Midcard Titles and Steel Cage Match

It's time for our predictions for Night of Champions twenty twenty six. I'm Luke Hammed AD. I'm joined by Oliver Davis. Welcome to the WrestleTole podcast here every Tuesday, Thursday, and today's special bonus Wednesday edition as we go through the six match card for Night of Champions twenty twenty six . Someone watched my WWE isn't wrestling anymore, Paula VevX running scared. He's gonna make sure that this show has forty one percent in ring wrestling and fourteen percent commercial breaks. He will laugh. At which point I'm going ch toange the rules or move the goalposts. It's a work in progress. If that happens, I'm going to be no, you know what? Still not good enough. Zero percent commercial breaks , one hundred percent wrestling , no entrances at all. Exactly. It's just like a chain smoking of wrestling matches . We have got a six match card. Let's go through the number figure. What's your number figure out at ten excitement level for night champions . So if ten is WrestleMania forty or elimination chamber twenty twenty three or my wedding , my wedding I'm more nervous about than excited at the moment. So that's not count that one. Supergirl, however . Okay, that's a good if Superman was ten out of ten, nice or like this which it was realistically you know like I'm four out of ten for this I don't care about it . Maybe if I was more you're quite confident on the Oberfemi winning thing. Yeah. And if I was may,be that would bump me up to a six. Yeah, I feel supremely confident about it. I don't know why I've just got this idea in my mind. I feel like this company needs and knows that it needs a shot in the arm and it needs to do something big and impactful to try and turn this malaise feeling around that some fans have towards it. And a way to do that is just to strap the rocket to someone and give them a mega push. What makes you think W WE think that? Because they're terminally online . But what have they done Like nothing's changed nothing's changed in the last couple of years. I think I think something has changed because I think Seth Rollins was going to win this tournament and they were going to do Brock Versus Over at SummerSlam and they pivoted and they're going to do Brock versus Brock versus Over and then do Ober versus Roman That doesn't mean There's a gut feeling. Are you confusing gut feeling with I really want this to happen? It would be the best. No, this is my this is my gut feeling. This is your serious gut feeling for all of that and TKO are going to book for summer slam because then you know what they could do? Be smug about it . Yeah, you thought we're not pushing people, but guess you just guys aren't enjoying the ride as much as you should be because we always know what we're doing. We're always ten steps ahead of you, you Marks. But they'd be Ober and Clash in Italy. Yeah, to then build to the rubber match at Sumerslam. Okay, but so that's that's do our predictions and then maybe we can do where we think the summer slam booking route is. I know my gut feeling could be horrendously wrong . It has been in the past, it probably will do again. Sometimes my gut feeling has been correct, though. Yeah . So I'm hoping this is where the hope bit comes in. This is where the hope bit comes in. I hope that my gut feeling is correct. Well, this is the thing. I want that to happen. And I think you can definitely do that. And then Roman Reigns is because you know, the original report was Oberfemi, Roman Reigns for the title WrestleMania forty three. And that's Ober's, I presume Big Crowning moment. I think you can do that at Sunnerum SmerlamS, having beat Brock beat Roman like you said, and then WrestleMania forty three is actually Roman beating Ober in the main event and you still get that match and it's a huge deal because Ober's held the title for like eight months . Or Oba beats him again. Or Oba just beats him. See where you're at, but the important thing is you've made a new megastar who's twenty eight years old . However , there's been I can not think of a time when we've had this conversation and WWE haven't gone for the safest , most predictable I know obvious routes. I know and you and I have talked about this on the show multiple times. We've always said when people get too excited , what's the obvious thing? What's the what's the what's the safest option they can do? Because that's always where they're going to be. So you're completely right. I'm now being that one who is blinded by optimism and I'm not seeing obvious reality which is the safest option is always the one to go with because that's the one the shareholders are most interested in. We as fans are not we're not important within this equation. What is important is what the shareholders think and ultimately the money that they make. And the way for them to make the most money is to have the most bankable people up on top which is Roman and it is and it is punk and it is Cody. So you just perpetually just keep them at the top all the time. I think it's that for sure and the other part of the equation is Paul of Eck's philosophy is that he has time and he doesn't like to rush things . And I think over six months in or eight months in really by summer slam , being Brock Lazner and winning the title on back to back nights, we know that's great. We think that would be fantastic. I think Levec will genuinely go no because we can we can draw that out. And I can tell that story over time. You're also right in the sense of if they'd made the decision that it's Brock and Rome it's Ober and Roman up next year's WrestleMania , hard to change minds about that. It's hard to be like, No, no, no, stick to the plan. 