Last night there was a big primary President Trump basically strongly in one of the most expensive primaries ever oust thirty million dollars that Yeah, Republican Cgressman Thomas Massey. Everyone was watching this because it's interesting. Thomas Masy, very conservative voted with Donald Trump on many, many, many things His cardinal sin, it seems, was to push for the release of the Epstein files. He was very vocal against the war in opposition with Trump He was very vocal on a few very key things that President Trump did not like and President Trump made it a mission to get him out. What does this say about the fact that he was able to oust him? What does this say about Trump' grip on the GOP. You know, a lot of people ask me, why are you still a Republican? Part of the reason why I'm still a Republican is so I can vote in Republican primaries because what happens is In Kentucky, it's a closed primary, right? In some states, you can vote even if you're not in that party. In other states, there's primaries that are jungle primaries like in California, where it's a nonpartisan primary. Kentucky and most states, Florida, it's a closed primary. You can only vote for the party that you belong to. And the universe of people that vote in primaries you know, true blues. in this case, true MAGAas, red blooded Republicans who hang on Donald Trump's every word and with whom he wields an unbelievable influence On the Massy case, And it's not just massy. It's Bulber who he's attacking now from Colorado. It's Marjorie Taylor Green who he attacked and she left Congress. All of them what they have in common is that they are Republicans who stood up to him on the Jeffrey Epstein case. Remember, Lauren Bobert is the woman, the congresswoman from Colorado that he brought into the situation room to bully her and pressure her into not voting for ordering the release of the Epstein files. So I just want people to keep that in mind What he is pissed off about when it comes to Thomas Massey, when it comes to Lauren Bober, when it comes to Marjorie Taylor Greene is that he wants to keep the Epstein files hidden and that he lost on that because They voted the other way. He also yesterday endorsed Ken Paxton in Texas. This is something that he had stayed out of Uh But Texans know what's up. Listen, he got, you know He got impeached by the Texas legislature, then then acquitted, but the Texas legislature then impeached him was solidly Republican So and this is something that the Republican party probably didn't want him to do. Oh definitely. I mean the he's running I guess John Corn. Right, whoo's been in the Senate forever. I remember John McCain used to call him a senator out of central casting who is incredibly conservative And loyal with Donald Trump. He has voted with Donald Trump like ninety nine percent of the time He was critical of Donald Trump after the january sixth insurrection the same way that Mitch McConnell was, the same way that a lot of folks were and then changed their minds Since then H bothoth Cassidy. so he is so look at all the scalps he's taken just in the last few days Cassidy, the Senator from Louisiana who opposed him, who voted against him on the impeachment after the january sixth and the second impeachment, he took him out out of retribution and vengeance Massy because of the Epsteam files Taylor green because of the Epstein files Bober He's attacked. He hasn't brought her up And now he's endorsed Paxton against John Corn. Every Republican in the Senate wanted John Cornan to be the nominee. He's got a much better chance to win the general. If it's John Cornan, then if it's Ken Paxton who's got all of these skeletons and are not even in the closet. They're out of the closet and dancing around. So What it tells you is number one that he's emboldened by the fact that he's been able to get some out. I think Cassidy emboldened to him to go after Masssey as hard as he did. I think Masssey losing last losing and he knew he was going to lose. you know, he lost by a large, large percentage is what emboldened him yesterday to endorse Ken Paxton Um basasically Any Republican who has Stood up to Trump confronted Trump. as either lost in primaries retired or died John McCain you know, chosen not to run like Mitt Romney to me in Pennsylvania. or lost And so it is more and more a Republican partarty in Congress that is in Trump's image and that it is completely beholden to Trump. Why I say over and over again that if the American people An expectation and desire for checks and balances and accountability and oversight. of the things that the Trump administration is doing They need to elect Democrats because Republicans don't take him on because Trump has proven The reason Trump is so consequential and so powerful is because he is Willing too go deep down, be petty and exert, flex his political muscle, right There's listen, there's there's all sorts of of precedents could have made differences in primaries. I mean, you know, George W. Bush, McCainne used to take him on all the time. Barack Obama had to deal with some folks who were thorns on his side who were Democrats. But it would never occur. precedident to go take out an incumbent just because they disagreed one percent of the time or three percent of the time or five percent of the time. That's why I can't get ped. I mean, if we had Thomas Massey or Cassidy on the view He would disagree with most of the people at the table most of the issues, I would say, these are solidly conservative people and it's just any slight is a. And it's completely completely opposite to what Ronald Reagan used to say, right? Ronald Reagan's eleventh commommandment. that shall not speak ill of another Republican. But also look In the case of Cassidy, who is a doctor from Louisiana, it's a huge loss for Louisiana because he's got seniority, he's chair of a Senate committee. So the things he can do are much greater than somebody that's going to be coming in new. But in the case of Cassidy, who is a doctor, I think he's a gastroenterologist He voted in favor