My name is Preston Dennett and welcome to a new episode of UFOs and the Paranormal Thank you so much for joining me. I truly appreciate it Got a very special episode for you today going to be talking about close encounters of the second kind These are cases in which the UFOs affect the environment or the witness in some way The title of today's episode is called A spectacular and extraordinary thing Six exceptionally strange close encounters of the second kind. I think these cases have a lot to teach us about the extraterrestrial presence in our planet I think these cases don't get enough attention. That's why I really wanted to talk about them today The six cases I have for you come from all over the world. includluding Canada England Italy. Dain Alaska and New Jersey So let's just get started. First case I want to talk about today, I call a deafening UFO This one occurred a very long time ago, one day in July of nineteen forty four in the very small town of Vandi This is located in Quebec Canada. And yes, this is a very unusual case This very early case comes from French Canadian researcher Mark Leduc. It involves two seven year old twin girls, Lisette and Lise Bergeron who at the time of their encounter resided in the very isolated and small town of Vandriry, located in the Canadian wilderness of south central Quebec Canada was one brilliant cloudless afternoon in July of nineteen forty four. that Lisette and Lise played in a field not far from their home with around two thirty PM. When the twins' attention was drawn towards an object in the sky above them a large disc shaped craft was moving at a forty five degree angle And as it moved, this disc descended slowly in a wobbling fashion and making a loud, terrifying whistling sound As the twin said, something like a boiling teapot but lower in pitch and much louder The object grew larger as it moved closer And then it stopped at an estimated forty feet directly above the girls' heads At this point, both girls found themselves being pinned to the ground by a whsh of air coming from the craft or perhaps by some force. In fact, their clothes were pressed to their bodies and Lizette said it felt as if a weight was pressed against her body The grass itself was being affected as it was being bent down by the pressure coming from this craft At this point, the whistling sound grew quieter And the craft stopped wobbling and seemed to stabilize itself And now both girls could hear another sound, which they likened to a pencil tapping against glass. Lise was so frightened that she herself didn't look and hid her face against the ground Lisette, however, using a great effort of strength and willpower barely managed to turn her head to get a better look at this craft And she estimates that this disc was about one hundred feet wide She said it had a very beautiful shiny, golden metallic color The bottom section of the craft was covered in concentric circular lines. It had a glassy dome on top through which Lisent could see shifting colors of red Green, yellow and blue. She said the craft had a rotating section. with circles and squares of very bright red, green, yellow, and blue lights around the perimeter Without warning, a cylindrical section about fifteen feet wide extended from the bottom of the craft who remained there for about three minutes and then retracted back into the craft. leaving behind no visible scene. Now the craft began to wobble, while the lights around the perimeter began to spin faster and grow brighter The object then shot up into the sky at an incredible speed and headed northeast and was gone This entire sighting lasted about twenty minutes, which is a pretty long time. then came the strange A Effects The children ran home and both discovered that they were completely deaf They could not hear any noise whatsoever This condition persisted for several weeks During that time, Lisette and Lise who were traumatized by the encounter emotionally, pretty much remained in hiding. Their mother tried to get them to attend school. But the teacher advised her to keep the twins at home as their behavior had become, quote, erratic Thankfully, the girls hearing did return and they had no other ill effects But there were some other curious details One detail, the researchers to this case noted site where the girls had been playing at the time of their encounter was in fact inside a circle of burned sand and grass where their father had burned some material about one year earlier So the grass there didn't grow at all They were sitting inside this burned circle when their encounter happened. Also, during that month, other people in this very tiny town of Vandry also reported seeing the same or similar objects. Most tragically L' and Lisette's father's hair turned white within a single week of this encounter And over the next three weeks, he seemed to age rapidly, and then he passed away Our researchers of course, couldn't say whether or even if This was related to the twins sighting As Mark Leduke, the researcher writes quote For the moment, we have not gathered enough details to explain these events. But we will return to the subject soon So unfortunately, there was no further information published about this case H have to say, I have never heard a case quite like that before. Really