'm in the obviously I'm in a car shop. There are ten minutes I've got to make this selection, right? it's super late. So I'm stressed. I go out to do the photo. And then she goes to me, So you're a comedian, right? I go, yeah. she goes, it's just You haven't really been I was expecting you to be funnyer in this. What? And I was like, That's insanity. I could I couldn't fucking believe it. Oh my god. People's expectations are crazy. I was like, Well, I was buying a card I said, I've come out in and take the photo. I said, I've got no gear on that. Y Yeah Yeah just it. Yeah. Oh, that's fucking man. is it because you guys like with like the cold babies like they They pay. Does that make it harder You know, if especially if it's like with those guys, do you feel like you Notith with them, but you know what I mean?' our pressure. I think like when they introduce themselves and they're like, o, I pay your a patreon or I'm a baby or whatever, there is like a barrier that drops down and I realize that A I this person is invested. You invested. sure invested do actually feel like, oh, I do I literally do o Yeah. Yeah. and I want to make I want to make the effort for them to have like the experience. But then there's other times where we went to watch someone like we went to like the Apollo one time to watch someone And then on the intermission we went upstairs to get drinks.. And on the way down, we must have had to take fifty photos Yeah and I was losing it. And then we get down to the bottom of the stairs and some woman's like Don't know who you are. Whatever. I saw everyone taking pictures, made me grab a picture and I was like Nah m that's f. Yeah, No I't no what's nowah And then she was like,, very funny. And she just went like to take the picture. and I was like D you out the way theamer was like dud No. Yeah att the very least ask someone or like do do like make the smallest amount of effort before you take something from me right now Yeah. And that's like the only that's the only difference is when as soon as someone's like Oh James who had like you at least know enough to be like, I know their name. And I'm more than happy to always be like, fuck yeah, like let me try and make an effort. But when they're like, o I feel like I know you. wereere they doing that as a bit? becausecauseuse sometimes I have people come up and go There some people over there said that you're famous. I don't know who the fuck you are. This woman I't think it was a bit. She was She was eightty four years old. She had no clue. Yeah, she had no clue Yeah. And she was like I'm taking this fucking picture with, like,' And then show it to who? literallyiterally literally. She was lessiterally like, probably I think she literally said I'll probably get some branding points from like my nieces and nephews or something. I'm sure they'll know you, but I'm taking the picture. I was like nah dude Yeah. I had a thing where I did I did a stand every now and again I like think of ten minutes a new shit and I just findone up I like go can I come to the club tonight and try this stuff and it's a Sunday night. I was at home with Lisa and the kids And I I've got this bit, I do want to go and try it. So I first a moment ago, can I come down to the club and try this out? And I was thinking fuck I'm giving up a Sunday evening, but I'm convinced by this bit, right? Yeah. So I went to the club D did the bit absolutely died like eight shit for ten minutes. I tucked into it. knife and for f everything right there Properly fucking So as I'm doing it I cannot fucking believe I have left my wife and children to come and fucking eat shit in front of this audience. Yeah. So I was pissed off. and then after I did my set, I was like, I've got to get the fuck out of it Even being in this room is depressing. So I'm walking like through the crowd and these three lads come up and go, I'll make rums. Can we get a photo? And I go, ye sure. So I'm sitt with the photo, and I'm just stood there like I need to go, I need to go. I'mving a fucking episode, b And then the guy goes, Are you going gonna to smile or what? And then I went, do you want this fucking pho?! I just instantly said it without thinking I just snapped in the moment Am in I was like a fuck. And then I took the photo and I walked away and I thought, that's three people now. Yeah that forever If anybody mentions me or anything they're going go that guy's a fucking helmet. I a helmet. And I respect I do get it. because that's a thing you don't I think you like listen, I know it's a bit like complaining that your diamond shoes are too tired about getting recognizing all that B You have to as soon as you're meeting somebody that, you have to be aware that this is this is one of a number of occasions like this for you. This is the one time this might be the one time in their lives they're going to meet you. It's really tricky just. It's super difficult to navigate and I think we try our best to have like a real low barrier of entry of like what we think is like call and not call and what we're trying. But the idea outright telling me it don't know who I also don't give a fuck. Yeah. Is that's enough for me to be. No I'm good. but yeah, we try we will say because like there's times there's times where like You be in a solo act, don't how you do it. Most people from solo act don't how do it because I need this guy so badly Vice versa. like at that same time when we were taking picture after picture out after aicture of a picture of Rider and I would turn to him and like. Dude? Yeah. I'm like I'm l. And I was like having him like that. and then I need him there to be like, bro, it's cool.'s. We're gonna to get through this. And like I think if I didn't have him, I would just never, ever leave my house ever, ever, ever. But then monetizing the friendship as you have done, rightight Yeah That's what lamel say Yeah Does that sometometimes when you make something work turn something into work, it can jeopardize it. L how have you found that negotiate in that friendship? I don't think anything we've done has jeopardized our friendship. Because we've understood each other for so long, he's one of those ones where I understand his strengths, he understands my strengths and we just know what works best for business and sometimes a lot of the time to be honest, the business doesn't affect our friendship.. The