What was your heart like when that one went in I'm not here to talk about the Osban G goal. I'm here to talk about that moment when Laurerenn Shanklin scored at the back post. One of the greatest feelings I've ever had in football. and that's even watching Scotland or Scotland getting through at the World Cup against Denmark. that moment When you wait sixty six years to win the league title genuinely believe this could be our day. That moment will live in me forever Yeah, we know what happened in the second half and Celtic'll get to that C you let me speak And Every we know It's gonna be one of those nice inn' J just keep healinguts. o there you will the side face come up to my place and rive it up. So I't let a mind speak See at the end of the game I've never felt so gutted in all my life in football. That was unbelievably emotional. I's gonna ask if there's three thousand hearts fans there, does that mean there was six thousand tears? St get Anyway, my weekend was shight. That's what you want to hear. My weekend was shight, my week's been shy I don't really want to be here, but I'm here. I'm in a Celtic strap. just what you think, just what you think, your week couldn't get any worse. So forget me, how was your weekend Calum It was good. I went out two nights in a row. The last night was Sunday I'm still ang I'm really struggling. And you know what's really good when you've got anxiety is when two days later you've got to sit on stage in front of three hundred people for the first time in your life. hundred fifty because there are the cheap seats up there fifty back. And but do we need to ask you onon what you're was like You know my weekend, right? but I will give you a wee funny anecote is that I got one in trouble. Big bs Linda, give us a cheer That's the big head of news, boss, right, my boss and I get caught at the game on Saturday. There's a weak guy called Sam North. Give up for Sam North if you know. He does Basically, if you don't know who he is, he's a weak football vogger who films himself at the football games and He was sitting next to me at the game. and there was a couple of times I saw him filming and I clped into his shot and I was like, I can't im in that. It'sorry sound moving it the way. And then my phone blew up because A few people, including the people in news were Eony, I'm going to send you a link to this video. and I think you might want to see it. There it was ladies and gentlemen, Don Robertson, with a fingertes here. I've got my hands and knees and I'm begging them' like comeome on, Don, come on. So Leagueing Cup winner with Celtic, one hundred odd appearances at West Ham, World Cup squad in nineteen eighty six, four caps for his country and forever known as a Mad Shagger thanks to only an excuse. It's the one and only F Dt youselfelic can s along though I to fost two guests of the evening, ladies and gentlemen By the way, it was five cups. No four. fiveive cups. He told me five in this day. Is it? Aually ins side. Sor of an that fract what I, all right? rightight, How was your weekend, B man? Oh, brilliant. Good. St going. How's your weekend? What? How's your weekend? How been good What is you make it in the end? I don't. I went to less I went your blood G we in sat the night Youake You be b co I went in Blred Gowy and I was late in getting there, obviously we was gaming all right and I went in, but you only pited that one was whole hard supp us. And I saidays, L sorry I'm late. I says, but you know, I think I've get three points coming up the roads. You could have done that Oh I then could don too wellill I remember chatting to you a Jim Craig thing but top it there where you slaughtered Celtic after a defeatated in the United. says it was you know they were terrible really quick as a Dun United fan, get absolutely right. enjoy. It was great TM too, Bob If I told you then, you' the winner of the game and won a league in the last day Well, I told you I thought, heart's my favorite. Everyone did. And I says it's in your hands. I said, the biggest biggest thing to sell Nicholson. E high five isud. I kind' of head it that far. He said, But I did say that, but the problem is we hearts, listen, we all know Heart's lost, but was It wasn't last week we lost it. It was. L wasn't it? Everyone's stoking on a bit. you only get five points out twenty one and that's where you lost the league. we do hand bys and all that nonsense. That you paid for your fe. Bically I love that. By the way, I'm surprised you didn't even walk on the stage with John Beaton and Stehven McLlean ton. I mean him, I meanet him in this Dinner Murphys You obviously know Martin well, Well mean in a job he's done, talkalk us through it. Mart Martin, listen, what he's done, I keep seeing his n done short at medical. we've witnessed the mirical because they've no been playing well. They haven't been playing well. T it. like champions they get over a lane. They know how to get there and call him as well. He dragged them over a lane basically. So it's and it's if Martin wasn't it there If you' think that ide dida. I thought he was decent like I would did Do you know what I got nois when he came in instead Martin in my cup fininal instead of let him Martin do it. do a cup final, you know and then him take over after it. And he never even spoke to Martin, which is I think it's a disgrace that he came in and he thought it was good that he' just going to change the whole system and not even Give him a nine nine a training gram, didn't even work on it, just changed that and thought he could do that and then get the Sutlebard it putting a connect four do not h. Do make any cols that connect four m that sorry. A' brilliant, was yeah, it would have been good If it wasn't for him, we'd have been so far ahead and the same as him it took Rangers to lock Loman for jamping or something. I in the water, take jumping in the water. I would have loved that. I feel like I need to deal with the elephant in the room here.? Tw big decisions when se to I' know have my way on ight So I'm going to ask you both Davy and Frank, get the elephant out the room, let's just deal with it. Two big massive decisions went into Celtic's favor. You could say three with the Alis Johnson tackle in the old firm game. You can move if he's want was was was a handball to give Celtic a penalty in the final minute at Fur Park Yes, of course it was fy say look fine. Cost of us. You right. Okay, I'm going actually forget. Well to be honest with me as a footballer I'd say it was a bad decision. but in the lter of the game, that's a parent way. it's not. change it. Maybe I think it was a bad decision because I wouldn't have like D you'd be a human if I was what In the lettererary law, that's apparently. You've just signed some You don'ock him too big wages for that. Spoke to him straight after the game. But G genuly, it