unusual physiological effects kindind of feels like an opportunistic event this UFO the UFO occupants saw these two little girls playing outside and just came down and hovered over them I don't know. It's very hard to say for sure I would have loved to follow up to see if these witnesses experienced any further events Apparently they did not because this case is pretty thoroughly investigated What's really unusual to me is of course what happened to the father We can't directly tie this in to the UFO event given that was such a weird encounter and that strange condition Manifested shortly later, I suppose it's possible there's a connection veryery hard to say for sure, but definitely a case worthy of being well known. All right, let's move to the next encounter, which I call The greatest shock of my life This one occurred on october second, nineteen fifty six in Trenton, New Jersey. It's technically a multiple witness case. This one got an enormous amount of publicity, and yet somehow it slid under the radar of a lot of people I think it's an important case Again, this case has been widely published in newspapers, magazines, journals, and in many UFO books, and for good reason It's a very unusual and in some ways a landmark UFO incident was just before four AM on october second, nineteen fifty six. when a five year old boy living on Parkside Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey was lying awake in bed And for some reason went to the window and looked outside And this is when we saw quote A big lighted ball with a tail. He said it arced across the sky He ran and told his parents They dismissed it as a dream and told them to just go back to bed. Around the same time as this incident Another gentleman by the name of Peter Borza thirty eight year old newspaper delivery person. was driving his vehicle along the same Parkside Avenue. This was near Cadwa Loter Park notot far from the above child's home when he saw what he described as a quote white glowing body So there's two witnesses who are seeing a UFO in the same area at the same time Of course, now we get to our main witness Was at three forty five A Fifteen minutes before the two above sightings That Harry J. Sturtevant A sixty six year old night watchman for the Herbert Elkins Construction Company With twenty years of experience as a night watchatchman, He was in his patrol car making his rounds to guard the construction site. He parked his car and walked over to the edge of the Delaware River just across from Rotary Island at the end of Riverside Drive and looked up towards the Rading Railway Bridge over the river And this is when he saw a red ball of light appear over the bridge seemed to be coming from the distance. And immediately it moved at great speed towards him A few seconds later This red object stopped about fifteen feet above the water, one hundred and fifty feet away from the shore, at the midpoint between the Reading Railway Bridge and Rotary Island And Harry, the witness could now see that the red light was in fact A glowing red craft with a smooth surface about one hundred feet long in diameter, somewhat cigar shaped He immediately heard a hissing sound. and smelled an overpowering noxious odor It then swooped past Harry close enough that this foul odor enveloped him And I'll just quote Harry directly. As he says, it had no wings and no fins I heard no propulsion coming from it Except a hissing sound like escaping steam It shot down past me and went into thin air It gave me the greatest shock of my life There was a smell like sulfur or brimstone was something I had never smelled before. I don't know what it was Except it was very nauseating and it made me very sick So in a matter of seconds, this object soared upwards, about five hundred feet and disappeared, quote, into thin air The smell now was so overpowering that Harry was instantly nauseated to the point that he couldn't swallow And in fact, he collapsed onto the ground and had to crawl to his patrol car a short distance away climbed inside the vehicle and sat behind the wheel Uutterly dazed and disoriented. He said his eyes were watering. He realized his hearing was impaired, and his sense of smell he soon learned was now gone. Now Harry had fought in World War O and he had been exposed to mustard gas and a lot of dangerous experiences But he said that this encounter was much worse than any of that says Harry I lost my sense of taste and smell My throat would not swallow properly. The terrible odor was so rank it turned my stomach upside down with very sharp pains that caused me to vomit violently. So he wanted to drive and get help, but he was helpless to do so It took him more than a half hour to feel well enough to even control his vehicle. When he did, he drove straight to his company trailer and called the police and told them, quote I just saw a flying saucer Now when daylight arrived, Lieutenant Ernest Louis and Lieutenant Adolph Miller Qioned Harry extensively and were convinced that he was telling the truth Soon word leaked out to the newspapers. and was then that reporter Emil Slboda of the Trntonian newewspaper interviewed Harry Sturdevant The day after the encounter, Harry's face was burned so badly that he says he was unable to shave for two weeks. And the hearing in his right