SmackDown Spoilers and Final Episode Thoughts

You came back to where you started We're here to review this episode of Monday Night RaW, which may or may not contain spoilers for SmackDown because SmackDown is also taped after Rw. If we do go into them, we will give a big preface to say We're going to go into the spoiler territory now because there's some big news coming out of SmackDown. that may or may not tie into some of the things that we're going to talk about on today's episode. But we are going to talk about Monday Night Raw And I would say Big talking point coming out of this episode of Monday Night Raw was Oh boy Ober Femi sure looks like a big dumb dumb now whichich I would disagree with because I think a lot of people have very overreacted to this But at the same time, I do think it is slightly a lame choice U I think we all look like big dumb dums now. I think because we all we all say things matter and we like believe in stakes and believe in what we're told then and then they just say, Oh, no you know? Yeah, Lol like changed my mind. Yeah. L, do you remember when so like, well I mean, so the thing is Oas said, I don't need my My title matched Sumers sllam Yanks. Yeah, the Heans. so He won the King of the Ring tournament Yeah. The whole point of the King of the Ring tournament was the winner gets a title shot at Sumerslland, be that against the worldorld Heavyweight champion or the WW Champion. It's completely their choice. On this episode O Oh opened up the show and put over his own pop know, I absolutely adore.'s like it's a very Kevin Asash way of approaching wrestling. And he says, you know, Destiny wanted me to win King of the Ring, but Destiny still has much more work for me Pasna comes out, And he's there with Paul Heayman and I just h was like, man, that guy was nothing to do with the vision, which he then completely fobbed. He fobbed off later on, actually in a very short amount of time It was Brock that cut the promo. Yes, whichich you don't often hear Brock doing. it's, you know, quite a reason why Brock oftenut the promo bits. was that was the meat and potatoes of the promo. It was ye Yeah. a lot of his promo was like, I don't got promos. I don'tut promos. I don't watch these shows. But I have heard because Paul's told me that you've been saying some mess about me And you would call me a little bitch. So E get h And he kicks him in the dick, gives him an F five and he'sop off and's like man Bulham was like, yeah, you got him man Op grabs the mic And he says All right. I will call you a little bit behind your back also call you one right to your face me you at Serslam. And Brooks says Well, I'll face you at Samuslam Inside hell and a cell And that was the end of the segment Backstage, Paul Hayman is talking with Adam Piers and he's like I've just given you the biggest main evvent on a planet. You've got to make this thing official. And Adam Pierce is like, there's a lot more like a play here. Austin Theory walks up and Paul Hayman iss like, whoo are you? And Austin Theory says, Hey, I didn't even know you werere going to be here today. What's going on? And Hym's like, you got a match later and he walks off Adapears, then walks up to Ofem and he's like Are you sure about this? You sure you want to face Brock Kesnna inside Helena cell Ober says Yeah. What's the effect of there's some things that are more important than championships? U I'm not I will still get my title shot. I'm just going to take it at a different time. like just to be clear, you're going to forego your title shot and you' like, yes to get his match with Brock Lesnner Cutback to the commentadesk, Michael Cole says Ober Femi has foregone his championship opportunity at Sumerslam and will now face Brock Lesnner instead rendering most of June pointless Yes, certainly the King of the Ring tournament and this is again I kind of want to get I don't want to jump ahead to the main event of this episode of Raw. Yeah. But a guy who got eliminated in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament to get a title shot at Sammer sllam Yeah is getting a title shot on S forward to just take it because he asked. Yeah. orr didn't even ask he to sort of he just sort of took opportunity to walks. It didn did'ly ask for permission to do the segment, I assume. Yeah. I he Pierce and be like, can I go around next? But we'll get there I u Positive first I'm looking forward to watching that Helena Cell match. Yeah, I think that's an interesting match. I think in the triple H era, they have reprotected the Helen Sell stipulation. Yeah This is only the second one he's done. like the first onevly been the incredible Drew punk match that we had a couple of years back at back. Unless you count the Helen Cell match of Rusmo thirty nine Oh yeah, but it was sponsored by Russell Crow. That was still with Vince Vinisms within it. I power struggle. I think we could say there's been one Helen the sell match. So he hass done done a really good job of protecting that gimmick and making it feel like a big deal again. So yeah, positives. I think that match will pretty pretty good. Yeah. It'll be one of the shorter held to sel matches, but and I also think that you know, I actually enjoyed the segment. I thought I thought Brock's business of I don't really appreciate being called a bitch. so I'm going to treat you with a bitch move and kicking you in in the Gads And then over being like, I'm not likeike he sold it really well. The delivery of the follow up was well Brock and Heayman's like That was a good promo. I really enjoyed their dynamic in this. I thought the whole segment overall was quite good U Subsequently, that's when I start feeling like we're all treated like dumoms because The idea that Obber can just say, Oh, I don't want that Now I'll have another til's not going anywhere. I'll have another time Okay, I mean, yeah, I suppose that's true. Same same with it Drremal and Cody won the rumble and it's like, I'ming for your belt. just not yet. Yeah I okay. I'll do it at Summer sllame instead, maybe. But I'll just do it at some point in the future. sureure. like cool. I guess that's gonna pop a rating for bad