Ana Navarro: Why The Hell Should The Bidens Stay Quiet? — Jun 11, 2026 — starts at 0:00
All right, it is Thursday, june eleventh. I'm here with the amazing Anna Nvarro and the equally amazing, perhaps even more amazing Chaa. Look at this. She's turned herself around looking at you. It's the first. It's never happened before U All right, let's dive right into switch seats. Exactly She might be confused. She's looking for you All right, so we had a big announcement on the show today. We announced that vice president, JD Vance is going to be on the show next Tuesday. This is the third sitting vice president that we've had on the view the first Republican What do you want to hear from him? I think people are kind of surprised he's coming, actually. So Well, it shouldn't be surprising. He's got a book. Right. And I think that everybody, including Republicans, know that at the View, we are really good at selling books. Yes. I think it's a very relevant time and I want to ask them questions about Epstein, I want to ask him questions where where he where there's there's several issues where there's sunlight between him and Donald Trump, right? The war, going into military action, all of these new wars He seems to me to be a lot more Tuned into the MGa manosphere than Trump is actually. I think that' try. And really works those relationships far more than practically anybody else in the White House So I don't know, I just, you know I hope we get to have a constructive conversation about the issues that Americans care about and are on Americans' minds and that it doesn't turn into some free for all for the sake of creating a moment for him so that he can go out and sell books, which is what often happens with Republicans. I mean, there's obviously a lot of issues that you and other hosts of the view and the vice president disagree on, but Let's hear what he has to say about them. Let's hear his arguments for why they're right. and you guys are wrong and back forth. Hopefully, it's passionate debate that's respectful And you know, it's the vice president. it's a big deal. so we're excited to do it Um, Now let's get into some other hot topics because Graham Platner won the Democratic Maine Senate primary this week desespite reports of his troubling past coming to light, and you know Maine is one of several Senate seats that are very important for the Democrats if they want to try to take the Senate bother you that he's having that he won the primary despite all of these accusations against him. Do you think it says something about the Democratic Party? Well, You know, I think that he was going to win the primary was expected. R. There was basically Janet Mills, a former governor who everybody thought was too old and who had been basically who had withdrawn from the race, but her name was still on the ballot, but that, you know, wasn't feasible. So there was nobody else for them to vote for. so he was going to win. And he won withith seventy plus percent of the vote Look, I think he's a pretty disgusting guy. I think the allegations and accusations and that's what they are that have come out against him are beyond troubling. They're reprehensible. and, you know, I think they are disqualifying in many ways. from the Nazi Tat two that he claims he didn't know was a Nazi tat two that he had on his body For eighteen years to the allegations of infidelity and sexting and all of this All of these things I mean, he seems to have gone through a really horrible period. Right. Let's hope that that's what it is a bad period. he alleges that it is because he was coming back from war and he had PTSD and he was drinking and, you know, and it turned them into a toxic man and all of this stuff This is how I feel about it We have talked. and but when I say we, I mean on this show, on CNN, on every network, every media outlet All of these issues with Graam Platner have been aired out It's not like anybody is covering up the fact of all of the accusations and all the allegations against him So the people of Maine are making an informed, educated decision that they have the right to make on whether they want to vote for this guy Who is horrible? or for a woman who is a sane decent person. but votes ninety six percent of the time with the president who is horrible and doing horrible things to America So I think it's a very hard choice, but I think the more we talk about it the more informed the people of Maine are, right? Like you can't be in Maine, and I'm sure there's going to be There's going to be tons and tons of ads. about his character or lack thereof. So you just have to, you know Acknowledge the fact that these people are going to make their decision. It is not for me to make, it is not for you to make in the same way that the Christians u Bible clutching Christians held their nose knowing exactly and voted for Trump knowing exactly who he was. They voted for Trump after hearing the Axcess Hollywood tape. So they made an educated choice because to me that's different Then when you vote for somebody and don't know any of the stuff and then it comes out after their prize after theight. The people who voted for Trump The evangelical Christians, all you know, the Catholics, the moral right, all of those people who voted for Trump knew exactly who he was when they voted for him peopleople who are voting for Graham Platner know exactly what they are voting for and they are making a choice. Now deevil's advocate here. the It's been a conversation at our table about complicity And if you voted for Donald Trump, knowing these things There was an argument from some at the table. and I think you might have felt this way at some points that you're now implicit for the things that happen or the things he believes in. Do you believe that's the same thing M word it's not complicit, but you're looking It might have been more of You're looking the other way. Okay. You're