ear continued to deteriorate reporter Emil Slabota writes, and I quote During my eight years as a crime reporter on the Trentonian I have run into many instances where a hoax was perpetrated or attempted. But never have I found any person as overwrought as Mr. Sturdevant was that night His state was such that tears were streaming from his eyes Something terrified him Now the afternoon after the encounter Harry did return to the site and he saw that the trees near the UFO had been badly burned. As he says The leaves as far as I could see, had burned and fallen to the ground like burned tissue paper Following this encounter, Harry's symptoms continued. He completely lost his sense of taste and smell. hisis hearing was still affected. He sought medical treatment to no avail, and his medical bills started to mount He was unable to work. So Harry applied to New Jersey's workmen's compomensation fund Lawyers for the Herbert Elkins Construction Company opposed the application And this led to a legal hearing which was refereed by state official Leonard B. Willet. The lawyers opposing Harry Stter Levant So that the whole incident had just been Harry's imagination And they found some police witnesses who said that Harry Sturdevant was quote a highly emotional individual The lawyers argued that despite Harry's injuries, the UFO was a product of his imagination, quote Cjured up out of the air Ultimately, the referee, Leonard B. Willetz, sided with Harry's Turdevant, saying, quote, It did not matter whether Stir Devant really saw anything. The important point was that the watchman thought he saw something And it was his duty to investigate So willill it's ruled in Harry Sturdeant's favor and that he should be compensated for his medical injuries received while on the job Reporter Amil Stabota wrote Such a decision almost amounts to an admission by the state that flying saucers do exist. Not surprisingly, lawyers of the Elkins compompany appealed the ruling april twenty second, nineteen fifty eight More than a year and a half after Harry's encounter, Roger W. Kelly Compensation Division Dputy Director ultimately ruled in favor of the Elkins compompany and said that Harry, Sturtevant's medical bills and injuries were the result of quote A hallucination. Now at this time, Harry still had not regained his sense of smell and taste The ruling infuriated reporter Emil Slaboda, who, two months later Pend a letter to the UFO group CSI Civilian Saucer Intelligence wrriting that and I quote I can only state that to the best of my knowledge, he, Harry Surdivant, was telling the truth And in fact, the reporter Emil ended up writing an article for Fate magazine in the june nineteen fifty eight issue detailing this case And as Harry himself says I don't want to talk about it anymore. Be I want to forget the experience This was the first time in my life I was ever scared of anything That case is in some ways unprecedented. It's the first time anyone applied for workers' compensation as a result of a UFO counter And it's just such a shame that it was ultimately denied because certainly it wasn't a hallucination, Not if other people are seeing it and he's affected so profoundly physically. And as he said, it was a very scary experience for him amazing a country that definitely deserves to be well known. So now let's move to the next close encounter of the second kind. This one is really unusual as well I call this one I was visited This occurred on december twentieth, nineteen sixty eight in Junau, Alaska And it is a single witness case, but I wanted to include it because it has some details to it that I have never heard before This case is a single witness case, and the witness was only five years old at the time it occurred But it's a very unusual and compelling encounter The witness provided his first hand testimony to the National UFO Reporting Center New fork. thirty one years after it occurred. and as he says The memory burns bright The witness says it occurred very near Christmas in nineteen sixty eight in his parents' home in Junaux, Alaska I'll just let the witness describe what happened in his own words. As he is anonymous, I'll call him Paul The encounter began late at night, and as Paul says I was awakened by a medium, bright, whitish or bluish white light coming in through the window was many times brighter than any moonlight could ever be When I toddled out of my bed and stepped into the beam I quickly became paralyzed and unable to move. The object I could see out the window had the appearance of a half moon but was tilted at a bizarre angle And the flat side wasn't flat It had a kind of scalloped edge, like you might see on the tops of medieval castle towers It appeared about double or triple the size of the moon Be so young at the time It's really difficult to estimate I'd say it was hovering in place no more than a few hundred feet away Probably one hundred and fifty feet in altitude. Now Paul heard no sound Nor did he ever see any aliens And after an undetermined amount of time standing paralyzed in this beam of light Paul estimates it was about fifteen or thirty minutes The light winked out and he was able to move But it was what happened afterwards that was particularly unusual Paul says Immediately after the light went away My hearing was