was pretty honest with you. Spoke to him straight after the game. he said he's definitely not a handball. Dy touch it? No, no Are you believable I was born and gon Frank Mosa. What did youam make it his season is? I actually se that I just made up. But you spoke to Sam and he's adamant he didn't a touch of his hand. Yeah, he's adamant he' never touch of his hand, but I think we can all sit here looking through this season, decisions go againstf ad them against us.ar Var's no been great for the game in my opinion, and that was another decision that's went against Motherwell on this occasion and it's went for Seltty, but I think throughout the course of the season, you could Seltty go yeah Pat partartsy season over there Well, you' probably have now actually. I just I can't you. But to be fairly Stevie McLan, Stehie McLlean done a bad one against us at eyebrows And then he gets called he's Oh he's a Rangers fan, he's aangers fan and then he does one with Sam Nichols in the hearts and he's a Celtic fan. He's a Celtic fan. it's just for me it's far. fararm needs to change. How I think it needs to change our jank of people' instrument it. I think we need full time officials. I think if you go any walk of your life and there' a full time and a part time, I think the full time's going he stands you in better stead, it's going to make more educated, you're going to spend more time and it and so. Dud you can ask because you'll know this. When you ask the refs why that can't happen, why we can't have full time refs, what's the reason for it I think you're looking at most of the part time referees, the big refs in the game, they've all got good jobs, they've all in high paying jobs, lawyers. I think that's the big one. so you need to implement that to now make the job full time and bring a batchy of refs through that are maybe ex players coming out the game. It's a good salary for them, but asking referees to go full time now that are potentially picking up I don't know, seventy eighty whatever thousand pounds a year. you're asking them to sacrifice that How much does it cost a le a liivving to? So this year this year we it's based on your league prize money. So how the league shortage is one to forty two. So the prize money is a percentage pared position one to forty two. So twelve' got a percentage attached to it. We came up as the team that Kendy came into twelve with his fk that went up as the team that was eleven. So every league position' got a percentage attached to it. So if we say to one hundred twenty thousand pound. If we say to that percentage has to rise to get Full time officials in or to get V, get the bit lines needed to. I'm no a big advocate of spending more money on equipment that actually does work. It's just getting used wrong. So why would we spend more money in that for the same people who use that equipment? I don't think it's technology. I think it's But it's supposed to be just for certain things. It's supposed to be for everything. You talked about a whole flight. I didn't know what I was going me that. I noticed I was going to get a fine with. Thank you But I think it just it's ridiculous the way it's going. I mean, they're stopping for everything and' that's not the way it was brought. It was supped to be to helpll it. Csy gamy The refereees don't re now It somebody sitting in a h Hs in the audience If I gave you the magic wand to get rid of our right now, put your hand up if you get rid of it. Oh geez, well they call them just Sil But we regt the referees w the game again. You know, they might never put some one up Hs. I've never told anybody we wanted to get down so. And no big calls coming on, right? B calls coming on and I think there's no many managers being in my shoes in terms of you've had far, you've know Hv, I'm one of them and see the difference it makes in a Saturday when you score a goal and you' no delayed reaction, you're waiting on a free minute decision The difference in the championship to the preremiership is you just enjoy your football again David, you're looking at me I'm a United fan. We spend more time doing there than anyone. We know okay. because There's referees.ave you seen teaching them? There's referees teaching people how tova. You hear me. who's back? A fucking apart on ter I plastic p. You mean in Presswick Beach. I'm actually surprised, by the way, I've given you stick for a number of years. I wouldn't have noticed And we'll get to the plastic pitchnal, I'm sure it's came here for that you and I came here to get you alone. Have a done I would I'd rather playing a plastic pitch than DNI's pitch. That's for sure. Is that ' he's lost there twice is? That's what happens when G good football has got to shit up place. It does have an impact on how you approach a game. It does inel it like you play football, play a passing game, it's going to have an impact on the game David, can we move to yourself for a minute? A disappointing end of the season obviously. Big change in the summer., a big year ahead.. Just b are your thoughts on rangers I had that one written in. I had that one written in.. That was no bad. Absolute bad. Let's end it there I was forgotten. Livy Guinely did you Ly to do? I's go to answler that one. Now please, what would you make a Rangers and Daniel Roll and all that Fought at one point just before they split that Rangers and I thought Rangers might have been the one that actually kicked on. We all said the same. It been Sell tape. We all said the same. I hoped it was hearts. I really did genuinely hope it was hearts. So I don't know Is it you ever won any of the split Is that right? Just the last game against Falkirk Mico. So the last game sort of was four four at the five there. D't know season just kind of peter theyving they knew they kind of blown it slightly. I think they just lost any wind that they coing themselves and then probably said got to be bitting momentum off the back of that as well. What did you make ar rangers this season, Frank who I was I was quite happy, obviously, but listen, I don't care who I was. If I seen my teammates getting beaten mn off the park or laughing and all that, there'd been trouble in the dressing room because the boys I played way. Yeah. I mean didn't if we didn't do so, we didn't play well, we were arguing to each other Can you imagine somebody com off laughing in that they've just, you know, they've just beenat they're at the tle raceing and they're coming off laughing. No I get it, get it. It just shows you that they're there they're there for is money. They know they they play for the jersey. they know they to play. I don't want to think everyone should be supporters. But when you pull in jerseman, doesn't matter who you, It doesn'tatter if feel Livvingst in Celtic Rangers. You pull that jerseman, you got g him respect And they don't do that, so