blood. if they do bad blood. money in the bank whatever. Oh yeah, that's true. a it's a big show that one I just found this to be Again, like A lot of the refrain that I had in yesterday's show was all right, you want to do this Don't just take the least interesting route If you want to do Brok and Ober, but you want to have Ober win King of the Ring. Well let's either do your suggestion of Brock on night one, Title on night two and Obber Fem's young and powerful and on a tear. and he's like, no, I can do both. Like I can do both and everyone around him is being like, Ober, you don't, you can't do both. You're going inside Hellen of the cell with Brock Lesnar.r even you could keep the Hellen in the cell stipulation away from it. like you're going to face Brock Lesnar on one night. and then you're going to face Roman Reigns and the bloodline on the second. creates a hell of a lot of adversity for Ober Femi on night two an interesting show one to, show two storyline. And let's say he does be Brock Lesnar And he doesn't and they don't want to have him get the job done on on night two. I don't think he looks weak from doing a two night thing against like all of this all of his adversity. kind of giveing him an o. Yeah. O You know, you don't want to have him face room. you don't want to have him pull double juy. Okay, well in that case, maybe let's do a five week storyline of him trying to figure out the inner conflict of I've got this title match, I want that. Which one is more important to me slapping the taste out of Brock Lesard's mouth once and for all or winning that belt. These are two things that are very important to me, sell the steakakes, have a bit of inner conflict, have a journey for us all to go on together. Instead of bantering it off within the space of the first fifteen minutes of the show After youve spent a month telling me You know, and it was the same thing with the OOSky because they have had any conflict over whether or not she either go after Rheia or if Ra is injured and has to vacate the title, maybe I'll go for the championship that I I can win it on behalf of my best mate Or will I go for this person? I've just beaten no no, no, I can be again because she's really annoying. Like what Could you have why aren't we being given conflict and stakes and stories and interesting things and it just made me feel stupid for in any way engaging with the stakes that I've been presented for all of June. Because if you're big idea and your big plan. and apparently this has been, you know, we talked about this on yesterdays show. I fair believe we talked about this The rumored or the reported main event of Summerslam was Roman versus Seth in the World Heavaweight Championship, whichich is why we're going down so many routes of like, well, how do you get the title on Brock then so that Op can faceers orers Jw J. Yeah it's this any other right, but the long term plan was Roman versus Seth at Sumerslam. becauseuse that was the match you wanted to at WrestleMania, then Seth got hurt, so you pivoted? and you did a different thing instead I J just have se set in the's on with them have Seth win the tournament and win the right to face Roman Reign at Sumerslam. Yeah. instead of having him eliminated in the first round If you then wanted to have, oh we wanted to do Bron versus Seth, have them have their final match at Night of Champions, then put Bron on the other side of the bracket. Yeah and then tell the story of them two going through this to face off against each other Maybe like maybe you could even do that. like maybe Seth could interfere on Bron's behalf to force him into the title or or the other way around. like you could have what if you what if you had Seth versus Ober in the semifinal and Bron Breaker interferes on Seth's behalf to get him into the final because he wants to be the one to ruin Seth's chances or whatever and then you've got a feud between Bron Breaker and Ober Femi going forward if you wanted to do that. I don't know. like Everything is within your power, explore every storyline opportunity. Maybe you don't want to do that because you don't want to see Fy take take a loss even dirty. L Okay, great. Well we've had that conversation and we can look at another alternative. I just feel like they're not exploring all of the options and finding the most creatively satisfying one, they're just going like spaff it out on a piece of paper And They theyll they'll eat their slop Or you know and if you don't want to gu go, you know, maybe that's too many bells and whistles in it, donon't put Ober in the tournament. Yeah. but you know, give Ober something else to have done and give him a different feud that he could have done that have taken him out of the Kingdomreen Tournament. Paul Heayman did a deal with Adam Pierce to get Ober out the tournament. whatever you want to do, right? But if you want to have like Seth versus Bron put Bron on the other side of the brackets, put Seth on this side of the bracket, and they're going to be in the final you might say was a bit predictable. But let may presresent to you though the men's Oen Hearts Tournament, which only had one final really going for, which was Will Osprey vers. Swerve Strickland But we all knew that was going to be the final But the story they told by the time you got to there made that match really dramatic and really powerful and really impactful. People don't mind predictability. People don't mind predictability so long as you're telling a good story Yeah with good characters and motivation and stakes and it makes things matter. Yeah. because you want to feel like again, it's the feeling of a return on investment and what I feel now is oh, I got invested and for no reason. So yeah I gu I guess I won' tun in next week. then. this was the thing we talked about After Sammy winning was like, okay, that makes me want to tune in And I've just watched this and gone Okay, five weeks of of what? like what story? Yeah, for all of the show Yeah, I guess. Well, I mean, we can have more promos about the shield the history between those two because we haven't done that W the shield that good? Okay here's what you