highly enhanced A pin dropping or a floorbeam cracking would sound like a piece of rebar being slammed down onto concrete And I had what I might now describe as a kind of altered sense of awareness for hours afterwards. Now while this effect was most pronounced immediately after the encounter Paul continued to have episodes of enhanced awareness. As Paul says Fong this night. at very frequent and repeated, often nightly instances of a kind of dreamlike state But each would start the same Square or rectangular blocks of brilliant yellows, greens, and blues would appear in my visual field rapidly appearing and superimposing themselves over previous ones. Shortly thereafter An area of scintillating green would appear at the center. My hearing would be enhanced as it was the night after the event At this point, I'd become paralyzed and unable to move, yet would be wide awake Often this would occur well before I'd even start to fall asleep or would occur in broad daylight while playing or at the table A sense of great fear accompanied these Now this effect continued throughout Paul's childhood and adolescence and then to some extent into adulthood And as Paul says over many years, I learned a technique that would stnap me out of these most of the time And after that, they slowly decreased and finally virtually disappeared by the time I was twenty or so Only rarely do these visions ever appear anymore And I can almost always abort them before they go into their fear inducing paralytic stage Now whatever this effect is Paul is convinced that it was because of his encounter And as he says, firmly believe I was visited and have always believed But who do you tell? Until now, only a couple of people over all these years have ever known It is time for this to come out and become public How about that? Very interesting There are quite a few cases where people report having their senses enhanced in some way Most often I hear it's vision Hearing is one that I really haven't heard, not quite in that way So that is why I wanted to include that case. It's so unusual. and really just different Every case has something to offer to our understanding of what's going on here with the extraterrestrial presence on our planet So now let's move to the next case. Of all the cases in this collection, this one barely qualifies as a close encounter of the second kind But it absolutely does because it did affect the environment I call this one The UFO in the cotton field This one occurred one evening in august nineteen seventy three in Garina, Spain And yes, this one has multiple witnesses. It's quite well verified. It's in my mind, undeniable We got a little bit more to say about it. after I present this case to you This case comes from Spanish researchers, Joaquin Mateos, noogales Mmanuel Philppo Kabana G. Andrew de Los Santos And Antonio Moya Spa All members of Centro de Estudios Interpllanetarios or the Center of Inmplanetary Studies. It is located in Barcelona This case first appeared in the center's publication StendDeck in the march nineteen seventy nine issue in an article titled Ovniss Una nocha Teribble, or UFOs a terrible night It was later reprinted in flying saucer review in the November december nineteen seventy nine issue This case involves seven witnesses The primary witness is Antonio Fernando Gonzalez Antonio and six other men were all farmworers at a cotton farm in a rural area of Gerina, Spain Around three thirty AM one morning in mid august nineteen seventy three. They were working in the fields to water the cottons. They were applying the second watering of the night They each had flashlights and were checking on the irrigation as they walked between the rows of cotton plants. Antonio was the first of the men to see a white light coming down the side of a low hill off in the distance Thing that it looked strange, he called out to two of his coworkers Francisco Berrera and David Gonzalez and asked if they had noticed this strange light They had and suggested that it might be a car filled with hunters coming to the area. Antonio didn't think so, as he says the light was too bright to be a car So they continued working and as they did, this light kept moving closer. And it was now becoming increasingly mysterious And one of the workers looked at it and remarked, gives me the creeps. Antonio sat down on the irrigation pipe and said, It's coming much closer and it's not a car nor is it a plane It was too high to be a car and it was too low to be a plane And by now All seven workers could see it, and they were becoming very nervous about it One of the farmworers suddenly shouted out It's one of those flying saucers that people are talking about. Antonio agreed and said, yes, that's it. That's it. a flying saucer Can't you see it is So this object continued to move slowly closer, apparently just a few meters above the ground And it was so bright that it hurt their eyes to even look at it But they could now see that it was oval in shape or more accurately like an upside down bowl or dome shaped Suddenly it was clear that this object was heading directly for them. They all quickly turned off their flashlights. It's still the object approached Soon the craft was only feet away and still coming directly for them. One of the men threw himself down in