Oba Chandler | The Devil of Tampa Bay
In this episode of The Serial Killer Podcast, the host explores the dark life and heinous crimes of Oba Chandler, known as the "Devil of Tampa Bay." The discussion traces Chandler's path from a troubled, abusive childhood in Ohio to his escalation into a calculated predator. After a history of petty crime and fraud, Chandler moved to Florida, where he used his job as an aluminum siding contractor and his manipulative charm to gain access to victims. The episode focuses heavily on the 1989 murder of Joan Rogers and her two teenage daughters, Michelle and Christie, who were kidnapped while on a vacation and eventually found bound and drowned in Tampa Bay. The host details the innovative but daring use of billboards featuring Chandler’s handwriting, which finally led to his identification and conviction. Beyond this tragedy, the episode reveals Chandler’s connection to the murder of Iverliss Berrios-Begueris, identified through DNA evidence years after his 2011 execution. Throughout the episode, the host emphasizes the intelligence and lack of remorse that defined Chandler, while highlighting the resilience of the victims' families and the investigators who refused to let their cases go cold.

About This Episode
The crimes were escalating. In November 1968, he was caught peeping through a woman's bedroom window in the dead of night, and not just watching. He was caught pleasuring himself while spying on her, his violation of her privacy turning into something more sinister. In 1969, he broke into a Cincinnati beauty salon and stole twenty-one wigs worth over thirteen hundred dollars, a strange crime that seemed to speak to his desire to transform himself, to become someone else. In 1976, he and an accomplice broke into a couple's home in Daytona Beach, Florida. The couple had been spotted earlier on a boat carrying what appeared to be a large amount of cash. While his partner tied up the husband with electrical cable, Chandler dragged the wife into the bedroom, made her strip to her underwear, and slowly ran the barrel of his revolver across her stomach. A cold, calculated act of psychological torture.

Bradley Robert Edwards | Claremont Serial Killer - Part 1
In this episode of The Serial Killer Podcast, host Thomas Rosland Weiburg explores the unsettling history of the Claremont serial killer case, which plagued Western Australia for decades. The narrative centers on the suburban community of Claremont, a place that projected an image of safety and order, which was shattered by the abduction and assault of young women throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. The podcast provides a detailed account of the harrowing ordeal of a victim known as Lisa, who was abducted in 1995 after a night out. Her story serves as a chilling case study of the predator’s methodology and the subsequent investigative failures that allowed him to continue his attacks. The episode also chronicles the disappearance of Sarah Spiers, who vanished near a payphone in the early hours of 1996. By contrasting these personal stories with the broader pattern of assaults in the area, the host illustrates how a series of potential warnings and sightings were overlooked by authorities. This episode sets the stage for a deeper investigation into the crimes of Bradley Robert Edwards, examining the transition from an unsolved mystery to a long-overdue identification.
Lee Choon-Jae - The Night Walker
In this episode of The Serial Killer Podcast, host Thomas Rosland Weiburgh examines the haunting case of Lee Choon-Jae, the perpetrator behind the notorious Hwaseong serial murders. Between 1986 and 1991, ten women were raped and murdered in the rural Gyeonggi Province of South Korea, a series of crimes that paralyzed the nation and defied resolution for decades. The podcast details how the killer exploited the rural landscape, turning familiar paths and rice paddies into sites of horror. The episode explores the disastrous, high-pressure investigation that initially failed to identify the culprit, leading to the wrongful imprisonment of an innocent man. It discusses the profound social impact of the murders, which stripped a once-trusting community of its sense of safety. Through the lens of modern forensic science, the host recounts how, in 2019, DNA evidence finally unmasked Lee Choon-Jae, who was already serving a life sentence for an unrelated murder. The discussion highlights the legal complexities of the case, the institutional reforms that followed, and the tragic, lingering reality that, due to the statute of limitations, justice for these specific crimes remains imperfect.
