I don't know how you are in the beat rate, but I can't stand it as much. This my lovely Mry Oum here doesn't do well We've been here four days. The airc' b inside, but as soon as you step outside, you just get you slap in the face W the humidity. I've changed three times Other other media I keep slagging this because I'm the one that walks in theed room and comes back at my different te show I gave my own Ron Ronny, Ronny, Ronny, what factor are we waiting for the sunshine out there in New York H it three hun? And factor emulion. I what I' calling it thatll JulLox sponsored by I think I'm trying out branding a sponsorship with JulLox just to keep my own m. face. I wit you've enough to. I need you speak to Calum because Calum you dropped a bombshell there And I think you've you've drank enough for the last two weeks. And yes, the bosses are listening and yes, the bosses are expecting you to to deliver some quality news output podcasting, news from the team Ns from the fans, but you're out there enjoying yourselves as well B sounds of it, Callum Yet, listen, you and willll say is we never shk away from the hard work. But at the same time, we wantna play hard. And listen, I'll say it, right and I'll whisper it, but ares three are of the most important things about STV just now so we can kind of get away with murder at the moment. It's quite good Us three are the most important people within SSTV at the moment I think so. Well, you too, and then I'm slightly f on the list, but you take my point Because everybody remembers the third person of Ant and Dck, don't you Very good R Ronie Ronnie Now we're very honest on this podcast, aren't we? So Ronnie, I'm going to ask you a question and I want an honest answer from you How hungover are you this morning Oh, I find this moment, no, no. So last night, what did was he last night? we went into shut. So we are actually staying And in the town of Matthews. am in the city center of Charlotte. So we're in this lovely little small town And so lastly, Because tomorrow this afternoon they move on to Boston. and We thought, R, we're going to Chall the say say with an N, I probably had the worst pizza and my life I had I shared a bottle of Rosie wine with the lovely Shaban from Topksport And then went up the road because Calumbell was a bus stall. I wanted to stay out. So the big Dravado man who's saying, oh we're drunk drunk, drunk was giving me the eyes over the table last say, canan we go home now? bit the wells. You know why come. know I had to get you know I had to get home. H had to check in with Cara. Right I Sorry, sorry, can use both rap it? I'm happy to get slagged when I'm on the same continent as you. But see when I'm across the pond you can both shot your puffs, right? G manyip times how many times in a we cara. I'll be honest to you, and I've triple texted her and she's not replied so she doesn' she doesn't even want to talk to me at the moment. I wouldn't want it to b it Callleen because I'm taking it for lunch later. I will fly home, Yan, and I will slap that pad off your big stupid heat. all right? down. So what else have I forot to tell you Ywan in the camp? Oh yesterday Yesterday we had the and It's become a tradition now, the SFA media staff on the journalists a game of football. How did I go? Well. I'm glad you asked Obviously my footballing abilities are as good as Calumbeel's presenting abilities. So what I've decided to do is the referees? stop it. I was the Wy colum So I was I thought I my own performance, I thought I was firm but fair. where the players No talk back D't brandish one yellow card So I was quite, you know relaxed And the biggest news of all is that the journalists beat the SFA five goals to four That's sc we goals to four it was quite heated by the way. And there was a couple of the journalists on our team who remain nameless who We're all big and all talk and then three minutes out in the game buildulled up we engineered had to go last Do we know S Jess There was one from the SFA who we really can't probably mention because I don't really me. I'm joking. So you' even doing it in the heat right? I wasalking as a referee, I was walking around with Callums at F factor fifty spray. I was just constantly walking around it and every time there was a fee kick I was using the factor fifty spay on the pitch the So it's been d and anic stop what you throwing to us No need you give a penal? No, I gave three three kicks. There was two controversial goals for either side because it was rolling subs, the SFA were trying to make subs. when the journalists put up the field and scored And then there was a dodgy offside on seven of sides. You don't know of sides on seven of sides. Eactly I trying to draw the linees here, but we didn't get it that way the SFA. we didn't want to get banned on day three, sorry. T about ofating online. My only question is A why you not mentioned that people kept describing me as a midfield general in that game when we won five four And secondly, where did you get a whistle? How did you find a whistle? A lovely Simon from BBC went in his bag and just brought it a whistle. So I was yeah, I thought I was quite I was wearing the Italia ninety Scotland's top just to make it a we that glittery hereing just so I could stand out in the crowd obviously. and Hi So it's been good. Genula has been good. We've been speaking to the Scotland team every single day. They've been training every single day. And then tomorrow it's Max Damon as won in Boston. So want to be real now. Yeah, can