the mud between the rows of cotton and shortly later The other six did the same thing This light, which they could now see was a craft of some kind, passed directly over them Looking up, they could see it's perfectly round bottom side. which had a series of red lights As soon as the object reached the man, It stopped in Hovered causing extreme terror among the group In fact, the object was so low that it was grazing the tops of the comp It was large, well over one hundred feet A F few of the men thought that perhaps the weird craft was actually going to land directly on them and flatten them to the ground It was making a loud noise similar to a jet but different And it was so bright, it lit up the whole field like daylight After a few terrifying moments, the craft slowly moved away, leaving behind a strange whitish mist Antonio could now see through the brightness of the craft that it was in fact metallic It moved away And the men switched their flashlights on and began working as fast as they could so they could finish and leave the area quickly But suddenly the UFO came back for another run. Once again, it swept directly over them And once again, the men threw themselves to the ground in fear as it passed right over their heads It kept going, leaving behind a whitish mist. but once again, it circled back and came at them again didid this once or twice more for a total of four or five times with the last sweep being the lowest The men feel certain that had they stood up, they would have bumped their heads against it. Now the men felt no heat coming from this object Nor did they experience any physical effects from it? A after it moved off, they rushed back to the household and woke everyone up to share what they had witnessed Other workers at the opposite end of the farm were also in the fields at the time But they did not see anything unusual And that was the end of the encounter TheQuestion is why was it so interested in the men or the cotton plants? This remains a mystery However, not long after the incident and this could be a clue One of the farmworers David Gonzalez was returning home on his motorcycle after visiting his friend As he drove along the road, A UFO dropped down and landed in the middle of the road, blocking his way David didn't hesitate He leapt off his motorcycle, leaving it behind. and r back to his girlfriend's house She ran outside just in time to watch the object take off. I think you'll agree that's a very unusual case. My question about it is why wereere these farmworkers targeted? It certainly looks like it whether or not this encounter was intentional is of course up to question, but it certainly looks like it, given that this UFO kept swooping down over and over again or over these frightened farm workers So perhaps the UFO occupants saw their flashlights and just came down to investigate it Looks like they were giving them an encounter that was absolutely undeniable Or maybe, and again I'm speculating here, Maybe they were more interested in one particular witness there. Given that later One of the witnesses came upon a UFO, landed in the road right in front of him That seems to me more than just a coincidence I don't know, but it's another case that really has a lot of high strangeness and adds to the whole bizarre catalog of UFO couounters The now number is frankly in the millions funny to me that people can deny the reality of UFO's When there are so many cases, it's absolutely undeniable. Now let's move to the next close encounter, which has got to be my favorite in this collection. ' usually one favorite and this one is it for me I call this one They want to take me with them. This occurred in autumn of nineteen seventy seven, one late afternoon, early evening in Sussex, England It is technically a single witness case. though the witness had prior encounters with other witnesses. So I guess you could call it a multiple witness case. But it is so unusual This one intimates humanoids being involved, even though the witness didn't actually see them But let's just get to it This very unusual case comes from researcher Patricia V. Grant, who published it in an article in the april nineteen seventy nine issue of Flying Saucer Review titledQote A very personal encounter somewhere in Sussex The witness is known only by her first name, Denise She's a nurse who served in the British military. And particularly relevant here, she was trained in aircraft recognition. It was five twenty PM one evening in the fall of nineteen seventy seven that Denise stood at a bus station in Sussex waiting for the bus to arrive. She just lit a cigarette. When looking up, She saw a dark oval shaped object that appeared to her as if it had just risen from the grounds of a nearby abandoned campsite The object was an estimated two hundred and twenty feet away and about three hundred feet in altitude. Denise says that she felt quote extremely amazed that there was absolutely no engine noise at all She said the object moved very quickly and with amazing maneuverability It seemed to reflect in the setting sun and unable to identify the craft Denise, kind of on of impulse sent out a mental message to the presumed occupants of the craft thinking Come down here And let me get a good look at you Now immediately as if in response, the