As administration officials make their case, Pople that hurt police get money all the time. Will more Republicans get on board with Trump's claim that the people who storm the Capitol are the real victims Plus how graduating students are rebelling against moguls trying to sell the future of AI in the workplace. AI is rewriting production as we sit here I know it. deal with it. Like I said, it's a tool But will the next generations need to make room for working alongside AI employees? Then do something about it, okay? It's a tool. Make it work for you. Then, Lake Kith Stanfield talks about being in the all star cast of the wild movie, I Love Boosters, and his music with Kid Kety Here come hop topopics with Whooping. Sarah Hainnes, Joy Bhar, Anna Navarro, Sonny Hustin, and Alysseta Barry Griffin. Now let's get things started L like Obama there.. Ls like as the president I saw you out of the corner of my eye. I thought, no I just have to say. so welcome to the view, y'all. Wlcome to the view He can sing let's stay together. Well, we'll do that. We'll come back and do that. But this we gott to do because this is extraordinary and I'm thrilled that it's happened Some DC police officers like Daniel Hodges are suing the Justice Department over the one point seven. billion dollar payout fine that january sixth rioters are already lining up to collect. Here's what Officer Hodges had to say yesterday. Take a look. These people, they should not be rewarded by the government for their attempt to overthrow the government. They tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power. They wanted to assassinate the vice president They assaulted me and my colleagues. They instilled fear and terror in members of Congress the staff, congressional staff There There's no reason that the government should be giving these people money And so many of them pled guilty in a court of law and they had very fair trials. I was there Now some Republicans are uncomfortable with the settlement. But administration officials and you know who Yeah they's still trying to cllle ther seell y'all on this insanity. takeake a look The Biden administration was horrible in terms of what they've done to people. It was the most violent I've ever seen in politics. Would you be okay with people who were convicted of hurting police getting taxpayer money? Just to be clear, people that hurt police get money all the time. It sends a signal goo breaks to the Capitol, destroy the building, assault police officers. you may even get compensated for someomeday. That's absurd. What are you making this one point seven billion dollars fund for We're gonna try to kill it. You're gonna try and kill it? Yeah We're try to unpack exactly, you know what the legal machinations are, can't do that Sou I just wanted give you this information. Seven people, let's not forget. seeven people died in relation to january sixth, three of them were police officers. Approximately one hundred and forty police officers were injured Officers suffered traumatic brain injuries, lacerations, crushed, spinal discs, and were repeatedly exposed to chemical sprays.emember people got spray with that bear spray. And now some have post traumatic stress disorder. And this is the part I want you to really absorb In addition, the attack cost U. S the US two point seven billion in taxpayer funds to address things like the millions and damages to the capitol security needs, investigations, and now They are asking us to pay back the very people who cost us that money to begin with A do you think more Republicans are going to speak out against this insanity? No. You don't Re they're not. Why would they? They still They're right in his orbit. They only want to please dear leader. This guy, the former proud boys leader, Enrique Torres who directed the proud boys to assault the government He's received a twenty two year sentence for sedituious conspiracy and he expects to get between two and five million dollars in compensation. What about the Manson family? Why don't we give them money? I mean, there are so many criminals who deserve to get paid. Well into terms that I would hope that folks on the right would understand is I remember in twenty twenty Republicans were big mad that Kamala Harris tweeted out that people should give money to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which essentially offered cash bail for people who participated in the Black Lives Matter protests. People were saying that's bailing out people who destroyed property, wh may have assaulted police officers. There was was was very very limited destruction of of. It was a very significant rallying call on the right. And I do think it hurt Kamala Harris's chances in twenty twenty in that election. She ultimately dropped out This is that on steroids. We saw with our own eyes what happened at the Capitol. We know that people were not just charged. They were convicted of assaulting police officers. They've since had their sentences commuted or been parted by the president, but now they're going to get financial compensation. Like make that makes sense to me. We have to try to be a little more consistent, but I actually do think this is going to be blocked, I think, either by the courts or by Congress. A number of House members, Brian Fitzpatrick, who we showed, he's