'Cause that's the other thing that Triple H likes to do. Stick to the plan , let's not veer off course . Even if that course is boring , we're staying on that course because the end goal will be good when we get there. If Seth wasn't injured, the whole last year would have been all vision. All vision all over raw all of the time. Let's open with it then. Let's talk about it because you've got several theories in and around this. It is the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament, it is JUSO versus Oberfemi. The winner will not only be crowned king of the ring, they will get the title shot at Sumerslam. I'm going with Oberfemi . I want I want that. That my heart wants that more than anything . So I agree with that . What I'm going to predict, which I think is far more likely I don't think your route is unlikely. I think there is a possibility they will take the swing because they feel like they need to . But I think that the more predictable option and the more likely option is Jay USO wins . JUSO wins the king of the ring because Brock Lesnar interferes and costs Ober that match . That sets up the rubber match because Obra has been calling out Lesnar in every King of the Ring match he's done. He has a promo afterwards and talks about it. That is setting up the Lesnar interference . That sets up Oberenbrock Lesnar, which I'm going to say, main events night one of SummerSlam . That's a that's a big enough main event. It's a huge mess. You need two big main events for SummerSam because it's a two night show . Yes, they could both be Ober Femi versus Lesnar and Roman . But I think it will be Brock Lesnar versus Ober on night one or maybe night two because Brock Lesnar from' Msinnesota, maybe there's the retirement step. Jayuso will open night one or night two and he'll win and he'll cash it in on whoever is the WWE champion . Because you look at those names, Cody Rhodes, Gunther , Sammy Zayn, that's the triple threat , at night of Champions . All three of them could face Jayuso and there'd be a bunch of storyline there already. Yeah, we've all got history with him. He was tag champions with Cody Rhodes, got the Bloodline Drama with Sammy Zane. And he beat Gunther for the World Title at Russellini forty . I think one I'm going to predict Sami Zame wins . Okay, okay. So okay, so you're going with . Yeah. Graphic up on screen now. WE Championship Match, cut back to us . Sammy's aim . Cody Rhodes . This to me is where I'm going with the safe predictable option. You go with Cody Rhodes because your main events of Samusan with the big air quotes for podcast listeners is CM Punk. It's punk vs. Rhodes for the WW Championship at some . Oh, and you have punk come back in his favorite place in Saudi Arabia for the Night Championship. He's not going to be there as a night Champions. He can be on the SmackDown afterwards. So you're having Ober choose Oberwins chooses Roman for Summer Slam and that leaves the WWE title free Cody Rhodes has it, Siamunk P comes back . You told me I can have a shot whenever I want and I want it for summers. Summersime. It's possible. Punk went into the tilt summer slam. Yeah , yeah. That's again, that's where my gut feeling is taken me. So I'm going with Cody Rh odes to win there . And your gut you think Sami Zayn and then the Summer Slam opening match that's in the first hour for free on ESPN is Sammy Zayn versus Jay Uso for the WWE Championship. Yeah. I love butts in seats. I don't think that's like a fully ironclad thing by the way. I just think Saudi Arabia, they had that one glimpse. I think Triple H in the back of his head, the story with Sammy, he is to become a world champion. He do it in Saudi Arabia. I don't think it's going to be at Mania next year. It wasn't at the rumble this year. Do it in Saudi Arabia, short run, lose it at SummerSlam to Jay and it's their little story and the internet will champion the internet will frickin hate it . Jay USO beaten Ober Femium the King of the Ring final and then winning the WWE title at SummerSlam. Yeah. I guess it's the darkest timeline. I'm not saying this is what I want. I'm just looking back at the last eighteen months and they keep booking J to be in these positions. Yeah . In the other final of the Queen of the Ring Tournament, so both of these matches I believe are the ESPN free matches and it's EO Sky Vs Liv Morgan. I've been saying it for pretty much the into silent tournament. Yo sky wins and then she faces Liv Morgan for the sil at SummerSlam, which likely will be retained by Liv . Yeah, I think EOSKY