craft changed course and began to move in her direction. And she watched in amazement as this craft came closer and remained in view for at least ten minutes. In fact, it got close enough for her to get a very good look at it. As she says The black oblong shape appeared to decrease in length And the sun's reflection showed me it had a type of dome on top and was oval underneath. You could now see that its surface was a gray metal with a sort of greenish tint There was a green blue light on top. The object revolved slowly in a clockwise direction hovering over a building no more than fifty feet away. As it hung there Deniece had the strange feeling of being surrounded by what she called, quote An invisible ray which he felt was coming from underneath the craft As she says I know it sounds silly But I felt as though I was being watched by it. Now suddenly, Denise found herself being startled out of her reverie and saw that the bus she was waiting for was now idling in front of her with its door open This surprised her And she could normally hear the bus one or two minutes before it was even in view She now realized that the cigarette in her hand was now completely spent I she tried to get the coins to pay the bus driver She noticed something strange Her fingers were weirdly numb, stiff and uncoordinated. In fact, her whole body seemed to have been affected as she found herself stumbling to get onto the bus. The craft was still in view There was only one other person on the bus besides the driver And Denise did not alert either of them to the presence of the craft As the bus drove off, Denise noticed that she now had an acute headache onene which would persist until the next morning She ended up arriving fifteen minutes late for work Nervous, shaky, and clumsy So this meant that the bus must have been quite late that the entire UFO sighting must have lasted for thirty five minutes. Yet, Denise feels certain that she did not view it for more than fifteen minutes In other words, there appears to be about twenty minutes of time that she does not recall As Denise says I was very thirsty after the sighting I downed at least a pint of lemonade as soon as I had the chance But I remember feeling queasy Also, I was thirsty all evenings I felt unsafe and I longed to get home to security But when I eventually did get home, I still felt the same way I remember my heart racing So the next day, Denise developed still more symptoms Her eyes burned and watered for a full week And she was eventually diagnosed with conjunctivitis Her vision became poor. gastric disturbances Her movements continued to be clumsy She had low energy and troubble sleeping One of the most interesting after effffects was a clear and vivid, repetitive dream that seems to indicate perhaps much deeper levels of contact As Denise says The dream I have never varies I frequently dreamed the occurce exactly as it happened I see the UFO very clearly. travels across the sky and then turns towards me exactly as the event occurred Now up to this point, the dream is exactly as she remembers her sighting then instead of just flying off The dream describes something else happening that she does not consciously remember As Denise says Then I have telepathic conversation with the occupants. They are curious about me and want to speak with me They are pleased that I am not performing in the usual manner of observed subjects. I am not at all frightened and feel very pleased at their appearance. They say they know me they want to take me with them. I am very happy with the idea, but then I remember my family and my husband I say I would miss my family and want them to come with me to see whatever I will see in my travels with them to their home planet. They argue with me They want only me We reach deadlock and they say that they will come again to see me and see if I wish to go alone with them They sadly say goodbye I also say goodbye. I'm very, very sad at their going. I never actually see them in person But I feel I know them well but had forgotten about them while I was here on Eth. I seem to know subconsciously that I will never come back to Earth once I go with them Also that I will not want to return. Now perhaps relevant here is that eight or nine years earlier, one night in nineteen sixty eight or nineteen sixty nine Denise and her husband drove through Ashdown Forest. and said that they were paced in their vehicle by a strange craft for at least thirty minutes. It followed them to their home As Denise says We were both very frightened and we're extremely glad to turn up the lane to our home We did not stop to look to see if it was around, and we went indoors very quickly Now it was around this time that they had two other sightings and some other strange events occurred. whileile Denise's case was being researched by Patricia Grant Denise and Patricia had frequent problems with letters which they were mailing to each other They would arrive ripped in half or stuck on their front door, not where they should be. Also, Denise reported a strange prowler looking in the window of her house She let the dog out. But uncharacteristically, the dog ran inside, cowered and growled instead of going after the intruder as he normally would have Denise did consider hypnosis to recall the missing time