looking the other way and rationalizing it by saying I have other priorities. I have a lot of Republican friends who said they found Trump to be abhorrent and abominable, but voted for him because they wanted a conservative Supreme Court. Sure. A lot of people did it over pro life much they got Yeah And so I think there's a lot of people who are going to vote for Grand Platner because they want to get rid of Susan Collins, who when she first ran said she would only run you only be there for two terms. She's now been there for thirty years And who votes ninety plus percent of the time? I think the statistic I saw was ninety five or ninety six percent of the time Donald Trump And so Now I'll also say this Democrats have proved to be quite effective, maybe overzealous even at getting rid In Congress who do horrible things while they're in Congress, right? Whether it's Al Frankin, who if you look at the stuff he was accused of these days, it feels like tame in comparison to everything else that we have learned since. people like Eric Swalwell. Right?? The woman from Florida who also got thrown out recently and for her, it was financial malfeasance. So Democrats get rid of their own Let's remember that like the Republican speaker looked the other way for months on Tony Gonzalez, theongress the Republican congressman from Texas who had allegedly had an affair with his district director and Mike Johnson, Bible clutching, Mike Johnson let him stay there until the swallwell issue developed and then okay, they can both leave and the math mats, right? Because then I'm not going to lose a vote it washes out. Democrats have been pretty ruthless on their own when it comes to throwing them out because of stuff that happens. But this is not up to Democrats This is up to the voters domain I mean, Democrats can say all they want, this guy should drop out And I don't know if if you've seen this guy's speeches, if you've seen this guy, I don't think this guy gives a damn what Democrat elites or, you know, this is not swallell I don't think he cares. And also I will tell you, I have seen elected Democrats, peopleople like Coreory Booker, the Senator from New Jersey Also a congressman from Massachusetts whose name now escapes me Ashhing cllause or something like that. I have seen elected Democrats on TV publicly say they are troubled. they have questions. You know, this congressman from Massachusetts said he wouldn't be voting for him if he was in Maine. And I've never I have not seen an elected Republican short of The ones that got beaten by Trump in primaries like like Cassidy or cororin say the same thing That's right. Who is a disgusting human being So U you know, it's just cherry picking your moral high ground And, um, you know And is there a place for anyone to have a moral high ground these days? That's the question. Yeah. But if you know, if the people of Maine who are the ones who are ultimately going to make the choice are saying, look We know this guy is a is a heal We know this guy is reprehensible. We know this guy has done immoral things. We know this guy is ethically challenged. We are really troubled by all of these allegations. We know this guy wore a Nazi tattoo eighteen years, which he denies that he knew to. Yeah. Okay, But then the people of Maine say, we know all of that, but you know what We want to get We want checks and balances and accountability on Donald Trump who's going to be around for the next two years and Susan Collins is incapable providing that Wh the hell am I to tell the people of Maine No, you're wrong. I mean I'm glad I don't have to make that choice. I think if I was in Maine, I'd probably write somebody in. I mean curious I was going to ask what you would do. Yeah. I've done that before.'ve written I've written You've talked about people Forid of people were very conflicted about. Yeah. ye. R. I mean, yeah, there was there have been Florida elections where, you know, I write people in U because I find both of them to be A point. Yeah All right. so Hunter Biden is back in the spotlight after he went on social media responding to Republican critics with self deprecating humor He talked about some of his own trouble p. That's hilarious. He's very good at Twitter. hisis clapbacks are kind of epic. I'm really rather enjoying it. you know, I barely do Twitter these days. Right which I know makes you happy. veryer happy. I barely go on Twitter. I don't even know what's going on there. But these hunter clap bags have got me going back just for that because they are terribly sarcastic, witty, dry humor. I mean, effective. They're just hilarious. And you know, a lot of people, some people are saying he should be quiet and stay out of the spotlight I've read some reports that he wanted to do this during the campaign and during his own public troubles the White House did not want him to do this. in retrospect, maybe it would have been effective. I don't know, but what do you think? Should he stay quiet or should he let let Hunter be h? Why the hell should he stay quiet? Right now he is just an American citizen like the rest of us. There's a bunch of people whose last names aren't Biden that are blowing off on you know going off on Twitter a hundred times a day And nobody says a damn thing. You don't want to listen to him. You know you find whatver you find him irritating, then don't follow him and dont don't go and look at his Twitter feed But, you know, I've been looking at this in u At the same time that I was reading the Jill Biden book. Yeah, who you just sat down with her in Miami. Oh God, this weekend, I tell you, I thought this weekend has still got me I'm still tired from this weekend. Me too. But Yeahes, so I'll do the weekend and then I'll talk about Joe Biden. So I flew out of New York on Thursday. Landed in the middle of what can only be called a monsoon in Miami. Couldn't even believe the plane landed. I thought