Big wins at the polls last night for candidates endorsed by New York's Democratic Socialist Mayor Mamdani. Has the White House going on defense against the Democratic Party's left turn? Every one of them, against cops, against ICE, against border patrol, against borders, against jails. But can progressives ride this momentum into the midterms? Then, Colin Ferrell talks about returning to the scene of the crime on the new season of sugar, going back to Gotham for the Batman Part two and his reunion with former co star Tom Cruise , and the founders of Powerhouse Brands are going to work on a special edition of View Your Deal . Here come hot topics with whooping . Sarah Haines , Joy Behar , Anna Navarro , Sunny Hausten , and Alyssa Farra Griffin. Now let's get things started This wasn't gonna wow I have to say So I have to say this outfit is killing me . I have to to say it is fabulous. The purple is fantastic. You are just y'all look marvelous all the time . But this, you know, that whole thing with me and the color purple, I can't help . She was having a flashback. Having a flashback . Speaking of which, it was a big night for the political clout of New York Mayor Zorhan Mandami . All three of his candidates that he endorsed won last day. They won their races. And apparently people at the White House are losing their minds over this. I'm not sure I get why 'cause they're in Washington. We're here in New York. I don't know why they're at. But take a look at the club. We used to have a country where you had a center left Democrat party. Really a center, I would say, a center to center left with many members who were actually cent to write. Then you had a Republican party, right? A conservative party . And over time the Democrat Party has abandoned all of that, and they have instead adopted this radical revolutionary and in many cases violent ide ology that wants to tear America down and destroy everything that we know and love from top to bottom . You looking in a mirror right now . You talking about yourself . I mean, this is crazy. Is last night's election an indic ation that the party needs to shift more left or is this , you know , a victory here and because everyone hasn't voted in the country yet, we don't know what's what's what's think that New York is a bellwether for the whole country. No, but obviously New Yorkers are not watching Fox constantly . And so they and they're not afraid of the term democratic socialism. If I fall down, I want an ambulance. If my house is on fire, bring your hose. You know what I mean? We are looking . I want I'm not scared of the term. I think they're scared of the term in this country, but social security is a democratic socialism partly, unemployment insurance the people who pick up your garbage , the people who take the fire out of your house, all of these things are democratic socialism . And there's a major reaction formation going on right now you. If see we'll see soon, we're talking about it later about Democrat Republican senators on turning Congressman on turning on Trump . And people have had it with this right wing nasty politics that we've had to subject ourselves since this guy got into office. I will respectfully disagree with you. So listen, Mangani does emerge as a kingmaker, but at what expense he just absolutely neutered Hajim Jeffrey and Chuck Schumer, who have the job of trying to win back the House and Senate for Democrats by endorsing candidates against sitting House members. How did he do? Exactly. Because what he's so I'm going to get into it. Just let me let me get into this. So you just talked about these goods and services. You want the police to come. You want the fire department to come. Well, one of your new candidates, Avila Chevalier, who won last night, wants to abolish the police in all prison. She was asked four times, how would you deal with somebody who committed murder then? What is your plan? And she dodged in an answer. She tweeted that Obama is evil, Biden is a rapist and a war criminal in bleep kamala Harris. These were not people running on an affordability agenda. These were left wing extremists that were elected last night at the expense of moderate Democrats. So a seat that you guys do need to win if you want to take back the House. I don't like the way she sounds at all. Well, that's what I'm saying. Well, she's not the party, but she's one person. But that is the point is these candidates that were of course by DSA, the Democratic Socialists were extreme candidates. And I've seen this happen in my party where the extreme right wing takes over and you can't get your party back. I would warn you all this is very dangerous and it could risk you losing the house. Yeah, I disagree with that. I think that New York is the nation's cultural and political capital and that's that's just a fact. And I think the Democratic socialists of America is a force to be reckoned with at this point. I really do believe that. You mentioned these other candidates that won, but you didn't mention Brad Lander who ran on bas ically a democratic socialist platform. He ran on building more affordable housing, protect protecting reproductive rights, the fight to protect and stand up for the LGBTQ plus community, Medicare for all. Who regulates who did he beat? He beat another John Dan Goldman who led impeachment against Donald Trump. Yes, but you took out a sitting progressive liberal who was a liberal hero two