But so far has not followed through with this. But one final, strange and permanent after effffect of the encounter Patricia, the researcher writes permanent personality change did occur She Denise confesses to having had a strong temper before this event But now she seldom becomes upset or angry This one certainly sounds like it could be a onboard encounter given that the witness did have missing time. had these dreams where she was conversing with an ET hard to say for sure because sometimes simple sightings do involve telepathic elements as well as amnesia. That's not At all unusual. People can forget about a simple sighting and then later remember it Of course she didn't forget about it These dreams are, I think, quite revealing What's really remarkable is how profoundly this witness was affected notot only physically But emotionally not getting angry anymore and spiritually, apparently having this kind of conversation with these apparent humanoids It's a tremendous case and just really fascinating to me All right, now let's get to our last and final case in this compilation. This one is an amazing case, which I call A spectacular and extraordinary thing. This one occurred on june fifth, nineteen eighty three in The small town of Varsi, Italy This is a multiple witness case. It's incredibly well authenticated and it's very unusual and definitely an important addition to the whole Catalog of UFO Encounters. This final case was researched by investigators from the Italian National Uphological Center. prrimarily Antonio Humento was published first in their publication Notario UFO in the September october nineteen eighty three issue And later in the International UFO Journal The November December nineteen eighty four issue The Flying saaucer review. volume thirty number six, nineteen eighty five fininally in the French magazine, Numiere Ton Lan Luid November, December, nineteen eighty five issue It's a complicated, unusual multiple witness case, which took place on june fifth, nineteen eighty three in the Stephora valley in this small and stunningly beautiful town of Vari, Italy. The primary witness is farmer Mario Claretto, he's fifty six years old at the time of his encounter It was five fifty AM on june fifth, nineteen eighty three, when Mario was awakened by the dogs outside. They were barking furiously So he arose from bed and looked up the window And to his surprise, he saw a metallic shiny craft Just over five hundred feet away from his house beyond the alfalfa fields was sitting on the ground only about thirty five to forty feet away from the road. fllat on the bottom as near as you could tell, Dome shaped on top. with an orange light at the apex of the dome And it appeared to be slowly rotating counterclockwise The object was silver except for a small black section. ammazed and uncomprehending at what he was seeing He woke up his wife Vilia. She looked at it very briefly and remarked that it was silver like tinfoil And seeing the orange light, she wondered if it might be a reflection from the morning sun But Mario pointed out that the sun had not quite yet risen over the hills. Eilia was unimpressed at first and just went back to bed And as Mario says was like an egg shaped object, hovering about fifty centimeters from the ground From its rotating top went out a strange yellow reddish light that was intermittent I called my wife and she also cited the strange thing. Then I noticed that our neighbor Bruno Stafferini was also observing the thing near the metallica enclosure of his courtyard. knowing that they had guests later that day and that he had food to prepare Mario went down to the kitchen to begin working All at the same time looking at this strange craft in his fields. Finally, curiosity began to get the better of him. He did have a heart condition, so he moved slowly from the house and started to walk towards it And as he did so, He saw a man moving very swiftly and deftly through the fields towards the craft This man was wearing a blue shirt with vertical white stripes And the man walked right up to the object, only a few feet away and seemed to disappear. Moments later, this man reappeared and was now running like a matman in a headlong flight away from the object He ran down the road and disappeared off into the distance Meanwhile, Mario's neighbor, Bruno Staffarini, was also looking at this strange craft. And Bruno says I was in bed and heard the dogs barking, and I thought it was a wild boar hanging around nearby This had happened once before down into the courtyard Well now the dog that was on the chain was barking so fiercely that he had almost torn himself loose He seemed to be rabbid while the other dog which I always leave loose Dashing out in the direction of the hill opposite our house then stopping at one certain spot sparking furiously and turning around and coming straight back to near my feet. And he did this several times. So at this point Bruno's neighbor Mario spoke out and alerted him to look towards the field where there was, quote, something abnormal sitting on the ground. And as Bruno says To me, it looked like a piece of tin fooil glittering and moving to and fro and so frightening the dogs How could I imagine that later I would see a flying object rise up from that spot Never Then Mario