you said cannoli first. You said can only be called a monsoon. It sound be land cannoli. was. I haven't had lunch. Almost. yeah. Okay The then went in a car directly to an event, I was moderating a book event with Jose Andress, which was supposed to be an hour and went two hours. Yes with wine and tapas. He's moving up on the Anna celebrity friendriend list, by the way. I feel like He's getting more mentions than theest toine. I've always I always see him. likeike I've always seen him many, many times a year. I'm just saying I think if we're doing the power rankings of Anna' celebrity friends, it's Ava's a top. But I don't think he's Anthony. See I don't find I don't find Jose to be a celebrity. I don't think he's a I mean, I just I don't know. I To me, you know, I don't know that he would consider himself a celebrity. I think he considers him himself a chef, a cook who, you know, s for the few so that he can feed the many Uh, and he's just, um You know, listen, you can you can walk around an airport. You can be eating at a restaurant with Jose with nobody bu not knowing who he is You can't do that We Mark Anthon. No, or b But so anyways, did the event with Jose Then we went to dinner some, you know, a friend of mine held up a restaurant open we got there like at ten PM. and left at twelve forty five AM Then I had to moderate the Joill Biden event Let me go back to the Hunter thing So she was and it was a wonderful event. It was sold out. I think there's, you know, there's all of this talk of people being annoyed that she's relitigating the campaign and all of that Um So I looked it up. there's been like twenty. A att least twenty books written about the Biden administration and the twenty twenty four campaign. Jake Tapper has written a book. Camala Harr has written a book Korean John Pier has written a book. S somebody named Whpple has written a book. I mean, there's twenty plus books And so U, why shouldn't the woman who was actually in it sleeping with the guy who was running and married to the guy who was running not write her version. To me, that's ridiculous. But she also, you know, and people are focusing on the whole debate thing and the fact that in the book she writes that she thought Jo was having a stroke But at the moment of the debate, she went and said, you know, didn't he do great what the hell she supposed to do as a wife? know, I don't think as a wife as a candidate who just blew it in the debate, you can go in front on a stage in front of supporters and say, God, didn't Joe just bomb today? I mean, to be fair, my wife probably would. but most wives would not do that. I agree. Okay As she said, that's just one chapter in the book. Yeah. She's got chapters about which I found to be incredibly poignant and I hope help people. And by the way, Jill Biden's book is an instant number one New York Times bestseller. But she's got power chapters about dealing with her son's addiction Um chapters where and I think we have forgotten just what the Bidens were going through time of this was happening. while this was happening the pain when you hear her describe sitting at Hunter's trial in Delaware, day after day. And Brian, she would go and sit at the trial with her aide, Anthony Bernell and other members of the family And then she would jump on a plane and go to Washington and host the congressional picnic. She during the trial She went twice France. She went twice to Europe because it was right around this time and it was the celebration, one of the big anniversaries of D day. So this woman is sitting on a trial all day jumping into a plane, flying to France at first doing her first lady duties of the celebration of D dayay, gettinget showering at Charles de Gaulle, showering at the airporting, blow drying her own hair at the airport, going and doing that doing the events, jumping back on a plane, coming back to Delaware, sitting there waiting for her her, you know, the jury to come back for her ultimately, they convicted her son. And in the meantime, Joe Biden is in the White House. He too has flown back and forth to Europe twice. This was just days before the the debate And I can just imagine the vicarious pain and worry of Joe Biden and guilt. because he always thought that this wouldn't have happened to Hunter had he not that he Hunter would not have been prosecuted had he not been president And he's not able to be sitting in the courtroom But he's, you know, he's following it. I mean, it's And I have to tell you because I have lived this in my life, in my family And I have so many friends who live this There are so many parents in America who may not be president and first lady. who may be, you know, teachers and lawyers and doctors and nurses and policemen who are dealing with the same things ain the all consuming attention and distress and worry of having to deal with your child addicted to drugs at the same time that you gott to show up You got to put one foot in front of the other and you got to perform. at your job. You know, I've told you before My husband's eldest daughter from his first marriage died of drug addiction. And he has told me so many times of what it was like staying up all night. thinking that he'd get a call that she was in jail or that, you know, she died. He has told me what it was like to have to drive Palm Beach on Saturdays to go visit his daughter in jail, what you know, getting that call telling him that she was in the hospital where she, you know, ultimately died of aneurysm as a result of them of the secondary effects So I think there's part of Jill's memoir should focus on because it's going to help other parents going through the same thing. I think her chapter on missing Joe Biden's and how the doctors miss Joe Biden's prostate cancer I think it's a lesson to us all to be proactive about our own health. Absolutely. He was getting up seven times at night How the hell Did they not