we talk about Scotland and you've been embedded with the national team since you arrived in the United States and you spoke to the manager, you spoke to a few of the players What's the feeling ahead of this one? Is a similar feeling to what we were like ahead of the Eururos in Germany? We're really upbeat and up for it? or is it a determination to make amense for what happened in Germany because it did leave a sour taste in the mouth and it feels like we need to start this World Cup on a positive. There's a few things I'd say on that. First of all It is completely different to the Us I think the Eururos, they were very relaxed, they were very upbeat and it was a real energy within the camp. That's not to say there isn't that same energy here. But there's a bit more of like a determination and a focus to go right We need to learn from the mistakes of what happened at the Euros J Magd Golden, Adan Hickey Steve Clark' spoke to them all and they've all reiterated the same thing There's a bit there just seems that bit more of a drill down focus of We need to prepare for this Hety game. We need to get it right There is still a great atmosphere. no question And that's rippling from the players out to us um And the Bolivia game helps. let's discuss that very quickly because That first offalf against Bolivia We were broken But what I would say Ronnie about the Bolivia game in that first half and for the entire game is that Bolivia don't travel well. I think I've only won one game in thirty and there was a few other players couldn't get visas to play in the game and it was an experimental side. It was a young side, but you can only beat what's in front of you But what it showed to me is that Shanklin has nailed ony Star and possibly Adams alongside them. thoseose two worked really well together And there was an argument possibly to be had That first half performance against Bolivia Does he just go with that team against Haiti or does John McGin come in? I thought tough I think that's a really tough decision because I think who do if you want to take out a player, it's probably Ryan Christter or Lewis Ferguson, but especially in that Bolivia game and you're I take your point about the team that you play, but you kned it yourself, you can only beat what's in front of you I think it's really tough to take eer of them out. And when Jon McGan came on I know it's the second half. The game's kind of died to death a be bit, but he wasn't great, but we know he's He easily one of our best players. I think it's a really difficult decision that for Steve Clark. I think it's an easy decis Joob make and has to play Scotland's first game at Worldu He'sed the Vvelllow captain and he' justed his team to theed Paliqu he slots in in front of you and Lewis Ferguson or Ryan Krusty I think it' be Ryan Krusty that drops out I think you'll narrow up a bit in the middle of the p it'll keep Lis Fergus in there it'll keep M Tommy in there And Ben D could be out Oball on the right hand side Hing out of that Adam Hikey were brillant k out of H yesterday. He was she's b the yesterday actually And a happy birthday Aam spoke we we got a bus stickake as well and it was delated but a You can tell his feace outly enough U that that right hand aid you in I think that will be our secret weapon this year. Aron Hakekey and Bendo The pace The dynamism We've not had that in a long, long, long time And that could be something you've got friendly cutters that could come in as well I think we're in a good place. I'm doing that thing of I'm believing again I don't know what you say about Bolivia right, but They are also a they are still a good team though You know, there the stellus team that When you look back in the last five years, probably a Scotland team would have struggled against. we blew them away We didn't just play well and it was a one nil to that was that was something that Scotland hadnven't done in a long, long time And that was a proper pumping in the first half The one thing I would say is and this is going to be for the entire tournament if we start well again Ey, these water breaks tell momentum halfway through C complepletely kill them inle. and the stoppages Especially in the second half, you make so many substitutes as well I would in terms of that first game, Sankland and Adams, no question Sankland is the hottest property in town Yeah. I mean, I think you chang it. Sanklin for me Shanklin for me is's a nailed on starter and I think Adams did enough in the game against Bolivia to suggest he should start alongside them What I would say is he does have a selection dilemma and I've saw a few Scotland fans talking about how we should maybe go to a back five the wing backs and get the crosses in from our wing backs Hickey and Robertson because we've got Adams and Shanklland in the middle. So you go with that narrow midfield three with Robertson and and Hicke down the flanks with Kiren Tiery coming in as a left sided center back. What's your thinking Ronnie that how do you think Scotland will set up against Haiti? Will it be a back three five with a midfield three with Adams and Shanklin up top or or does he go the four two three one? I think it's a good old fashion four for two Do you think' for The way he played Yeah. I think the way he played against Bolavia is the way he will play the Haitians looking at them against New Zealand They run And they can run through you It's not a ball over the top. They play through you need men in that midfield So I think if you to lose a medfielder to put