forget, D it was Triple's idea So there's a reason why it's focused on a lot now It was Triple H's first big creative idea that he had on this show other than the Montreal sccrew job So he's now like that is his thing. So The shield were break deal They also they also I want to be clear they were because I know people are very invested in this shield. But what I find interesting is that they've got so many new viewers over the last fourteen years who weren't there when it was a long time ago when the shield broke up and when the shield were a thing. There are new viewers now that could not give a flying to. It does feel a little bit like the Rock and Farut having a fight in two thousand six. Do you know what I mean? Do remember the nation? Yeah. R remember when I took the leadership from you? Yeah, exactly, right.. shield more impactful.ike I just want I'm heading off all of thements. Of course, absolutely. But also but we've seen it. I. So I think to your point, like going through the Patreon comments, people aren't vibing with the Shield law. I think that's being like The reason why we're getting so much of this sort of like anti shield law, I'm sort of like going by our comments. I've not seen like socials or anything like that, but O our patreon comments are very much around the idea of, well, Ober just lost his title shot because of shield law That's where the frustration comes from. It's not that we're just doing shhield law again. I think that's being exacerbated by the fact that We were all looking forward to Op getting a title shot at Smerlam. and now instead, we're getting a retread of something that I've seen countless times before and I'm sort of tired of seeing. I thought the main event promo segment was really good. Yeah. I do. I thought it was some of Seth's best work. I actually really vibed Roman's responses was really good. was great. yeah. es for them to actually say some words, but I it was, you know, when they actually did say the words, I really liked it. I thought Seth was great. I thought Roman was great. I think Seth's reasoning for getting this title shot. I think Roman's reason for getting this title shot is the idea of like vanquishing and expelling the ghost of Rollins. This might be the last time we get to do this dance. There's younger kids who are trying to take our spots, not overfemi, not Brom Breaker, but you know, there are other kids maybe who are trying to take up We're old now. we're closer to the N we. I thought a lot of that stuff was really, really good And I think that People are just sort of against it. becausecause you gave us something on Saturday and you've taken it away forty eight hours later. Yeah. And and I think the big Beef ultimately that I've got is that I know that the conversation will be, well C Smerlam If the matches go off right and we enjoy ourselves then ultimately how we got there doesn't really matter, of course L it's not going to go down in history. It's not going to be what people remember. And I find that sort of it's the same argument as like, Do I want to open this kind of words? I'll consider it I feel like that is creative. I feel like that's a lack of ambition and I feel like that's If you if you If you if the wor if you okay when people use AI to make music and they say like I don't know how to like play the guitar. so I had AI do it for me. Well, maybe you shouldn't take aitar then. Like just noone gets to. Yeah. if you like if you can't make art without using AI because you don't haven't developed the craft of making the art Don't be an artist, Do something else. find D The same argument If you don't care about how you get there. what's the Sorry, that's not a bad word. I'm in bad word territory at the moment because it's making me so crossed. But like what's the point? Yeah? What's the point of me watching your show? What's the point of you touring? What's the point of An of this if you don't care, if it doesn't matter. if Brock Lesnar is going to come out on the television and I know he's being a heel and he's saying healel things, and that's the point. he's trying to get heat. But if Brock Lesnar comes on television says I don't watch this. Well, I'm an idiot for watching it that. Yeah, I take your point on that one Lately. If if you're telling me that all that matters is whether or not it's cool on the night in Summer sllam none of the next five weeks matter. So what's the point of this? What's the point of this? What's the point of any of it? Can I give you my big prediction? Yeah. H here's Luke Owen putting down his wild speculative prediction and then we'll bring it up a lot on other podcasts. M Roman will retain the title at Sumerslam. Seth will win money in the bank. It'll be Roman versus Ober for the title at Money in the bank, Seth cashes in on the same night and pins Roman reign to win the World title and during the match. During the match Recreate WrestleMania thirty one There's my big prediction, everyone. I got off for next Monday's R Remember berries. L I just like was And I get disheartened by it because I really care about this stuff. Like I care about this business and I care about these stories and I care about these characters and I care about the wrestlers who do it. I don't care about the companies, but I care about you know, that's ultimately what frustrates me is that it's It should be better and it's not I completely. And I feel insulted for So wanting to watch? Yes So let's go through the rest of this episode of Raw because we had that opening segment. We had Heayman backackstage them making that match. We then had Ry Mysterio taking on Ethan Page. I think the story of this show is that this crowd were here to see Opra Fermi and Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins and didn't give one single care in the world for anyone else. There was an amazing wide shot during one of the matches later on the show and they're all just sat there like this That is very still for our podcast listeners. Like they were like video game crowds but actually video game crowds are more active. They've all got signs. they're all like animated around U yeah, this was a decent match. It