Ronnie, I'm going to actually give you a compliment here My wife described you as looking very hot on STV news other night there when you were doing a live report from Miami Beach. notot hot in regards to the sun beaming down on your weeheed and the fact that you were looking tidy, my friend I was wearing a weeMNS number, right If I was to show you the Instagram and Twitter DMs I go that night. Whereas Callum is looking like death warmed up just now I feel I feel like death. I actually feel like death freezing cold Stot good I'm really. I woke up this morning at seven forty AM because we're recording this at AM American time. and I looked at my phone and I went, I cannot speaking to you and Cameron this morning But here we are. When it seeming you woke up, did you have a lot of notifications on Twitter Yeah, just a few hose up for no hary club or. The cheer leaders put these pom poms in See before we get to the football, we always like to start off in a light hearted note and let's go through your day and the build up to the big game and everything as we always do. You've been there in Miami for a few days, Ronnie Chars, what's it been like Oh No I will be I will be honest with you. The last few days, the heat and the humidity has been mad, right? Genuinely mad I've had I so Because of the time difference, the STV news at six is on at one o'clock So logistically to listen for the people back home. where mornings are really, really rushed So between getting up in the morning and one o'clock being live on the ty I've had to change three times becausecause of the sweat Right? And one of the last ones that had on Ocean Dve, which is the iconic one where all the fans max for stuff, there is a public toilet and I wouldt one of the cubicles to get changed, right? But the cubicles aren't that high If someone were to walk out, you can see like from the top of my head you can see my arms like taking my t shirt off and all this sort of stuff And There's just a guy. So there was two there's two urals next to the cubicle right and I put I'm like, o my God, this is back guy chuts and the doorwn and goes. You get lucky at me And I walked out I change a t shirt. Anway, help be boy A a? It is kindid Can't within dodgey stuff and give a c you back fix it. I said I was just getting changed for the tell I went I don't worry it's between. don't its I was like, but there's new like surely there' been something douset in the cubicical if that was the case. I said don't want it pated. I just walked an old man I was like, allright mate Your secret saf for me, me man. donon't you worry about that was that was it That was is it you putting it out there in case he starts to spread the rumor that you weren in a cubic colonial own and you were up to You're in the obtain any good. Take the your happen, I know My only fans has gone Miami version. That's basically what it was. Yeah you getting some attention, Ronnie because you are looking rather tidy as I said a few minutes ago. Thank you, thank you.' genuinely I'm get the t. So was I know that might be. I don't know. I doubt it. I doubt it. I doubt her. I've just made sure doesn't be in that room. Hry O D McDonal'. What what we also said what we also did though is we went to our all of our former colleagues GBX night a wonderful George H with Cat Harvey and friendriends We went to a police called I love George Tvets. we all love George Tvets H venue choice So this kick this GBX name rather say Rather obscure. A place called Domicide I checked out on social media What' you think you right Yeah. Ronny's face says it all. I mean, I don't need to say a word. hisis face says it all It was genuinely like wipe your feet in the way Do I mean it was it was I've never what a night by the way. Jeorge looked after us. we got on stage, we had got into the green room, which was basically it was basically just another room we a couch in it that listened That was my that was my green room moment. . It was so warm and the hot and sweaty and then then George Kyold and the place went absolutely boncous. bits and pieces. You don knowt he die. He's amazing and We would say The two guys look at each other, right And with it What someone want to say it fy. So I was like, if this is bad to believe. Calin was like So God But then it turned it turned it to be amazing. it turned it to read the book. And what time what tim did your night in, Callum I'll tell the next part of the story. So Ronnie and I It's the night for the big game.' Scotland, Brazil. it's massive. And you know how professional Ronnie and I are. We take what we do in news very very seriously, especially Ronnie who's on camera when he's not in a cubicle with a man he's just met. And so we decided right what we're going to do? is we're going to go home at half one. no matter what happens, we're going home at one thirty. So we're at the GBX gig it's about quarter to midnight My mate Richard texts me, and Richard is a lovely guy, but he's absolutely loaded and he goes, I'm at the sixth best nightclub in the world I've got a table and I've got some bottles the table, me mate. Why don't you guys just come? And M night Ronnie going No Categorically no, that's not happening quarter to twelf. By midnight we're in the Uber. At what time would your night end But when we get in if boss he's a listening calendar,'s be careful. be careful. be careful. We get in and he's got a bottle on the table and we're just about to leave about two AM. J just as we're looking at each other going right it's tical John Russell walks in, former Scotland,nd theite player and goes, canan I join your table lads? And at four hundred seven AM, that's when I ordered the next tber. eight AM start the next day And Ronnie, I watched your hit on STV newews live from Ocean Drive and you would never have known you were professional. It was brilliant. it looked good No idea that you'd been up all night pissing up with Johnny Russell. So well done, you, my friend. you know how to put on a show. Well, all I'll say is the cameraman Pete, who did a great job, did manage to get the big puddle a set just sh r than think wasic But Holy mooly, we were seen two hill meeties and her father aftered that while I was in trouble just before we were going on here. Let me tell you I don't know what higher powerower sorted me out that night, but it was that place Late Cub please. as Jet, you know I've been out and about And like a they That is the mentalest place I have ever been to in my life All over the world, everywhere anywhere anywhere in the world I've been I've did all the IBIA stuff eleven. I think eleven. Yeahep, eleven Bonkers bonkers You can can I I genuinely was overwhelmed. You what happened to your GFO What happened, mate, you promised us that Grant Hanley was going to get taken her aliens. What happened It's I was only reporting the facts Oh listen Iightlight' been reporting the facts. I I I tell you right l to tell you right now. After an hour, I was told that the guy next me going, do, what I mean the is. By the way, I think all of Scotland are waiting for that spaceship to come over, praying that the spaceship comes over Dont worry boys put. Right. So no genuinely, it's been mental. We've we've the Tan army have taken over, they've done it right. But let's get to the football because sadly, No matter how great the Tartan army is