something on there about five. I think you're almost giving the Haitians a little bit more of an advantage in the middle of the park. If you win in the middle of theark battle you win the game if you can turn it over and transitions quickly and get the ball forward more That's where the spaces will be. That's where I think Shanklin is key because as you saw our hearts how many times you and has Shanklin dropped into the space and connected play between the midfield and the attack in the Wingland gave the outball. It's just how many goals we score I think will beat them No problem. I think you go four for two And you're trying to score as many goals as you can. We know what it's like. We know what this This whole thing has been about getting out of the group for the first time ever and You just need As many goals in that Haitian game to give us a chance because when know's coming down the tracks Kalam as you is up beat as Ronnie. Yeah, I would echo Ronnie's point that I wasn't in the training camp for Euro twenty twenty four. I stayed in the cities, Cologne, Stutgart, and of course Munich Being here and being amongst the squad. Steve Clark said it himself in an interview that he did with the wonderful Ali Barber, who scored a screamer in that media game yesterday. What a go So see that? What a goal. And an assist . He said I'm a different Steve Clark now and he is acting likeike a completely different Steve cllark. he's laughing He's came over to chat to the journalists on the open training session on day one And I think when you look at the players and you look at him, there is a steely determination that I think we've lacked before. They feel and act like they should be here, not that they're lucky to be here. And I'm like Ronnie. att first I was a bit worried Can we win this game? Genuinely can we beat Haiti? now I have no question that we will. It's about how many goals we score. this feel good positivity. that's got to come back right in the bag sa We've been chatting on the WhatsApp group chat and I watch Haiti in their game against Peru and I watch them in their game against New Zealand and New Zealand England struggled to beat them by a goal to know. and I was really impressed with Haiti going forward But if we play Shanklland and Adams, I've got no doubt about it that we'll score goals against them because see defensively, they are vulnerable. They're very poor defensively. the goalkeepers no great either. My concern is is keeping them out because if we were to lose possession in the middle of the parkers we watch against New Zealand and against Peru, they get forward quick and with numbers as well So I've got a horrible feeling that they might score a goal, which means that we're going to have to score at least three or four which will then help us hopefully qualify in third spot should we get nothing against Morocco and Brazil. But I do have a we fear that heati sc against us and it just depends on how many goals that we get. I don't know if you boys watched the highlights against New Zealand and against Peru and up and against Peru they were one the up until the eightieth minute and then they made all their changes in the second half then Peru won it late on. But their first eleven were quite impressive in regards to how the attack teams defensively though they're shocking I think they the most score I don't think we have great shapakes at the back We've done it the last two games, We've scored four eight goals in the last two games. I think we will score or four. I think that's the difference right now is that there is a lot more confidence going forward under the Scotland team now than what there was, right enough we're still of it I mean, I still think much fragile at the bike. I still I'm tryrying out for a goalkeeper to just be playing Mutes within their own club But're that's not where we are. I imagine he'll go with Angus Gun. to God not fully fed don't think and Lilliam Kelly is been labeled the third choice keeper anyway. So we go we gun. McKenna did not train yesterday you but The world in the street is that he's okay, it was precautionary and they should be fine I don't know if it's An Lyan Im L and Eing. Yeah. So I mean, I'll rattle through quickly then what I think the S eleven will be because we might as well all just do it and see how feel. So I've gone gun Robel, McKenna Hanley Hickey. If McKenna's not fit, it becomes Henry because I mean, I love the excuse of, well, he's played in hot weather in Saudi, so he it' be great. I mean, I don't know what that means but we'll go with it. Mc and Ferguson, Mc Tomy Ban Dke, and then Adams Shankland.'s team Yeah, I wouldn't disagree with that. I think you're probably bang on the money there. I do think there was an argument to be had that the first half team against Bolivia should maybe start against Haiti got such an impressive first half and we banged on four goals. But I think Ronnie's also got a really good point as well. It's very difficult to leave out Joh McGinn after what he's achieved Aston Villa this season. But that's a good position for Steve Clark to be in. And I do think that this team who suffered in the euros, particularly in that game against Hungary where we just did not turn up. I do think they we're going to have a different mentality and a different attitude going into this World Cup, but we need to get the result against Haiti on Saturday night into Sunday morning because is key. It's key and then that sets us up for the Morocco game a week today we play Morocco. and