was a good match, but like the crowd didn't care about this. The crowd did not care about the Austin theory match. They cared so little for the Rquel Rodriguesz match. They cared so little for the Chad Gable Yeah. And Chad Gable coming off the back of this big mask versus mask triple out was a good match Great match. and itone wass like he's going to get this big monster push off the back of it. He comes out here could not care. Yeah. it got to a point in the show where you could tell this Atlantic City crowd were just waiting for Roman reigns. Yeah. And so and anyone else who came out the show was just more annoying to them that you're not Roman. I just want to see Roman and go home. Yeah. there is a real gulf between level stars and everyone else, which is a lot like that sort of I mean I might be slightly exaggerating my point here, but two thousand five up until twenty nineteen twenty twenty one WWE. actually maybe even like post pandemic W before Tple H took over. Your top stars, you John Seniors, your Randy Ortons, hugely popular, hugely over. and then it was everyone else. Yeah. And it was just everyone else felt like a lower mid card because no one cared. There's no stick and there's no all the matches are so formulaic that you are trained time wise to know when like So last week I knew G go to the toilet now I did laugh when they were running down the match card and they said that Helly night and J you so we were having a rematch. Oh I said really Really? that Of all the ones from last week, that's the one. Sure. No, like you know And notothing in the way the match is put together and it was particularly during the Racella magazine match. that I noticice this. I was like Nothing in these matches is going on such that you're going be whipped up into a frenzy. Like they're not paced in such a way that makes you go, o, there's that big move. There's occasionally or an a or whatever, but there's not Nothing makes you want to like make sustained noise. So you just sit there and watch the the match. and I don't know if that's because of the whole business of like Gen Z don't react to things anymore. They just stand still on the dance floor because there are cameras everywhere and they don't want to be cringe Or if it's because U It's really interesting. It's a real phenomenon and it's a, you know U a cause of like you know, cameras being everywhere. I mean, now millennial, I completely get it because we are a cringe generation. Yeah, but we had fun, didn't we? Do you know what I mean? And like well, that's because we bordered on. Yes, it was cringe, but it was also fun. Yeah, because we were just we were still living our lives like it was a pre video time. Yeah. L and the pictures of us like that you get in a Facebook likeike tag the morning after versus ones from Gen Z But like Is it that? Is it not that? Is it just the fact that this is boring stuff? I think it's probably it's just a bit boring. Yeah. And I do think some of these matches formul They good, but they are kind of also boring at the same time. And crowds have almost been trained to just react to and do the big sp when you do your not your high spots, but your trademark spots. Yeah. So in this match, the crowd only really cared when Ray Mysterio set up for the six hundred one nine And so like he says Ethan Page like sort of stumbles and he falls in position to six hundred one nine. And the crowd came alive because they're like, Oh, we're going to get to see that move. And I think that's where it' sort of, I I think it's an urgency thing Like if there's not a sense of like if you if you don't feel like you're if too much of it is a pause or a rest hold or stretched out over the b of a commercial break, you're not inclined to continue your momentum because you're told I can rest. rest hold, my turnerm to rest now. And then you got to try and get you back into a frenzy. whereereas if a match comes out and it's like, bang, bang, bang three minutes long Asudio style No wonder you'd be noisy I thought was it was good like good action. They just lost the crowd the longer it went. Ray got the win when he hit the six one nine and the frog splash. Yes, he did JD. McDonough and Dominic M Mysteria went into Dan Hausen's lair and they stole a present that he was given by the New York Knicks. Absolutely outrageous. Scandalous. Joe Hndry was in the ring for a street Prophets title celebration. the Street Prophets came out and Tes thanked the crowd for supporting them, thaned Seth Rollins for his help last week, thanked Joe Hndry for his help last week. and then Joe sang a song about Austin Theory and Logan Paul and breaker and this that and the other. and Austin Theory came out. only member of the vision here this week because Paul bantered him off. There was no loogan Paul, no prom breaker And he said, well next week there'll be a rematch for the raw tag titles. And that Godd No reaction. And then the street profers bandned that off as well. Well, which one of you like are you still a thing? L I do you look do you like these concert segments. Ner do I. I don't know No I like Joe Yeah, yeah, Joe's niceive for him on Rw. Yeah, Joe's grand and all, but u I feel like he's he's almost being I don't want to say flanderized, but a bit but yeah, a little bit. There's also something in Poul's delivery of the stuff about Joe Hndry I feel really patronized. I got this about Dan Hausen as well. Yes. Michael Cole's reactions to Dan Hauser stuff makes me like Dan Hausen less. It's alost like I'm like, shh, shh Michael, let's just watch the show whichich is not what you want from your lead commenty. And I'd rather I would rather this than the I'm sorry for what you're watching we have had elsewhere in the canon. Bbert Matt Hardy. Exactly. But I don't know I just there's something about the delivery where I just feel like all likes his job anymore It's really it's really weird because in other moments like Champions, I think he really does. But I just don't, I don't know. I don't vibe with it with with the it makes watching segments like the song and like the Danhausen Quite tricky. Well, I'll tell you what will help Austin Theory get