across the globe. and how much admiration we've got and how much support we've got from everyone across the globe Once again, the players don't live up to the fans's level of performance because it finishes Scotland now butzelle three Leaving our qualification hopes on the brink. We are on a knife edge And the waiting game starts for us where we need other results, a lot of other results now to go our way. you and Cameron, your initial post match take on Scotland now Brazil three Stevie Clark sack him no Moreini sack him now. Maxwell sack him now. The SFA needs ripped up from top to bottom. It's a joke of an organization, It's a clique. It's a job for the boys. Stevie Clark is part of that Stevie Clark needs to go. He should have gone after Euro two thousand four. We're back to square one. We've learnt nothing, notothing has changed Um, He's an embodiment He embarrassed himself last night, he embarrassed the Tartan arrmy last night with the way he conducted himself in the post match interviews when he walked out on the Eie Bar bar. That was an absolute disgrace. And for that matter alone, he should be sacked on the spot. There are Scotland fans out there, tens of thousand Scotland fans who have made that journey have spent thousands of pounds. And those tart an army Fans have not only just spent thousands of pounds but probably got themselves into debt to follow their team. and he can't stand there in a post match interview tell the Tartan arrmy to tell the people back home in Scotland what went wrong And he walks out on Eiley Barber in that manner, that is disgraceful. It's an embarrassment and he should be sacked for that alone He did it in the preier Lague game against Morocco. The guy is not fit to be the Scotland manager. He never has been. He never should have been the Scotland manager. And I know that Callum, the happay clapper sat there and we a big argument during the last podcast as well I don't give a monkeys it's taken us to three tournaments. It's never been as easy ever in the history of international football to qualify for a tournament, whether it be a eos or whether it be a World Cup Yes, we won the group. We won the section against Denmark, Greece and Belarus Apart from some magical moments, the performances were never great. But those moments will live in the history of Scottish football, iconic moments that we will dine on like we've dined on with Archie Gemmel and Kenny Douglish over the years. But if we look at it in the cold light a day We're not a great team and Steve Clark's philosophy doesn't work. He has had how many years to get his philosophy across to that team I still don't know what we're doing. I still don't know Where would go in? What the style is, what the tactics are We look a mess We've got better players than that and I'm sick and tired of us just turning up and making up the numbers and not making an impact on any of the major touraments that we've turned up at. This is a third one in a row. It has to be his last and Mulrani and Maxell who gave him a four year deal just before this World Cup. That's why they need suac in as well So's our measured response there I'mun Kaman I like I like the we're starting off in a nice a nice level five at ten. not going anything. Sack them all Sack them Now can you sit there Callum Ronnie, hold it sorry, mate, because I kind of sat back and watch Ron Callum and I go out hammer and talk. and you're getting quite a bit. I feeleltember John Anderson Gladiator right? you will go on my second C you will go on my secondness Gladiator ready ready Contender ready. And the contender, are you ready, Callum? because you have been over the piece Steve Clark Fine orter Yes I think the issue with it is that with you being a Dunde United fan, You are, um, celebrated any any kind of them. I What's the word? Give me the word suuccess because your team is mediocre. So any little success that comes your way, you' grasping with two little hands and going, But he's taking us to three tournaments, three tournaments, two Euros and a World Cuub. He's one of the best managers we've ever had and he's going to make history He should never be labeled. He should never be labeled in the history of Scottish football managers as one of the greatest managers that we have ever produced for the national team That is you'll look at Joack Steeen, you'll look at Watersmith, Alex McLleash, Gordon Strachen, they're all just They're all better managers. And we absolutely. I listen to you and Id tell me that last. No he has a' not' not he's a lucky manager because of you Afin and FIF have helped him G Gone Callanone, give it give us giveive us your defense Give us your defense against the Gets Steen Clark I'm actually not going to give you a defense of the great Steve Clark. What I will say is some of your points I agree with, some of them I think are absolutely mental, but it's you and Cameron. So of course, the point about Dund United actually don't disagree. I think there's probably something in that. See if you're a fan of a more successful team and you have to watch a team that aren't very successful as your national side, I get that must be quite annoying. I don't really have that luxury Maybe that is part of the reason. I think genuinely he is one of the best managers we'll ever have for Scotland because of what he's achieved. steady hold O You're at the bottom of the traveler Let me go and But what I do think is that when it comes to tournament football, Steve Clark can't get it right And we have we now have Three case studies between two Euros and a World Cup to show that. You're not here you. you're a weird and you refuse to come out I don't, but that's another story. But Ronnie and I are in the Tartan Army are and we've been ingatiated with them We've been in with the Tartan Army for three weeks now and it's so devastating and frustrating and annoying that these people have given everything for Scotland, everything to come out here and be part of what has been the most amazing experience apart from on three match days. And I think It's kind of unforgivable because It's not just Steve Clark. I've said this before. I think Steve Clark's got a lot to answer for, definitely. and I agree with you on the part about the post match interviews. I think that's the job That's literally your job. And if you can't do that part of it, then what are we doing here I think there we also have to talk about John McGinn Scott McTomney all of our defense apparently. We've got players who play Fantastic teams One who is what was it fifteen, sixteenth, seventeenth in the Ballondor who has been atrocious And so I find it really hard to sit here the morning after the night before three nl by Brazil in a game when it could have been six if it weren't for Angus gun and defend it. So I won't I'm not going to happy clap. I'm incredibly frustrated. I'm incredibly disappointed. More than anything, I think. you look at teams like Cape Verdy or Haiti who have a goal and who score goals and And yet, ultimately they might still lose and go out with the tournament or they may not they may hate to you know won' progress, K Verdy might We just didn't even have a goal And so I sit here very despondent and very dejected more than anything because I'm having to agree with you and Cameron The thing is Ronnie and u You've been close to Scotland setup