a Republican who serves in a district that Kal La Harris won and that Joe Biden won. This is somebody who has a tough re election ahead and he has an incentive to try to stop the craziest ideas that are going through Washington. I just think we need to make it clear that there can be no comparison between The Black Lives Matter movement in what we saw on january sixth. I just want to make that clear. And that's not the suggestion. your suggest, but you know people that watch our show take away different things. So I just want to make that part clear. were very limited destruction of property and violence d during the uprising, the Black Lrising to the pres. And no threats to the president. to the president. Public disag granted property damage. we don't need to revicate six years ago. But the other thing I will say is that in terms of the january sixth insurrectionist and rioters, it was one hundred percent conviction rate None of the appeals were successful. and so those were adjudicated properly. And what is interesting to me can you explain adjudication, please? Adjudication means went sometimes it went through all the court system and none of the appeals were successful. So they were found guilty, they were put in prison, their appeals were unsuccessful, and the system worked. because a lot of people are saying, well, they were wrongfully convicted, including the president. And that's just not true. The other thing that I will say about this is what is interesting is that President Trump sued the IRS through his own Justice deepartment, and the head of the Justice Department at this point was his former personal attorney. the federal judge in Florida, which is a district that is You know, his place his district It's ad It's a red district. That federal judge issued an order in the in that case against the IRS saying, you know what? in federal court, you have to have opposition. You have to have opposing parties. and I don't see that here. So she ordered issued an order saying that on may twentieth, she wanted everybody to brief her write down what the legal arguments were, as she was going to hold a hearing on may twenty seventh because I suspect she was going to throw out that case. That was a winnnerable case. Yeah. You know what the attorney general did, actcting attorney general? They settled the case. before it even got adjudicated in court, and then The settlement included this fund. So this is corruption people at the highest level I into this fun Mike Lindell, my pillo guy complains that he's lost millions and hundreds of millions of dollars. And I'm like, did anyone sit that guy down and said, you made some choices. You made choices and that has consequences with consumers. The government didn't weaponize anything. You didn't use your head, and it came back to bite you in the butt. Like that's what happened to Mike Lindell. But again Republicans have never been big on any form of reparations, like payment back on anything. That's all I can see when I see this fun I'm not a big reparations person There are reparations. The only people that should be in that line are bllack Americans, ative Americ. That's the only thing that tracks in my mind. If you're talking about people who have been wrong, let's look at the laws in the books. One more. One more. And the Japanese. And the Japanese who were interred on their own count. How about? Not Mike Windell. Okay. not my. anymore more than. those those are those are the and they came because when we had this conversation before, I started remembering, you know when you People invited you to come and said, Hey, you came here, we're going to take care of you, and you took the land You know, just said, listen, I've coming here for a better life and killed a lot of people. And I'm here for a better life and I've You've done all this great stuff in this country and you're concerned that because you think I'm something, I look like someone, you're gonna take everything I have and take it away. And that's what happened to the Japanese Yeah. So there are people who deserve to get a little something so. Truth and reconciliation. and reconciliation. Lind. you ' the p. And I think kudos to Harry Dunn and kudos to the other officer that was speaking. You know, that officer that we just showed a clip of was in the door He was the one that was in the door that was smashed and hit. And it takes great courage. I think we've all gotten to know offfficer Dunn, he texted me yesterday And I said, yes, thank you for your courage. And he sort of gave me that emoji on my phone. And I think it takes tremendous courage after experiencing what they did to stand up yet again for this country, yet again for Americans to say that this is wrong. either you stand with police officers or you don't. don't get a selective party backing the blue. What happened to the law and orderw order about You can never be called the laaw and orrder party ever again. No that's no.. And the idea That they talk that that, you know, who talks about this like there wasn't a threat to his vice president. Yes. They say history glosses over that lately. I care. People need to check on my p. I mean, it's no why' never many. There's too many things worry about. Yeah. It's all of the stuff to worry about, but you know what you will have your say in November, you