then Wednesday a week on Wednesday, we've got Brazil in Miami, which I think you can forget about the Brazil game in Miami, thirty four degrees heat against the Brazilians and a fancy Brazil to do quite well in this World Cup. The two is re that thought, by the way, your complexion in Miami with thirty four degree heat I feel you're going to need more than emulsion There a people back p' messaged and going, Roddie son, got to just make sure you get the factor fifty on look' going you're going reather than the STB sport might must And then listen if we get three points against Haiti we score a battlad of goals and we a lot of people expect Scotland not to get anything against Morocco. evenven we kept that down a one mill defeat if we were to lose to them and it was a narrow one mill defeat to Brazil. We are going through to the last thirty two of this World Cup However, if we get the three points against Haiti and we got the draw against Morocco, we' guaranteed before we even play Brazil that we're in the last thirty two and we can go and enjoy ourselves against Brazil and have a go at them knowing that we're alreadyready through to the knockout stages. Can I also make an argument that someone made to me, I can't remember who it was in the media center, which is if Brazil win their first two games They will play a completely different side in that last game against us. And don't get me wrong, Brazil second string team is still ridiculous, but If that does happen, there's genuinely an opportunity there that Scotland can get Sneak a point as Steve Clarkke and park the bus master cllass, I think. You can't rule that out I can tellell him, I can rule that and I'll tell you why I'm going to rule that out see that last game in the group If Brazil, as we all expect, will have six points before they play Scotland It'll all come down to goal difference and regardless to who finishes top of that group because everyone's expected to batter Haiti. So on the day that Scotland played Brazil G Morocco who are playing Haiti. You do not want to finish second in this group because if you finish second in this group, you've got a really tough route to a final. you want to top that group. So Brazil will not chance anything in that third game. They'll want to win the group and give themselves an easier route to the quarterfinals where they will play possibly and likely England And then they've got Portugal in the semifinal should they go that far. So nobody wants to finish second in this group and weirdly finishing third in the group Bet than finishing second I'll take that But you know the point I on making Calum Yeah, no, no, listen, I take your point. but I also think, you know It's a long tournament. There's an extra round of games. You can't keep playing your best to eveven every single game. I know there're slightly longer between games I'm just I'm more going on hope than logic youan that if we need a point because we've not got the goal difference we acquire from the Haiti game, maybe Brazil drop a few stars and let us score a few goals. That's all I want Ronnie, what would you say mate? What do you what do you think um Get out these three games I don't think we get anyhere near Morco Brazil In terms of looking at the stats Camm and I were discussing this I thing in one of the flights over Opta our good friends Opta with all the footy stats are basically saying that if you finish with Th points. and a minus two goal differes, right You've got at least a sixty percent chance of going through That Massive becausecause when you think of some of the groups, Some of the subplac teams will get absolutely pumped Another fun place teams won't even get a win. That is up for me F for two against Haiti, tryry and win by three goals. And then it's the five at the back, Steve Clark command level of Fantastic breakdown come and have a go as if you think' hard enough football And we and we hopefully scrape two narrow defeats. I mean, I would love to sit here and say Maroo and Brazilla Agettable. I just don all think they are I think with the heat butre all unbelievable Abssolutely unbelievable. They were so good against Norway, Ronnie You werere saying that, you're watching the game I They were seen that first half when it was their two best elevens against each other Morocco were one going on five. They battered Norway. And same of Brazil, I mean you look at Brazil squad. it is just disgusting So listen, we know what we need to do. We know what we need to do. and that's the we were speaking to Garon McAallister for the news He was saying, listen, it's a good thing. We've get Haiti first, right because we can you can do the business. There's no scar tissue if you get beat the first game because you know playing against the end of the big two in the group not to be a negative spin on it, but all the pressureures on this one N players are going to walk out the Boston Stadium and goes right, we need to win this and not only do we need to win it We need one to be a couple That brings with it a certain pressure that If you go half and in the game and you have no scored The fans can get a wee bit restless. I'm just I'm calling for the Tarami to be a bit patient. because that's There is this also feeling that because we don't know Haiti or because Haiti is from a far flung region of the globe, There'll be pish of us It's going to happen with that We're going to have to really, really put in our performance. If we put in a performance anywhere near that we did in Germany for any of the