years before happening because he believes in Israel's right to exist, he lost perhaps it's time for change, perhaps it's time for change. The Democratic Party for a very long time has been searching for an identity. And I see a great parallel between to your point about the right , I see a great parallel between the rise of the Teak Party in two thousand nine as a rebuttal basically to President Obama's policies and the financial crisis and the Democratic Social ists of America's rise in twenty sixteen, in reaction to Donald Trump, in reaction to healthcare, in reaction to the laws of the world. One thing I would say is I just read a fascinating article this morning. It was talking about how one party is ousting anti Semites and one party is electing them. And I would say that this article raised great points of Cheval , however you say her name. She was a pro Palestine rally prompting Kamas and celebrating that on october eighth of twenty twenty three . These people are not afraid to not they don't only not denounce, they actually espouse these beliefs that Israel does has influenced our world. That's not going to fly in New York City. Well, you know, it is right now Palestinian and No, there were prohibitions on October . October eighth, the only thing that had happened is that Israel had been attacked and people had been brutally murdered and raped. And so at on october eighth, I don't think there needed to be rallies cheering on him calling her an anti Semite. I'm going to call an antisemitic. She would probably call herself that, trust me. Dan Goldman, who we just spoke about, was refused coffee at a coffee shop because they said we don't want money from this individual American human showing up at a coffee shop because they think it comes from APAC in Israel. When we start normal izing these crazy Bradland conspiracies am I? I'm not but just listen to who I'm talking about . He was refused cos metic over someone saying lies . So wait a minute. Wait a minute. So one coffee shop is normalizing it. No, his was vandalized with anti Semitic slurs in New York. Like one thing I would say the right is doing right now is the extreme right and the extreme left are meeting about anti Semitism. They hide under the cloak of criticizing Israel, which some people who criticize Israel are not anti Semites. All anti Semites criticize Israel and use it as cover. As you always say, a racist doesn't say, hey, I'm a racist. They also don't say, Hey, I'm an anti Semite and all of that does not bring down the cost of bread, which is what people are my point here is though that's what that's the mistake the Democrats are making. Affordability and the separation between the have's and have nots, that is fair. All Americans want to be able to afford groceries and health care and have good education and all those things. That is not what these people are running on. These same Democratic Socialists last night were literally chanting your next at Haqim Jeffrey's. They want to take Haakim es out of the house I heard several years ago was everybody kept saying, you know, we people need to replace, we need younger people. So now all the younger people who are not necessarily espousing the way that we want them to espouse , they've gotten in. So it seems to me we have had lunacy at the top. It should not surprise anybody if there's lunacy trickling. We don't know what anybody is trickling. Well, we'll see because you know, everybody said, wait, let's see what they do. I'm gonna say the same thing. Wait, let's see how they act. Let's see what they bring . Let's see if they even win. Everyone has just let just let me finish because anything is possible. As we found out, people who thought were gonna get in didn't get in. They didn't take people over sixty for some reason this time . They let all the older folks go. So let's see who these people turn out to be. I don't know who they say they are. I'm gonna wait like everybody has asked me to do with every candidate that wins. Everybody says, well, let's wait and see what they do first. And then I received a lot of people talking about Mandani and what a terrible mayor he was going to be and what an anti semi he was. And he has proven to be quite the opposite. And he's proven to be a kingmaker, a leader , great for this, gray for this city. Yes. So one thing we know from history is that American voters are the biggest swingers there is. And they will swing back . Yeah, we, you know, I think it's if it's not where New Yorkers want to be or they don't dig what they're hearing, they just, you know, they're just the people who have been nominated . They have not won yet. That's true. So let us let us in New York. Let's Well, let's see what happens let's see what happens. I, you know, as you know, I don't believe in polls and stuff. I wait to see what the people decide. I wait for the people to make that decision. No, there was an election. You know, I decided. And so well no, the election comes in November. That's when we'll know. And then we'll go to town. We'll be right back. Tomorrow on the view, the hot topics table is sizzling with Carry Washington. Then Friday, Adam Lamberg rocks the stage on America's Most Watched Daytime talk show, the view on ABC and stream on Disney plus and Nulu. Welcome back . Yesterday, four Republican senators broke ranks and voted alongside Democrats on a resolution directing you know who to withdraw US troops from