will make your decision in November Regardless of what they're telling you You can vote whatever your party is. you will find the way because nobody, too many people died in this country to be backing up and saying, o, no, we're not going to vote. And students are letting commencement speakers no, they are really not happy about it Take a look AI is rewriting production as we sit here. I know it. deal with it. Like I said, it's a tool Hey, like I said, you can hear me now or you can pay me later. Everyone who is standing, here's what's happening. We're using a new AI system As our reader So that is a lesson learned for us Yeah because the AI was reading the students' names. Incorrect. And you can and you can you could opt out But a lot of students wouldn't let the AI do it. I think people really think Young people are all about AI. I'm starting to believe they're really not digging it because they're seeing the applications that we're seeing You know, they're using it to put these ridiculous things up of, you know, who, you know, stomping around him is Jesus, whatever. I mean, there's all these and they're seeing friends. you know, a lot of the kids have seen what AI has done to their friends when Guys decide they're going to you use somebody's body and do all kinds of st So I think young people are not digging it. I think it's a hugely animating issue with young voters. And feel I feel for this generation that basically is told, you have to get a college degree. It's probably going to put you into debt for the next ten to twenty years. And by the way, there are not going to be jobs available. You have commencement speakers basically saying you're going to be written out by AI Like that's so scary to tell a young person, a more nuanced take would be AI is here to stay, learn how to use it, but teach them why they are irreplaceable. There are certain things AI cannot do. It cannot convey empathy. It cannot make judgment calls the way that a human mind can. It cannot replicate creativity. It's getting close. That's the second the Pident can replicate the president? Maybe. There are intangibles that we still teach young people and we need to tell them that they need to lean into those what the leaders of this country plan to do when eighty percent of the world is out of work. I mean, there is no, I don't hear like anything anything about universal income, they need in conversation Jap they're using policy and public funding to encourage companies to use AI to compment human work, which is nice. And in the Nordic countriryes always ahead of the game, Scandinavia, the workers often have a formal role in deciding how AI will be deployed. They're actually doing something in these advanced countries.. Here I don't hear All I hear is destruction in this country. I don't hear anything that sounds like they're building us up That's because part of it It is about the destruction. It's about the overtaking of that company so I can eat that and take and I can be the best That's what we're doing. It's the billionaire. R. It's the billionaire class. Yeah. sort of quickly going in that direction, this direction of oligarchies. But I will say, You know, we had Bill Gates on the show and I asked him, I think on air or off air whether or not AI was here to stay. And he said, absolutely, you either get with it or you're going to be left behind. And so I think to your point, Alyssa, you know, I think Gen Z should probably embrace AI, but with structure. they have to have career survival. They'll be able to use it, I think to manage their careers. They'll be able to use it to perhaps When used properly, you can enhance skills. I don't think it's going to ever replace them, but they are going to have to learn how to live aom workorforce is going to transform, but I think a lot of the booing you're hearing is this is not a generation that needs to be told that. They're the ones using it. They've grown up on it. What they need is a day where you pump their sils and their souls full of why they are special and why there are things that will never replace them in regard to not only like their empathy, but their emotion intelligence work. We still need people that know how to critically think And those people need one day where we cheer them on because they're heading into a lot of other struggles. And they don't need to be told over and over in an inspirational speech. By the way, you don't matter, but in gener. Th those were liberal arts majors. They weren't engineering majors. They were like studying philosophy.. The worst thing to tell a kid that they got a degree philosophy is a philosophy major. It never did. That's true. That bottom l Yes, it may be here to stay, but you don't have to let it take over your life. No. It doesn't have. So stop checking, you know, you go to the doctor, listen to what the doctor tells you. don't double check and see with your check If you are MD Y doctor. Yes. There are you know, there are real things you can do And you have to pay attention to the real things, things that you should check and things you shouldn't check. You should never double check on your doctor. I'm sorry. N with notot with something that's automated and couldn't tell you what a backachche felt like If you have never had a backache, I'm not asking you. We'll be right