and I just think that's wrong And some of the players that might turn up against Celtic, you know, and they don't might turn up against Motherbard or Lon and all that and you're like that, reallyally? And that's the kind of players that' coming in. so I don't know that the recruitment there it's nearly as bad as but Celttys. I think looking at that as well he's com in after a window away. Summer windows a big window like everyverybody talks about January. January window is difficult, really, really difficult. So mean you're coming in and taking over a team We a manager that's recruited for that summer window. I don't really care who you are. It's very, very difficult. So you could say you'll judge him after he's had a summer window you se and he's brought the players in. You thought he was going to get sacked I mean, obviously, if I was a Ranger fan I'd be wanting him sacked. He lost all the big games, the games that everybody sacked 'll being. You'll be boughting Mcanis sack in six weeks We'll get to that, don't I. What hands if this I come and take McGinis M Would you then be our angel's fan? mean.n you There had been rumourors flying around if the role was to get a sad then they might go for Dereie McGinness. but he was already in the office looking see rang as before, but it was was disappointed, Derek. Everybody in Scottish football goes, whyy you know done that previously? Everybody knew it was a good appointment insteadady of all these kindy foreign imports and people coming in that underestimate Scottish football. Nancy as well, they just think it's coming in. We have brilliant undersellinger product.ur products a lot better than what you get. We can only tell you in most states negativity. We've got a great look at this year has been brilliant, digt, strip it back. It's been a great year for yous For football. But what did you make of this season as a whole Fank? I mean, Celtic have been so up and down all season. It's been I mean they've no been good. So F heart's gonna win it when they're shut.'re not going come listen H's are going to spend money next year But Celtic' got to get it right. They've got to Rins've spent forty million last year. I don't think they're going to get much more I don't think they're going to give them. Nonless they probably sell to sell, but Who would you have in the Celtic trank? I don't know why I'm hoping it. I've always wanted somebody in before now, you know, to get through sumited by players. So that's why I'm thinking. Bndon' come up. That's why I'm t for a holiday pays tax. can he come back? He actually ls. You come back me You don't tell us you text them. I text, I text them when he get a job. I says if you want somebody to put cone dr it for ten grand a week, I'm your man I done say r for you. I don't know, I don't know. I would imagine I've got to be feeling it's mountainous. Only because he's Only because he's shown. I'm no sure. S Maloney's know but I'm sure you can need to take get some now. I'm not sure you can affold him. Oh I think so. I think I think. I think they've got to They've got it go Or Or they invite toay again, aren't they? Or they offer it to Martin? A get to Matin N know, I think you'll take it for now year. You ask the Celtic fans aroundom to raise your hands if you think Martin New should get a job can' you look at that trackuit for whole year? get money set. Granddad's go out. Can I tell Can I tell you a story about a tracksuit withi? Oh we go through the berlands You can pull the badger. No, we were speaking to one of the insiders at the club who on Martin's second day, he said I need something to wear. The gospel truth is that they instructed somebody to basically go to the superstore, take three sizes of tracksuits and let them try them owns a f game I would like Martin is to come in. You know, I real That's a big appointment. It's a big statement and I think maybe that's why because he's a World Cup And maybe theyve says we're coming out don't we? Scotish football. Scottish football needs. I remember the first year in the premiership and it was Jerard and Brendon. wow, Scottish football. The exposure that we actually got off that. So I think the old forum of bring that gravicas to the league. which sting because this just hurt because it hurts The world is watching Scotish foootball and if they were to commend with Martinez, if they were to bring Martinez after it. But they can still bu the players in the summer because he's all the thing is When you look at bit of Martinez and what he's done and where he's worked, is he going to work under that Celtic board which shambles overs No, Martin Neilon it. He camean, he was a big name he camean and he says, this is what I want. And he got it. But years ago to be ming Iteen thousand season ticket holders because they're all banned of run park. Yeah S some many the boys that were own in pets have been longer than 't drick it The Mother mananager we've got Stephen O'Donnell coming up. Today the Motherwill manager approached from Tououse for Johnesbert toas. As shame to see him if he was to leave Scotland. I think he's been brilliant for Scottish football. I' found that difficult to coach against him but enjoyed that. so enjoyed he challenges someone new coming in andeady Scottish football can at times repetitive, same people, same coaches, different teams. I think James coming in really, really challenged me personally, challenged the groupy players. I had try to find a solution for that. So I'd be sad to see him go because I think he's an asset to the league. What made him because you're not the first manager to say that, What makes him so difficult to manage against? The different styles. so he's coming in for European football and his education like Copenhagen and stuff like that It's different from our education. There's more a European element to how he wants to play football. And you'll see he changes shape, changes his system, sometimes plays with no wingers, sometimes plays a four two two. bit alien so trying to pick it up. But if you actually study Copenhagen and other teams that he's been at, you'll find that identity The repetition is Scottish football. someomebody's been at Dundeee's now's a man manager, he's a commandment manager. It's the kindy same identity they've got so it's quite easy to no play against them, but it's quite easy to work out what they're trying to do. How nervous were you that second last game at F Park whenteltk her to go there because I mean when mother and mother are on it I know there's a couple of differences I've played and you get that in h They've got to go down and win. justust you know, they didn't you couldnt go down and have a draw. And you stall out any players, the players have got up winning mentalally. And they went there, but you know, the first ten minute, fifty minutes, the gu good