for a number of years now. You've been there with Steve Clark for much of his time in charge I don't see any improvement I don't know what her style is. I don't know what her philosophy is. What I do know his philosophy is what he did at Karic Let's be hard to be. and I've always believed that we've been that we are better than that. And I think with a better coach. Bet manager over that period of time We would have seen incremental improvements year after year after year after year, especially when he was all about having this club mentality around the squad. I don't see any improvement if truth be told I'm seeing regression. I know you'll go back to me and go, but what about the qualifying Rones for the World Cup Go back and watch those games against Belarus, Greece, and Denmark Yeah. sccoring goals, winy games and we got the points that were needed. but we carryed a lot of luck in those games as well. But even in a lot of those games our performances were poor and we got away with it. Well we're no getting away with it this World Cup and see if we do scrape through the back door to the last thirty two because other results go our way We're going to label that is history making, the greatest moment for our national team. No, not for me Not for me. we don't deserve to be anywhere near the last thirty two We are shy We are pish. We are an embarrassment. We need to come home now and see if we do scrape through in the last thirty two Don't go lads. You're just're just you wait a minute. you're gonna donon't go lad. You're tell me you're gonna tell me don't to go to Mexico City? you're right. I'll come in. Soulcoat says C on. very good. come home. R Let's just take a beat, right? because I now know how the you and Cameron Psycle drama workks, right? You start by making a point. You then stop exxplaining your points. which then you start whipping yourself up into a frenzy and then you start making other points that are absolutely we bit wild. So the arc is kind of crazy, right you see when you start off your point, you're one hundred percent correct And then you start rambling on because we all know that you love it. The momentum starts building, you're like a runaay train and then you go mo and the the end we bit I think you let yourself down, right? So'll pick we'll pick it apart First of all You're right Steve Clark needs to look up himself in the mder He has to have a lot of himself as conduct afterfter games. has not been great, I don't feel, and has not represented Scotland in the best light Second point is Whether you likeake our or you in has record to get us to meajor tournaments is the best of any Scotland manager. and our country by default. So Well, it's not alles because no not. I let you Ton. I can'not have you said here you're at the top of the pycho drama.. You're at the top of the pych drama, right? He may not have done it prettyty He may have scraped by in certain games But in terms of his record He has to be held in some regard no in some regard, right? I sat there last night And what Scott McKenna. think that he had all the time in the world I sat there and watched Scott M Tomy practically be invisible. I watched Captain Andrey Robertson fail to clear these lines I watched John Mc kind of get bullied in the middle of theark. Ben Gan and D. No physicality at all Bord in Shankland missing I think You'll never see it I think Steve Clark will be so disappointed in how his players have risen to this occasion And it's and it's not as if It can't be done I'm sorry but look at the teams in this tournament The Uundermock. becausecause when they've got to this stage of deve upoped the levels, we have not. at all only goal we've scored is a deflect a goal against the Caribbean Island And you look at what heated did against Voroco. T the lead twice against them How could we not do that How can we look' another I'll finish two I'll get two every point for you A not eight With the greatest respect, and, I'm the host, I can boot you at this. I idea myself All right, out fix up the house I've come back to from America off. I've got to come back America even more powerful thaness It's going to be m on the advantage. make it makeake another two points The point on the legacy of this, I think you're right. I think I don't know how we I don't know how we take if we do get through. I mean, I don't think we will get through. I mean, even the result against South Africa beatating South Korea last night has even ded our chances even more I don't know if I don't know what we do if we go through. How do you pack up the fans? the fans want to go home? Yeah I know the majority of them will say, listen, if we can stay, we will stay because you want to cont tell of this party But I've never seen a support so flat leaving that stadium last night. And are you going to see your support pick yourself back up, spend five more grand and get yourself to Mexico. I think we're in a really awkward position Can we really celebrate going through as an achievement? I don't think we can. But we shouldn't also we can't celebr it as an achievement, Ronie. but that's all we werere talking about. to this this World Cup is if we can get the group, even finishing in a third See if we finished in third with three points and a minus one of a goal difference but we were playing exciting football. We were brave like your Jordans, like your Algerias, like your Caate Verdes, like your Haites. thenen you're going, Yeahah, we're celebrating this. We've had a go against two top ten teams. But we've just got through with three points, but at least we're turned up and we've put on a show There's nothing to celebrate about finishing third in this World Cup It's not an achievement, it's not a celebration. It's not history making. We've got through the back door. We just happen to be one of the less shite than some others that are in this World Cup And that's not an achievement for me. And we can't celebrate that if we do scrape through by the skin of our teeth. And I don't know if Callum the happy clapper would agree with that. No, it's hard to disagree. I think I think I said to Ronnie last night we were having dinner when we came back from the stadium And three andil against Brazil was the absolute worst possible result. C see if they thumped us by four instead of three or only scored two instead of three You have a better idea definitively that you're going home or that you're staying But so frustrating not only were to be played terribly and lose threeil. But because of specifically that scoreline Everyone's in limbo, but the limbo that we're in is not a fun limbo. It's just sitting here waiting for the inevitable until Sunday. And yet, listen I do I find it hard to disagree. If we end up going to Mexico City, trust me, I'll be absolutely buzzing, but not because of the football. I think The Tartan Army are going to have twenty four hours to mobilize to go to Central America. And we all know they're capable at. it's the Tartan Army. just I don't see people being excited about that prospect The STV radio foootball showh is brought to you by CR Smith. CR Smith windows and doors have been going for over fifty years. That's an incredible amount of experience. They offer great finance rates so you can get the best product for your home at an affordable rate. CRmith have over one hundred fifty iconic