better reactions losing. becausecause what a way to build up the tag title contenders for next week? Joe Henry beat Austin Theory really easily. Not much of a match, not much in the way of reactions either. Yeah Yeah, absolutely just like beat him. happenapped, happened. There was no drama, there were no nearfalls, there was no story. Yeah. Joe just beat him. did some stuff and then he won Yeah Raquel askks Adam Pierce backstage, whyy have I not had a shot of the Interconnetor Championship? And Pierce is like, Well, Maxine wants a shot. So what's she done She a former champion. I tell you what, you two can have a match later on. It'll be a number one contendership match. Liv and Roxan Walkup and they're all on the same side this week and they're all going to have each other's backs for Liv Morgan See yesterday's podcast which led into the next segment because Eo Sky came out for a promo saying I won Queen of the Ring and now I'm going to face Liv and I'm going to do it all over again at Samerslam. Liv Morgan came out and said, Well, you didn't win Fair and Square. you only won because I was cursed by Dan Hausen. and I don't respect you because of that Eo Sky. I've done so much. I kicked Finn out of the group Where's Stephie Vacerbin? I took everything from Rear Rlely U And then Ralland, Roxam surrounded the ring and much like the shield beat downs, Wrestlers forget that there's a fourth side of the ring to a ring. but But it didn't matter anyway because you Sky beat up all three of them quite easily on her own. She did yeah. until the numbers game got the better of her. And I'm really glad that they targeted the knee. They followed up from that you yesterday. Eo even in her backstage segment Walking was limping. So so they really so we're now using this this is good, right? This is good because you're using something that happened in one match to set up something to happen in the next match in the rematch. So rather than just do it the same match again, you are carrying a story through into the next match. So I really liked that and it was all about targeting the knee. they were beating up on the knee. they hold up Eo so Livin hit obblivion and then she locked in the single leg crab to like really wrench it back. And I think they're doing a good job of establishing that move for her like, you know, I just ragged on Cole a little bit, but like he was, you know, hyping that this is a move that she's added to us and I'll check out Chlotte with it. She's like really and she locked it in pretty good. you know was bent backwards. It looked great. So like It's and you can imagine that on a bad knee, it hurts even more so like it was it was very effectively It is being effectively put over and I appreciate that. I actually I'm going to say this on a future, I think a social post that we're doing when we play a game about like name a better submission than that I was just waiting for the single leg Boston Crab to be said because it is like my favorite submission ever. Like Landstorm doing it Micheloio doing it I love single leg because the double when I did backstage wreling that was my and the backage backyard wresting, that was my finish was the single leg crab Because like there's an extra little tension between the two the dangling leg actually hurts as well. because like it's very good. I used to love a sk M crap. Weve got a recap of Solo helping LA Kights win last week and then their chat that they had on SmackDown. Solo was to be f friends. That segment was quite interesting. actually on SmackDown, I will say. I quite like Solo Yeah, well it's so interesting because I was chatking to my m who I was at the show with backackstage and I was like, I find soo immensely boring I find the MFT's immensely boring. I think he look silly in a suit. I don't like it. I think the I think it being so vividly red gets on my nerves. Yeah. I'd rather it was a black suit and a red top. I don't know what it is, but the color theory of it really doesn't vibe. and I think it all is a bit whatever. And then The segment with LA happens and solo says what he says and tries to go for it and LA absolutely shuts him down And I was like I'm now interested. I turned around. I was like, this is this this is good performance and good wrinkle and good interesting story. Yeah. So I'm now I'm now on board. I agree with you because it was that smack downown segment that has kind of turned me around a little bit. Yeah becausecause on last week's raw podcast, I was kind of not dismissive and I was down on this because, you know, solo helps LA Kight win with LA Knight looking at him And it's like, oh, it's a hypocritical LA. Kight almost accepting bloodline interference to help him win. I was like, we just did this with Drew. Yeah. like this is a storyline we've done before with another character But I think they actually now are taking a much more of a different wrinkle to it. And was that prom on SmackDown, I think really solidified that for me. It led into LA Kight versus Jimmy Uso in a rematch of last week and the crowd had a rematch from the London crowd of who could care less. Knight distracts himself with J Uso because Jay Usso was on commentary offering Yeah, he did say yeat a few times. J tried to interfere and that distracted LA night and Jimmy rolled him up to get the win On Jay a second if I can on the comments areary, you want to talk about low stakes didn't seem to be that bothered about losing of King of the Ring. You were in the King of the Ring Fn yesterday and there's like ner mention of it Yeah Yeah, that's really bad. wasn't much of a match. Jay then rushed into the ring to attack LA Kights, but then he got distracted because Solo Sakoa appeared from nowhere and gave Jimmy the spike and that allowed LA Knight to hit the BFT on Jay O so to lay him out. Big friendly thump I shouldn't know what it sounds for What a blunt force trauma. Okaykay, rightah They showed a video from after I thought myself They showed a backstage segment from Night of Champions where Gunther and Nick Alldis got into a shouting match and a shout a match. Why is it all the good stuff happens on the YouTube channel after a show