Iran. This, yes , yes . This comes at the same time you know who is asking . Every time I see these numbers, I just start cracking up. I don't know why. is He asking for eighty billion dollars more for the war. He wants more eighty billion more for the war . And he was asked about it yesterday . Take a look at his response. Asking for eighty billion more dollars for the Iran war. Do you think Americans support it when so many are financially struggling? Not only do they support it, not only do they support it , they demand it because they won't allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon. You want to see trouble, let them have a nuclear weapon. We're doing very well with Iran. They've been decimated and we're making a deal with them and we'll see how that all goes. You know, how many times can you say, sir , it's not happening the way you say it is? Why happening is different? Why do you need eighty billion dollars if we have a peace deal in the wars? I don't know. I would love that explained to me. I mean , the actual reality is our munitions are so depleted from this conflict, which he was not prepared for. Donald Trump did not know that this was going to wage on for months and months and months. He thought he was going to go and strike and it be over. It's costing us money at the time everywhere. It's costing that kind of money on healthcare, let's say, they call a democratic socialist saying. Yeah Well , one of the Republicans that changed sides was Bill Cassidy, as we recall, who he who President Trump primaried. So this is what revenge looks like when you primarily want to hear . Yeah, but those votes are now crucial because the reason they were able to pass that was four Republicans crossed over. What President Trump didn't think of is he was so busy getting revenge. Yeah, correct. That he didn't think about that guy has nothing else to lose and can vote on whatever bothers me has to have something to lose in order to vote the right way. He also votes means he reasoned arcade, you know. That means he's speckless, you know, as far as I'm concerned. If you can't find your moral compass when it comes to an unconstitution in an illegal war, if you can't find that on your own Yeah , I don't give him credit for that. And what I also am very concerned about is why is Democrat Senator John Fetterman voting against it? Like he's become the new Kristin Cinema, the new Joe Manchin. He's a Democratic name only. I don't know if going on with very important seat to have because it's like when you lost your mansion. I don't know what is going on better than nothing. Well, Pennsylvania, if the Democrats lose Pennsylvania, but if the Democrats want Democrat in Pennsylvania, they'll vote for a Democrat and hope that he doesn't decide I don't know . I don't know them it's going to lose. But I just think it's annoying. But are these Republicans voting this way because they have this moral compass or they know we're not they're worried about the midterms and they're all going to get kicked out and that's a big part of the midterms is that you're going to see more and more votes Susan Collins who's up in Maine for reelection Tom, Tillis who's, ret iring that they're going to be willing to break with Trump. I wish they would have voted their conscience before again, but you're going to see it much harder for the Trump agenda to get through Congress in any real way. And that's really what we want to slow it down because it just like like it a's whirlpool every five minutes. It's like something new, something like no checks and it's because they're not doing their job . And he lies all the time. And we want ed we wanted to slow down. I don't you know, I don't mind the conversation. I mean, I like the idea that people remember that we are a two party state and Democrats can talk to Republicans. People have been doing it for over two hundred fifty years. They've been , you know, connecting, sorry . And it is possible in this idea that there is no way to have a conversation. It just doesn't work for this nation. It may work for other places. It doesn't work for us. And so getting a few more people who can balance it out. Because it drives everyone to the extremes. Yeah, primaries set us up for that. And then, you know, you've got only the extremes represented in this. Yeah. And that's the problem which is why forty five percent of Americans are independ ents because they feel left out by both of the people. I think it's up to forty seven percent. No . Well, I joined last week . But what we do have to do is remind people not to forget to vote. Your vote counts, whether they tell you you've been gerrymandered, is that whether they tell you you've been gerrymandered , doesn't mean you can't vote for the candidate you want. Whatever party you're in, there are intelligent Democrats out there. There are intelligent Republicans out there. Don't let anyone tell you that your vote is not going to count because they've done something. Get out there and vote. We'll be right back . , welcome back. A new book called Prime Time , a new Vision for Midlife wants to change the idea that hitting Midlife is a crisis. It's written by psychologist Margie Lockman, who cites studies that show that people's lives satisfaction actually rises as we age. I believe that. Yeah . So why is it so tough for people to deal with this ? Because they have a negative view of it partly. But people are living. Look at