vans across the country findind the back of the net and head to carssmith. co. Uk to get the highest quality windows and doors with the most flexible ways to buy. Now it's time for the STV rio foootball showow The STV Radio Football Sh brought to you by CR Smith Ronnie I've got here in front of me. Scotland I' scored less goals at this tournament Tar Paraguay, New Zealand, Cape Verde in Jordan We do also have we in our group, we have Two of the top seven teams in the world. I mean, I get your point those teams are coming up against HeyT have scored more levels month U against up against the same two to times. That was my point. We were getting updates from the Hiti game, right and inside the stadium because the games are kicking off at the same time. So every time we score to go on the big screen that came up And the top namif finds are gun It can be done They candid up And I just wanted to touch on the fans because we've had cat on this before and You know, there's a generation above I was even above your Yeah I know you're older than this bit You're right There is there is there's a Tartan army generation who We're there in ninety eight, right and are guess on a bit and we' thinking I'm never going to see any another other Scot game Scotland that World Cup And then we gave them the Dadmark game. ation to come here late Fantastic And I'm sure this will go down regardless of the football as a genuine once in a lifetime trip. For all of us who are over here, right? I get that justust I'm so I feel so sorry for them. Fom the footballing point of view. Once again just I genuinely thought this is something we could have This was the one where we could have rewrunked it becausecause The f I have had three major tour liments now The biggest celebration was either holding out against England at Weemley. are scoring a one nill deflected winner against Haiti. And I know we won And we did win and we won a World Cup game But see now in the cold light of day That just wasn't enough. I said after the Haiti game that I thought that we over celebrated that victory and Callum you had to pop at me. And I also said to you as well you thought we' have pop. My response was really measured. I said, we'll see in time whether it looks like we over celebrated it or not Sorry at the time take it back. you're right. I sorry to take that back. you're right. And I said also during that podcast that I think that the one nilled w against Haiti might come back to bite us in the ass and I think it probably has despite sitting here today with us still a chance to go through I was watching that game last night and every time the camera panned into the main stand sat next to Infantino was Morini and my blood boiled B, the president of the SFA sat there in his comfy seat Well he's gone the way my point m. An SSA pl Gon My point the tes the bom A againain, like you said, let me finish my point. My point is this there he has sat there, Morini, sat next to Infantino He gave Steve Clark a four year new deal boy along with Maxwell gave him a four year deal a couple of weeks before this World Cup began. Nobody but nobody in Scottish football. Nobody but nobody in business. I spoke to Grahem Bryce, our boss, asked him who deals with contracts, has dealt with contracts, right?' being serious. I'm being serious. I wanted to get his insight. Would you give Steve Flor? This is the point. No no, no. Remember I'm telling you. Rember I'm telling you about the cycle drive shut your face No, my point is this, this is a guy I was asking him someomeone who's been a chief executive of businesses across the UK, big radio groups and that stuff. Could you explain to me why They would have given him a four year deal three weeks before a tournament and he cannot understand it. Nobody al point. peoplee in business people in football cannot understand why they gave that boy a four year deal. And the reason I bring that up Ronnie, Mulini sitting there. He's responsible for this He is responsible, That's why he should go and we need to rip up the SFA, start from scratch and start all over again. My question is this to you, Ronnie about that four year deal Why Did you ever ask the question? Wh why But what I will s is, and I was speaking to my good Paral Allen suugar yesterday and I ask found you' gonna to You've been a chief executive. you know you've been on the apprent of. You're being sarcastic, you have no like to that Right, right. No what No, let's get back to serious points. And even Clark said, I'm pretty sure Clark said in an interview yesterday, he's going to have to look it I mean, it's the heat of theent that he says it's a four year deal It that me have to look at that. But not only, you speak to the SFA. you're in these interviews. you s from them. Did you not ask Mul Rini or somebody whyy did you give them a four year deal? Did you never ask that question I've no been in an review Mc Rori at all I don't am I mean it looks really it looks as if it's a controversial decision now. I mean, this was always the danger of this possibly happened. Steve Clark wanted his future sorted one way or the other before the World Cup The only thing I can think is that the SFE have rewarded him for his getting us to theup Lody connection I may' like a une I know you like that. But and don't dont I don't personally like it myself, but I think Outside looking end The guy has just ended the twenty year e weight, he's got us to back to back euros That's still the same to think.ready. That's why I've done. When we do the weekly podcast during the normal season I know that you have inside information, you've got your contacts all over Scottish football See when Steve Clarkke came out. in March time, February time when he said he wasn't sure if he was going to be signing a new deal and he was going to think it over Was that his stands because he knew that the SFA were probably looking around to replace him after the World Cup. Was there any truth that that might have been the case? they couldn't get who they probably wanted and then offered to Steve Clark that deal solely on because they did let it drag out for a while. There has to be a reason Ronnie why Mul Rainy and Maxwell dragged that out for as long as they did They have eye on somebody else No That's not case. St Clark was still under contract until the end of the tournament. So they've extended these contracts. They weren't looking elsewhere. There was never a replacement scheme on the go behind the scenes Steve Clark wanted clarity. I think The players wanted clarity. I think we wanted clarity one way or the other because The first game of this Worel Cup against Haiti We'd be sitting there asking Steam Clark about his future. And after every game as future would dominate the headlines. So until so he's allowed that to be parked so that during the tournament they could focus on the football. and then sure, inevitably, unfortunately, because you do reward him for his past achievements present stuff is going to be under the spotlight And I think This is going to be a rough couple of days for the association A rough couple of days for Steve Clark They are going to go back to Charlotte and they're going to have to wait it out. John again, we were interviewing him last night He was saying This is the worst possible situation they could possibly be in. in terms of waiting