back. You know, we've been talking about young people in the workplace on a resurfaced rant What does that mean resurfaced? It was a while ag was was viral right now Oh, I see back. backres.ee, so I don't even know if I care about it, but I'll read it for you. Because he ord we shouldn have done it when he did. That it's back. resurface. It's hererpes Is that the little bug that you drive the hike ye right. It's a resurface rant from Shark Tanks Kevin O'Leary Well, K all says who wants it And it's not going over well. Check it out You go to work, you spend fifteen bucks on a sandwich. What are you an idiot? It cost you ninety nine cents to make a sandwich at home and bring it with you. So what if you bring it with you? Bring your own water if you have to or your own drink or bring your own coffee mu You start to add that up every day, It's a ton of money Most people, particularly working in metropolitan cities that are just starting out on their job making their first sixty thousand Piss away about fifteen thousand a year on stupid stuff And that's what they should stop doing So I don't know what kind of stupid stuff you're talking about, but you know, maybe people like what's wrong with people liking their stuff? They know what they make They know how to budge bud. It doesn't cost ninety nine cents to make lunch It costs like ten dollars to buy eggs, so that's He's so out of touch because let's face it, he sold in nineteen ninety nine, he sold his software product to Mattel for four point two billion dollars. So I don't want to hear him telling me about the cost of living or's his point that if you just leave out the cafe lattes, you will become a billionaire Yeah I out touch. Okay, he's not totally wrong on his face if you just listen to the words. I when I was making like thirty five thousand a year working on Capitol Hill, I always packedunch, I always brought my coffee or my water. I couldn't afford to do differently. Yeah. But to say that that's the reason young people aren't getting ahead is so f And it ignores the macroeconomic headwinds that they're facing. Right now, your dollar, a dollar went three times further in nineteen eighty than it does today The cost of tuition for a state school was roughly eight hundred dollars in nineteen eighty. Now it's between ten and twenty five thousand dollars.. Rising health care costs, childcare costs, alough wages are stagnant. That's why young people can't get ahead,ot to fifteen dollars fif sa. They're che his tax fair tax. I don't. Who knows? He's Canadian, Wh knows. I don't think he's paying his fair share of taxes.use none of them know. That's part of the problem. It's ridiculous. It comes off as tone deaf because again, like what you said, Alyissa, I remember the days where I packed my lunches and did those things because I was making so little in New York City. It didn't change my wealth on big numbers, but it was for my frugal self. It did save. But he is, it's without addressing all those massive problems they're up against, it does look very like dismissive flip say flipping And you know, maybe people know what they have Maybe they're budgeting for their money They know they can't afford the fifteen dollar Latte. they're going to get the four dollar Latte. They're going to budget for what peopleople budget for what they want because you know you have to treat yourself well. regardless of what you're making. You make ten dollars, you take four dollars and make sure you do something for you because it keeps you going. Yeah. you know Now, you know, I know lots of billionaires and most of them came from nothing. So you have an idea Not a whole lot that we are seeing, but wors that thereite a billion people out therestand it. You know, I'm sure Kevin might be one. No, I don't know, you know But I do know we will be back Youo there. 'is I, Queen Mortuana of the Night Realm, AKA Kate McKinnon. And her raven minion Jojo, AK Emily Lynn. I try to catch it. Yeah. Brian probably was like I catch., it's an old story. I don't remember who's been on the show. I mean, I've been here thirty years. talkalk about survivor I love that. And he said, I was on your show. I can't remember Steven Spielberg being on the show either. becausecause I'm in the middle of it, like Steve remembers everything Yeah That happened to me because he's watching it. Yeah. But when you're in it, you don't don remember. Also it's not the same as a personal encounter. People sometimes take that for granted. Now in this long journey W was there a moment when you thought Wow, I've really made it You know, I guess like I tried to develop and maintain a sense of self since the beginning. and I always just told myself like Focus on who you are How you feel about yourself, and you can't really be moved about pressure from the outside So I just tried to keep it insant. Yeah beautif said Now, you're in the new Bots Riley film. I love boosters, and your wonderful co star Kiki here yesterday. We ably adore Kiki. So how much fun was it working with her? How much time were you spending together on set? What was that like? It was great. She's just such a professional and very, very talented. And I remember we worked late nights and there would be times where I was acting directly toward camera. If you couldn't tell, sometimes I was right down the barrel of