called my attention to a tall thin individual who was running like a madman towards the highway. So Mario himself was keeping a close eye on the object as he, along with his neighbor Bruno Watch this man run away And Mario thought to himself I bet it's now going to take off Of course, that's exactly what happened As Mario says That machine rose up slow A few seconds after that chap's frantic escape In fact, I thought maybe they had ignited a gas or something of that sort to make the man leave And this was what had terrified him. But this is, of course just my theory. So now I was able to see the lower part of the object which the tall alfalfa had prevented me from seeing The under partart was indeed flat but shaped like a slightly upturned dish or silver tinfoil colored spinning top I wasn't the least bit frightened I enjoyed a beautiful spectacle. When that machine rose up just like a flying saucer The machine did not rise vertically, but covered some meters, grazing the ground at a height of about two meters a vapor or smoke came out, It seems almost to be a powder brown or brick colored All this without any sound When the object had gained height They look just like a pear without its stalk and of a color resembling dark brown I followed it with my eyes until it was just a dot in the completely clear sky So Bruno saw this too, as Bruno says My neighbor shouted, Look, Bruno, look, it's taking off. And so I saw it too. Now Mario's wife, Vilia, heard her husband shouting out that the object was taking off So she went outside to see And as Velia says I too was able to see this round thing, stationary at first and then moving What a sensation I felt. What a beautiful thing. What colors Before I die, anyway, I've seen something that I had never believed in when I heard folk talking about such things Having once seen such an object? I can never say again that I don't believe those things we call flying saucers or UFOs. Now again, Mario had a heart condition, was therefore reluctant to hike up to the area where the saucer had sat But he did alert his son in law, who had been sleeping at the time of the encounter. The son in law was understandably angry that they had not awakened him to see it But he immediately hiked up to the spot and could see that the alfalfa was bent down, but not flattened in a three meter wide circle And all around this area was something that looked like ash. It was two days after the incident that mr. Tonari, who owned the field where the object had landed puzzled when he saidw a car parked near his field Two individuals came out and examined the site As he says, Two individuals in white overalls got out of it. and took readings with some strange instruments pointed towards the spot where the mysterious object had touched down As soon as I got near them They departed in haste without saying a word. Now there was another possible after effffect A few days after the encounter Mario Evilia Cloretto say that they found that their broody hen had died under mysterious circumstances. They also found out that one of their neighbors also had two hands die, quote without any apparent reason Now this case was thoroughly investigated not only by researchers, but by the police who found no evidence of a hoax. Following the event and in amazing corroboration. There was a rash of sightings in Italy with hundreds of witnesses But as Mario Evilia say That morning has changed our entire lives Before that, we didn't believe in those machines or flying saucers called UFOs. Nor after it do we now believe We don't believe We now know that they exist I love the UFO landing cases. There's really no chance of misidentification or misperception because These craft are nuts an anomalous light up in the sky This case, of course, involves landing traces and animal effects What's really unusual to me about it is the fact that the witnesses saw somebody Walk up to it and run away. Makes me wonder if there's more to this encounter than wor'reth seeing love to hear what this other witness that the two main witnesses has to say Unfortunately, he was never located What's really interesting to me also is that this case is authenticated or corroborated, I should say by the fact that the next day there was a massive wave over Italy. So an amazing case on so many levels So that's it Six close encounters of the second kind, each affecting the witness or the environment in some way And as you can see, yes, these cases are important because they have a lot to teach us and they provide physical evidence of some form at least. It's always funny to me when people say, Ohh, there's no evidence for UFOs. They simply haven't done their homework Another thing I hear is just, oh, trust me, bro. It's all anecdotal. Well, obviously it's not Sometimes people tell me something like Photograph or it didn't happen. Oh really Well, let's say there's a bear behind you And I'm warning you about a bear and You say photo or didn't happen And then you get mauled by the bear Well, there you go. that's kind of Stange analogy. I know, but The point is just because someone doesn't have a photograph of their encounter doesn't mean it didn't happen To me, the best evidence for UFOs is the huge number of cases coming from people all over the world, occurring decade after decade