in terms of watching Of course, the players want to go for it Of course, they want other results to go the way and they can continue this because I think they want the time to redeem themselves, I think desperate to go back out in that field and try and redeem themselves. but I just don't see it The players aren't living up to their expectations. And I tell you, I know you can slag Steve Clark, right? It's no Steve Clarksault, it's Sott McKenna And Jack Henry, who gets a wy one, by the way, massively gets awayy one both to say to Deli Dali on the bowl Clark must be turning his head at you. There's been so many occasions.onat Han not run not marking a runner. That's not on that's on the individuals who are supposed to be representing our country. the players know themselves that they've messed this up. Clark has messed up as well. I get I know we all have Butonnie Ronie, what would say because you're in the stand and I was sat in the house and I was watching and I watched the halftime analysis. So what I'm about to say isn't from me per se, but I do agree with the comments that Rachel Corsy and Scott Brown made at halftim last night Why were we passing around at the back trying to be like Prime Barcelona. Scott Brown was gobsmacked. Why were we doing that? And then loving Brazil to setting those little traps for us while we were passing around as if we' a great technical footballing side. Scott Brown was saying just get up the park. Let's play to our strings. That's come from Steve Clark That's his tactics. That's his setup for the game. Can someone explain to me why we were doing that? And and see when Scott McKenna made that mistake? Did we learn from it? We didn't. becausecause as you say, we got away when when Jack Kendry and Vinicius Jr. takes a ball off him. We kept making the same mistakes over and over and over again. Why were we doing that Talimani fuckia. D far be it to argue with a former Scotland captain and two actually, in Rachel Cy as well, who we all know is brilliant, but You're playing against the two best two the best center halfves in the world, Lauren Sanklin. So I appreciate the sentiment of get the ball at the park, but all that happened anyt timee we did was St Gobbled up and Shanklin didn't anywhere near it far be it from me to say put Lyon Dykes on, he'd be been the difference because I got slaughtered for that as well. but I don't really know what that would change. If you're puing the ball up to Ben Gannon Dke and Lauren Shankland against Marquinos and Gabrielle, it's going to come straight back I think we're on a hide into nothing. I tell you playing the percentages, mate, don't you? If you put in behind a full back and you push up and you press them into their half of the pitch, I didn't understand why we kept making the same mistakes over and over again. We're not technically gifted enough to do that Well, my point of be beingiew being that regardless of what we tried to do last night, the players didn't perform full stop I don't really care what the tactics were last night. Apart from Louis Ferguson and Angus Gunn and arguably Nathan Patterson, I thought Tery did well Yeah, but also fired a ball right in the middle of the park at one point straight to Brazil player and put them on the attack. Like we just shot ourselves in the foot at every given opportunity. So lump the ball forward or play at the back. It was never going to make much of a difference with the players playing the way they did last night If the worst case thing this was hicone Roney Brazil, the Brazil results has not knocked us out. We would always I always feel this preserver'. They broing There's a wle class superstars They brought N that last how was like a coordonation for NMa. I mean, that's how much that the fans, the Brazil fans had a genuinely no concern over us. They were looking at their bench to see when Nya was taking strip off, not was on the field. I think that was a sad indictment about where we are It's the Haiti in the Moroccozult You had you had a good fifteen minutes at the end to score against model H he did it twice. We couldn't do it once Haiti I think had a better side than people are giving them credit for. They've shown that of what they could do against my uncle. But we still bit on that st still bit on that. R. It's not because it's not because and you're right Brazil will like I take the ball He' going he's only good enough way anyway. that will to pick' off B could have uppped gear three or four times. I agree. And I think my uncle could have as well. I think my uncle were happy to just get it there with way I just I was sitting there last night going this is just happening again. I feelel like hungry again. I wrong there Bang on atcord, of course the fans were I mean We had to leave we left about at the ninetieth minute, with the six minutes had done because we had to r runnd down in an interview area And we were joined by. hundredundreds if not thousands of the Tatnama Dnacy. And I fromr here on end I know we need the results to go their way, but just looking at the next few days mean we're in Limbill For the news Weven't we haven't eat this sou it's my lovely phase It's birthday today. Happy birthday, Darl. dad's bthday too, appy birthday dad. We wait here tntil Sunday because we don't know what to do And thankfully, we're in the very privileged position of we don't have to pay for this Hold on me fans Well the wonderful cat Harvey, who I know you spoke to will The viewers will get to listen to that in a minute after this is done These folks have to stay and peay the w. change flights because' what was going to happen. That's not even changing flights to get home. That's changing flights to possibly go to Mexico or go back to Boston I just think this is has ended how how everyone hoped it would. And that's the W Ronnie, you said earlier about they're going to go back to Charlotte and they've got a tough couple of days ahead of them Mulini, your Maxwells, your Steve Clarks, etcetera. the people at the top of the SFA Does Steve Clark survive this if we do not make the lastast thirty two? And even if we do make the last thirty through thirty two through the back door Does he still survive it? A Yes, I think you might do Calum. Yeah. I think the next sort of just think the next euros is at home I' I think they don't offer a four year deal I mean, who knows? I don't J judging by Steve Cloud's body language last night, I don't think he even knows Callum Yeah I find in the exact same boat. I think we'll be here in two years time going to Eururos and Steve Cock will be the manager Do you genuinely believe that column I do because I think We know what he's like. He's a stubborn man and he's now got a four year deal. mean a four years from the end of this tournament, which looks like it's happened to us imminently. So He'll be in that dug out in my mind. I really believe that. And you know, one thing I will say is throughout all this, throughout all the performances, the highs and the lows because there have been highs, let's not forget those. The players love him Letlers think he's fantastic. So of regardless of what we think, the players are going to back him and want him to stay. Another question I'd ask before we wrap this up and we'll be hearing from Cat Harvey live on Miami Beach from a Tartan Army perspective The Tartan arrmy