this week. Greenspan was one hundred. Yeah, yeah. Clive Davis, ninety four. People are living much longer longer. So vanity. In a way, you have to make an effort. Like when I was forty, right, I got fired from my job at Good America. I got a divorce and I was completely broke. Right. And it was like a way of saying wake up call me was like, you gotta, I could live to be a hundred. That's a lot of years. That's sixty more years. You better do something. Right. And partly because my father was a compulsive gambler, I have that in me too. Do like a casino. I like a gamble, but I'm not don't go over my head like he did. Yeah. I take a risk and I took a risk. Yeah. That's why I could be answering phones for John London if I didn't take that risk. Yeah. See, I think people are more afraid of what it means to get older. I think it's in part mortality, but I think more and more it's the vanity of it . Because you can't wear, you know, some folks should not wear something. Everybody's everybody's not meant to wear everything. And when you hit , you know, when you hit seventy or eighty, maybe you shouldn't be wearing a mini skirt. Yeah . That's way up here. I don't mean just a mini sk irt. I mean a mini skirt . You know, and I think it does that she's twelve. She's got twelve. Twelve and a half. But you know, what's funny is it's kind of putting both your points together. We are living longer. So what it meant to wear a mini skirt back in the day, now you watch a JLO who's in her fifties and you watch people that are aspirational when you're younger like looking at them, you're like, well done That's the whole point is that like I think we're having to redefine what it means. Like moms and dads today, grandparents, great grandparents. Yes. That don't look like they did when I was growing up. They all had white hair and glasses. I don't know if they were thirty or forty, but like correct. Yeah, it has changed. By the way, I do have a headline I want to show of what middle aged women are capable of doing. Do we have it? Jadie Vance went on the view and got absolutely torn to shreds by middle aged shout I am suiting for defamation though. I am not middle aged . But that's independent, I think He did compare you to doing deals with Iran. I know he said I was tougher. I was a tougher negotiator than the Iranians . I'll call the Ayatollah for you, JD. Dave . Honestly, I would trust you . I trust you before him. But you know what? Listen, getting age is a getting older is a privilege. That's right 'cause everybody doesn't get to do it. That's right. So appreciate your life, live your life , move forward , and we'll be right back. Welcome back. The fabulous Colin Farrell took viewers to some really unexpected places on his sci fi detective series Sugar . Now he's back on the case in season two and putting himself in dangerous territory. Take a look. There's a what? Back for more Back because I believe there's a way for us for Guapo and I to clear this up without anyone else getting hurt? No violence . Nice . Righteous or Or I mean, I could just ask him about the fire sale in Downtown . Oh man, that's some open sesame right there. That is what it is . Please welcome back to remarkable Collin Tower 's it here? See you again. Joy. Oh my gosh, he's gaming not just in a gambling sense. So you were watching the show. I was listening. And you know, we talked about the midlife crisis and I heard you just turned the big five O. Jump straight in yeah. Yeah . So happy birthday. Thank you. So how do you feel about it? I feel I love getting older I love getting older. I mean , I feel I feel that I don't I feel that in your teens your twenties and your thirties, you're constantly trying to look for who you are, who you are in relation to the world around you, if your life has meaning, if you're worthy of having a life in all these ways. And as you get older, that stuff kind of fades away , you know? And I just think, yeah, life is so short . If you're lucky to live to eighty or ninety , it's just a blip, you know? And it is a blind. I think we don't talk about death enough. I honestly think we don't talk about death because if you're in life and you have to contend with hunger, our sickness, our war, well then you don't have any existential crises, right? If you're fortunate enough to not have to deal with those major issues like all of us in here, not saying that there aren't sick people in here God forbid and stuff and wish you the best if there is anyone dealing with that, but if you're living a decent enough life and you have a roof over your head and food in your belly, you have existential concerns. They're not the other ones that I just mentioned. Right. And those existential concerns are inevitably going to be around death as well, whether you talk about it or not. Yeah. We all fear it. It's the one thing that we're going to all of us. It's the only thing that's been said before a thousand times. I am telling you a long time away. That grim reaper is coming for you as well , sister. You know, like all of us and I think it's not supposed to talk about death it shouldn't be this big fearsome thing. And don't get me wrong, I'm not okay with us. Like if I'm in an airplane that hits turbulence, I I don't want to die. I want life to slow down. That's the only thing I love getting older, but I'd love to tip the brakes a little bit. It all seems to be going too fast. But as you said, it's just enjoy