It's where all the revenue is these dayays but on TA They'll put it on patreon eventually And you know, called Nic Alvis, you know, you're a former wrestler. I mean, granted, we've not done it since she lost the title because Becky's been off because she's been off TV. Yeah. And then you's like, who could have challenged Liv Morgan for the World heavyweight title? Oh I don't know So I was like,h, they'll do Becky vers Jessica Kar at Summerersle. That feels like a Summerlame match But I don't think you can do that and Nick Aldis versus Gunther. No. And think I think Nick Aldis is far more interesting to me at the moment. Like I really like the Becky Jessica Carthing, but that has come to an end now. like hasas it? How did it end? Well with the whole with, you know I think's ended. What because Becky lost the title? She's gone away. So for me the heat's gone away. So cool. I'm glad we spend so much time then dedicated. But we didn't really It was a bit of banter. No we dedicated. All of her matches had Jessica Karr in them and a lot of those matches were built around. Jessica Karr is the referee of this match. And they weren fun. And then Becky's all up on her Twitter machine and stuff doing all of her stuff about Jessica Carr and crooked referee and all this that Surely was building to something If the building to it was Becky lose the tle and we just move on. That's storytelling now. don't I guess I don't see the Jessica Car thing as the integral storyline for all of this. I think I see it as the She's a part of the machine being against Becky rather than I mean I would have enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, and I enjoyed every singlement of the cook a car business Yeah. but For me it wasn't the central focus of any of the stories. It was a really fond and bit of addition, a bit of silliness within her matches that I enjoyed. I f like it needed to get her payoff something othertherwise, we're in Chad Gable Lotus territory where I was like, we're going to keep building towards something they're never truly paying it enough we' to stop doing it. I thought it was because she's not a tremendous promo. This is one of the better ones. I don't think she's given tremendous material to c in promos, to be clear. I don't think many people are tremendous promos when they're delivering I'm first drafts, like, but I think she did a really good job of here I think she did a really good job last week. Yeah. so. Maxine walked past Chad Gable and she told him, I meant every word that I said last week, but I am sorry about how I handled it. Chad said, you don't need to apologize to me Good luck in your match It didn't help her though because she lost very quickly to Raquel Rodriguez who came out to an antipop Yeah. And then I would say The anti pop that Raquel got was louder than the match itself. Yeah ye Rquel's it's funny because she never gets a reaction And so like I hear all of her music And I don't like c music as well. Yeah. But it's a really tricky thing because like, I think she's good. and I think we've praised the work she's done since she, you know, turned into Big sexie and she's It's just it' again, this is this is what happens when you layer on predictability, predictability, predictability. This is what happens when you don't move things forward. This is what happens when you tell your audience that what they're watching doesn't really matter you know, and if they haven't got a big entrance where they do this a lot or they go and actually, if you notice at the start of this show, this crowd, they did not do this. They did the side by side when they were like, lookook at the crowd doing the overber of a bunch of people going Finds up, got to get a video of this this card weren't doing anything. So like You know, sort yourself out Atlantic City anti park. I only know Atlantic City because I think there's an episode of Friends where they go to it. No they think about going to it. Is that what it was? Do they not it's not the episode about the some of them going and some of them are not wrong? No. So the idea is that the idea is they're going to Atlantic City And then Phoebe Oh no, no, they go to London, and Phobe's jealous because she didn't get to go to London. And so they to Atanticity. So to make Atlantic City like the London trip. Yeah. then she goes into labour. And then I think that's what I Monica and Chana go for a thirty weekend in Atlantic City. I don't mind all that backstage stuff that then comes But if this is their first segment and he's breaking it off, that's weird. Like surely this is the like L, u He could have been nice and nicely and been like, you don't need Ch's pro. I think you were right. I think you werere dead right. And I don't know. He's Dick An. Yeah, but he's bad boyfriend better T storytelling. He is a toxic toxic, toxic Dan Hausen walked into his lair to find that people have made it a mess. And he's like, when did I do that? whichich I thought was quite qu funny Chad Gable then took on JD McDunner I been here. The crowd are just waiting for Roman to come out of this. It a good match, this was This was a really good match. There' two good wrestlers. To really good wrestlers. Michael Cole was doing his best to try and put over that this was a really good match and these two were having you an instant classic, what have you And I do think that the crowd By the end of it, we're starting to get more and more into it because the action was very good between the two of them. And they were just some really good stuff in here M. But then they popped the most when Danhausen came up because that's when the distraction and interference and knew a finish was coming. ex that. And Danhausen's over So Dan Hausen comes out, he calls it a distraction. That leads to Gable gettingiv the anklel log on JD McDonner because he tried like the Chaos theory superx and did like a couple of back and forth. ankor log, JD taps out And then he He leaves and Dan Hausen is, you know, he's sort of over here. and JD McDunner and Dominic Mysterio then go to get a box the briefcase, the briefcase briefase of money that's the human money, human money in it. And