wins as well. It'll be great for her to actually win something that's sure it's not a title, but she can have the Queen of the Ring to her accolades . I think there's an outside chance she could pick Rhea Ripley and do IO versus Rhea but you know, they could go either way you. p Ifinned the champion the whole point to put the champion in there is to do the AEW title eliminator thing. So she beats the champion to earn a title shots but she would get that anyway I know she would. If I was EO and I was smart I'll be like, Well I've, already got one in the bank because I've just pinned the champion and I've got this free shot . I'll go for real. I'll do both. I'll do both For the WWE United States Championship, Trick Williams defends against Ricky Saints . Yeah, obviously Trick is hot at the moment. I don't know if he's hot as he was going into mania and stuff when he got the belt , but could Ricky Saints win it could go either way. I think tricks retained I think trick yeah I put trick retaining one Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breaker in a steel cage match. So this is the other part of your equation when it comes to the King of the Ring because in your world, Joo wins King of the Ring, Samuel Zayn wins the WE Championship, all Ambrock faces over . All of a sudden Romans got nothing to do at SummerSlam, which is where Seth Rollins beats Brombreaker and then , you know, the Raw next Monday , Seth comes out and says give me a shot at the title I never lost . Me a new Roman Summer Slam. Because one of the original plans as has been reported at least has been claimed is that Seth was going to win the King of the Reed Tournament to set up Seth versus Roman. This was the WrestleMania main event that they wanted this year, but could not have because Seth got hurt. Yeah, it was meant to be Roman going for Seth's Worldavy Heweight Title at WrestleMania forty two, they couldn't do that . So they pivoted to Rains Chasing Punk's World Heavyweight Title . And then yeah, a boo of self made I mean he did say that Seth was going to win the King of the Ring Tournament to get that shot and of course Seth got eliminated right away . I actually think that might be a really fun misdirect because Seth doesn't need to win the King of the Ring tournament to get that shot. I think he's justified in the I never lost a title. And I'm Seth Rollins and your Roman Reigns. The vision's behind me now. The vision is behind me . Yeah . Because I've got Seth to win here as well. I think it's the feud ender we sort of had a couple of weeks back that Seth wins and that's the end of it and he does put the vision behind him which is absolutely obscene. The whole point of this feud should have been to build up Bronbreaker and Bronbreaker is so much less than what he was when he joined the vision now. I know but that's the triple H playpo h. This whole point of evolution is to get Randy Orton over. So I'm going to beat him in his first title defense and win the title back. Or you know, it's a case of what it did with legacy . But the whole point of legacy was to get over Cody Rhodes and Teddy Bassi Jr. So Randy just beat both of them at WrestleMania and then you get over because you were in the ring with the top star. And that's where that's where Bronze at now. He's going to get over because he's in the ring with the top star. You've got time. You've got time kid Which leaves you with the last match to cover , which is for the WWE Women's United States Championship as Tiffany Stratt defends against Jade Cargill. They had some barn stormers over the W omen's Championship last year. I'm being facetious of them. Yes . Anti chemistry , although they've been better this year, I thought . It's one of those matches I don't really care about. I feel like Jade has that Charlotte feud still pending . So maybe Jade wins to get the belt into that feud. It's not like Tiffany Stratton's lighting the world on fire with this belt. So actually I was thinking Jade as well, Jade wins the United States Championship and spin it off into this Charlotte feud. It's gonna be such a long podcast. It's going to be such a long day for me said . It's going to feel long as well because I'm probably gonna watch Night of Champions the night . The thing is I've got to try and work out when I'm gonna watch it in the evening. I'm going to have to watch after my wife goes to bed, I reckon because she's not I don't want to spend my evening time with her watching wrestling. She won't want to do that. Like I want to say what does she want to know who's gonna like, you know, if Trick Williams retains against Ricky Saints? What I mean by that is that we want to watch something together that we both enjoy. So I don't want to just go to another room and watch something else. That's not really what we do , which means I'll have to wait till she's gone to bed, which means I'll be up later on the Sunday than get up earlier on the Monday to watch night champions. In which case I may as well just get up at three. The sacrifices we make for you guys for this job, which is which is the best job in the world. So yeah, join us.