games What in subouble So I see you sk through as a third place team, I really do I agree with you. and I do think that Haiti is going to be a difficult game. but I do think if we score first, the floodgates will open But I also believe that Haiti see Scotland is their chance to get a result and possibly get out of the group. That's it's like a cup final for both the nations on Saturday night into Sunday morning because Scotland realistically and Haiti realistically will look at the next two games and think the likelihood is we're going to lose here. So this is our cup final to get out of the groups possibly. It's a huge, huge game. My only concern is Is it You were suggesting Gary McCasster thinks this is the best game to start of the World Cup. Well I was in Italy for when we played Costa Rica and we lost that opening game by a goal to L Um The Iran game, I look back at that one as well when we drew one one with Iran in nineteen seventy eight And we just have to hit the ground running because if we don't, it just puts us in so much pressure when we head to Morocco a week tonight. Is this where I get to say what I've said to Ronnie, maybe four thousand times since we landed here, which is and I said it on the podcast before the season finished, I don't think we lose to Morocco. I think we'll get a point at Moroccoan and we'll have four points going into the Brazil game And we can actually enjoy it. I feel really strongly about I M mate mate me me me You clearly didn't watch any of Morocco in that first half against Norway who for many think are dark courses to win the World Cup. Go and watch Morocco in the first half with their best eleven up against Haland and Oudegarde and all those players And then come back to me and say that Scotland they' going to get a draw against Morocco and we see that What gives you that confidence, Cam Sometimes I just get out are we feeling I said we'd beat Denmark, I said we'd qualify for the World Cup, and that came to pass. I think having been in this Scotland camp, all it's done is made me feel more strongly that Scotland will Absolutely beat Haiti and get a point from Morocco. You and I take your point that they played well against Norway. I do. And I know obviously they won the African Cupinations although by default. S findings that Lasland have' I know all that. I just think Scotland have enough about them. I think Steve Clark has enough to nullify specific threats that Morocco have and I think we'll get a point from the game. What I'll say you is there's always one team Us that I want to cate goes a lot farther than they should. I'm thinking of like whales The euros are twenty sixteen O even like Morocco at that point, although they were a very good team in twenty twenty two. no one really expected them to do the business. No, imagine if we have a run in this. I'm not going clan. Your Your Your knes picture the chief and get me a clothing budget. I'm gonnaady to smell them W this stop me this And so can I ask you because we're half an hour in and we've got a few more minutes before we call it a day. Scotland Ronnie, how many points are we getting in the group Three points with a negative one goal difference And are we getting out of the group and getting into the knockout stages? Yes Callumale, same we manyone the Oh o. Interesting. wow Okay going to the last sixteen accordingly, Ronnie. Okay. Callum Bell, I'm going to ask you the same question. How many points will Scotland get out the group points, three off Haiti one of Morocco. And how far are we getting I think roundnder thirty two would be enough because by the time we get to round sixteen, I'll be missing Cara too much. I'll just really home. What about you? Sheeez. I think we get to the round of thirty two, but what it looks like if we get to round thirty two, we're going to have to head to the Azteca stadium in Mexico to play the Mexicans And I just can't see us beating them in there in their backyard Iagine R stl M at each other Oh Ien some b make you look like a strawberry M The STV radio foootball showh is brought to you by CR Smith. I've got another couple of questions for you. we've talked about Scotland and what we think they'll the lineup will be and how we think they'll do in this group and how far they'll go. I'm going to ask you both Who is winning this World Cup? Ronnie Charters Pain I mean very tellent bident about that. I'm going to go for Argentina because I got them in the sweepy in my mate so if they do, I get like two in requests of Argentina. What about you? I'm going with Portugal. I think this is Ronaldo's year. Messi had his moment four years ago in Qatar. I think Ronaldo will get his moment this year. I think they've got a great chance and a good side of the draw as well. They'll come up against Brazil in the semif finals because I think Brazil knocked England out in the quarter fininals and it'll be Brazil, Portugal in the semis and then in the other semi final'll be Spain versus France so I really fancy it being a M Portugal Spain final, which I think is is I mean it's a blockbuster of a final But my next question is this so amazing you might as well just put Big Jany and just call the whole thing off. You've just mapped the entire path. Yeah, I've actually been that suden me. I've actually mapped out what I think is going to happen in the World Cup. I'm going to ask you this Yeah, my next question to you is my next question is this How far will England get? So if England and Brazil were to win their groups, they're likely to meet in