are just as angry today as they were the day after the Hungary game I'm not so sure he does survive this. It might give more might give him a wee bit more time if we somehow scrape into the last thirty two. we go and play Mexico, we put in a decent performance and who knows, shocks can happen. If we're to beat them, then everything that we've discussed today will mean nothing because I'll be doing cart wheels and I'll celebrating and'll be wearing we love Steve Clark looking t shirts, Do know what I mean It can change in a hby and that's what football is But I think if he doesn't come out of this World Cup with something positive, whether it be going to the last or two him putting on a performance and just getting knocked on an extra time or a penalties or whatever. I think he doesn't survive this. I think he has to go. I think he needs to be sacked and I think he needs it for himself as well. A like see what Ronnie was saying He was he got the impression that even Steve Clark was rethinking it And if Ronnie was getting that impression then the SFA might be getting that impression and others might be getting that impression And the stick that he's getting right now, not just because of the way that Scotland are playing, but the way he conducts himself in the media Now that's Connie McLockghlland. and now Ey Barber S, by the way, Aviar Both wonderful people and brilliant journalists, like notot that anybody deserves to be talked to like that, but especially not those two. I really don't get that. See if it was meist stood there with a microphone and I would get it I mean, But you know what I mean by that? everyveryone would expect that. and everybody would agree with that Well done clary, get him to help the funny Woo You're right, Ey Barber and Cony McLaughlin outstanding at what they do. They deserve better. and Scotland deserves better than that. And I think that was so poor last night. I was really, really angry. and I messaged Saban this morning, I messaged Conny and I've messaged Ay as well Early in the morning, I keep forgetting the time difference But they conducted themselves with great professionalism There was what we'll see as a Some of the abuse that he's received over the last twelve hours as Mad Like Esmond that this is the guy that The night of the Deadmark game it was Sus Steve Clark I think football is so volatale And you you are so volatile There's a middle ground somewhere. so I just of it some of it is too far. That is Some of the stuff that I've been reading and seeing is crazy A guy who wants the best for the country who has not performed that major tournament. I just They say Aultt thinkink will suack Steve Clark A to You sign a four year deal. you don't they're not going to sack them. That's a more shit of that But I'm not sure about Steve Clp, not J just go and Do I need this level of abuse? Do I need this doesn't it's gototars of course. Gon As I said the at the top of the show there about Muleni and Maxwell and all that, it's all very claky, it's all very cozy They don't care I genuinely think they don't care. they don't This is what I mean, you go back up honestly. They don't care. They don't give them monkeys. off course they trip to wee four trip. They've handing it for year They're handing it for year deals to their pals. Listen to we're all great. We're all little clique here, We're all pals. We all look after each other so we we're embarrassing territory here. You're walking into embarrassing territory. You've been doing all right. This is my point for you, Ean is right you again for the fourth time or fifth time the day You make a decent point and then just Let yourself down Because people your opinion. donon't slam their opinion. Well, not only my opinion. You see from the com from that as well That's my opinion I know but what I'm telling is at this point your opinion is wrong. O eight. Kama, Joh I' And I will be on the bellboard by myself for next season. What have Ione? You've never been there, Callum? Yeah you' be on the bellboard mate The guys guys guys guys, guys guys. He's holding the jackets. Guys, have you seen the rebrand? Have you seen the rebrand? Have you seen the third face that's on the new rerand? Have you seen it? Do you know who it is? Cold Aonalds time. It's Cold on C with that porno stff. Yes. Can I quick say we wrap up, Ronnie, sorry J just really quick. I know you're huffing and I know you're sick, hear me speak. One thing I'll give Steve Clark, onene thing I'll give him is And I won't get too preachy here because no one wants to hear this at this point is that he just gave us three weeks of the best time of my life with a colleague and Ronnie, but also a really good pal. I got to spend a time in Boston and a night out the day before the Morocco game with my dad and some of the people in media and my mates who I absolutely love got to see at my best palace from high school at the game in Boston against Morocco here in Miami, hanging out with Cat Harvey. and in an eightight club that wasn't really an night club bad as it's been I'm so so grateful to that man for giving us these last few weeks because they will probably be the best three weeks of my life. and it's nice to know that when you're in it. So for as negative as it feels and for as dejected as I am It's worth remembering what we've all just got to experience because it was wonderful Cara just a real reminder that no matter what you two do in future What happened in Miami and Bostson is the best thing that's happened in Callum's life and you're clearly second Until we get m. Please if you aret if you are listening, I did not do anything in that chemical Just to be clear. just to be clear. Right. So the plan of attack is we have to wait and see, we need results to go our way, a few results to go our way Right now at the time of recording, we're givening about a thirty three percent chance of going through. Yeah. So it's looking likely. And we'll wait and see. So unfortunately, not how we wanted the last of our podcast to go potentially last of our podcast to go. if it is to be the end, you and I'm I just say, listen, I think From STV radio football shield point of view, I think we've all done pretty well. We've covered this well Weve did our radio shows in this Saturday And we've genuinely love to thank every single one of you who have listened, who have supported us, who' commented, who shared, who's liked. We hope we've done you proud as well And if we do stay We'll be back. Yes But it's at the moment, we're going to have to end this on a slightly negative note of we don't know what's going to happen yet, but we could be heading out. Can I just fight on say well Cameron Ronie Callum We launched this podcast last October It has been an absolute joy. So if this is our final podcast for this football season, i. e., the leeague season and now the World Cup It's been a joy, It's been a pleasure. I've had so much fun I've a right good last with you've wound me up something rotten. Don't get me wrong over the course of the season cannot wait the start of the new season because I think If it's anything like what we've just gone through, it's going to be another epic ten months of football and banter and last Absolute. E to all the fannies out there who have called us all the names under the sun, we love you as well and it's all part and parcel