forree goals. And they didn't have a out out striker and. That wass a bigger dw in the end. got a bit nervous. You know what fast I hide the k. I thought any archo was bl a fast when he came on. Iast I. See if you get any archual get We have a fast get him preseason, get him fit He's for nothing. You' be big money, but if you sell you sell him in two years Indon, Brendon brought him money stuff That was I the time last minute I know that he got btered for it. startarttered for it hope I genually think he actual changed that for Hart in that heart Celty game at Parkead. I like a boy Ox Chamberlains? Well, he's boss Champions League finals, you know and to come in, you get him for it and getting an adual two player I meet Scottish football. O course he I mean there but know he knows what it's like if he is if he is into preseason he was' a good preason went C he has. I mean he' ask is talk about the final day this season. I can't quite remember a season like it. I remember being Easter Rse for a helicopter Sunday. and that was phenomenal what happened in that particular day. But I don't think anything has come close to what we witnessed the weekend there at Celtk Park. That was just as much as I'm disappointed, upset, annoyed, angry, frustrated and all that, it was phenomenal be a part of it time Yeah And in a cold like David I look back and I'll be going fuck to be part of that was amazing. But at the time when full time M agoes it's a nightmare. And I'm not going to see the exuberance of the fans when the pitch. Here's the thing about Celtic in the recent years is that they've won the league comfortably for a number of years. It's normally done by the split before the split fixures. It's basically a tour of Scotland for the Celtic fans Because I've already won the league. They've known a league like that for years, the final day, the excitement around it. So I kind of understand the exuberance of it, but they shouldn't have been on the pitch. We know they shouldn't never have been the pitch. You know a great look for Scotland? That's my point That's my point.. why they the pitch if you're in a pitch, you go to your empl players, you don't go. mean, hearts have just losed to le Exactlyly They're absolutely guty. The S some did they ran at me, you know I teend to punch him out, wouldn't you?'s the one to you use up there. You'd been very tempted, put it that way, wouldn't you? if there's a grown man running giving a v scentage shankl then, I'm going, what are you doing? You know, it's a grown man. I know but it's a poor look. I know it's a poor I I didn't look good either. That's the thing terrible crazy. The excitement around the game. And for me it was a shame as much as I was annoyed at Harts had lost the league, it was a shame they ended in that way After what was a fantastic season you know what in fairness, the Celtic fans who the majority of which were still in the stands were booing those Celtic fans on the pitch so well done to them. They knew that was wrong in a bang out of order. It's a minority always look at I've never turn skkyboort news on and seen so much Sish that weekTV new I on STVs well. Well done. Thank L I mean you've got skky newews and it is constantly exposingmediably. The point I was getting at is that the SFA are going to have to do something during the summer to put sanctions in place to stop that from happening Deavy, you're involved when it comes to pitch invasions and what we witnessed on S I did h one ice what sort of sanctions should be in place in your opinion? I'll tell you what, I was growing up, I was probably one of A that jumped on the park when I was growing up. So if you say there's sanctions for a Celtic fan running on the park, I'd probably get a Celtic ticket and run on the park It a Celtic fan. So I would find a way to impose that on the other club. I think that's what will happen It very find a way to make sure theyre sanctioned. so I'm not a Celtic fan, but I'm going in the Celtic end and running on the park. so I think season tickets for Dave you would know who tick it could be a we game? The home club gets sanctioned for their we So fans on on our park. We get sanctioned But then Davy, what kind of absolute? Mon would dress in a Celtic strip when they don't support the club. That's a tough one. a ch that Asps, Asppects, sex ones and berlenian, you've never seen that do you think I step out of line with some of the things I say? I've not watched anything you've done. Yeah Stand up mate, let's see stand up. Come on, stand up. let's see. Yeah on you cant you look worse than him. Come on. So first of all, what's your name and where are you from? Gdy, Bishop Bregs And who dod you support Gady? Aeltic Wh'd you support? Lookome? Hello. I's been poled. Who's your question to? Frank. Yes. Is Carin McGregor leaving?ost post match who was on the page. You had Katie and you had Ary both talking him up and it sounded like he was leaving and he was crying in the pict and all that. made something made me think about it because it's the first time in about ten years But the new stripss come out and Colm's know a for. Oh Sherlock Holmes. it's because you into the foot instead. Len, Hid Basson, Calm's done Broant. He's been with his Broright. If he was to go I the only place he'll go is SZy to Brendon. And if Dermit doesn't spend money, then he's off. Hi, you're handsome. steadyeady It's cheaper than Tinder. Is that Yellowstone? What's your name and where are you from Hi, I'm Andy. I'm from Wrenre I you support Andy, Gosgo Rers way the Bald man's turned off Well done. who's your question to? It's for David Martendale, the man himself. So longt time listener first on caller panel, goodood to me y'all. David spoke really well about European managers such as Jemes Berth Alaska. wondered what makes him different from other European managers we've had in the past that don't quite get the Scottish game as much. I think he's came in and he's kind of ripped up the blueprint. I think someone said at start of the year. everybody plays football it start the year. pitches are great, sns up play football. Jenes has continued that throughout the season, what you'll probably find he stuck his principles. He stucked his principles and that's what's made him be bit unique because what I've done previously, what other managers have done You lose a few games, you go to a five, you go a bit me risk a verse, you drop a mty low block. I think James' identity stayed pretty consistent throughout and that's what he's done different. He's played the players' self belief, but there's been a lot of self belief for James in there as well. So I think that's what he's done different, stopped these principles and played to his identity. I need to ask you, Danni Roll, do you want him to stay If he's back twel, then I think you give him a chance, but as long