of RFK for Health and Human Services Secretary knowing that RFK was not fit for the job, knowing that RFK is some anti vaxer conspiracy nut And he did so to try to ingratiate himself with Donald Trump so that Donald Trump wouldn't come after him. And that didn't work. In the case of John Cornn, he completely changed his tune on the filibuster on how he feels about the filibuster and it has been doing nothing but going up and speaking sucking up to Trump. every time there's a microphone in front of him, John Corn has been sucking up to Trump and Trump did not forgive the criticism after january sixth. So If anything I hope these folks understand that sucking up to him doesn't work I mean, unless you do it one hundred percent consistently sucking up to him after you have disagreed, one percent of the time doesn't work. But I have seen Trump get involved in State legislature races. Well, he did in Indiana, but I've seen him endorse an attack in Florida I have seen him get involved in city commission races. County commission races in Florida where he's endorsed somebody or not endorsed somebody. and in a Republican primary, it makes a difference. It puts the Republicans in a much tougher position in the general But I think he cares more about about the feather and his cap. I think he cares more about the trophy hanging from his wall than he does about than he does about thinking about the general Paxton loses to Calorico. That's all going to be transfault and that would be a tremendous tremendous impactful senteny to lose in Texas I mean Yeah, but you know, people forget that these Senate seats and these congressional seats and these states weren't always. When I was growing up in Florida, every elected official, every statewide elected official was a Democrat Today, every statewide elected official in Florida is a Republican It shifted. Yeah. When You know, when we were younger The governor of Texas was Anne Richardson a Democrat Fire brand woman The you know, it was represented by people like Lloyd Benson who was, um, you know, who ran for vice president in the democratic tickets. So I think a lot of times we take for granted, o Florida's red you know, Texas is red California is blue and people Don't do the work to make the shifts and change. I mean Texas to me, keeps being the one that got away Because it seems to me like every few years people think Democrats put their hopes on or B yeah And then you at the end of the day, it stays Republican. I am very curious to see what happens because I know that Donald Trump made incredible inroads with the Latino community of the Rio Grande Valley. But they're pissed. They're pissed because they're seeing the discrimination and the racial profiling and the cruelty against their community. And so we'll see we'll see what happens in Texas. I think it's going to now be One of the most first the primaries need to happen. I think John Cornan loses And I think if and when John Cornner loses and Paxton becomes a Republican nominee, it's going to be an incredibly expensive race where Republicans did not expect to have to spend that kind of money Today I want to tell you about our friends at Czy Earth Can you remember the best night of sleep you've ever had? All right, the other thing we've been talking about all week is this one point eight billion dollars slush fund, as you guys have called it, but officially, it's an anti weaponization fund that have been created in order to pay out people that were victimized by the DOJ during the Biden administration. That's how it's been explained Um Now yesterday It became clear that the DOJ has issued an addendum would bar the government from continuing any existing audits of tax returns filed by Donald Trum his family and their companies What is your take on this? It's kind of astounding There is no end to Donald Trump's corruption Every day he just pushes the envelope further whether it's enriching himself through a crypto scheme, whether it's his family monetizing on the presidency whether it's him and his wife selling a documentary to Amazon for a reported, I don't know, thirty, forty million dollars There is no end to the eruption and the grift by this family And this the cynicism of this of naming this fund first which was one point seven seven six so as to be a reference to the year of, you know America's founding, that two hundred let's celebrate the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of America by creating a slush fund to help pay out Donald Trump supporters who raided and attacked the Capitol. on january sixth, amongst others And this this addendum, think about this, my God So where does this originate? This originates because During Trump's first term, it was Trump who was president, not Biden. There was a leak of Donald Trump's tax returns And so he sued the IRS for ten billion dollars And now this settlement is that he withdrew the lawsuit, but instead they had to create this fund I mean, it is it is Really it's like dictator wanabe type of stuff. It's the kind of thing that you see in third worldld dictatorships And it is, again, why we desperately need oversight. It's also unconstitutional. It's only Congress that has the power of the purse The President of the United States, the DOJ, the executive, do not have the power to to appropriate one point eight billion dollars of taxpayer money. Whatever the hell they want of taxpayer money. what I am What I'm astounded at is this is a guy whose approval ratings are down in the basement Swimming with the fishies, like Harry Anton the pollster on CNN says. And at a time when we are Six months away from a primary election The people are incredibly pissed off at this war When there is such little consumer confidence, when people can't pay for health carere, they can't pay for groceries, they can't pay for gas, they have to cancel vacations with their kids. They have to you know, when people are having such a hard time making ends meet when farmers are going bankrupt all over this country He just doesn't care It's like Let me do this