the moment, enjoy the day, try and have a bit of gratitude . Nature is always around. Human beings are making a mess of things. Nature is honest and always there . And all that kind of jazz. I love being fifty. Yeah. Yeah. Beautifully said. I love sugar. This show is fifty. Yeah, let's sell some TV. I did the first season in just a matter of days and the show has a sci fi twist. If you haven't watched mute your TV's because I'm going to give a little bit of away, but I plug your character plays a private detective in L , but we find out eventually in the show that he comes from this alien group that we send to Earth. Yes. It's actually like the sci fi aspect is actually a very small part of the show, which is fascinating how it's de.ad What can we expect in this new season? Does it explore that more? And I want to know is there any romance in Sugar's future? There are some interspecies . I don't know. We don't really get we don't really get into the ask the questions that might arise, but there's a little bit of romance. He is at the start of the season . He's the only one of his kind left on the planet . So he's contending with a kind of a depth of loneliness that he's never experienced before. And loneliness as everyone in this room, of course, all of us can attest to is a very human thing and we all feel it at certain times. So there's a lot of human experiences. Violence is more prevalent in a personal way to him in this season. So he's just contending the whole thing about being an alien was just so that we could , I suppose, look at the human experience as if it was the quote unquote other and we could see how he was becoming humanized through his involvement and attachment to the human relationships that he was having over time. So it's kind of a gentle show, but it does , yeah, it looks at what it is to be a human being through the gaze of this sentient being from another planet. We all watch it. It's terrific. Thank you for watching. Thanks for watching this. Well, Colin, you recently went to a special screening of Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, which is also a phenomenal film. You reunited with your minority report co star Tom Cruise. I want to ask you what that was like , and where can I get that popcorn bucket? I know. That's wow. Yeah. Steven with popcorn for a brain. I can get you that bucket. Okay, okay. Make some calls, we'll be. I will. I loved with Tom and the Thing Bonnard Reports twenty twenty . twenty years ago. Is it Yes. So good, Spielberg. So good. I mean, that was mad because I was twenty two or three at the time. Wow. And that long ago. Yeah. I'm working with Spielberg, you know, and Tom Cruise. And I grew up, I mean one of the first, I think the first film I ever saw in the cinema was ET and then closed encounters and yeah he's a bit older. Obviously she shared the list, you know, and just you're just John Williams and Steven Spielberg kind of raised me in a way, you know ? So yeah, to see Tom Working with him was a blast. He's a little super tonight. I don't know if he's competitive with him or he was competitive. No, he'd come onto the set and he'd because we were doing yeah . Now Tom was great. He'd come onto the set and he'd watch them because there was one scene in it where we had a foot chase me and him and so they'd be done. There was some shots that we were in the same kind of frame. So he'd I'd run through and then who was chasing who? He'd run through and then I was chasing him, but then there was plenty of footage where they would just shoot my stuff running and then they'd come in and they'd shoot his stuff running and he'd come onto and he'd have a look at the monitor and see what we just shot with me and he'd be like, okay He's like yeah get that cruise get that arrows pumping, but he's amazing, Tom. And honestly, God, he's nothing but my experience of him, he just brings positive energy everywhere he goes, you know, and he's really kind. That's what I want. He really is. Like honestly to God, you know, he's just everyone about it. And he stay here for two hours until the last person leaves the building and sign an autograg. And that's not everyone's cup of tea. I'm not saying it should be everyone's cup of tea, but it's the way he does things. That's amazing. I've got to ask you something because I love you in penguin. I love it . You'll be back as the penguin in the Batman part two after the Penguin TV series. It was nominated for twenty four MEs. You found it. Including Yes. twenty four heavies, including best after you, well deserved. Now you're so unrecognizable better in your other style. I mean, it's unbelievable. And what can you tell us? Like how did you perfect the accent , the walk, the penguin walk? It was incredible. Really fast It was fun . I tried to stay with the limp and then my hips get back to the old age, age. My hips were kind of gone after day two. So I said screw that I'll just do it between action and cut. But no, it was just plain, you know, it was yeah. It was such and I grew up watching, it was such a privilege to do because I grew up watching Burgess Mare death. Yes. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I'm sitting on the on the carpet. I gotta go. Let's go. I told him . No, no , not at all. We just are short Season two of Sugar is streaming right now on Apple TV with new episodes every Friday, do yourself a favor. You wanna have a good time. It's really well done.
