CurioCaster

A web player built to showcase the newest open podcasting features.

CurioCaster is the web-based Podcasting 2.0 reference client, a browser player designed to demonstrate what a modern podcast app looks like when it takes the whole Podcasting 2.0 spec seriously. It's a project by an independent developer (Steven Bell), intentionally kept in beta and used across the community as a way to see new spec features in the wild.
What it does
CurioCaster runs entirely in the browser at curiocaster.com. Paste any podcast RSS feed and it plays it, with the Podcasting 2.0 features exposed as first-class UI: transcripts, chapters, cross-app comments via podcast:socialInteract, guest bios via podcast:person, live status updates via Podping, and value-for-value payments via the Lightning Network. If you've never seen Podcasting 2.0 outside a demo video, spending twenty minutes with CurioCaster is the fastest way to see what the spec actually enables in a real player.
Where you get it
Web only. Open curiocaster.com in any modern browser: no install, no account, and no app-store approval to navigate. There's no iOS or Android app because there isn't meant to be. The browser is the platform.
Current stance
Actively developed by Steven Bell as a demonstration project rather than a commercial one, with issues and suggestions taken via the fediverse (podcastindex.social) and email. If you want to see how modern the podcast spec has become without installing anything on your phone, this is the fastest path in. For the same feature ambition in a shipping mobile app, look at Podverse (cross-platform, open source) or Castamatic (iOS, boutique).