one more thing to show you how little I care about you and how much I care about me It's like He I thought he does not care, which is why he's working so hard. to rig the elections by changing the congressional maps and giving Republicans more votes I think there's going to be a backlash. I think that even with the change in the congressional maps People are going to be so pissed off and so desperate for checks and balances that they're going to come out of every nook and cranny to vote against Republicans We had an interesting conversation yesterday about Mark Cubin. Um You're a friend of our Cubans' I like him very much He was with the president yesterday at the White House to discuss their partnership to expand drug coverage RX U panel was very U split on this because Joy said If you lie down with dogs, you're going to wake up with fleas Other people wanted to give credit for lowering prescription drug prices, which is an important thing There was definitely a back and forth about whether Trump could be trusted in in this smallbage What do you make of all this? Well, part of the reason that they have to work on lowering drug prices is because they have decapitated Obamacare And so many Americans can now not afford health carere If we could afford health insurance, We could pay for the drugs. But there are millions and millions of Americans who've had to drop health insurance because they can't pay for the skyrocket premiums and because they're now getting no help from the government No subsidies. He got they got rid of they, you know, they have massacred Obamacare As far as Mark Cuban look, I don't think Mark Cuban is lying down with dogs. I don't think he's I think he's doing this one thing. I don't think you're going to see Mark Cuban turn into Jeff Bezos or Tim Cook or Bill Gates or the guy from Nvidia or the guy from you know, no, I don't think or Mark Zuckerberg. I don't think you're going to be seeing Mark Cuban at every state dinner and traveling with Trump on Air Force one and buying his documentaries and you know doing the things that we have seen these other incredibly duplicitous sellout tech moguls do. I think this is issue and a cause that has been important to Mark Cuban for decades. And I think what he is saying is this cost is so important to me that despite the fact I think Donald Trump is a despicable human being I campaigned against him. I think he should not be president. I am going to go and do this one good thing with him Um, and you begrud him for that? I mean, do you think that like I guess that's the question because there has been if an see corruption and things like that. I'll tell you where I will be pissed at Mark is if if I see a one hundred eighty from Mark we have seen from Tim Cook If I say if Mark keeps doing things. if this isn't just a one off for this one issue and this one cause that he has been working on for decades. If all of a sudden, I am wrong And I see Mark at a state dinner. Tasting with Trump or I see Mark on Air Force one Then yeah, I'm going to call him out. I'm going to call him on the phone and I'm going to cuss him out But if what it is is this one issue which is incredibly important to Americans Because so many Americans are having to cut pills in half in order to make ends meet because so many people are going without food. you know, having to spend less on food so that they can buy their medication then you know, this is an important one I do it I don't know. I was asking myself that like let's say miraculously said, okay, I'm going to I'm going to do immigration reform and I'm going to do I'm going to give dreamers an amnesty and a path to citizenship. And comeome on stage and announce it with me Anna Navarro. right I might bombit the entire way there But I'm not sure that if I thought it was something of that nature Now, that being said, If I did that, the moment I left I would go back to saying you know That the cruelty and inhumanity of the Trump administration. You probably say I were there. Yeah, I would probably say when I was there Youo there. 'is I, Queen Mortuana of the Night Realm, AKA Kate McKinnon. And her raaven minion Jojo, AKA Emily Lynn. If you do not download and binge my show, heads will roll air apparent un audible, I will cut off your head. Oh no. Maybe just tell them about the guest stars like Richard Kind, Cerry Coon, Jimmy Fallon at all. They were in it. Listen now exclusively on Audible and Dun of the Audibleu today are off with your head. I'm kidding All right. According to a newly unsealed court docket, the Justice Department has just charged former Cuban President Raouul Castro. It wasn'turer It has been unsealed. Okay. He's been charged with murder over his alleged role in the shooting of two planes that were carrying humanitarian aid in nineteen ninety six The shooting resulted in the deaths of three Americans For those who may not know, explain who Ral Castro is and. Why you think this is happening now? H This has been a long time coming. Raouul Castro is no choir boy. Raouul Castro is an evil man who together with his brother, Fidel Castro, the country of Cuba under a Bloodthirsty dictatorship for sixty seven years. Raul Castro is the younger brother of Fidel Castro U And when Fadel Castro died ten years ago in twenty sixteen, Rl Castro is the symbolic air. and titular head of the revolution But he's also in charge of like all of the businesses run by the Cuban government. and they have a piece of every industry They have the majority of every. They control every industry, but more than that. He was the secretary of defefense. So he was in charge of all of the armed forces In that role in nineteen ninety six, in nineteen ninety six, let me put this in context. There was a rafterfter crisis Fidel Castro said open up the gates. Anybody who wants to leave Cuba can. And Cubans took to the Florida Strait on anything that could float. So there were Cubans dying, risking their lives. It was a very difficult situation. There were these little there was an organization formed in Miami by Cuban