as Davavey's there to che him on inside then you. And mayate see before you go, just give cat your number. R a cou two more! And she scores. In twenty nineteen, you said that Derek McKinnis is a bottler and not a big club manager Ddady Ddady Daddady. Why don't you come and see this? Come on, come on. ask him me to p. I feel I feel like we need to What did he say? In twenty nineteen, you said Dery McKinis is a bottler and not a big club manager. So after being at top of the league for two hundred and fifty days, is Derdy McKinnis a bottler? Our heart's just not a big club that we Jesus Christ thank you. Iite what he said in two thousand eight. How did you remember that? They remember everything? it was when it was rumored that he was going to go to Rangers and he was in a hotel room in Glasgow and Stuart Milm phoned up and persuaded we stay at Aberdeen. and I did call him publicly that he was a bottler for not taking on a job at Rangers. That was then He's no a batler. The boy isn't a bler, Definitely not a boatler. But a question that was meate. Some people I wouldn't say that maybe Bald it and Saled, but I'm not going to say that. I'm not going to say You've won your cella Cl TikTok. Yay The floor is the Frank Mak of. Can you please welcome to the stage my good pal C Donald. T me. Oh, whatome Look on Iat line out of here cold Don. o, thanks for joining use from High school. That's what you good. Your microphones are from Mala these s. And yes, he's in the room ladies and gentlemen, from Motherwell, the man who I personally believe should be in Steve Clark Scotland S squad but we'll get to that in a minute Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you. A wonderful season, the one and only. Stephen O'Donnell, Stepen O'Donll You're good looking mate. Vyer we were an update for the first horse, ladies and gentlemen I just moved out of right? How are right gentlemen? I I'm just down of stress because Fras are darling, I love you very much. I love you. Can you see your sweat faties by? Oh Jesus dangerous. So before we do it, the breaking news. Your manager's gone As's it. I'm an w war I' know. ninety nine percent done, but not over the line yet, but your reaction to that breaking news is that he's off the fence. He has chose to go to to lose if that's the case and if he has, it's a great addition for them And look he a great season plays very attractive football, which as David was talking about earlier, it's If you're open to new ideas, it's really enjoyable and best luck him in the future. How big a miss would the beatating mother will? It would be a massive miss, but it's another opportunity for another manager. I felt whenever wimmer left last year, I thought it was going to be a hard person to replace because I'd found he was trying to change some things and I was excited to see how hed done that. He obviously didn't fancy the Scottish weather And then Janes came in And obviously he's came in and hit the ground running to be honest after the first couple of draws and it was good, great to playing. Stehven, don't take us the wrong way But you look like Prime Bereisee under As you. What did he do your game because you were sensational this season and you should be in the fucking Scotland squadate you were that good. I agree. Yeahonald. should be So you've been you've been outstandingly outstanding, whether it be a full back or a second and a half, you've been outstanding What did he do to you in your game Look, I think what it shows is that There is players in Scotland that can play football. A lot of the times with pigeonholed. I see Pa Mannet fifty five St playing exception. I was that Steven, I get them all mixed up but not in I would have said he's probably been our best player this season. and It's too have a manager that has his style It dictates. If you don't do that, you're not going to play It just gives you clarity. It's quite a buzzword just now. I'm on my way license and clarity is the word they allll talk about. and that's the thing that Yen's done. It gave you clarity. You had to be demanding the ball. It sounds simple, but you had to want the ball. You had to be open to make runs to give teammates space and it sounds pretty simple, but that's if you want to play football, that's what you need as a fundamental And I'm not too old to try and learn and I want to improve. and thankfully I was able to play a decent role in the season. Just on that, you've obviously worked with some good managers. we know about Steve Clark. Where does Jen's rank and all them Look I lost my dad until a bit two weeks ago When the squad of fifty five came out and I was the. But no look, I think Steve Clark I loved he came in at a time when I was maybe struggling, found out a tough time at the start of Comarock and he came in gave simple ideas, organized us, recruited really well and made us a very good team. And we finished studd, by the way, a lot of I kind of talk around gens, but Steve Clark did finish studD and we We at times we defend the well, but we play good stuff. But yeah, Yens is a completely different type of manager, very European, wanting to play all about possession, a lot of stats, a lot of rotations, all these kind of things that I'm sure you have all heard I name And yeah, A funny thing that we discuss I remember Craig Levine gets slaughtered for playing no striker. probably about six or seven games this season we have actively had no striker. Now for different reasons, but nobody criticised that. It's been open to his ideas, the ideas fortunately were successful and it brings a real positivity around Mudle So who is Belle? Cool back in in it called Donnson. I would have saed Steve Clark because the time he came in for me, I was able to Rll in, Bastard Jude. It's too late, mate. it's too late. look there was everybody in this crowd probably wanted me dropped in the first game of the Euros And Steve Clark exactly. there I think bre and I find that somebody that believes in you is crucial. and he didn't even see anything. He didn't even say you're playing the next game, you're no playing the next game. But after that England game he showed the faith and to keep me in I played well for him. and the first person I wanted to see was him. I wanted to go and give him a hug And no other manager has showed me that level of faith. and regardless of what MDC is, I can't really say anything negative to them. Yeah If if you regularly listen or watch the podcast, you'll know' on at audit time basically that's the. C called Donaldon the Folker C captain's a regular guest and he's brilliant on the podcast and you'll know that he's a big, big jambo What C Cl and I were fucking cursing you when you blocked that shot for long time. I was just reminding them up there. I showed them They showed me a photo of up there. was a Celt tech fan page on Facebook. It's