of the game that we love. As long as you don't cross over that line, we're here, we love it and we're here to to enjoy the football and enjoy our friends and enjoy the banter Absolutely. I think what we should do is we should all give a ceremonial high fes to one another You get a second walk at your find I think. I don't think Calum saw that from Ewan Kavin from Callum Bell and Ronnie Sarters. This has been the SDV radio football show. You're about to hear Ewan and Kat Harvey stick around for that Bye now. Thank you very much to Car Smith and thank you for listening. We'll catch you next time on the STV radio football showhow The SSTV Radio foootball show continues with my partner in Crime fromom the Breakfast Sh. She's in Miami with the Tartan Army. She's one of the best. I love her dearly. It's a one and only Cat Harvey live from Miami be. I know take a look at this. This is not Melport Yne, it's not Portobello Miami beach. it's still a bit pinched me to be honest. It still feels a bit cereal. It's still very early in the morning here. so there's nobody about really, but oh my goodness, what a sight it's just glorious We're recording at twelve thirty Scotland tim. So what time is it there to Miami Beach for you It is seven thirty in the morning. Can you believe it? I'm up at seven thirty in the morning, the day after a game. day after the big game last night, but you had a rather interesting journey getting there because I did see a social media post from you. Is it true and the bus that you were on was taking you to the stadium actually broke down? Three times, threeree times, but there's a funny story about the busos anyway. So basically the stadiums are so far out of the cities that you have to get transport there somehow. so ago my friend Janna sent me a message saying our friend Dave at a pal called Craig that was running a bus. This is how random it was to you and I have no idea who Craig was. So I just sent him a WhatsApp saying, Do you have space for your bus And he came back and he went, I actually have four left. so I managed to get on it. Turns out they're all prison officers from Earth They run their own tartan Army, they're called the jailers Tartan Army. But what a lovely bunch. We had a great time. They had a piper on board, everythingvery was good. You were allowed beers, there was cold water. There was a toilet, very important in bus travel and little bin bags the whole way up the aisle. It was perfectly organized and then about two blocks in, you know that way when you stop the traffic lights and everyone kind of goes didnn't sound good installed at the next set of traffic lights, but then we got about ten miles down the road and I just knew something was happening because the poor man couldn't get out a second gear and then suddenly it just drifted quietly to a halt in the middle of nowhere. It was like See if you pass heart Hill in the MA and Yeah. And then then' that going of be a no man's land. Yeah. We bke we broke down there. We broke down there, right? But the best bit was there was a solitary little gray building that was painted. It didn't have any windows. You had no idea of what it was. You would have put money on it being like a I don't know, somewhere the chop up bodies or It was like wasas it like a seat for the movie hostel? Straight out of a Quintin Tarantino v. Okay. Unbelievable, right? And there was no w We we didn't know what it was. And this little man just poked his head out of a door and he went Do you want beer And everyone was like, of course we want beer. Anyway, it turns out it was a tiny little dive bar, like a E sports bar in the middle of nowhere. And the guy was only there because he was painting it So he didn' he didn't expect anyone to be passing by. He was painting it, put on the lights. The next thing I know within five minutes of the bus breaking down, the boys are playing pool. There's the proclaimers on the sound system, the beers are going. And in fairness to the bus company, they got a replacement bus within half an hour, so it wasn't a disaster. But another one of these ones that adds to the story of What you did in Miami. Great fun you've had some amazing experiences in Boston in Miami And you've been to Mi World Cups over the years, Kat. wouldould it be fair to say this might be the most memorable one that you've been to I mean, they're all memorable in their own way, aren't they? Because they're at different stages of your life and let's be honest, the last one was twenty eight years ago. I was a much different comparison to like My tops fitted better. But yeah, they've all been incredible, but this one's been really special. It really has because there's an element of the serial about it. You know, where I'm you look, I'm an on Miami beach It doesn't feel real. You've got things like you know, the driveress taxis Cars with no people driving going about the city and then the beautiful buildings and there's diners. so it's just a cultural experience. It really is lovely, but really disappointing after last night to be honest, Gutted. Yeah, listen, Away from the football, it has been very memorable and the Tartan Army have been a credit to our nation. They've been absolutelyaz. Yeah. I've enjoyed every video that I've watched and I think you have done a sensational job. You're out there representing STV radio, you're out there representing Scotland and you've done us all proud. You've done absolutely amazing. You are also pissing off a lot of people in the media with what you've achieved and what you've done Well, you've got some exclusive interviews that lots of people in the media wanted, but you got them the right place at the night time, you're enjoy the night people. Yes, exactly. So I' a Chiki face. that's what I Chik face. So to pick up from the story, you eventually get to the stadium and you get to the stadium last night for the game with the Tartan Army. I was watching the game at home last night Kat and' You're in a better place to tell me, but see the national anthems Tarn army and Flora Scotland. But then I thought the Brazilian one, it was just amazing. bothoth national anthems and for you to be there, it must have been spine tingling Pinch's a real pinch my moment. and it's fair to say I get quite emotional at Florida Scotland because obviously I've told you before, it was my dad that took me to my first Scotland game. Every time I went to Scotland game when he started getting ill I would message him or I would phone him or I would faceim and he was part of my journey. He obviously passed away a few years ago now. So these games and these moments they remind you of the people that took you there, the stories that got you there. So I always have a ret tear mye at that. but also there's such a sense of ide abbsolute pride that the Tartan Army have been so brilliant over here, so loved. I mean, Boston, some of the stuff Boston has posted right now, they're basically saying they feel that they're getting cheated on because we're being nice to Miami. You know it's hilarious. They want us back and the absolute dream would be to go back to Boston and play Germany, but that's looking quite unlikely now because I mean the Germans love us as well. But even here, the people in Miami have been brilliant. They've embraced the madness, there's cones everywhere. there's singing everywhere. Last