the quarter fininals. I think Brazil beat England in the quarter finals How far do you think England will get? I think the English media are already beinging for blood poor big timeam, B toam tooks I think he's in trouble I think rememember the outcry when that squad came out Yeah If England do not stopped Incredibly well. neverever mind just well They'll be calling for Palmers and calling for Odenss and Alexander Arnolds and he will just be behind the eight ball And our lovely colleagues in England have done it again. The map took the route to the final and I'm guaranteeing you they're already talking about our open talk bus in and around London when they win it. It's incredible they never learn you they never learn. and They might have the riches of the English Premier League, but the English Premier League is now flooded with non British players And this England team, I'm sorry No for me this year, definitely not Wh Where do you think they get to where' again for them, Ronny? they're not getting to the last fall definitely not. I'd say they' struggle to make the quarters If they get to the quarters, I think Calo Anlotti will put one over on if that's to berail. I getrazil on the STV sweepstick, by the way so. R Cfagingst does obviously come under Po N Callen what about you how far did England getting I'll go one further than Ronnie. I think they could scrape it to the semifinals. I don't think they play good football. I don't think they're a good fun team to watch. I do have a slight concern that because things have been so bad in the lead up to the tournament, as Ronnie just mentioned, it's the type of thing that I don't know, might end up galvanizing the squad and I'm so terrified that they go on a half decent run you know, do be a Brazil or do be a half decent team and then they start to get some momentum. But I mean I can't see them get to the final one and I can't see them winning it. You and do you feel any differently No I think their World Cup ends against Brazil in the quarterfinals. I mean, if they win the group, there's a chance of plays Beckistan in the last thirty two U and the other thing about England when they do play Brazil, that game, that quarterfinal game is scheduled to be played in Miami in that heat There's no chance to England beat Brazil and Anloti, not a chance in hell are they doing I watched England last night against Costa Rica. I thought they were awful. I watched them against New Zealand and I thought they were awful. So Ronnie's right. I think the English media are just waiting for England to stumble or to not start particularly well and then the nights will be out and the vultures will be hovering. so That's what we think of England. My next question to you is this Ronnie kind of touched on it. everyvery tournament, there is one team that just springs from the pack that nobody expects. We had Croatia a few years ago when they got to a semifinal. We had obviously Wales get to a semifinal the Eururos. We had Morocco and Qatar just four years ago. whichich nation at the forty eight are going to spring a surprise Ronnie. Ecuador Ecuador will get to the quarter fininals Big shout of that, my friend 's a big sh. It amazing if you could just pluck it or not can you? Actually sound I sounded like do it was so it there. I just plocked out. No, I think there's a lot of people talking about it J. I've seen that up listening to peopleeople from who's your man from South America, Tim Victory and whatnot the Tation expert. It's got to be a hot country thatins at you and it's got to be hot countries that get all the way because you can acclimatize it. but when you're playing games every five days and training in between, at some point it catches up with you. You can do all the sauna training like Adam Hickey was talking about. But there's a point where your body goes, right, this is mad. And I think when you get to that latter stages of it That's when those who are so used to it as in they've training in it for years It makes the difference. That's why England get ruled out. That's why your Croatians would get ruled out. This type it's going to be country re lease a Ecador for me. M Callum Bell, who's springing from the pack and going to cause a shock and a surprise at this World Cup I'll echo Ronnie's point that it will be a hot country, but I'll go with one that I was just in on holiday. I think it willll be Colombia. I think they've got a half decent squad, but some very, very good players in there like Louis Diaz who's been on incredible form for Ba Munich all season. I think they might just have a we runun maybe not quite so far as the semies, but maybe like the quarters still got Hamz Rodriguez as their captain, which is hilarious. mind him. So I think it might be Colombia. I think the two shouts made a good my team M Japan Yeah, show Well, we know what dies inaida can do you, can't we Yeah. Oh, totally. the Mans do you think I'm going to bite without you prick And that day. It it Sorry I can tell you You're an arsal Yeah I'm going tell you why I think Japan So I think Japan are dark horses for me because I've watched them recently. they beat Scotland by a goal toil a Handon. They then went and beat England in their own backyard down the road. They then went and beat Brazil by three goals of two and I actually watched the game against Brazil. However, what I would say about Japan versus Brazil is that Brazil steamrolled them, led to Nil and were looking amazing where Brazil Brazil they make a mistake at the back. they allow