embarrassing. He phllows them up. did that Co, here's the thing, right? Here's the thing, if you might know this But Folkirk are one of only two clubs They were unbeaten against Motherwell and Cars Folkirk were one of them, and that was John McGlenn Masterclass. What was it about John McGlenn and Folkir? that you could stop Motherwell from beating you. And how many minutes did you actually play? It was nothing to do with me, nothing to do with me. We're just speaking about out there actually, and it was bizarre because you'd watch Motherwell through the week. we do so much video analysis Some of the clips were like mental and just how good they were. Stehvens talked about the rotations, no striker so really difficult to go up against and. The formula for us was literally just a man for man and then leave certain players in certain areas and More often than not it would be the wide areas because Mother wouldn't tend to score while lot of crosses be more hurting you through the middle. So if we could really compact the middle of that pitch, be strong through there then That would be advantageous for us, but it was hard and it was a lot of like we spoke about it on the podcast a couple of weeks ago, it was it was all down to hard working boys Stehvens talked about it again, willing to buy in to what the manager wanted and if one person didn't then Motherwell were that good that they would punish you. So things got ramped up each week for Motherwall. But our goffer was Yen's biggest fan. Loved them. whenever we played crap or couldn't do something. Well, Mother of all can do it, so how can we not do it? I got all credit to them. They've been brilliant and we just managed to sort of find a wee formula where it went well. Well he's missed out is they left me on it, that was leeave it don on it, they're all right. Let me ask is, I mean You're a hearts fan clelearly Steven O'Donne's Zeldg fan. What did you make it the final day call? Where were you watching the game as a hearts fan? Well, you were there for the Rangers game, weren't you? He was watching the balger in the back of an Ebit five times the Rangers. Surday was just shite, wasn't it? It was just a shite day. I've just erased it from my memory S. So where were you so you were there at the Falkirk Stadium losing your Rangers, but you weren't playing because they're wrapping up in Cottonweel for next year. You've had some injury problems this season Were you aware of what was going on at Celtic Park fully aware ye. fully aware. So I always take my Apple watch, I never wear my watch obviously you're going to play. but my girlfriend was under strict instructions. If hearts got a throw in in the Celtic half, I was to be made aware of it. But no, you've obviously got a job, first and foreost it is the most poor answer and I had the game so full focus was on that, but once we had made the fifth substitution, you weren't coming on I was keeping a keen eye on what was going on at Celtic Park. Was there other players doing the same? Yeah this is got this is spread, hasn't it? Iy? So halfime. there Somehow our game was in front of the Celtic game, so it had gone halfim or whatever And I've just wandered into the coaches room, no shut the door behind me. Game was on the tellle Next thing I've got half the Ranger Squad sat next to me. I've got like Rasking with his feet up on like chairs and that. I'm like Lads, this is the coach's room like this is like I was like you sne, but it was like it wasn't just players, it was staff members as well. It was mental. It was What was like as a horse fan, you've dealt with your game. You know what's happened at Sldto Park? How did you feel Herric man,. I've been Y are, you become a footballer and these things they do like it sort of tends to dull and we spoke about it. I spoke about it with my dad after the game because obviously he was like inconsolleable our biggest jamo you could come across. But I think as a player and Stehen will probably elaborate on this. I think You sort of learn how to deal with these disappointments as a player. You have so many through your career. So You're almost good at dealing with disappointment whereas him my brother's in that either. I need to go check because got my little brother's stagged down on fride. I need to go check that he's got to come out at that dark hole he's been in Surday after the Ste didid you get app a watch on during the game at Hips Easter road Easter Odi No because after playing both of them, I thought you were feeling better than them so I Just sitting in anger. No look I think him Despite when I've heard Frank talk about it about the Rangers players and feeling like when they're laughing at the pitchen And it's something that I genuinely say a joke and kind of a laugh. When I was a young boy growing up I a Celtic fan and And if you were to have any pack, you I would rather them if it wasn't to be us And Whenever I played hars, I was desperate to try and affect the title race When I played Celotic you were even more desperate to affect it. I thinkath I was probably more nervous playing Celtic because the full week I' been getting peppered off, peopleople saying you better be trying don't know me that well, but it's like, arere you kidding me on? Like there's nothing I would love more than to have a good game of football every time I go into pitch And that I started get a bit like What if I actually do make a mistake? as it happens and made two against Dundee C is one in the league and u and I'm just going like I find myself at thirty four nervous because everybody thinks I weren't tilt the way I could again was. Just for both you Because I'd like to know what's the most difficult of the two that you played against when you played for your teams Cold up, you probably did the play. Stephven It's funny when Ia, in it.'s got Scot Cter finalough C Yeah Yeah yeah yeah. But but be hon, I was speaking nico call in the buildup to the game at Tycastle on Wednesday night when Falkirk were there and Goal informed me that he was playing And I was like, C, going let Bragas score a couple of goals while you. He turned to the best player on the night for Folkg and that just shows the integrity of the guys, Stehven and we call Celti fan, Hartz fan. But they were outstanding in both those games. and I think it says a lot about the boys who put their professionals in first and not what who they support or who they grew up supporting. So well done to you both let all make one happy family again. He, Scotland. so I think there's a lot, especially in your podcast who are Agling for at least one fulkrk player, if not more than one to be in this squad How are the boys? and are you gutted for them? Be L's a Calvin Miller Farurnishice to for Taylor. they were in the they were on the fifty five anyway and they were they were Hi hos. Yeah, I think