the camera. So I didn't really need her there for what we call coverage person standing you know near the camera, so you have an eyeeline. I didn't really need her there Every night she would be standing there and one night I was doing it, you know, down to the barrel of the camera and I looked up and she was sleep And I was like, this was just so professional and great. it motivated me to work even harder because I was like just couldn't keep her eyes locked. It' poss. possible. O maybe I was so boring. Well Lky, your character in the film is called Pinky Ring Guy Yeah. And he's very mysterious Until later in the film, I saw the film. We see a lot of you. Yes. I know A particular scene Of all scenes in the movie, we cannot show it Which means you definitely want to go. Let's just say it's not for the kids. Now your wife, Kashmere, is an actor as well. She's your scene partner for this intimate scene. Were you just like, honey, I've got this part for you to play. Wha. When you see the movie you have the context you understand why I needed to have permission to even play it. Yeah. But I was like, you know, I had the idea, well what if it was you, I was opposite against in the movie with that, she's like, okay, well, so then she auditions for the role. Boots likes her. and then she auditions for the production, they like her, so they hire her on. And it was the best scene partner I've ever had. I mean Yeah someone that you know well for that particular st. Absolutely. When you guys see it, tweet and let me know whether or not you think I ate. Yeah, Yes, Yes.. You do So Kid, you're also a musician. You're quite the Renaissance man, aren't you? Yes. Yes. I love mus. And you have this video out now for your song Fast Life with Kid Cuty. Okay. Do you feel like you can tell stories differently through music than you can through acting or else? Yeah. I think my voice can come directly from me in the music where as an actor, I'm interpreting someone else's work often and being a part of an ensemble. withith the music, it's just coming straight from my heart. Do you like that better? know I think it's different. It's all authenticity, but it's just sort of a different lane for it Have you always been a musician? Yeah, actually, I've been doing music since I was eleven Oh wow. I used to sit in my driveway with pots and pans and make little beets and stuff. Oh I bet your neighbors loved you. Oh no. Well, when you're thinking about your career and what's next, is there a philosophy behindes the roles you choose because you seem so deliberate in what you're doing Try to entertain but also make people think, you know, if we can make the world a little bit better, why not? It's a really a hard place right now So if you could put something into the world and make people know make us a little bit better, more closer, need And at the center of this movie actually, the reason why I did it is because, yeah, there's a lot of theatrics, there's a lot of things, there's a lot of eating, there's a lot of a lot. But at the center of it, it's about all of us being together and the importance of change happening from us being together. And I think that's true and important I'm going switch it up a minute and become a little shallow because you are killing it in the fashion game. Okaykay? I always watch you Red carpets, you kill it. has that also been a way for you to express yourself? Yes, fashion is just another form of expression. Be look Oh wow always I always pick you Look at this one. L at this one. You see? ye yeah. So you model as well. Yeah Yeah. sometimes Ill throw some makeup on have fun with it. you know, E since I was little, my aunt used to, you know, she went to church and she had like kind of like a different wig for, you know sort And so I would be in her room playing with her wigs and putting different wigs on in the mirror. and I was always playing dress up since I was little. so it was just natural And that's one of my favorite parts about getting into the characters. If you can't tell, the character from this movie has different hair. I chose it.. I just Yeah, I come in and I'm like, you know, I want to do something funky, do something cool, make a choice. So I love having fun and fashion is just an extension of that. And I'm glad you said that because Oftentimes Dults that away from little kids Be you're making a decision about what you think they're going to be and who they're going to be, which has nothing to do with what they're doing. They're just having a good time Paying. Allow kids to play. allow them to have dress. Absolutely. Don't put your stuff on that. Aol I love that you said that. Well, that's why I love you because I feel kinship with you and that's why I missed you being here because you feel familiar. And actually, you know, my family and a lot of women who are in my family, were my first opportunity for stage. Yeah It's a great thing. Thank you for that Now listen, y'all, hold up. I love boostas in theaters tomorrow. Go see it. It's funny, it'll make you think and you'll enjoy the scene. That. We'll be right back Before we had AT andT business wireless coverage, our delivery GPS wasn't the most reliable Once our driver had to do a fourteen point turn to get back on route, a fourteen point turn. and influenceer even live stream the whole thing