Japan back in It's two one two two and then at a corner they lose the game by three goals to two, but Japan look sensational going forward and defensively they' not too bad either. teechnically very good. some really good footballers. I think that they could cause quite the shock at this World Cup and their a team, I think could get to the latter stages Can I tell you my hot takeake? Can we get everyone have a hot take I think The USA team Well, combust. Ptino will be sacked after this And this will be one of the USA's Woscorld Cups I'm not a fan Callen Bele, what's your hot take for this World Cup My hot take is there'll be more red cards in this tournament than there will have been in any World Cup or Euros before this I think we all know the rule changes, but there's so many players who will not remember that if you cover your mouth like this while you're saying something to someone and it comes across as negative, I'm doing finger quotes because that's apparently part of the rules, you get a red card. So I think there'll be more players sent off in this tournament than ever before C, the reason for that, there's forty eight teams Oh, yes, a good, but I'm still correct in seeing it the moment That's h take. h take just I think there'll be more teams playing in this World Cup than any other before. That's the basicallyically just say Do you what my hot takeake is? you two are both a bunch of pricks. That's my hot takeake, all right G, veryer good. You hotake. Yeah. Calum, that's why you're the third wheel in this podcast because you talk some amount of shite. Calum. I'm the Michelle from Destiny Slist. Now I know we're my breads p. you think got your here Yeah. The Stehven my hand out that and Dick My hot take for this World Cup Thomas Tule will be sacked during this World Cup or just after jooting Well juston it as soon as he'll be gone The VAR rule changes are going to be very, very interesting this Drum Okay. The going off is quite an issue. So if a player goes off injured, They need to be off for a minute. Even if they're fine again, they can't just be waved back on. and The time wasting can can if you time waste five seconds for a throw in If you lose that, I'll go over the five seconds it's a throw into the opposition I think some of this will cause cararnage I agree. I would to get st off. Ronnie, I would say that's needed and you know who's caused this? Arsenal under Michkel Artetta Maybe. Yeah, maybe It subs as well Calum. Yeah, you've got you've got to be off the field in a matter of seconds if you've got a if you're a substitute there's no deelhi dalallying. it's a case of genuinely running off the field I don't think enough Fans know about this Obviously the teams have been instructed by FIFA about it all and given their briefings about it But watching it is going to cause carnage I was watching the England Costa Rica game last night and there was a penalty given and Var intervened and no I loved about the Vard intervention last night. It was a penalty that was awarded to England after Anthony Gordon was bundled over in the box nine times out of ten, ninety nine times out of one hundred in any league in any country evenven with Var looking at it, would have given the penalty. But last night they looked at and went Nah, there wasn't enough in that to give the penalty. It was a boycinner. It was behind Anthony Gordon Anntony Gordon feels a touch and then goes down in the box and the referee instantly went penalty. Var looked at and went, now there's nothing in that. That's what we need. You can't just have a we touch or we pull back and throw yourself to the ground. So it's clear the referees have been instructed what they need to do at this World Cup and they're putting that into practice in these friendly games. and so far, Ronnie, from the games that I've watched those changes, those subtle changes are having a benefit a positive effect on the actual game. So you might not see many players rolling around because they'll be taken off the field for a minute. You might not see players throw themselves in the penalty box because they're not going to get the penalty like they used to. So yeah, it could be a bit of carnage until people get used to it, but I think it's probably heading in the right direction. I may live to regret saying that But I do think I something very positive I think this could be a watershed moment. I think that this could be the poope by Vard gets to a place where we go there's always going to be issues with it, I'm not talking about evenly Scottish football implements it. But just in terms of we get to a definitive point of going right, this is what Var can do This is how we speed up the game because these water breaks are going to kill her. After twenty minutes or so halfway through the first half, they saought for the water Baks The other point I would say you that might stop things and we've encountered this yesterday and The threats of thunderstorms could have a big impact on this World Cup If a thunderstorm is located eight miles radius to the stadium They have to wait half an hour at least for it to clear And with every fresh Thunderstorm strike That half an hour clock gets reset There can be a lot. So if Scotlander playing in Boston There's a thunderstorm alert. We're off the field for half an hour And even if it's twenty nine minutes around the clock of half hour and a thunderstorm strikes again It's another has I work It by hot te it could be that as another worldel cup where It Sos the Spt to modotel c We'll see.