Bey as well Scott Ban Iew missed one Scottane of course. I think the big one for Baney was how well they played in the friendly leading up. I think at that point he'd have been well within his rights to I think they it would be in the squad, but yeah, I think Calvin Miller especially we spoke on the podcast a couple of weeks ago about a sort of wild card. I don't think he would be a wild card within that squad. He's I think he thoroughly deserves to be there. He is different to what Scotland probably are taken and As much as there's been a lot made and Good on Finly Curtis because he got called up to that squad when maybe folk were a bit surprised, his formms being excellent. so He deserves his place in And but Calvin's formed the last few months has been an That game you were talking about at Tyncastle and as a jambo, you'd have been the fear ripping out you because Calvin Miller was the best player on that park and that's a team that was going for the tle in this country and he was Outstanding. I see them day in day out and G gued for him but. Hopefully it it's one of those things. It's how you deal with those disappointments. Can I ask you because there have been rumors circulating and I sent you a picture of Calvin Miller and a hearts talk. Now there was rumors in January that you might be signing for Celtic in a last minute deal didn't happen V it moves very close. The rumors are now that hearts are sniffing a boot and they're going to be putting in a six figure fee. Have you heard anything about Calvin Miller moment to Hearts in the summer? No, I haveve not heard anything personally, but from a folker point of view I hope he stays he's only a year left in his contract. So these things tend to play out how you How you hear them but Would you expect him to leave? You wouldn't be surprised. I think And you wouldn't he's deserving of his move join Folkirk in League one on a free transfer He's takaking the club from League one Championship. topop six in the Premier League, how could you begrudge someone a move like that att his age as well, I think he's twenty eight so Maybe I sort of last opportunity to have a move like that. Was there any surprises for you in the squad he's the inner. Oh look. At what point did you find out were you in the fifty five No I think Most players found out when the previous squad was announced the one for the to families Look at, it's not something It's very hard for thirty four to be expecting to be in a Scotland squad. Would I have loved to be in a Scotland squad? Of course. but by the camp previously I'd already booked my flights, I was going regardless. so would I have loved to had three flights Air France via Dublin want they offer in refund so thenar but look I was you don't really expect I've been I've been out the frame for a while. so I wasn't I wasn't not bered at. I would lo love to have been in it. but then obviously we hear the fifty five man squad came out. I think there's only one mle player in it and obviously you then know one hundred percent you're not in it Andm, but look, I think we Personally, I've been delighted with the season. I was trying to get on loan at the start of the season because I was sure that Yenss wasn't having me. So football changes quick. I've been fortunate I got another year, delighted to be Mudle. and beyond that, I'm pretty happy getting to spend an amazing season with a manager and then getting to go to the World Cup with my son like Pretty speial. Glose for now. Oh yeah I'm leaving to homeo. Steve on that when we talk about the World Cup squad for you, how expecting are you that Scotland can go and do what they've never done before and make history? Look, I think it's going to be hard. Haiti is obviously the game I'm looking at and hoping that we can get three points Morocco Brazil like look I'd love to been going to Miami. That's pretty special all around sounds like a hell of a cool experience. but certainly the first game in Boston, hopefully great support as Scotland always in the big occasions of hard down and Weembley, the euros I was in. Germany didn't get to go but look sensational from a a fine perspective. Hopefully we can do the same in a different sort of culture in different setu up in America, but the boys will appreciate it. The boys will he is if not see is. I think we can get a win, which would be amazing and again get us off a great start. Ross S in Finley Cut us in I mean, the rest of it was pretty rubber stamped, I think for a while, what's your thoughts on back to that question? Any surprises? No look de I was surprised lning, my Iow was out at the squad. I've not seen much of him since he's been in Italy, but what I do know he's a hell of a talent. and if we can I encourage these talents to keep growing, I'm sure they have a great future Why he's out the squad? I don't quite obviously know Sorry, Cole, what about you? is there someay that ss noow in the squad that should be there? Maybe O McBurnney would be there, but I think he maybe Berney's bridges a few years ago. E. I was at that Steveie Clark presser the other day. Right. So all was unrosty. That was frosty. All of McBurnney, for those who are unaware, phones Steve Clark to ask Why's not in the squad for the Liverpool I'veit a coast game, blah, blah blah. He then decides to tell the local newspaper about his phone call with Steve Clark and why Steve Clark thinks that he shouldn't get a score at this time We all know Steve Clark. You don not go public with private conversations And I think under Steve Clark We haveve saw reports today in the Times that he's going to extend his deal to twenty twenty eight. Ultimate on the You're no coming back for that. He said, that should have remained private, disappointed. it's gone out and so on 's no good. He's no back. With fullkirk and you finish in the top six unbelievable achievement What was the toughest game for folkrit this year? What were the players that you were up against that you were like going shit they're good. Well whenever we go to Selic Park, we just can't seem it get it right for some reason. We almost like get to the half hour markark concededer go and then the floodgates open. Hearts, the two up front for hearts are exceptional like I've never faced I think because it's the two of them and the questions that they ask you. So Shanks is going to take you bring in short And whilst he's doing that Bragger' making that running behind and. he's constant. He's just like a liive wire. So those two and then obviously Chermitt he scored about sixteen goals against Falkk this season. So he was all right By all these top teams have got and but that's all the hard work, I think when we were at places like Montrosees on Wednesday nights and Ky Hearts. These are your rewards and as much as it's a really difficult challenge You're at the top table and you're