friendship affects our business in a positive way. R So yeah, it's never really the other way around. So you've never had a thing where like you've never fallen out anything. No like I was sayon this because he's annoyed. He's bored. wants to go it As soon as he said no's a fuck. a f now I'm gonna hear about it J solid. I fuck're so solid enough' ever conft. It's just fucking what a load of shit. Anyway, I That's Yeah. I hear if I can get the scissors out for this there was more conflict Why? I don't. I'm just trying toease arg. Iish the sentence. is fucking what? I lost it. I don't know. You seem like a real nice guy What? What' you gonna to say? Sorry. I didn't want to say anything. Nah. there's nowah There's just never been anything. There's just like for one. You are a big part of that. You're the most easyg person of all time. Wh which can be annoying sometimes. The only time we have spats is where I feel like he just does not give a shit And There' be times where like I feel bad because there's so many times where you're like, I'm fuss, I'm not fs and that makes like our lives easier overall where we can be like, ye cool c, cool And there be other times where you're be like, I' not fast and I'll be like, can you fucking be fast for once Like actually be fast.. But it never turns into argument because you're just like, he's bro, it's so jaring. You can go to him be bl like I'm sickking this and he'll be like undernderstand why you feel that way. And then mate I'm so like that, manate. Yeah, b I'm soing to get a res out of here bro. l But when I'm done, I'm done Al Oh really? Oh my God we had to shut the other day. Yeah that we nearly had an argument. We nearly had an argument the other day. So we we set on now Okay, get it rolling. This is the shit this is up this hasn't come out yet, but we did a like roller disco Um, We have this like series on Patreon called like SNG does, so we just try a different shit and we tried roll it disky the other day yeah. And we had this like roller skating instructor like teaching us this whole routine and everything like that. And literally thirty seconds into Land's routine, Furad took the gnarliest fall all time. It took both my legs his legs were like above his end. Yeah and I landed st Straight on my shoulder. Yeah Yeah. He up that I'm done. I'm done And we' like, ye And we werere like, No, no, no, like, We've got like three hours more to do. He's like, I'm done. And then there was no there was no moving here. Not at all. Soly we had to adapt. So you've made something out of it. Yeah we made something out of the a and we had to like get him to do like a completely different routine It wasn't like moving around. Okay, so you you did compromise that compromise the ad Yeah. it was looking tchy. Yeah. I just I wasn't smiling anymore I was so fucking done. G I think that fall made me realize, oh, this is what I do to earn money. Yeah, that was that was my moment of realization. I'm a fucking joke. No. If I make money because I'm a fucking joke. . Can I tell you something? Can I say something? It fucks me off so much. No R I relate to this so much, man. man No huck your thow Oh I was just. I relate to this so much. when we do Robber Rummish firstvers. is's like what youre doing. And then we did Winter Olympics, right? Oh shit. And go and do this thing and you shit this thing, and go do this thing and you shit this thing and then you look at the production team and like this Yeah And we go We're fucking clowns Yeah in a good way. we're just fucking cl. I remember once we did a ballet, right?ight. And we went in and put the training costumes on, we came out And they said, this is fuck gold. I said, We've not done anything yet. I said, What what you're saying is we look like he's out. And that's what's good for the show. That's what's got to go viral. Fuck. I had that well we were doing a travel show and they wanted us to learn skiing And so they want me to do a bit L a segment while I'm skiing I fell over I like this is over. You know what producers like? Well, yeah, no, we get your concerns. We're just wondering let's how about how about we loop around and we get into us said No. Yeah No Yeah I said you're going gonna have to fucking brown up one of these buzzns Be Is take my place. I' D skinall. even that's how I felt on the that is exactly how I felt on the hot ones one that we did. Oh yeah, yeah in the bathroom p my murked like tears streaming on my face couldn't stop vomiting. Like I had such serum pain like in my organs and I'm like, yeah it's over. I'm not eating another fucking chicken wing. And everyone was like, Yeahah, you are though. Yeah because. I was likeuck! youuck you all doe. I'm dying. I am dyings a lot. They're like, n,'re just like, keep going And then that was my realization of like, what are we why are we doing man? And then he starts seeing himself as a commodity. Yeah. And then you start looking in mirror going, these people are gonna give a fuck about b. They see f Poio. Yeah. Yeah,'s what I'm saying. Bro solobats couldn't do it. Yeah. Becauseuse I need you there to reassure me that yeah, we're in this together because I couldn't believe When these were like, Yeah, eat my wings, bro. Keep going Who cares about your poops? Now one of the things to be I want to be completely honest with you, when I first saw your clips I thought I thought you're funn But There's always a caveat under. come on When I first saw the clips, I thought you were funny But I wondered if you were like Laddie, right? too be honest with you. when when I first saw your clips up, what I mean by that is like Do you what I mean? And then when I watched him more, I realized actually what you're doing is really fucking important actually. and I actually you know, I'm a father of three boys and I think that them watching you is actually a really positive thing because what you're showing is male friendship and and I want my and I want my kids to to accept too be open to what male friendship involves and all of that. And I think that it's clear that you're really good friends, but I think the stuff that you talk about is beneath all the laughter and all of that and I know that's the main thrust of a what you do. ' two people that will talk about anything and be open to each other and be open about your love for each other, do you know what I mean? And I