American pilots named brothers to the rescue, Eermanorecate And they would go in little tiny sessas. These were two person for person cessas and patrol the Florida Strait seeee, you know, look, look and see, monitor where the rafts are, tellell the Coast Guard And a couple of times they went into Cuba and they released pamphlets over Havana U saying, you know, rise up You know, anti communist pamphlets These two cessA planes from this organization were shot down under an order by Raouul Castro There were recordings intercepted where the pilots were given the order to shoot and they were celebrating. Remember when it's when Madeeline Albright, because it was under Bill Clinton went to the UN to denounce it and because there was that recording of the pilots, the MIG pilots. So the Cubans shot down two little cessna planes with Mig pilots and mG planes. shot them the hell out of the sky. There was nothing left. Three US citizens, as you said, and one legal permanent resident Rouul Castro U, you know, also during the Nodiega, u when the Panamanian strongman Nodiega went under trial. He testified that Raouul Castro as head of the military, that they were Cuba was getting paid millions to let drugs go through Cuba into the United States Listen Castro brothers, the Castro regime, which is still in power in Cuba has killed Dained Pisoned tortured Tens of thousands of Cubans. I have friends who served over twenty years in Cuban jails. I have friends whose fathers were killed in a firing squat Millions of Cubans have fled that island in search for freedom Today, it's Cuban Independence Day. I think that's the reason it's happening today. Also, I think this is one more tool in the arsenal in the toolkit. apply pressure on Cuba. Donald Trump Venezuela with what he's doing in Iran desperately wants another feather on his cap. He wants the feather on his cap of being able to claim that he is the man who brought the Cuban regime to one end the castro regime to an end. It would also be a very happy day for a community that he owes. The Cuban American community has been incredibly Cortive of him more so than any other Latino community is part of the reason why he won Miami Dade. So the question is, okay, now that he's been indicted Is there going to be a military operation to go extricate this decrepit ninety four year old out of Cuba? Well It's definitely reminiscent of what happened with Venezuela, right? I mean, You start to think this is the pat place. The situation in Cuba right now is unsustainable. I have many friends in Miami who have relatives in Cuba people who've come more recently. My husband's generation, the previous generation, the people who came in the sixties in the seventies, they pretty much with the island. you know, their entire families can theseese newer arrivals have family there, you know, and people have no food, no electricity No fuel there's, you know, we've had an embargo against Cuba for decades since the sixties, but right now there's a naval blockade And u And I guess the hope is the hope, I guess or the tactic is trying to put so much pressure on them that they do what dictators usually do, which is pick up and leave and go live off the millions that they have stolen that you thought was going to happen in Venezuela. That's what no. That's what Trump thought was going to happen in Venezuela That's That's what Trump thought after months of pressure on Venezuela was going to happen with Venezuela. It ended up not happening. I don't know that it happens in Cuba because this is a regime. That's been there for sixty seven years And I don't know that Ral Castro at ninety four is going to want to live out his days in wherever Qatar or whatever the hell Turkey, wherever the hell they get they take them. Yeah exile. I do know that while the the Cuban people are starving and living in these, you know, infrahuman conditions. The Castro family and all of his cronies have enrich themselves, have millions and millions of dollars and are not going through any necessity. So I don't know how this, I don't know how this ends. I am sure I am about this indictment. This son of a bitch is a criminal killed U. S. citizens and he deserved to have been indicted not today thirty years ago. as a result of that shootown is when Clinton who was president and didn't want to sign The Helms Burton bill ended up signing it. into law becausecause it was just, you know, it was so egregious. We We basically, you know, saw Uh two small planes being shot out of the sky while flying over international waters Because there were investigations afterwards by international organizations.. And by the U.S. they were over international waters when they were shot down by Cuban Migs. All right, quickly, before we go, I heard you went into a book party last night. I saw photos It was for Jose Andres. Yes Um Tell me about the party and tell me about Jose You know, Jose and I are friends of many, many years. I'm about to do a book event for this book with him in Miami on june fourth But yesterday, he had a book party at his place here in New York, Little Spain, which I love. Spanish food is my favorite thing So I invited a few of of the staffers, the young ons. Yeah, I miss my invite apparently but it's fine., you wouldn't have gone anyway. No, but I like the invitation. I know, but you would I know you wouldn't have gone. And also you're not fun. That's true. Okay. but so I went with Megan Anna, Jacoeri and Sophia who used to work here, who just married a Spanish man in Spain. And they were so much fun Okay, so we started partying like around seeven o'clock. like around nine thirty I got up to go do CNN, which is in the same building as in Hudson Yards. And I left them there Aen The party was going to end like at nine o'clock So I leave CNN. I did the Abbey Phillips Sh from ten to eleven And then I text them just to make sure that they got home all right. And all of a sudden I start receiving pictures of them playing pool with Jose Andres and his daughters in some tavern next to Madison Square Garden and doing