then like the cage match at Forbidden Door, that was wildly cooyoted and he opened it up and went poof up into their faces and they sold this big And was sell And then Danhausen got his jersey back. But as he was escaping up the ramp, Raquel Rodriguez came out and attacked Danhausen and took the jersey back So we're having a feud over a basketball top, but hopefully between Raca Rodrigas and Danhel. Like I'm not gonna to lie I would watch that match Yeah, I mean, this was the most entertaining thing on the show I found M than the like the closing segment or the opening segment? Those two don't count. Okay. you mean outside of yeah like the rest of the show. Rights okay. We We kicked through the door and we created the greatest generation of WWE wrestlers. but there are a lot of kids out there now, the next generation who are looking to come in and take our spots. because I've written my notes here, but not you, Bron. I actually really liked Seth promo. I Roman's performance here was really good I know the people don't appear to be particularly into this match. I think that's just because it's the Oberfemi thing. I think I think I think we have seen this a lot. like not the match, sure, but as Seth rightly points out, He's been involved for a long time. Yeah. They had the So u Main a forty one thing as well. So like I feel like I've seen it quite recently and it doesn't feel like the whoa two giants collide in a way that I feel about other things. Be there was a wild stat that came out after Sammy won the WW Championship is that he is the first wrestler to win the WWE Championship that started their WWE career in NXT. Yeah. because like Seth, Roman Drew, a bunch of these guys started like in FC WW Ionvestly, Drew was like you know he was on the main roster. Kevin and Finn were universal Universal WWE Champions ye Seth here had being like, we create this great generation. I'm like, why one of these these NXT ladzers won? And even then he was already quite in a big established star Yeah elsewhere before he came to WWE. And then even then it took twelve years Yeah for his tries twelve years and ten tries to win the WW Championship But you know, I think there's a lot of truth within what Seth had to say. Yeah. But then it just it kind of, it almost highlights the point that we're not creating any new stars because if your whole point is that are all these other kids are coming up, it's like, but we're still on top. And and it's pushing down Ober Femi to not having a title match at Sumersland because relying on the old stars still. Yeah. And I really do kind of w want to talk about the SmackDown spoiler a little bit.. Well I think we've made it through most of the show. We'll try and timestamp it a little bit in here The SmackDown has Samy Zan open the show and Cody Rhod and Jay Uso come out and that sets up a main event match for SmackDown The winner of that match will get a shot at SamyZan on next Monday's Rw. Right. It's Cody Ros and Jay Uso. I think it also makes a mockery of the King of the Ring Tournament because J Uu just lost the finals of the Kingings of Ring Tournaments so you get a number one contendership and now he's just having a different number one contenders match for a different title Yeah Cody wins that. So on raw next week, it's Cody versus Sane. Yeah I think Ty is winning that title I think he's going to beat Sammy Zane and I think CM Punk's coming back. and it's going be Punk and Cody at Summer Slam. Interesting. So that means your Summerlam main events then are Roman Seth Cody and punk. So it's like it's all your same old top lads still being old old and on top Yeah. and I want to see Punpkin Cody for the belt. I really do. I would like to see, I'd like to see it anyway U I't thats that's a few that doesn't need a belt Um Interesting. Yeah. I don't, I don't know. And as a Cododyie fan, I don't want to see it. That's that's my feeling on it and that would means I'd mean it a suck for Sammy. Like yeah, but that makes me feel like you just did it for the moment. Well he also cut the promo where he said doesn't matter what happens to me tomorrow, after next year, next week, whatever. I'll always be a WWE champion and I quite liked that as a as a line U I think handle term willill they It's not going to go for them the way they think it's going to go unless they expect for it to Cody to be a bady after after that because I mean yeah, I mean, punk's going to get the big home hometown sh because it's Chicago next week.e week. You didn't say that. Oh sorry. yeah, yeah. So I think yeah, it's in Chicago. That's why I think Punk's coming back on that show because he's been gone since WrestleMania There was a report that that was likely goingiving his rumoud return date. Like I know, a lot of people who were watching this show were there during twenty nineteen where were like we were like every single week being did the worst show. wor television in the world. It was much longer as well So they're never that bad But it's also just fine And And apathy sometimes is worse than just than than actively being backad. I think that's it. I think that's why I feel so like blur about it because I'm like I feel punished by this episode of Rw for wanting to enjoy episode of Raw. You know what I mean? And that's worse for me than just being like, Ah, we gonna miss. Yeah. And so I feel like I can't I don't get angry like I used to do at the show when I used to the twenty nineteen or even like emic era when they were just throwing things against the wall and splinter cell Randy Orton and like Alexa Bliss's little like swing set thing and even Marie tripping over nothing. likeike you know I kind of saort miss those days in a little way. At least the show was bad. and get angry about it and it was bad. This is just fine. Yeah. like it's just okay And even with the Ora thing, which I do think is actively bad, the segment was good. And I do think they're going to have a great match inside Hell and the cell. Yeah. So while like yeah, this is a bad choice that you've made, I kind of am' going get something good instead. It's not like you've done a bad choice and I'm going to get a bad