think that's a really positive thing. D Is that genuine, I do think that is that something that happened organically or is that just because that's how you guys are as friends? And how important I imagine you've got blokes coming up to you saying a version of what I just said to you in terms of your friendship. Is that something you feel strongly about? So I would say Me personally, James is more open outside of the pod to talk about like appreciate your bro, love your bro type situation. whereereas I slowly started to adopt that norm norm of mentality during the show. I felt like We've we've been friends for such a long time and we've always appreciated each other for such a long time. but I think once we got into business with each other and actually started to grow as a company and grow as a business, it really made me double down on how much I actually care for this guy and like want to show my appreciation and sometimes talk about it on the show or even like send him a message or what not. He's more of that way naturally whereas I had to like learn how to be that way a bit more, which is also a good thing. Yeah Yeah. I mean it's tricky because I feel like U I'm probably a bit more like you in terms of I do really care about people and you know, I love my friends and stuff, but I'm not necessarily I wouldn't necessarily express it as much as I should do. And sometimes My friends have to train me to do it. Do you know what I mean? Yeah yeah And actually it looks like you don't care, but you do. And that's something that I've I've u Not struggled, I wouldn' say, but don't I don't give out a lot, I mean? And I think actually It's good to be able to share those sort of things. It's good to let people know what you feel and stuff like that. And I think that You know, men, like men and women, but men men get lonely, Do what I mean? And I think sure And I think seeing being seeing friendships work and men looking after for each other, I think is a really important thing, right? Yeah Thank I think we got like super lucky in our friendship group because like the main crux of our friendshiproup there's five of us And I don't know how we got into the cycle of it, but very early on we were just like super open about shit that we were struggling with and like U I know for me I've always been someone that like I can only cope difficult situations by making a joke out of it. And I think that like Very early on we were that way inclined. but anything like tragic that was happenving in our lives would be like You guys will never guess what will just happened. Yeah. Whereas most people would just be like, I want to be in my room alone and just quiet. Yeah. I would need to be there like You never guess that I just found out that my girlfriend' been fucking this guy. I would need that to like happen and haveone get the lau out. And it just became this like cyclical habit of everyone just like being very open about their feel ins and super supportive. and it was only later on in life. where I had other friendships, where like I had one guy that comes to mind who's a close friend of mine And he had been in a relationship for like a year and a half andli And one day like he just, he was telling me as to how utterly miserable he was and how depressed he was and how like he can't go to work in the morning. He's down like a stone of weight because he's suffering so much. And I was like, down dude like whoo have you been talking to? And he wass like, whoo the fuck am I supposed to talk to? Yeah yeah. And I was like, What What? Yeah? Did you know have friends? he was like Like they'll just rip the piss out of me. Like I can't talk to my friends. And I was like, fuck dude. Like I didn't know that's just like normal male friendships. like dudes just like take it on and they can't talk to their girlfriend about it because they'll be a pussy donon't want to talk to their like mom about it because why am I crying to my mom? You can't talk to their friends about it because they' just rip the pisss out of them and they's just like, I do think men have improved. I do think so. But I think that we're still in a situation where if you wanted to talk to one of your male friends about something, you'd have to talk to them on a one to one basis. because if you bring it up in a group God help you.. Yeah rest your soul Yeah you understand. You got yourself a unickname one hundred percent. You'll fuck. Yeah. No Any of those people that were joining becausecause a lot of the time when men are taking the piss out of one of the group, they're just so delighted it's not them. Yeah a hundred percent They will just zero in and fuck You to d. Yeah. If it means that the focus is not on me Yeah. But if you took any one of those people and spoke to me individually, they would be I do feel like they'd be like shit man. I don't know hundred agree. That was like a video we reacted to the other day where a guy was bringing a tray of beers to his mates and he tripped and dropped them and everyone was like, Oh dick it. and one of his mates just went round and just p stipped his pants. let' finish him I that is gu presresents to. F Have you like been across like the manosphere and all of that and not as much as I probably should have. I don't know why I should have, but like now Not really haven't haven't watched the do. I haven't watched It's we had Louis on the podcast. I was just I was just wondering just because it's like I think that I just think when you imagine a lot of your fans are young men, you what I mean? My boys are sort of lucky enough that they I say lucky enough. I don't know. they think that all those they're not into it in that way, but I think it's like a An ongoing thing, isn't it? this whole manosphur thing You know, like in terms of men, look, in terms of what men's Desired outcomes are, which is smashing as much as possible Having an amazing car being allowed to chereat as much as you like without your other you know, all of those kind of things are might being upheld as the things. But if you've not looked into it, there's no reason why I should. Okay. We're going to play a little game now called MisQuoted It's misquuoted. Okay I'm gonna say five things that one of you might have said and you just ask exam sure whether you said it or not I think Okay. I think I'll be good at this. I'm not so sure. Okay Are you ready?