advocate for, you know, give him the PSA exam, run run a scan on him. What is going on? So I think there's a bunch of parts of the book that are very, very relevant to average Americans who read it and that will give them a lot of lessons. Absolutely. He's a disaster. I don't know what to do with this man anymore. I really don't know what to do with him. This is like weekly, we have the same back and forth and argument. So Lee who is brilliant. He's a very smart guy. He's accomplished. He is like, you know, He's like He's like the head of corporate national communications for a big major company And he believes everything he sees on Instagram. He takes it as the Bible. He thinks, I mean, he sees AI things and he reposts them and he thinks they're true And so We were supposed to go to Spain for the Bad Bunny concert. and I were going for the january sixth concert when I which was the day that I moderated the Joill Biden event. This is the one you invited Loki to No, that was actually june twenty eighth, which I might still go. I' still thinking about it. That was it This is the one in London But u So We ended up not going. And so he says to me he sends me a text and he says You do know that last night was a night we were supposed to go to a bad bunny in Madrid and the Pope was in the casita I said Uh, no. No, the pope was not in the casita. It's AI Lee, you believe every Freaking thing you see an IG And he says to me, Do you know how many people told me that I'm missing the pope On Saturday, are you one hundred percent sure he wasn't there? Oh my God, I believe everything Well, he was definitely in Madrid at that time So yes, I was taking for a fool yet again. again. This happens every week, every week. I feel like if the pope were at a Bad Bunny concert, it would be national news everywhere. I think we'd be leaving. We know the ironic thing though.. The Pope and Bad Bunny ended up meeting in Madrid And there's no photos of it. There's no pictures of it. They had a private meeting. The Pope was doing a massive event, massive mass at Barnabo, which is the Soccer stadium in Madrid, it's ginormous And he had a private meeting with Bad Bunny and I'm thinking to myself, well, wait a minute You got an entire album called I should have Taken M moreore Pictures and we can't get one picture off you and the pope. I respected it. It wasn't about. But you know, and I love the fact that they got together because I think You know, first of all, Bad Bunny does a lot of good things through his foundation. He's you know, he is a good, good, decent guy who cares tremendously about his community, his people and the youth and, you know,'s constantly trying to help. And so I think the pope Meeting with somebody who's got such aeal with the youth. Yeah, absolutely. it's a good thing. Absolutely. Before we go, you said you had a documentary you wanted to mention. Oh, my God, was this good Yesterday, I went to a Tribecca screening. of a documentary about Martina Lvratolova and Chrisie Et I don't even know what it's called aybe it's called Martina Chrie, maybe it's called Nevatolova and ever. I don't know. It's coming out on Netflix june twenty sixth And you know, I grew up watching them. Sure. I mean, you know, Martina who lives in Miami is a friend of mine now. but you know, for decades, she was a legend to me and an idol. and I would go watch them at the Lipton tournament I remember when they were in a final. it must have been like eighty five or something. was in, um, in high school, u And so it's It's such a complex and wonderful documentary about these two you know, top athletes focused on their game but also a very complicated friendship because they were friends and they were adversaries. And Chrissy was number one, when Martina was coming up, Martina was two years younger. And then Martina became number one, and Chrissy was so solely focused on beating her And so it's the story about a female friendship in you know in this high profile role as the number one athletes, one and two athletes tennis for decades, they met something like eighty times against each other. Think about the insanity of that. They each won eighteen grand slams. and then Now, in their older years, they both got cancer and we're going through cancer same time. And there were times when they were very close friends and there were times when they weren't friendly at all. This reminds me of one of my favorite documentaries, very similar premise. It's called It's about Larry Byird and Magic Johnson It's called cour courtship of rivals and how they, again, the very best at what they did, very different people, Black and white, Indiana Fm kid in L.A, showhowime Lakers. and they also had like almost a secret friendship right based on because I think at that level, there's only so many people that can understand do I mean, these are elite people and competitors in a way that So they that so during the documentary at the start of the documentary, they they have like snippets of what they think are like these epic U rivalry Yeah Let's see how many you can guess Give me an epic rivalry. Oh gosh Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. That was it. That's when they come up. Okay Basketball, you already mentioned Bird and magic. boxing Oh boxing. Well, Ollie Frasier. Yeah. Yeah. you're good at this. Well, this is this is stuff I care about. And so this this and then, you know, and then they had Martina and Christy E. like you say, they couldn't have been more different. One is, you know, one was like you're your girl next door golden child from, you know, feminine wearing little frilly ruffled bloomers from Golden Girl from Florida, Martina, you know, from Czechoslovakia, defected from that communist regime came out as lesbian, actually, she didn't come out. It was written before she could actually. She was outed. She was outed. And so just the incredible difference, but's driven