night was a little bit subdued, but I feel like I can't even describe the heat you and how these players ran about for ninety minutes because everyone's sitting in the stands Dket is the only word for it. It's a humidity I've never felt in my life before. So running about in that wow Absolutely. Yeah, and listen, we're not going to talk about the football because I'll just get angry again. I've just had a big argument with Ronnie and Callum about last night's game and Stevie Clark and everything But ye the game last night was a disappointment. It was a bit flat afterwards as well. and we're now hanging on by the by our fingertips in regards to will we get out of the group? and we're to wait for other results to come in, likely to be Mexico in the last thirty two on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. But you're there with the Tartan Army and from what I understand, there's a lot of the Tartan Army who Currently've got flights home, but don't know if they should cancel that flight or whether they should just come home. You're stuck in limbo cat. What's the feeling like where you are with the Tartan Army? It's a bit crazy because it's absolute confusion. It's chaos and confusion with regards to travel. So for me personally, my flight home is tomorrow, which is Friday. We probably won't know until Saturday or Sunday whether we stay through or not. Now I have I'm on twenty nine points in the Tartan Army the Sorters Cub. So I bought tickets to the last sixteen. So I've got my tickets for the last thirty two, I no last sixteen. abbsolutely crazy. but you know I'm a damber, why not? Why not? So I do have a ticket for the next round. So obviously I don't want to go home tomorrow if there's still a chance of us get to the next round, but that involves another hundred pound to change of flight. Yeah. And then there might be twenty thousand people also trying to get that change of flight. And then also there might be like ten thousand people trying to book a flight to Mexico at the same time that a result comes in. It's just it's just, I mean, having it in three different countries as vast and as far apart as this is a little bit crazy if I'm honest, but part of the adventure you and will deal with it when it happens. So So what is your plan th cat? when you going to make that decision in regards to canceling your flight Trutfully, think I'm going to have to. I'm just I'm going to have to, but it's anoy the annoying thing is I could cancel it, pay the extra hundred pound to cancel it get a flight back maybe on Sunday. So that's another ought three nights in a hotel I'll have to buy Yeah That's not sorry, that's not emotion. that's been shown last night. And then to get put out anyway I mean Yeah, you might have to pay all that money. It's going to cost me another grand easily And then get sent home anyway But I don't know I don't think I could forgive myself if we made it to the lastast thirty two for the first time in history, even if it's by default and by goal difference. Do you know what I mean? I not be there, not be there. And there's a lot of people like me. so I've been fall in Scotland since I was thirteen years old and I'm not going to miss a chance for us making history, but it's a big ask totally and see and see so what will you do if you cancel your flight? will you then look to rebook a flight home on the Sunday? Is that Is that the plan if we don't make the last thirty two Well when is the last game that can decide It's a Saturday night Sunday morning. That's Austria versus Algeria. but those two cats they're sitting on three points so they could come in gentlemen's agreement, shake hands and go. let's just go for a drone. We both qualify. Yeah. I would hope they wouldn't do that sporting integrity and all of that, but U I don't know. I think I'll probably have to change my flight today if I'm honest. I'll probably have to change my flight today, but And how were the Tartan Army How were the Turan Army last night, Kat when you were heading home Well,'ll this is my most showbiz story today. Basically Amy McDonald, superstar singer who I hadd done an interview with in the Beach The day before saw my social media video of the busos breaking down. And she sent me a text message at the game saying she had a car if I wanted to lift home. I was like, yes, I do. Thank you very much. So I took a l home with Amy McDonald and Fz, which got me back into Boston very quickly before the Tartan Army I then went down to South Beach sort of just off Ocean Drive. There's a whole row of bars there and every room's a wee bit flat, a wee bit flat. But you know what it's like An hour later it's getting a wee bit bouncy again, a wee bit bouncy. If nothing else we've got resilience. but yeah, generally just really disappointed because we haven't been great in the World Cup. The football hasn't been good We just wish it have pushed forward a bit more The usual, the usual. And then like McTomy has clearly not been, I don't think he's been well. You know how he had a bug at the start. and I think that actually affected him. but Yeah, it's just at the Paul's O' a bit that lets you down, isn't? I am hoping Not I am hoping this isn't the last time that we speak while you're there with Scotland at the World Cup. But if it is, if I was to ask you right now and I know it's a really tough question to answer What's the one abiding memory of your trip with Scotland and the Tartan Army at this World Cup? What will stick in your mind forever Oh my goodness, that's just I think I think basically the love affair with Boston just the the respect that they had and the fact that they're I mean they're literally all coming to Scotland this summer the amount of people that areow to come to Scotland. but I saw you talked about it at the Brexfit show the other day. I mean they are going to expect us to have cones in our head and be standing in tables singing everywhere we go. So we're going to have to raise our game guys. You know these people have been good to us. We can show them a good time as well. but just just the real The love and the energy within the Tartan Army told you before, it's a multig generational thing and it's been really lovely for me to see Mums and dads having the chance to take their kids to something as big as the World Cup and be on the stage. And the fact that we're integrating with all these countries, it's brilliant. the Haiti game, Morocco game, Brazil game, the fans have been superb and that is what the World Cup' all about for me as well Obviously the football but the fact that we're all getting on with each other and stuff is just a really lovely thing T You've been my path over twenty years and I mean this from the bottom of my heart. You've been an absolute start and you've done STV radio proud. You've been superb my friend. Absolutely love you to bets. notot honestly you have. You've not took the park Here's a we question. See if we do get through to the last thirty two. We've sneaked our way through. coming out. We're coming. Are you coming out? We're going to share a margarita. you and me.'ll I'll buy you a beer and we'll sit at that beach hot over there. Kat, it's been a pleasure and hopefully it's not the last time we speak to you at this World Cup Fingers crossed, fingers crossed. I'm gonna wait to cancel a flight. Take care, Pile