playing against these top players. it's been thoroughly enjoyable. You did. come up against meet in that game When you were tun up two, two then they ran right and said can have what should meet you like as a forward as a player I think he's just going to go from strength to strength to be honest. I think he ased you a lot of difficult questions. He's one of those strikers where I don't know what Stehven's like, but before the game, you can look at a striker and go, right, well, I'm a wee bit bigger than him. So if the ball goes up in there then I'm just going to bang all my heaters or win all my heers. He's almost bigger, stronger, quicker and better with a ball than you see Be before the game, you're a wee bit like all my. But these are the things that you do you think about as a professional player If he can get it right and it clicks for him, which tends to happen against us unfortunately. Hees, he's, but you would expect that. We spoke about it on the podcast when youre paying nine million pounds for these players like that That's no really like surprising that he's a weebit better than others. C, you've obviously come a hell of a long way. You're the captain of a top six Scottish Premiership club. But we've talked about this in the podcast before that when you played as a center back for Dundy United, don't do Me and my dad, who is sixty six, used to make donkey noises. Ew, Ew when you played for our team. And just before we get to the Q and A, my dad's just sitting right over there in case you want to give myave Look I jon his seat yes, sh. St up, dude. comeome on. off you get? We go sit shit. I said like I've thanked those fans for that because it made me a better person. It toughened me up and it's I'm mentality worriing. I a bit like Steven, but What isab been? nineteen nineteeneen nineteen nineteen nineteen year old. nineteen year old and you Sy noises your prep Don't call my dada, Pick. Siton. You no bear, Jeffer , that's all f Manas, be called E before you go up on stad fininal question to Stehven, you're your moment of the year, your a moment of the season for you personally. you want to put at misliding in with all my might and blocking shankls fast shot. I always said. No I thinker. P Probably the moment of the season, moment of the season. you I dont the boy you li I just please I pulled them in this corner Line up for. It. What? We're both lying there. No we're definitely recording this I. And I apologized him. I said, Eli I Seni you the first game against Ehouse Muir And I thought we were in trouble. And I just didn't thank you suited Scottish football And I couldn't have been further have been father from a truth he He digs in,'s stuck in. I don't know what the foker boyys He' stuck in about everything. and I know obviously for being small in stature, you're going to have a bit of ability and he has bags of ability and I just hope he's an amazing World Cup. He's excellent. he's excellent. And your moment of the season? Don't see being Dundyight. No, no, no, not. I'm not obsessed like you. I would say And Kelly, Kelly five one at home. justust for me, it was one of the rare games I played and we won five one and it sort of secured our top six. so that was a big, big day for the football club. So yeah, that would be my highlight. All right, J, giveive a big win of applause.ive pause, please And welcome back Uan's brereakfast course, Wkwife. Wwife, please welcome back to Harvy Wait wit wait wait wait, wait, Wait, wait wait Where you know it' Stehen O'Dnell's wedding Yes Oh. Ifave you look at our story about him? Does anyone want to know what the entertainment was? Steen to know The entertainment was Stephen O'Donnell Uh huh. Cheap skate wouldn't even pay for a wedding bund that is in wedna. What you don't realize is is this boy is not only beautiful, talented and an amazing football player, he is the best rapper in Scottish football I'm thirty four I dream of asking him, but you could. Do you want to hear Stehen rap 're p'. Jy I'll give you a couple of les right, however. However, the context was My brother and my best mate done a roast of Steve McDonnell and they were saying how I was this thing, I was this thing, I became a rapper. And they were slaughtering me. And then they went like this and gave me the might The music came on and I'm going What am I going to do here? So it's like, I'm damned either way. So this wasn't what I wanted to like this wasn't meant to happen, okay And now you've done the same thing. So I really, really appreciate it. So Steven, up you come here, mate. comeome on off everybodyond That. There you go. Genuinely one of the best guys in sp. Cple it bar from Stephen O'Donnell If you're feeling like a pimp, go brush your shoulders off. Ladies' pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off. Ladies it'srazy, baby. donon't forget that boy I told you get that Gut off your shoulders. I probably go with the y'all proud to be laed by the force, trying to hustle some things. that go with the porch, feel no remorse, feelt like my hand was forced R Chging double. Why did it gentle bring your hands up if you got questions? any questions?y questions, any questions Oh wit. What is your name pretty you from? O if I teach you just wor work. He' faithe He's five get he's five fanan R. Who's your question for and what? questionions for call. Obviously a falker side has come right through the divisions and you's have brought a co of that squad from League one. What advantages has that brought you in the preremier shhip having the same coar of guys? You you see them next year Hey Ronning, thanks me U it's a really good question. It's I think there's u We're almost just best mates now in terms of like it's this it's a throwaway comment but we are. We've all been on holiday together back to back leads. there's a camaraderie, there's an honesty within the group, there's a Willingness to learn, there's no real egos and we doing loads of videos. So when the gaffers' pointing at sort of mistakes, boys are willing to step up and say that was on me, we take responsibility. And then when boys are coming into that group, you need to buy in or you get pushed to the side and that's what it is. So that sort of and Working culture is amazing and that's the big job that we've got on our hands for the next couple of years because that squad might get broke up, boys get their moves or people leave. We've already started to see people leave. so it's a big job for the wrestlers that are still there Ladies and gentlemen The one and only Cal Donaldson is Also, can you please give it up for Frank Macer Bany and also David Martin, deal up thestairs they are Thank you guys, much appreciateated that's it ladies and gentlemen Can thank you enough for coming out tonight to support the podcast Right a blus for Ry shot eyes G Harvy Tellam Bell.