match. Yeah. it's just that it's just that I'm going to get a great match and I could have had a great five weeks of television Instead I'm sating here going like, what is it going be? That is You made that point earlier And I think it particularly with Ober and Brock. I don't know what we're gonna do for five weeks because if Bro's not going to be there and they probably won't be because he's not on weekly TV usually H That could have been Obber's thing of like, you know, I know I want to continue. I want to fight both. I want like that's the story. tellell stories that let it be interesting The Patreon feedback to this was overwhelmingly negative. There's a few people who are like, I'm not so down on it, but I would say that most people were pretty pissered off me with it. I think that's been slightly missed in some people's feedback was like, Oh was just giving it up He's just giing it up for a summer snight Ket says Roman versusetemy right now is getting to the point of being John Cener versus Randy Orton levels of I don't wantan to see these two feud again. That's it That's it. whether or not it actually is that is different.ike And they're so intertwined and our stories will always be intertwined and whatever. Youve said a few times now, like, do you know what it is You said a few times this is this the plan for Sersam, This this is the P plan of Sumlam. And I think I'd bargain my way out of it. And so when Seth's music hit, I was like, okay yeah He add to Seth and Roman have put on good matches in the past, but it's to the point where it's overdone Miles, As predictable as it was, they chose the somewhat boring way to Sumerslam. I'm still pumped to see Obber vsus Brock inside Hll in a cell. I somewh have faith that Roman Seth might not just be a copy and paste match from years past, but I'm probably asking too much. I know some people are going to be mad about Ober pausing on his title shot, but if this hell in the seell match is as gruesome as I think it will be, I'd rather not have him resting back to back that weekend Yeah, that's fair. I also u There's always a like there's always a let it play out and I get our face when we go backwards, but at the moment they haven't earned the right for us to when we say let it play out, that usually came from I was like, it might go somewhere. And in WrestleMania forty It justified the death stair of thirty nine after a long time and it nearly didn't. it very nearly didn't they waitited until I don't know, like October, like actually probably like January before they start to pay off that story Yeah. And then And't'. So like that's it. It's like I don't feel I don't know. I don't feel just justifiably I can wait. It's When you're hot, you can do nothing wrong. Yeah. When you're cold, you can do nothing right. Yeah. Blike White House. I'm cool with Obberra saying he can wait for the title. Obrah has been presented as smart so far. If he isn't past Brock Lesnar and then psychologically, he's going to have to worry about Lesnar potentially costing him the match If he goes against Roman, he cannot afford any additional distractions. he knows that. I think you're putting far too much faith into the character and the story writing because that would have been part of King of the Ring if he wanted to. more. Yeah, I also think they could have made that as part of Seth's promo. Yeah. Now that Ober is not having his title shot of Samerslam, I'm coming to call mine D didn't mention kking the ring either now I suppose I would draw attention to the fact that he wasn't really lost in the first round Denny Dorco, I'm fine with Ober waiting for his title shot. Imagine if Ober wins the worldld Heavware title money in the bank and then the winner from earlier cashes in on him, only for Ober to beat him too. instantly becomes a wrestling guard No, awful, very bad. I Well I mean, trib is' money You might as well just like sack that. It was Jericho's idea we exack that off. I actually think that's I don'tind that as I hate. No I think that's pretty good because I think that plays into fans fears that yousy if it's a heal I think that'd be pretty fun. Why does have to be on the same night 'a it just establishes them even bigger. So No So we get rid of more drama, and get rid of more stakes. what the show doesn't need is lack of potential peril. It seems more like a marketing imimage than a tool to blow off a blood feud, especially when our last Helen the Cell was Punk and Drew. And if I think of Brock Lesnnerar and I think of all the images from Brock Lesnnerar's career, one of them is him standing on top of the Helena Cell covered in blood holding the belt. So like I associate And I liked that his t shirt today was like a throwback to his very first one next big thing Yeah. Yeah. and said on the back here comes the pain and we haven't heard that really said for a long time was that was big gimmick. So I know there's something about it being a Brock Lesnar trope that I quite like. And actually the point you made earlier about what do you do for five weeks There was no mention about it being a retirement match, no mention of it being Brock's final match So maybe that is what you're going to do for the next five weeks is get that element of it out I think we're supposed to just forget that he retired at Mania. Well, no, because he said he was retired last time he came back Yeah, but now than just not mentioning it, we're going to be retired again wors mean for a moment. Joe here says whilst I don't think he would win, LA Kight being in Roman's orbit and maybe getting an unsuccessful title shot would have been a decent way to keep him relevant and around for the main event scene Business with Solo is is pure vortex material. Is Solo turning face or is LA turning heel? Are the OSos heel now? There's no conviction to any of this. Everyone is just doing heel stuff but cutting face promos, and it feels like creative fail at telling even the most basics of storylines now Games. So I feel like like also This match was better than last week's match. I I thought Ellenight did quite well in this match. Okay. I thought it looked great. I thought they had the same match.
